Once you go down all the steps you find a lovely setting and excellent food and service. We shared samosas and Pasanda - excellent.

    Tulsi Indian Resturant

    Tulsi Indian Resturant

This is my first Yelp review…read more The atmosphere at Tulsi is exceptional. The music is well-sourced, the cherry trees are tasteful and pleasant, and the historic Pulteney bridge location makes this a unique fusion of old and new. However, the service at this restaurant is terrible. I arrived at a time when the restaurant was relatively quiet, and yet the four-person wait staff seemed overwhelmed. I ordered a beer from the tap and a main dish with a side of naan bread. I waited over 30 minutes for my beer to arrive, as the wait staff forgot the order, and then brought the wrong drink to the table, and the last time the waiter who appeared in charge had to pour the drink and bring it over. While waiting, three different waiters asked to take my order, after I had already ordered and informed them of such. When the food arrived over an hour after I ordered, it was not as described in the menu, was cold, and was mediocre. I had to ask them to confirm that it was what I ordered. I asked for the bill from the same waiter who took my order and paid as I did not want to wait to leave after I finished my meal. It is worth noting here that the bread and appetizers they bring (almost unsolicited) at the beginning of the meal are not free and total approximately 5 pounds. After finishing my meal and leaving the restaurant, one of the waitresses chased me down and had the audacity to accuse me of not paying in the middle of the crowded street. Very embarrassing.

Very unprofessional behavior. First a text asking for a confirmation and a deposit. When asked…read morehow to provide the deposit, the reply was "We'll get back to you." The next day, a text informing us that they haven't the staff to open Christmas Day and therefore will be closed. This two days before the holiday. Very shoddy treatment.

The restaurant is located on the second floor, and you have to walk up a flight of stairs. We came on a Friday night and there were a decent number of diners inside. No reservations were needed, although we were asked. The service by all staff was friendly, kind, and courteous! They have vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. We shared family style and ordered Vegetable Korma, Saag Paneer, and Channa Masala. Also Sada Chawal and the Bread Basket. The veggie korma was one of the best I've had in my life. It was creamy, hearty, savory, and full of fresh vegetables. The channa masala I enjoyed but was a bit spicy for my taste buds. The rice is always a nice complement and the bread and warm and fluffy. Portions were good and we took the rest to go. Indian Temptation is a must-try in Bath if you like Indian food. Workers are lovely and the food is delicious. The restaurant is on the second floor of High Street and Cheap Street.

And maybe even better. We were seated quickly nice clean restaurant fast service people were very attentive. We looked at the menu. Had a couple suggestions and went right for it. It gave us no room to move our adjacent arms, so we kind of sat perched on the edge of our seat eating sideways. Another strange thing was that the server would not look at me or and never addressed me once; he exclusively spoke to my partner. So, atmospherically and service wise, the experience was both unpleasant and uncomfortable. And the food? It was okay. I appreciate that they have vegan and gluten-free options clearly labeled on the menu. We weren't asked about spice levels, so everything was MUCH hotter than we might have personally liked. So much so, that most of what we ordered tasted the same; it didn't help that much of what we ordered ended up being fried too. The Pakoras, Gobi 65, and Mogo Chips were nearly indistinguishable from one another. The Tandoori Broccoli could have been delicious if it wasn't so soggy; the Tofu Chili could have been nice, if it wasn't so spice-forward. The Bengal Jhalmuri (puffed rice shallots, raw mango, coriander chutney, and fresh pomegranate) was my favorite because it felt so different from everything else we tried; light and refreshing, and the variety of textures were interesting too. If you love heat more than flavor, this might be the place for you. For us, there are other restaurants we feel more welcome - and are more excited by the food - at.
