I've been going here for 6 years. I suppose I had a good run while it lasted BUT, I will never EVER go back again. Monica was my gal. She was amazing but she moved out of state recently and of course I was forced to try someone new. Went to Coco a couple of times and she was just as amazing. Coco was booked tonight (she's the manager) and so she suggested that I book with Lisa which is who I was suppose to get a massage with only to have a bait and switch when I arrived and had to go to Amy instead. I was peeved but decided to trust Coco since she knows me and what I like. I thought I'd be in good hands (no pun intended). Amy gave the worst massage I have ever had. She asked if I wanted light or medium. I like medium touch but honestly she was just rubbing skin, barely applying any pressure, slapping on oil. and phoning it in. But the kicker was towards the end of the massage, she puts cloves on to massage my feet, NEVER have I had a body massage with cloves on (except a pedicure). AND, this is AFTER she massaged my body with her bare hands the whole time. Makes no sense. THEN, she took paper towels and rubbed the oil off of my feet which felt like sand paper scrapping my skin off. I really should have just stopped the massage so it's partly my fault for letting her continue. BUT, I figured I would just tip her less and call it day. I've always tipped 30% on average, EXCEPT for tonight when I handed her a 10% tip, (honestly I wanted to leave no tip). She pointed to the NEW tip chart with a range saying she wanted more. I was livid. My intention was to be quiet about this b/c I've been going here for so long and I figured one bad massage over the years wasn't worth the complaint BUT b/c AMY forced the issue, I was forced to let her know (and now you, here on yelp) that it was the worst massage I have ever had and b/c she demanded more of tip, she needed to know that is the REAL issue and she got exactly what she gave. I told her that I've been a client for 6 years and I will never come back again. I will make sure all of my associates and friends in Ventura never step foot in this establishment again. On top of it, I had one of those punch cards for every massage you get, it adds up to a free foot massage which was almost full. Amy grabbed it and said she'd give it to me at the end of the massage. Needless to say I didn't get it back. LOL. Not that it matters now cause they lost a long time client. Oh & btw; I'm a licensed Massage Therapist myself for 24 years so I'm very careful with feedback b/c everyone has their own style and touch. Its subjective. Right? In all the years as a Massage Therapist, I've never demanded that a client tip me more. And that's the issue. The quality of service is determined by the discretion of the client. Period. And if this business requires a "set tip" then it needs to be built into the price of the massage. My massage was amazing and had a really great massage experience. I tipped 20 % and when I gave them the money they pointed to the wall and said they wanted more money in tip. I told them if they expect a certain amount of money they should include that in the price and not depend on people leaving a 40 % tip. Doesn't make any sense. I had a great massage. Nothing amazing, but I felt relaxed and loosened up. I never got the woman's name and it wasn't the woman who set me up in the room. Weird. Anyway, I was told $18 was 20% on class pass and I brought a $20 bill to tip my therapist. When I handed her the $20 she pointed to a sign saying a tip for a 90 min massage should be $25-$30. I told her I didn't even bring my wallet because I read $18 was the suggested tip on class pass. I do hair and I would never do this to a client. I don't know why they expect a higher percentage and will argue with you about it. Don't worry, they told me I could tip extra next time! I have been going here for almost seven years. I've tried Lily, Monica, Coco, and a few others. They are all licensed massage therapists and know their stuff. But for the past two years Amy has been my favorite massage therapist here. She does a really great job of working the knots out of my muscles. And her foot massage is so relaxing, it makes me start to drift off to sleep. There have not been any tipping issues. I think all of the massage therapists here work pretty hard for their money, so I tend to tip a little more generously than average, adjusting up for exceptional service. read more

My friend and I went to get a massage last week. She text to schedule us an appointment and when we arrived they had us go into the couples room. It wasn't what we anticipated but we didn't say anything and got onto our tables. I had a very young appearing masseuse and I asked her to go harder or firmer three times, she did not understand. I even asked the other masseuse in the room to tell my masseuse to use more pressure but she still did not. My friend's masseuse decided to fart, 4 times during the massage. When we went to pay and leave, the "manager" at the front suggested that the $5 tip that was offered was not enough and said "you can leave another" pointing to the cash in hand. I said, no that's fine we do not want to. She then proceeded to ask if we did not like the service to which I replied, "no we didn't." Clearly this place has changed hands recently, because the man who is usually there was no where to be found. Although I know this isn't a spa or nice massage parlor, it is not worth the $55. read more

