My gel polish is chipped and it's been 3 days. The staff here are also very rude. My nail tech went too far up with a drill and I go "ouch" and she literally laughs at me. I get my nails done often so I know that wasn't how it was supposed to feel. What's more? I paid $50 for a fill in and gel polish (that is not staying on my nails). Great little place. Went on Sunday when it wasn't too crowded. No wait and they did a great job. Prices are about the same as other places but they offer free beverages. I love the massage chairs they use. They don't just go off after 15 minutes, you have the controls so you can control your massage. It was so relaxing. My toes are ready for spring. read more

Not sure that I trust how sanitary this place was. I'm from out of town and had a broken nail so I was desperate. The person who "welcomed" Me was lounging on their entry way couch like he was at home with his shoes off, I questioned if they were even open. The whole shop seemed a little off, idk I can't put my finger on it. Also the woman who did my nails took her tools out of the blue sanitizing pouch but I seriously doubt they were recently cleaned because the pouch was already open at the bottom and looked grimey. I opted out of a full mani and just got them sealed to stop the break after seeing the working environment. This was the usual place for my daughter--not after today. The lady was rude, insisting on me paying before my daughter came out. I've never done it this way. I can see why; the work is substandard. Turns out my daughter said she was on the phone a lot during the session. We won't be going back. UPDATE. My daughter was desperate to have her nails done and talked me into taking her again. Bad move. The lady doing her nails left her while she waited on another customer. She then pressured my daughter to pay prior to finishing the job. Being a young teenager, my daughter relented after three tomes and gave her a tip. Evidently it was insufficient. The lady did a terrible job. At least my daughter learned her lesson about being more prudent where she spends her hard earned money. read more

I got my nails done two days ago from Michelle due to her talking and being rude she did a terrible job on my nails to where they were too thick I paid $25 (white nails). The next day I came back because she did terrible to inform her that my nails were terrible. She said that I could get them done again. Cool...I get them done again the next day and they don't have my original nail color I get charged an additional $12 (pink nails) . When I asked the guy that was doing my nails was that the original color, the jerk told me no. And got upset and asked someone else to do my nails. I guess he thought I was trying to get over but when the new guy was doing my nails. I didn't feel like asking him to change it again so I was like forget it. Then another lady confronts me saying that I didn't need them to be redone in the first place and nothing was wrong with them to begin with. Worse experience I've ever had at a nail place. I got the acrylic set and every single nail is crooked and uneven length. It took her a hour and a half and I had two separate nail ladies because they kept getting up to start someone else's nails. She did two other nails sets and three eyebrow waxes while in the middle of my nails. I also got a pedicure that was decent but the painting on the nails is awful and I mean the worse nail paint I've ever seen. I could have done better than he did. I decide to go to this location because they have later hours and worked well for my schedule. every employee was extremely rude- i wanted shellac on my nails and had some questions and the manager on duty was more than rude. the prices are not posted so anytime i asked the price would change and it ended up being outrageously priced. it has been less than a week and my shellac is pealing and my pedicure is messed up. they charge for a manicure on top of the shellac. will never go back - with the bad service, poor quality, rude employees, and high prices i cannot believe they are still open. read more

I went to Kathy nails today and it was a very pleasant experience. They take your temperature when you walk in the door and then you go wash your hands. After that you pick out your polish. I felt very safe being in there. They have also started lining the tubs with a plastic liner for added safety. The staff is very professional and pleasant. Jenny is always very helpful and takes her time to get your nails exactly how you want them. The shop is very large so you don't have to be right next to anyone. They do accept appointments so you won't have to wait for someone to get to you when you walk in. This is a very great nail salon to visit! read more

