This small space is inviting and warm. The staff is knowledgeable and explains things well. We did…read morethe chef's tasting with the paired wines and it was over the top! Our server, Jess was amazing!

For my birthday, my brother gave me a gift card to Mink, so we decided to ring in the new year by…read morefinally giving it a try--and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. As others have mentioned, seating is somewhat limited, but that only adds to the excellent service and intimate experience. I wish I remembered the names of our server and the manager because they were incredibly kind, accommodating, and helpful throughout the evening. One example of the thoughtful service: I was torn between two white wines, and since my partner ordered one of them, our server offered to bring a small sample of the other so I could compare and choose what I liked best. We also mentioned that we had never tried caviar before but didn't want to commit to a larger portion. They suggested a "bump" for $5 each, walked us through how to enjoy it properly (on the hand, letting it warm slightly), and made the experience feel fun and approachable. We were seated at the bar, which gave us the opportunity to chat more with the server and manager and watch the team prepare dishes for other tables. It genuinely felt like sitting at the chef's table. We both opted for the tasting menu, which changes from time to time, and we were very happy with the selection. We also added the lobster roll, and our server thoughtfully timed it so we could enjoy it alongside the warmer course. The meal began with two different oysters, one topped with caviar, giving us another chance to enjoy it. Next was the shrimp cocktail, which included wasabi--but not in an overpowering way. The flavor was present yet balanced, allowing everything else to shine. The escargot course was especially creative and delicious, paired with basil oil, pepper jelly, and hints of balsamic. While it might sound unusual, the flavors blended beautifully. I expected the pepper jelly to dominate, but it was surprisingly subtle. Next was the potato pavé served with a scallop. The textures were remarkably similar, and the scallop was cooked perfectly. The lobster roll was very good, though I personally found the bread a bit denser than I prefer--I usually like a more buttery, Texas-toast style--but my partner loved it. The turbot followed, accompanied by a chestnut beurre blanc that was incredibly silky and flavorful. It paired wonderfully with the king trumpet mushrooms, black truffle and the fish. The final tasting course was the petit fours: three small cakes--matcha, red velvet, and ginger molasses. They were slightly dense, but still a nice way to end the meal. We also added the house-made basil ice cream (because the basil oil earlier was so good), and that was an excellent decision. Although my birthday had been a few months earlier, once the staff heard we were using a birthday gift card, they surprised me with vanilla ice cream, sprinkles, and a candle--such a thoughtful and unexpected touch. They also treated us to a small glass of dessert wine. By the end of the night, we knew we had found our new favorite place to celebrate. The overall experience is absolutely worth the price point, and I only wish more places were like Mink. We can't wait to return.

I'll preface my review ONY for my first experience. One should go back a few times to truly get a…read morepicture of a place. I can only review my one experience at this point. I was with a friend from out of town and seeking to try 'something different' in Tecumseh - different being other than Fong's or Kabobgy or Pat & Hank's, for dinner and a drink. We went in to a brightly lit place at 5:30 this Dec. Personally a warmer dimmer light would have been more 'pub' like. We were shown to a table and while we were still standing and just getting our coats off, we were asked if we wanted some drinks. I don't know whether to say that's good service or overzealous or just inexperienced. That dais I should have blurted something out because we didn't see our server again for about 5-7 minutes after sitting down. Before we could get drinks we receive a menu and then had to wait another 5-7 minutes before our server came back. I was told their selection of draft was on the table (one of those triangle things) and I ordered their house brew. In fact there were several beers on tap, he just didn't know what they were. If you have any taste for beer at all, I would not recommend their house brew, it's bland, generic, not worth it. I ordered fish and chips (sweet potatoe) and my friend ordered some vegetarian dish. Our food took a while to receive. The fish was nice and crispy, fairly warm. The fries were not sweet potatoe, they were regular and warm. Ordinarily I'd ask for what I ordered back and hot, but given how long it took to get our dinner I didn't. My friend was 'meh' about her veggie dish and her fries were not fresh either. We waited so long for our server to come back to see how we're doing, and eventually, for the bill, I actually got up to see if I could flag him down in the kitchen. Eventually we left and went to the bar. I'm rating my first experience 2 stars for service and food and ambiance. It'd be great to have a better experience in subsequent visits. Pub owners over here should go to the UK to see what pubs are really like and then try make a more authentic effort. At the very minimum, have smart staff and focus on good traditional pub fare.

So one of our friends is a manager of this location, but I had never been there before (my wife had…read morebeen there multiple times). Anyway, a few days ago my wife and I along with another couple were there for a late night dinner and drinks. They have a good selection of beer on tap, my wife and I ordered appetizers and the other couple each ordered a different entrée. All four of us agreed that the food was fine, and we enjoyed the atmosphere. I'd definitely come back the next time I'm in town.
