REVIEW: I was finishing up at Firehouse Subs and knew it was time for some self-care. First timer here and it was a fine enough visit. It was a basic experience. I opted for a foot massage and it was just OK. I see the many 5 star reviews here and am not sure what I missed, but I probably won't be back for a second visit, just for me personally. I was greeted after a moment or two; I asked about the pricing for the foot massages, and then a gentleman gave me the most basic foot massage. I should have spoken up, but he was rubbing my feet as compared to massaging them. If you're in the area, give them a try. You might have a more memorable experience than I did.

They didn't harass me over tips, which I appreciate. I always tip fairly in my opinion and I know it can be a thing elsewhere. It was annoying when some other worker came up to the person giving a massage and started a conversation loudly, also playing videos. Very inconsiderate and she looked at me like I was the rude one when I said calmly, "can you please do that later?". As a customer, I shouldn't have to do that. The person giving the massage should at least tell them to stop.

The first thing that I noticed when entering the building is that the entire place needs a deep cleaning from the bathroom that had a poor excuse for watered down soap. What are they washing their hands with? Right before she started the massage, I had a weird feeling and again asked the rate. She said $60 an hour and I told her that they told me $50 on the phone, she denied it and I said whatever, OK. The room was not clean the table was dingy and needs to be replaced. I wanted to leave in the first 45 minutes but decided to stay since my girlfriend was already in the other room getting her massage. Even though I asked for a hard massage when the woman asked, she could only give me light pressure, I kept asking for more pressure and she said Ok, but there was no change. She kept leaving the room to greet new customers, turning doorknobs and answering calls, without washing her hands. With all the ins and outs and calls, in the end, she ended up giving me about a 35 minute massage and stopped at the 50 minute mark and tried to charge me for an hour. The other woman who massaged my girlfriend went to ring us up and tried to auto add tips, I told her that I wasn't paying for a full hour when my massage was under 45 minutes. After 5 minutes of uncomfortable back and forth I ended up paying $50 and tipping $10 and leaving feeling more stressed than when I came. Avoid this place at all costs.

This massage store is in a small stand alone building with very limited parking, but there was parking both times I did go. When I walked in I was greeted by a smiling, happy Chinese lady. The facility seemed clean and tidy. The cheerful lady gave me a good massage, helping to work out some knots in my back and shoulders. I was happy with the massage to a point. I ALWAYS check the time when they start and expect that the hour is 60 minutes. At about 45 to 48 minutes two customers arrived, and the other lady working here started a loud conversation in Mandarin. Well, I could already see the way this was going. At 53 minutes the therapist told me OK after the annoying slapping that so many of these massage ladies do. Now here is where I guess I was a dick, but I called her on the seven minutes and started talking about my hour should be 60 minutes. Bla Bla Bla, she tells me about the other customer. I don't give a shit because I was there first and paid for the hour. She wanted to argue and I did not leave. If she is going to beat me out of seven minutes then I will occupy the room . At some point the other customer leaves, she is not smiling or happy now. She did return me $10, I took that and a five and tipped her. Second time I went here she seemed irritated, (I wonder why?). She did charge me $50 for this massage as well. And she showed me the time on her phone before the massage started and after. It was an hour. I am not sure if she is irritated or if she is like that. But I do know she gives a good massage and it is just down the street from my hotel. No funny business here just legitimate therapeutic massage.

5 Stars Impressive bodywork, thoughtful attention to detail,…read moreand prices you can't beat. Bamboo Creek Chinese Spa in Santa Paula just became my non-negotiable monthly reset. I've had massages all over -- from Los Angeles to high-end spas -- and this experience exceeded all expectations. I booked a combination session: deep tissue, hot stone, reflexology, and lymphatic -- and the attention to detail in every single modality was incredible. * Deep tissue: They worked with focused intensity, not just "pressing hard" but skillfully targeting the exact areas where tension lived -- especially in my back, shoulders, and neck. You could tell the therapist knew the body's anatomy and how to unlock muscle groups with precision. * Reflexology: This wasn't a generic foot rub -- this was intentional pressure point work that followed the full reflex map. I could literally feel the connection from my feet to other parts of my body. * Lymphatic massage: Gentle, rhythmic movements that supported circulation and detox. It's something so many of us overlook, but they made it part of the healing experience seamlessly. I also found out they offer cupping, and I'll absolutely be trying that next time. It's rare to find a location that integrates so many modalities at this level of skill -- and especially at these prices. I've posted a photo of the updated price sheet -- and trust me, you won't find rates like this in LA or any luxury spa. It's affordable, consistent, and you walk away feeling like your entire body has been rebalanced. Another standout detail? When you check in, they let you customize the session based on your needs and pressure preference. I chose a level 4-5, knowing I needed deeper work (especially with fibromyalgia), and while I'll likely be sore tomorrow, I feel 100% better already. Bonus: They also have a sister location in Ojai -- so even if you're traveling nearby, you have options. This place is a hidden gem, and I'm so incredibly grateful to have it right here in Santa Paula. If you're ready to take your self-care seriously, this is where you start.

