Natraj is a very traditional Indian restuarant on the lower end of Gloucester Road. The resturant…read moreis a little dated, but it really does look as if you have been transported to a village in India so this could both be a good and/or a bad thing! The food is very good, as is the service. They treat you like royalty here which I like! Service was a little slow, but nothing really to complain about. It's not the best resturant you'll ever go to, but maybe worth a trip if you like very traditional Indian cooking.

I'm not really supposed to eat stuff like this as we crossfit athletes (ahem) are meant to follow…read morethe paleo diet. That means no rice, no popadoms, no naan bread, and for all I know no curry either. If I'm on a cheat day though (and let's face it I often am) and deserve a special treat then this is high on my list of targets on the takeaway nirvana that is Gloucester Rd. The Natraj is certainly a well established restaurant as I'm pretty sure it was here when I moved to Bristol in the early 80s. Curries are not quite as popular as they were back then from what I can see, but the Natraj keeps on keeping on with its range of traditional Indian dishes. My current favourite is the butter chicken with boiled rice, with a naan and some cucumber raita unadventurous I know but delicious. Plus it's licensed, so you can enjoy a quick pint of Kingfisher and a scan of the Sun while you're waiting. The atmos is authentic old-school Indian restaurant, and the staff are helpful and friendly. Spot on!

This is our family's favourite curry place place and we always travel out to go eat here. It's a…read morepub and restaurant combined. You get locals coming in for a pint at the bar which is decorated with machetes. And families coming in for food. They also cater to large groups if you give them warning. There is a good numbers of options in terms of both food and drink. I recommend the gurka special as a starter to share between 2 or 3. It's a selection of spiced meat and veg on a sizzler. For main there is a good number of options and you can choose your own heat (all options are pretty mild in my books). The naans are really good, especially the peshwari ones. No idea what the puddings are like, if you are still hungry at this point I reckon you've made a mistake with your order!!! Drinks wise, you can't go wrong with a Stowford Press Definitely recommend this place. But remember to book earlier in the week if you want to eat there at the weekend. It gets busy.

I enjoyed it here. The starter and main course were great, lots of curry type food. The puddings…read morewere a bit of a disapointment as they were bought in types rather than homemade. Staff are very friendly and keep asking if everything is ok. The price was about a hundred pounds for 4 of us so wasn't cheap. The pub itself is worth popping in to for a drink as it is a country type with open fire. It is located just off junction 3 of the M50 motorway and so is a good place to stop rather than using motorway services
