I have been to several of the kashi locations and bellmore is absolutely the best! Their food is amazing, the daily specials are also a perk! I love the late night happy hours on the weekends. The service is SO friendly, you never feel annoying or out of place. The friendly wait staff definitely makes you feel like your at a 5 Star restaurant being treated like a queen. As a true Kashi fan, this location is definitely the predecessor of the Rockville Center location. In true posh Miami Deco fashion the Bellmore location fits right in. Pros: SUPER friendly staff! Met my wife here last night last night for Friday night dinner, definitely worth a trip, just don't expect a buy-back. We started with some shishito peppers, white tuna truffle, and seaweed salad. I always expect the shishito peppers to be spicy, but I guess they take on the flavor of what they are cooked in. All three were great. The white tuna had a slightly odd taste, but not enough to stop eating or not order again. And I've enjoyed it before without issue. As far as the entrees go, we had the stir fry basil chicken and a Yaki Toro roll. I asked for light sauce on the basil chicken, and I got exactly that. Love when that works out. The Yaki Toro roll was on the overwhelming side, ended up having half of it. The description sounded better than what we received. My co-worker was talking about uni at work, we've oddly never tried it so we ordered a couple pieces. The waiter did come back and tell us it was $24 for the pieces, that was nice of him. Glad we tried it, but it's definitely an acquired taste. First bite is great, second chew as well, then sadness happens. But this isn't the fault of the the place, we just didn't like it. We had the usual two bottles of wine @$42 a pop, then a couple of after dinner drinks at $9 per. Would have been nice to get a comped drink when you break $200, but we didn't so have to take a star away for that. The couple next to us was in and out in 30 minutes, water and a ginger ale, that must be the clientele they prefer. Service and ambience were great, service especially. That can be hit or miss. Another reviewer complained about the cost, but you should know what you are getting into before you come. They also have a great happy hour, but be prepared to deal with some idiots. I've never had a bad sushi roll but I have to say that the fire dragon roll is amazingggg - some of my other favorites are the amazing roll, the out of control roll and new tuna. As far as appetizers go I would highly recommend getting the spicy tuna gyoza. The spicy tuna cracker and the sushi pizza are good but nothing I would write home about. I've had both at other local sushi places and the other versions I've had are def better so I was expecting the same type of thing. Overall I would give Kashi a 9/10 and it's one of the go-to places in the merrick/bellmore area The only thing I don't like about Kashi is the valet parking is a bit unnecessary. Cons: There were a ton of servers Literally RUNNING around so be careful if you get up to use the restroom. I almost got ran over and as knocked into 4 times. Sushi is mediocre. Rolls are pretty small. I always order the dynamite roll and usually it looks like it's exploding (hence the name). This was the first time I've ever not been happy with that roll. Ugh, I cannot begin to describe my love for Kashi. I often go to the location in Rockville Centre with the hibachi tables, but this location is right next to my spa, so I go often for lunch. This location does not have hibachi tables; however, they still offer hibachi meals. I must say, they are SO good. Just as good as the hibachi location. I've only come for lunch specials, but they are very good with option of soup or salad. Beyond delicious. I always order the filet mignon and it melts in your mouth. The sushi is also so delicious. Many options. They also have great cocktails (I always get the strawberry Bellini). It's never busy for lunch, and I've always had exceptional service. Check their hours, because they do close mid day and open back up for dinner. Totally recommend, as I crave eating Kashi at least one a week, if I'm being honest. read more

