She intuitively knew exactly which areas needed extra attention and worked through tension I didn't even realize I was holding. I've had the privilege of getting multiple massages throughout the years at different places with various techniques. I thought my massage at the Four Seasons in Westlake was going to be as good as it'll ever get (top tier). I'm thankful to be proven wrong with Maria's massage! I'm still blown away. BISH. RUN DONT WALK This woman. Is f*cking incredible. I want her all to myself but also I want to support her business so everyone should go to her. It's her own business so there is no other masseuse, just her. She does appointments only and is super responsive to messages. I texted on Labor Day and was really surprised I got a response back. The storefront is in a small plaza and there is no sign outside but don't be alarmed! The set up inside is like any other massage place and since it's by appointment only you get the space all to yourself. No worrying about hearing or being around other people. I've just came back from a trip and my body needed some work. I also clench and grind my teeth so much so the other day it hurt to chew an apple and I've grounded my back molars down to exposing my cavities that were filled ages ago. And yes I am going to the dentist to get a night guard and get it checked. All to say I have no idea what a relaxed jaw feels like and let me tell you... my jaw feels like a cloud :,) I also carry a lot of stress in my neck (because of clenching) and between my shoulders (they're pretty crunchy) and I feel like I'm floating :,) Not everyone is a talker during a massage but I ended up striking a conversation with her and just loved her so much afterwards. She was so loving and kind throughout our conversation. I wish I could put the crying emoji because she has such a beautiful soul. She also was really communicative asking about how much pressure to apply, problem areas to focus on, and explaining every movement to me since I was a new client. I am absolutely coming to her for all my massage needs. SUPPORT HER. SHES AMAZING. I know I'm hyping this up but I really did have such a positive experience and my jaw feels so much better, I didn't think it was gunna do anything but she alleviated so much tension. read more

First time with Maria - have spinal disc issues and neck issues. She was unbelievably good in every way. No nonsense and yet relaxing attention to every issue I had and even some I had no idea about. I could go on and on, but trying to be brief - she was so amazing, I went back 3 days later with my husband. We are leaving on a month long rv trip and I wanted to get as much therapy in as I could. I've been to Maria 2 times now and don't see myself going to anyone else! I found her on google after going to several people before, trying to find the right person. Room is always nice and clean, smells like essential oils, and has therapeutic music playing. She makes you feel very comfortable and gets the areas that need extra work. Amazing massage!! I am extremely particular when it comes to massages mainly due to my high physical activity (running, cycling and swimming). I need the right type of tension (deep) to help my muscles and joints. Maria is by far one of the best masseuse I have been to ( and I have been to many). "Why 5 stars when you have never so much as stepped foot in this space," you ask? Because I know what exceptional service and quality work are, and Maria is at the top of the massage therapy game. I have an extraordinary woman in my life who always looks out for others before herself. I needed a gift that rivaled this woman's spirit and was worthy of her time, as she does not have it to waste. Plus, at the time, I was trying to impress this fine woman. My problem was that I live in the Bay Area and know no therapists in Oxnard. So, I called a couple of knowledgeable friends in L.A. for some help and Karuna Massage was mentioned. I contacted Maria to schedule a massage, and instantly knew my lady would be in good hands. Maria was responsive, professional, pleasant, and knowledgeable. The whole process was quick and easy; exactly what I needed. We found a time for a 60-minute Swedish massage that I thought would work and the gift was set. The appointed day arrived and after the massage was complete, my lady called and told me how wonderfully relaxed and taken care of she felt. She went on about how skilled Maria is, how she worked the tension away, and how comfortable she felt in her care. Points scored! The whole experience went so well that I had my lady set up for a 90-minute deep tissue next, you know, just to see if Maria was really that good. As sure as the sun rises, Maria is consistent: professional, easy to work with from a distance, and provided high quality service. Suffice to say, my lady called afterward telling me how amazing Maria is and how she has never felt so taken care of before. Did I mention 'points being scored' ? The bottom line is, if you value your time, your sanity, and health or those of another, get thee to Karuna Massage. It's the local island get away. read more

Maria is heaven sent. I went to her years back and then just recently came across her again and I'm so glad I did. First off, she accommodated me last minute since I was experiencing a horrible tension headache and she got me in for an appointment within a day. Beyond that, she seems to be so aware of the human anatomy...she knows exactly how to move her hands, arms and elbows through and across muscles and work into the tightest areas. Finding a good masseuse is like coming across gold...in my opinion, Maria is the gold! read more

I tweaked my back out and the pain was affecting me every waking hour of the day and I was getting less and less sleep each night. When I realized I was not going to get any better without help I started browsing Yelp and found nothing but good things to say about this place. Marie was pleasant and spent a few minutes asking questions and determining where to focus her efforts. My massage was wonderful! She not only eased the pain where I had directed her but found several other hot spots and worked her magic there as well. I am a big guy and it takes a fair amount of strength to manipulate my muscles when they are tight. Marie was able to reach deep enough get to the core of each and every knot. Maria is wonderful! It takes a combination of experience, intuition and strength to be effective as a massage therapist and she has all three. I have been dealing with limited range of motion and pain in my elbow for several years and found no relief with my doctor, chiropractor or other massage therapists over that time. By the second session with Maria I had a dramatic reduction in pain and have gained a little more range. I am more than impressed with the progress in such a short period.
