The sushi here is decent, but nothing out of this world. The service is somewhat slow, so make sure you get some appetizers/drinks to hold you over. The ambiance is pretty nice. Decent decorations and the tables are spaced out enough where you feel like you have your own space. Also, DONT GET THE SALMON or HAMACHI COLLARS. The taste is average and they're filled with bones. I have stopped by here a few times as it is close to Hewitt Reptile where I will house my beardy when on vacation. While it's not close to where I live, I always stop in when I can as I quite enjoy the food and atmosphere. Staff is friendly and the food is great. I live in Seattle where good sushi is easily available, and I will still make the choice to eat here when I can. Talking to friends in the area they say it's the best sushi in the downtown Everett area and I can see why. I have the bento box before which I enjoy but the nigiri is my favorite, fish was fresh and had good sized pieces. Its 4 stars for me as there are places I enjoy a little more due to some unique dishes they offer but they tend to be a bit more expensive, so this is great for the value. On a dark street right off the freeway. There's generally parallel parking nearby. They don't do reservations anymore on OpenTable unless it's a party of 7 or more. There was a large party of 10, so that's nice to see they can accommodate a large group. We were seated right away at sushi bar but they did say a table was a 45 min wait for a party of 2 (so maybe they do take reservations via phone?) I really like the interior with the brick walls. It's a very bright restaurant, I do wish they dimmed the lights for better ambiance. I was disappointed with the Katana roll since it's so popular. Just didn't have a lot of flavor. I was craving for sushi and my friend recommended this place since we were up in that area. I'm rarely in the area where this restaurant was located, but honestly speaking, I'd come back for their sushi. The fish was fresh and they had really unique rolls that were super tasty. Their rolls a little pricey, but we had a discount using our BECU app. With the discount, everything was actually pretty affordable and even without it, it's worth the full price in my opinion. We felt kind of rushed throughout our whole dinner and even was given the check without asking if we wanted dessert. We had to ask about dessert. The sushi rolls seemed smaller than last time. It still tasted pretty damn good.. fresh fish and right amount of sauce. Our absolute favorite was the volcano roll. Perfect amount of crisp from the batter. The waiter recommended the captain crunch roll with coconut tempura and it arrived over fried.. on the darker side. It was tooo crunchy, not enjoyable to eat. That was a huge disappointment because it wasn't cheap. I recommend their deep fried oysters... so noms! They fry them to perfection. This place is a step down from Kai IMO, but still pretty good sushi. They also have a great happy hour conveniently with all the things I like on it. What just happened is a little weird tho lol I ordered online through toast or whatever it is. I always get my Cali roll tempura when I eat in, but they didn't have that option online. I placed the order at 5:37 and called them seconds later to ask them to make it tempura. The hostess told me she would ask if they can, IF they didn't make it already. I didn't say anything because I literally placed the order seconds prior so it shouldn't have been a problem. My husband went to go pick it up and they (whoever) told him they already made it by the time I called. So either the host lied and didn't think I'm smart enough to piece it together, or this sushi joint pre makes their sushi rolls. Whichever the outcome, it's either gross or weird or both. Im not gonna throw a tantrum or call back and make them remake it, or have them remake it while my husband is waiting at the door. I just don't like being lied to and it really feels like that. I got receipts too. Edit: Oh I do wanna say those servers are the dopest! I served for 5 years at one point in time and I wish I had your guys' charisma. This is definitely a higher price point sushi with smaller than usual portions, but is worth the extra money. The sushi was so delicious and amazing quality fresh fish. Will return on my next splurge night. Way better than any other sushi in Everett. The only place I would go to over this place is Momiji in Seattle which has the same quality but is cheaper and with larger portions. Edit: My first time eating here was takeout right before closing I ordered three rolls and they fit everything in one layer in one of those small black plastic takeout containers we were still hungry after eating. I went again in person and ordered the same three rolls and the portions were at least 30% bigger. Don't know why they reduced our food the first time I am scared to try takeout from here again but will definitely dine in again. read more

Hands down my favorite sushi place in Everett. They're the only ones who do beef udon right. They put more onions than I would like but the flavor and beef they use is good. In hard times and cold times, the beef udon is my comfort food. Their rolls are also pretty solid. I always have to get the calamari and chicken karaage when I go. One time, I ordered dinner for take-out. It was a busy Thursday night. I believe I waited over an hour from the expected time it would be ready. As busy as they were, they were still really attentive, apologetic, and did not forget about us. They offered us complimentary sake and eventually just comped our meal. Very disappointed with Katana for taking it upon themselves to lift the COVID-19 indoor Mask Mandate on March 2. The management didn't want to wait 10 more days until the official day that Governor Inslee set to lift the indoor Mask Mandate. Those of us who are following the rules and care about our health, were caught off guard when we walked in Katana and saw the entire staff not wearing their masks. A staff member said "..management says we don't have to wear our masks anymore". Many of us turned around and left. Will not be coming back anytime soon. Too bad. read more