REVIEW: This is a rough update to write and I have been sitting on it for a little bit. First and foremost, even with c 19 and the whole "not using cash as much" thing, Bamboo Creek Spa prefers cash. I get it. But, sadly I didn't have cash on me at this time. Their sign that states the $2 fee for credit card use had fallen down near the check-out. I didn't know/nor did I expect the $2 fee. Honestly, I would have come back another day with cash had I known what I was going to experience after the massage. Massage was OK. Good, I guess. Huge language barrier unfortunately, so when I asked the woman for lighter pressure, she didn't appear to understand what I asked for and continued w/out a change. I asked her again a 2nd time for lighter pressure (I used a hand gesture hoping that would work) and it did. But, then she eased up too much and she was only lightly rubbing my feet with her fingertips. Meh. Had there not been such an issue with a language barrier I probably could have rated 4 stars. At checkout is where things went south. I was prepared, and expected to pay with my card and was going to tip her in cash. When the lady was about to ring me up she then included the $2 service charge, to my shock. (Now, I get the whole thing. This is not a place to argue discuss the sad state of our present world. My issue and great concern is that I was not told or informed a head of time about it.) This lady called for another employee and they began talking in their native language. The 2nd lady then took over my transaction and I felt bullied and attacked for my financial choice of how I wanted to proceed with payment once I was aware of the $2 service fee. It was a pretty good massage, otherwise.

She was amazing but she moved out of state recently and of course I was forced to try someone new. Went to Coco a couple of times and she was just as amazing. Coco was booked tonight (she's the manager) and so she suggested that I book with Lisa which is who I was suppose to get a massage with only to have a bait and switch when I arrived and had to go to Amy instead. I was peeved but decided to trust Coco since she knows me and what I like. I thought I'd be in good hands (no pun intended). Amy gave the worst massage I have ever had. She asked if I wanted light or medium. I like medium touch but honestly she was just rubbing skin, barely applying any pressure, slapping on oil. and phoning it in. But the kicker was towards the end of the massage, she puts cloves on to massage my feet, NEVER have I had a body massage with cloves on (except a pedicure). AND, this is AFTER she massaged my body with her bare hands the whole time. Makes no sense. THEN, she took paper towels and rubbed the oil off of my feet which felt like sand paper scrapping my skin off. I really should have just stopped the massage so it's partly my fault for letting her continue. BUT, I figured I would just tip her less and call it day. I've always tipped 30% on average, EXCEPT for tonight when I handed her a 10% tip, (honestly I wanted to leave no tip). She pointed to the NEW tip chart with a range saying she wanted more. I was livid. My intention was to be quiet about this b/c I've been going here for so long and I figured one bad massage over the years wasn't worth the complaint BUT b/c AMY forced the issue, I was forced to let her know (and now you, here on yelp) that it was the worst massage I have ever had and b/c she demanded more of tip, she needed to know that is the REAL issue and she got exactly what she gave. I told her that I've been a client for 6 years and I will never come back again. I will make sure all of my associates and friends in Ventura never step foot in this establishment again. On top of it, I had one of those punch cards for every massage you get, it adds up to a free foot massage which was almost full. Amy grabbed it and said she'd give it to me at the end of the massage. Needless to say I didn't get it back. LOL. Not that it matters now cause they lost a long time client. Oh & btw; I'm a licensed Massage Therapist myself for 24 years so I'm very careful with feedback b/c everyone has their own style and touch. Its subjective. Right? In all the years as a Massage Therapist, I've never demanded that a client tip me more. And that's the issue. The quality of service is determined by the discretion of the client. Period. And if this business requires a "set tip" then it needs to be built into the price of the massage. This tipping chart is brand new btw and I was completely unaware until I decided tip below what I normally give.