I went in for a pedicure with my best friend and even though there sanitation was GREAT! The water was cold when I first stuck my feet in the tub and when o asked her if she would warm up the water she looked at me and ignored me, didn't et our complimentary champagne, and when it came time for he pedicure she was throwing my feet around and didn't scrape the dead skin off my feet... And the way she filed my toenails were wayyy to short and CROOKED! the nail polish job was shitty as well, didn't get to the edges at all. Went here on a whim while I was shopping at the Avenues in Collierville. It was Sunday afternoon so I was surprised that it wasn't as busy as I thought it would be. Seeing other reviews on here leads me to believe that this is the day to go! Nothing super special about the place. The shop appeared clean and the service was acceptable. I paid $45 for the mani and pedi which is pretty normal. My only complaint would be that the service for both only took about an hour or less. I really like a good pedicure and this place fell a little short on that service. Good pedicures, in my opinion, take an hour alone...at least! read more

Don't waste your money!! The massage for the pedicure was literally someone punching my feet and the sides of my calves. The polish for my toes is all over the edges and she didn't even try to clean it off. The man who did my gel manicure did an awful job and got it all over my fingers. It seemed like he tried to clean it up a bit during but I realized afterwards just how sloppy and uneven it was. I knew fixing it would be really difficult at that point since it was gel so I just tried filing the edges off at home. Okay so I never get my nails done and when I do I always get something simple and never complain. I haven't went to Kathy's in years because of how bad they are and my sisters always tell me don't go to them. But I figure since I need to get things done here(at the mall) I might as well get my nails done here. I go in and pick my color, and they tell me I could be seated. I show a picture (first picture) of how I want my nails "hey can you do the shape of the nails like this" the man takes my phone shows another employee they talk in Chinese and both starts laugh. He looks bad and tells me "no we can't do this" I'm like thinking like so I tell him again I just want the shape not the design and I want it shorter. And he starts shaking his head and puts on the set. After he gets done he cuts them ALL square. I didn't say nothing because he just leaves. Then doesn't come back. I guess they were doing one person puts on and another finishes. So the owner comes (she did my nails years before and I know she's not good with them) but I wanted to give her a chance to redeem herself. So I show her the picture of the shape and she says ok. And she filing the nail and starts putting the acrylic on. I look up and it's dripping from my nail then she dips her finger in the purple liquid and starts smoothing the nail putting the acrylic under my nail. And I'm just shook. I should've said something but I hate complaining. So this goes on until she gets to the end of my nail she slaps the oil on, hands me a brush ,and tells me to wash my hand. I go back and she say you pay now. And I say ok let me just call my sister so she can send the money. Not even five seconds later "you pay now" and I said yes I'm just calling to get the money. Again YOU PAY NOW. I'm just like :/ so I get up give her my card and asked can I get matted nails and she said it's gonna be +$3 I said ok. I pay and she paints them. (They weren't even matted) I started to get sad because they were so ugly and when I left I called my mom and my mom went up there and went off on her because of the terrible job. I felt bad because the lady is super nice. Another lady did them and she told me to wash my hands again and I asked her could I get a brush and she tells me it's some over there. Do not go here! I went in on a slow Friday afternoon and there was one person working. I wanted a full set. She rushed through the entire process. She cut the tips before asking how long I wanted them so I ended up with extremely short nails. I asked for squovals and got squares. I asked for gray and got purple with glitter. Hated. This. Place. Here's why: I picked out a few colors because I couldn't decide which one I liked. When I explained this a several times, it became clear she didn't understand English and she kept trying to respond in Vietnamese. She then angrily talked about this with the other 3 colleagues, who also angrily responded, pointing at me and shaking their heads madly, instead of helping explain. Whatever they're saying--that's just plain rude/open to misunderstanding. Once we finally got on the same page, she was clearly pissed the rest of the experience. She used her nails to wipe under my nails as she painted, which is usually normal, but she did it VERY hard. She cut me under my nail and it started bleeding. She didn't apologize or anything, she just kept going. She returned to that finger with another coat and SLID HER NAIL AGAIN. I was cursing, it stung/hurt like hell! Tools were dirty, especially this brush she used to clean up in the end. Oh, and she was using acetone on this brush, which she once again, stabbed my cut with and just moved on when it stung. They also ask you to pay midway, which I've never experienced. I was super confused and was asking why I couldn't pay at the end. Again another language inability to understand happened, and finally another customer told me they always do that. Overall attitude of everyone was so dull, uninterested and rude. This place was awful. Go somewhere else, I'm sure Memphis has a lot of better places. read more