I was in Everett for a business trip when we decided to swing by Katana for lunch. When we arrived the restaurant appeared to only have a few tables and we were seated right away. The atmosphere was classy yet laid back with an open floor concept; there are a smattering of tasteful decorations and I believe there was a tv or two above the bar. The menu was packed with sushi roll options and boy was I excited to give them a try. Fortunately Yelp photos and comments from other users helped me narrow down my selection. I ordered the Fair Maiden Roll, the Gyoza, and in believe the 12th man roll. I really liked the Fair Maiden but the the gyoza was super undercooked and slimy so I didn't eat it. The 12 man roll was just ok, although it presented beautifully. Service was alright, but it took quite awhile for us to get refills on water and again the place only have 4 tables occupied at the time with staff aplenty. Overall, I would give them another shot but I feel a 3/5 is pretty fair considering. read more

The service is awesome but arrive early for dinner if you don't have a reservation because the wait can be a while....a good sign! The fish is always fresh. Our first time. This place is good but nothing we ate put us in that 4 or 5 zone. We ordered 3 rolls, sukiyaki, and an appetizer. I really like the beefy taste in the sukiyaki. I'm a fan of unagi. I was intrigued about the unagi sauce on 2 of the sushi roles. It was a nice addition if savory or Miami depend5on how you look at it. There was no heat in the spicy roll we ordered. We would come back just to try more menu items. The wait was long. You can't make reservations for less than 3 people...the place was busy on a Wednesday. Service was great. Food was prompt. Went here last night after not being able to find an open table at another local sushi spot. Very glad we did! Definitely recommend getting there early or making a reservation as it was about an hour wait. Service was decent and friendly They were busy so we had follow up on drink refills but not a huge deal. Sushi was delicious! We ordered the spider, E-town, Phoenix rising and shrimp tempura rolls. E-town roll was amazing, highly recommend. Phoenix rising was also a favorite and very tasty with good portions of fish. Prices were fair, one appetizer and four rolls plus two pieces of nigiri was about $60 so not super cheap sushi but was definitely good value for the price. We will be back! read more

Katana Roll - with salmon, avocado, tuna, cucumber, tobiko, and topped with escolar, green onion, and a spicy mayo (escolar melted in my mouth) $13.50 Godzilla Roll - shrimp tempura, cucumber, tobiko, topped with unagi, avocado, and a sauce - something sort of candy sweet and savory, I should have ordered multiple of these $15 Angry Tiger - snow crab, cucumber, avocado, topped with spicy tuna, ebi, jalapeño, a garlic mayo, and eel sauce. Nothing missing here, they have covered all bases. $15 For the price, I think definitely worth it. We placed a call to order to go, and it was ready within 20 minutes or so. This is one of those great independent restaurants in an unexpected place. Traditionally, Everett is not a destination city for food but that is changing. Katana has been around a while and they have outstanding sushi and other offerings. Located very close to I-5. they have easy street parking and a good upscale and laid-back atmosphere in an older building. This is the only sushi bar in the northwest I've been to that offers, fresh wasabi, the stuff from the root and not from a can. They have craft cocktails and excellent sushi chefs. Service is always great, but sometimes you have to be patient because it's a small staff at a busy restaurant. check them out if you want to raise the bar on what you think sushi should be. read more

My bestie and I stopped into Katana for dinner after running a few errands. Free street parking can be found. Credit cards are accepted. Happy Hour is offered throughout the entire restaurant Monday-Friday from 3pm-6pm and from 9pm-close on Friday and Saturday. We each ordered a couple glasses of house Cabernet for $5 each (hh). We shared a House Salad with Miso dressing for $3 (hh): iceberg lettuce, mixed field greens, cucumber and tomatoes. Fresh and tasty. We shared the Chicken Karaage for $4 (hh): Japanese fried chicken bites with spicy mayo. The chicken is dark meat rather than breast meat. Perfectly fried and quite good. We shared the Spicy Tuna Roll (8 pieces) for $5 (hh). Yum. We shared the Heart Attack for $4 (hh): stuffed jalapenos with spicy tuna and cream cheese. A favorite of the night. We ordered and returned the Wasabi Teriyaki Steak Skewers. The steak was tough, cold and under-cooked. All plated were visually pleasing to the eye. Our server was friendly and laid-back. Katana has a vast variety of sushi. Mainly rolls. Which are very creative and always excellent. Fish was very fresh and the tuna was good. Mostly for the price. Sushi is not stuffed with all rice and little fish. Old trick at most of the sushi bars we visit.Not Katana. Very fast service. Staff are friendly and very helpful. Not the most educated staff on the Japanese cuisine. But neither are most of the customers. My family enjoys Katana very much. A welcome addition to Everett. I like the car hoods painted with Japanese art and they have plenty of room around the tables. Not a tight fit. Bathroom was very clean. Important feature when staff serve raw fish. Try it.