This is one of the best places to have sushi. You have to try the the Allison Roll!!! My friend and I went there and the waitress recommended it, well we just had to go back and have it again!! There calamari is so perfect it's so fresh and the coating is so delicious, you will not be disappointed. Had a horrible experience on 3/12/21, had called earlier in the day to make a reservation they claimed that they did not have it the hostess was extremely rude they told me that I would have to wait 40 minutes for a table because they couldn't find my reservation so I was patient and I understood that until it was almost 2 hours that I waited for a table when the people that were sitting at the bar were there for at least two hours and they didn't even have any food and the people were sitting on top of each other. When I go out for Japanese food the one thing I absolutely demand is FRESH! I had dined at this establishment and I was disappointed. I had heard good things and walking in my expectations were high. Reservation time was honored. The six of us were squeezed into a cozy little booth and ordered drinks. Waited very patiently until finally our drinks showed up. Then ordered apps, the short rib app, petite fillet and the fillet carpaccio were very good albeit small portions for the price. The avocado roll, was forgettable. Again waited quite some time for our second round of drinks and ordered dinner. This is where this place fell short. Stay away from anything on the hibachi selection. Meat was mediocre and a very small portion, shrimp was clearly pre cooked much earlier, not freshly made and was terrible and the veggies were cold in spite if the fact that I asked for them well done. I sent mine back and figured I'de play is safe and order a shrimp tempura roll. Roll was to large to fit in my mouth and I was more then disappointed when it did lol. Pre cooked, pre made, battered coating was actually soggy, not freshly made. My friend had a spicy tuna roll that he said was very good but then again he was hammered. Maybe a good idea to stick to sushi. The waitress knew I was not happy and took my food off the check although that's not what I wanted. I wanted to pay for good food. One last thing, it was early on a Friday night, we all had a long week and were looking forward to a nice meal. They started blasting house music at the bar. In the restaurant all you herd was booming base. Can't figure out what they were thinking, um restaurant, not a club. Maybe catering to the large crowd of screaming college girls. Idk. Stopped at LaPiazza on the way home and grabbed a slice. Summary, a very factory like experience. As a rookie in Sushi, and personally speaking with Food Critic (Instagram - @hungry_hippea) suggested to go to Kashi in Bellmore. We went this pass Tuesday August 25, 2020. Unknowingly we needed reservation, The young lady and gentleman (think they where the Managers) at the desk, worked hard to get us a table, and they did. That right there was a Check mark for me, doing what that could do to satisfied a customer. The table was myself and wife, daughter and boyfriend. The server was (Karen) was fantastic. She was there for every question and suggestion. We all ordered different items, in which we all shared. American Dream, Paradise, Seared Pepper Tuna Jalapeno, Spicy Yellow Tail, Tuna Avocado, and rack of lamb. all meals where fantastic. Very Clean and followed all rules for Social Distancing. I will admit, that I am a sushi snob. I have 2 places that am my go to, and it would take a lot for me to change that up. Kashi missed the mark. It is a very nice new place. Very clean. Very loud though, and it peeves me they have valet parking in a decent size parking lot. As my husband said, why do I have to get out of my car, tip someone, only to have them park literally 2 feet away from me. We went on a Friday with no reservation, and they kind of looked at us like 'really?' when we said no, but they still accomodated us. Sat at a booth in the bar. It was so loud. Anyway, the food...we stared with the edammame, which was good. We each then had the ginger dressing salad, which was very good. Sometimes restaurants miss the mark with the dressing, but this was a huge salad and the dressing was great. Then we ordered 5 rolls, and my husband and son had some sushi. The sushi was fresh. We ordered 3 special rolls and 2 regular. When you charge that enormous price for 'special' rolls, then they should be special. These were just average and not at all the size of what I would consider special. The fish all tasted fresh, but there was really no flavor to any of them. They were all pretty bland. I left pretty disappointed, but I will say this. We ordered the chicken tempura for my son, and it was outstanding. I am getting the impression that this place has hit the mark on their regular kitchen food, so we are going to give it another shot and just not eat the sushi. read more

Update...I spoke with the manager Tia the following day and let her know what occured the previous night...She invited us back for the following Monday (which would be today) and bought us our entire dinner. We had the same waitress to give her another chance and she was great! Thank you Tia for correcting the wrong. We went here last night. Mondays are two signature rolls for $20. We arrived around 6:40. We were told 10 to 15 mins. We were not seated until after 7pm. That was understandable with it being so busy. We were seated and not one person came by. After about 15 mins I had to ask for water. We waited further and waved down a waitress to ask if someone was going to help us. She apologized and said she didn't realize it was her table. We placed our entire order which included drinks, appetizer and our rolls. We continued to wait an additional 15 mins and no drinks or appetizer. I was able to get our waitresses attention and she apologized and said she would check on our drinks. More time went by (another 10 mins) and I got up and went to her and asked her if we were going to get our drinks and food. We were seated at this point for well over half an hour with NOTHING! Again she said she would check on our drinks. I sat back down and the hostess came by to see if we wanted more water and I explained to her how long we were sitting without our drinks/appetizer. Finally, after speaking with her we got our drinks and appetizer. Then our rolls?! We weren't served our dinner until well after 8pm. They made a mistake with one of my rolls and she told me that they were making it over. We both finished out rolls that were brought out. Then the waitress brought my other roll around 9pm! Really? We finished eating and the waitress asked if we wanted dessert. We declined and she walked away. Now we had to track her down again after about 10 mins for the check. I went up to her to explain how disappointed we were in the service. All she did was apologize. They didnt take care of our drinks or anything. The food was delicious but the service was absolutely horrendous. I've been here many times but this was the worst experience I have ever had at any restaurant. Not even worth the 1 star...I feel I will be finding another sushi restaurant and not return to Kashi. Very very disappointed. read more

I now go to Kashi very often, because of how amazing it is. I get the true feeling of a nice, Japanese family dinner. The majority of the staff is very friendly, kind and helpful. Every time we go there, we hope to see Tia. She's really nice and helpful. Also, you don't have to crazily struggle to get the staff to understand what you are saying. The food is great, with flavorful tastes, and beautiful presentation. The food is served on time, and don't have trouble understanding special orders. The menu also has a pretty good variety, and some original dishes. Also the deserts are amazing, like the fried Oreos and the mochi. We will definitely keep coming back here read more

Went to KashiJapanese with my boyfriend today! Traveled a bit to get here, but it was so worth it. The staff was so friendly, and constantly checked up on us. I dropped my chopsticks and by the time I picked it up our waiter brought more! The food was also delicious. Our favorite was the cracked lobster signature roll. In addition, my boyfriend had a coupon for his birthday the app granted him (which was last week). After hearing this they brought out fried ice cream on the house without us even asking! The decor is really nice. The bar is a little small. Service and Sushi was wonderful!! Sometimes, there was a bit of a language barrier with our server, but we got through it, and regardless of that, they were very attentive. I'll say it again, sushi was wonderful! The Martinis are not very strong. How do I know this? Because I had bunch of them and could still walk when I left.