Wow, what a wonderful experience my partner and I had here! We made an appointment for a one-hour combo massage and they were able to accommodate us on the same day and for the time we wanted. The spa was clean and relaxing. The masseuses asked us if we wanted soft, medium, or hard pressure - which I appreciated because some places don't ask that and I generally like a softer massage. My masseuse did a wonderful job covering every inch of my body and used her whole body, elbows and all, to get all of the knots. She even provided a hot stone rub down which felt SO GOOD! I 120% recommend Coco for an amazing, high intensity, deep tissue massage and pain relief. Personally, I preferred Coco's massage for my needs, whereas a different massage therapist did not quite serve me (different for everyone). Hubby couldn't handle the intensity Coco offered. So again, it just depends on your condition or what you seek! I have chronic back pain and tension. Listen, the second Coco's blessed hands touched my back, I knew it was going to be a great massage and I knew I was in for a treat. From vast experience on a massage table, I know the first 30 seconds of any massage will give away the quality of your rest of the time there. Me being in Relax n Spa is hands-down the BEST experience that I need for immediate relief and self-care. I feel so fortunate to have found this place close to home. Coco's hands and talent is a blessing and I mean that from the bottom of my heart. She has a gift, and I genuinely believe people like Coco are here with a gift to serve others like myself. When I go to any other place, I may get some temporarily relief but with Coco, I get long-term relief. It makes me happy knowing that if I go, say, in January, I won't be needing to return until May for another relief massage...with other places, you'll find me aching again only 4 weeks after the massage. Relax n Spa is the place to go. You need to give it a try!! I've done massages all over--poolside in Hawaii, Las Vegas in luxury hotels, places with common names like Massage Envy-- nothing compares to Relax n Spa because this one is the best. It's holistic . It's talent that has been taught through generations. It's amazing. For those complaints about the privacy or lack of, including the receptionist or lack of, it seems to me they need to go to Massage Envy or some other corporate place. This is a small family owned business, not a franchise! I would much rather get an incredible massage in a room with humble, traditional curtains that only represents the culture of the family that owns the business versus inside a black and white modern room with cute furniture and a mediocre massage. I care more about the massage, not the pretty environment, because at the end of the day, the massage is what I'm there for. Again. If you're coming here, be prepared to come straight to a room for what you come for and that's it. If the masseuse needs to give a shout to another staff over her shoulder for whatever reason, but has the talent to continue her work on you regardless, so be it? If you're being mindful during your massage as you should be, you won't notice the wild things others are mentioning. I enjoyed the massage itself but immensely regret it now due to the hot stones. At maybe 30 minute into the massage, hot stones were placed on top of a towel on me. Masseuse should have warned me she planned to place these scalding porous stones directly on my skin prior to doing so. Now I had to go to urgent care and get antibiotics for what looks like a staph infection that is taking over my back. Got burned by the hot stone and less than a week later got a boil and cellulitis where the hot stones were used. read more

Wow, wow, wow, wowwww!!! Hands down would recommend this place 100xs to anyone. They were able to book me the same day and the masseuse knew *exactly* how to get all my knots out around my shoulder blade area and shoulders. Just the right pressure to feel deep pressure but also in a gentle way. Absolutely incredible massage!! I did a 1 hour combo of back and feet and left there having lifted loads of tightness. Good customer service but by far the worst massage I've ever gotten. The masseuse walked in and immediately tried to pull off my ponytail. I asked her not to. She began to rub my back and arms with no rhyme or technique. After about 10 minutes of the exact same movement, I asked her to focus on my neck and shoulders. She did, but the movements had bo purpose and targeted nothing in particular. Her movements were very fast and aggressive and I was rocking side to side so hard that I had to ask her to stop. The place has always been hit or miss, but when I went Friday, it was a big miss. The woman working there appeared to be alone. All the foot massage chairs had been used and not cleaned, except for 2. I was charged in advance, and I tipped in advance. She continued to answer the phone during mj hy massage, and she moved her hands so quickly and so roughly that it was not relaxing at all, just uncomfortable. Read many reviews and since this place wasn't that far and good price point to experience their service without feeling wasting my time and money just in case it turned out to be awful. Got 30 min foot massage and 30 minute body for $35 and got $5 discount with yelp check in. It was mostly rubbing her (masseuse) hands and arms un and down different parts of my body without hitting different areas. It was better than nothing experience but felt I wasted my time there. This was the worst massage I have ever received. I have had numerous massages in the past and decided to try this place out...what a mistake. The masseuse did not know how to massage, it was though she just watched a movie that showed someone massaging and she guessed how to do it. She rubbed too rough, too fast and was sloppy. It was not relaxing and I ended up bouncing against the table. She then hit me several times, which provided no relaxing or therapeutic element. The facility doesn't have individual rooms, the walls only go up about 7 feet and the "doors" are curtains. When the receptionist answered the phone, I could hear the conversation and it did not help the masseuse yelled to the receptionist during the conversation (and during my massage). I usually don't write reviews, but this experience was so horrible, I decided to write and warn others. Do yourself a favor and pick another place for a massage. I left a Google review for this place and the owner accused me of being a fake review, unfortunately this is a real review and I was there, I wish I hadn't been. read more

OMG. I feel like I have been beat up! This woman was rushing through the entire "massage" if you could call it that. I told her I could come later, but she insisted. When I got there she gave me scalding hot water for my feet and then disap15 minutes. Turns out she was scarfing down her lunch. I felt horrible. I told her she should have a lunch. I don't want to rush her. Then she proceeded to keep the super fast paced throughout the whole thing I kept telling her lighter (and I usually like a firm massage) but this was just painful. Then she topped it all off with scalding hot rocks. They make you pay before hand. I probably would've walked out the beginning. I asked her at the end was it supposed to be relaxing?