The worst pedicure ever. I could have done a better job with my eyes closed standing on my head. Just don't do it! They ran my credit card and I paid cash for the tip and after I walked out the door they chased my into the parking lot and said that they charged me the wrong amount and to just add the 8$ in the tip line. They don't have their prices listed for the kind of polish I got it so I had to trust that they were telling me the truth. The male tech that did my shellac was watching something on his cell phone that he had to conveniently talked in a drawer so I couldn't see what he was watching. My little toe had polish on my skin and when I asked them to fix it the tech that did my pedicure came and added more polished to my toe. I have shellac stuck to my fingers and the tech also didn't use a file to file down the ragged spots on my nails. read more

Kathy's Nails has turned into a hit or miss nail salon. And my last several visits have been complete misses. When I first started going here, I had a really great experience, the nail tech was friendly, skilled, and overall performed a great manicure/pedicure service. I haven't seen her there lately so either her schedule changed or she moved on... The salon was always clean and offers a huge selection of polishes. However, the last several visits have been absolutely awful. The services were performed half-heartedly by unfriendly techs. My cuticles were either wrecked or untouched and polish would chip off in two days due to poor application and no base coat or top coat.... At one point I requested a tech to go back and out base coat on after she sloppily applied polish and was grumbled at... I have also had to request top coat on a pedicure. She seriously did not put a top coat on! I mean.... What?!? The last and I mean LAST time I was there or will ever go, the tech proceeded to file so hard without actually looking at what she was doing she broke the skin under my toe open. She then was so careful with my other foot that she barely filed/cut or managed my nails and cuticles at all. So... Yeah.... The two star rating is an average. If it were just first four times I had services performed by a friendly and competent technician, I would rate 4 stars. It would have been one star because of the five other terrible visits. Shame on me for giving them four more chances after the first time I got a terrible service. read more

DO NOT GO HERE!!! Your money is better spent in many other places, might I recommend Nail and Skin Bar, Midtown? I went on a whim for a quick pedicure and manicure, plus one nail was broken so I wanted to get a tip so that it would be the same length as all the others. The first red flag was when I had already started with the pedicure, but all of a sudden a woman ran out from the back and took over. She was really, really rough, spoke little to absolutely-no English, and cut into my cuticles (huge sanitary issue, some blood). Thankfully, not too mangled, just uncomfortable. I told her that I wanted only one tip, to make my index finger the same length as the others, and the woman, clearly not understanding, brings over the bottle of nail polish and just starts painting over the nail, smiling at me and signaling to see if that was what I wanted. Um, no. A tip, please. When we finally got the message across, we sat down at the table and she filed down my nail (too much, btw, it was so so so incredibly sore the next day and two months later it is still very weak) and put the acrylic on. The woman also had horrible vision, she put the acrylic on up about 1/3 my nail, meaning there was an extremely obvious gap between my cuticle and the start of the acrylic nail/polish. It looked absolutely horrible. She continued painting and I would have to tell her, please paint lower, please paint closer to the bottom of my nail. The varnish was not put on smoothly or evenly, and because it was a dark color it just looked like an amateur did it. Every time polish landed on my skin next to my nail (which was often), instead of using an orange stick or nail polish remover gently, she used her own sharp nails. She asked if I wanted a flower, I audibly and politely said no (because I am a woman, not a teenage girl), she still f*cking painted a daisy. And, at the end, after multiple times of grabbing my hand back and asking her, "What are you doing? Does this look good? This hurts!" there was the final straw on the camel's back: they used a regular lamp to try to dry the nails, like a cheapie office desk one, and when she pulled it down towards my hands the light bulb BURNED my skin on the tops of my joints and below my nails. I left the salon $50 poorer with sore, raw, cut, burnt and ugly fingers and toes. If you look at my reviews, you can see they are all highly positive. I am not a demanding, rude or arrogant person, but please learn from my experience and DO NOT give this business your money or access to your skin. I came here on a whim while I was at Carriage Crossing. I typically go to Vo's by Kroger on Byhalia. I got tips and dip powder and all I can say is that it was pretty horrible. The end result looked alright but the process took almost two hours with the amount of times my nail tech walked away from me to go do someone else, go to the back, etc. She was very rough and I really don't complain about roughness, but it was almost out of hand how bad it hurt at some times. I did bleed at one time from the drill on my cuticle, which has never happened to me before so I was shocked. I decided to write a review due to negative ones I read about this salon. I've seen customers come in expecting to be waited on immediately and get an attitude when it doesn't happen. I came in last Saturday to get my nails done for a gala. I normally go Vo's Nails in East Memphis and I am accustomed to the service they provide, but I was in a hurry and did not have time to go to Vo's. I wish I had gone without my nails being done. I spent $50 for a shellac manicure that lasted less than 1 week (Vo's costs $35 and lasts 3 weeks). I always get the manicure for the massage which only lasted 30 seconds.. just long enough for the lady to put a dime size amount of lotion on my hands. I will never return to this location. I noticed a nail wasn't glued down properly while getting my new set. I told the lady and she said it would be fine. After finding my nails I noticed they looked horrible. The tips weren't glued down properly so there was a space above my natural nail the the tip. I asked her to fix it and she said it was my fault because of how I wanted my nails done. I have been getting my nails done the same way for 8 years and have never had this happen! I like I wasted $40. These nails look terrible and all she would do to fix them was stick some glue under the nail (that didn't even fill in the gap). She then walked off and would not come back. Terrible service! Eek! Methinks not is right. Probably one of the worst pedicures I've experienced, for 30 big ones too. My manicurist/ pedicurist was Michelle, and things started off bad and went downhill quicker than I expected. The water to soak my feet in was cold and I asked her to make it a bit warmer, suddenly the water became practically boiling to the point where I had to take my feet out. Then I asked Michelle to trim my toenails but she told me they were 'okay' and filed them down a little instead. After filing she did a QUICK run over my feet with the exfoliant, slapped some lotion on and started to paint my toenails. She painted one nail and told me the color I so meticulously selected was 'too light' and I therefore needed to choose a new color. I picked a different color and the entire pedicure was over in 15 minutes.. no exfoliating, trimming, cleaning, massaging or any of the other great perks that come with standard pedicures I've had in the past. Meanwhile my friend was getting a fill and pedicure from a man in the salon. He had her soak her nails in acetone for more than an hour until her fingers started to sting. He left her sitting and soaking in the chair while he went on a casual starbucks run and came back 30 minutes later to treat his coworkers. Then when she asked for tips, he ignored her and just did a gel overlay instead. LASTLY, my other friend did not leave a tip because her experience was less than mediocre, and her manicurist got up and was showing the other workers the receipt and that she was left no tip directly in front of all of us (some of us still soaking in acetone). We thought going to collierville and paying a little more would get us a better experience, will not be going back to Kathy's Nails. read more

Was very disappointed in my manicure I received.. I got a French nail done in shellac and the guy barely could understand me and every time her did the nail the curve was uneven and I am not over exaggerating when I'm saying a kindergartener could make a straighter line.. With 20 percent off I still ended up paying 34 for the polish only and I usually only pay 25 back home where I live.. Waited an hour for pedicure with my feet in freezing cold water,asked twice for them to warm it up! I ask the lady to cut down my nails and she cuts all but big one and I had to ask her to do that one too... then she forgot to do half the pedicure and was skipping all over the place. Having very limited experience, I would say it was a great place. I went once or twice before to have nails done and the places were either a squished, zoo or very, very expensive. This one was the usual, lower priced type, not a spa, and yet it was a very nice atmosphere...lovely fountains, very nice, new massage chairs in the pedicure area, clean with a complimentary glass of champagne, I did have a little holiday design painted on one nail and it wasn't quite like the example, which is my experience at the other squished zoo as well, but the pedicure gal was incredibly gentle and the manicure gal was a little rough but good.
