My boyfriend and I went here on a Friday after work on a, rare, warm spring day. I thought it was going to be super packed because of the proximity to the RiverWalk. I was very wrong. It was empty. I wasn't necessarily looking for a party vibe. I just like seeing Black owned businesses being patronized. The staff were also surprised. Brix is so pretty and everything is well appointed and just perfectly executed. The deep red hues make everything feel rich. Brick reminds me of several of the mid - higher end winery interiors in Napa. We had the red and the white wine tours. Both came with several large pours of their selection. The sommelier was knowledgeable and there was only one option we didn't care for. They don't serve food - food but you can order food to be delivered. We brought snacks and got some chips. I love wine. I will definitely be back either just to go or for one of the many special events that are hosted at the space.

Love the venue. Went for an art exhibit. The ladies working the bar were running their a**es off but I don't think they expected the big turnout. Great bar. Well stocked with plenty of enticing options. LOVE their wine glasses. Classy crowd.

Picture this...you put on a nice outfit and decided to do dinner at Steve's Soul food by the riverfront. You get there a little too early and don't know what to do with your date. A block away is this diamond hidden inside a block of apartments on Franklin st. It's so cute and cozy inside and there is a wine for anyone inside! Not to mention, you are immediately greeted by staff when you first enter so if you want a pregame, wind down, or even become a monthly member well we have a phenomenal wine spot right off the riverfront!

Waitress asked if I had any allergies, I said no but my friend joining me soon was gluten free. My friend still had to specifically request the gluten free menu when she got there, after looking at the regular menu & not finding any markings of what food was gluten free. It would have been nice if the waitress had just brought it right away. I had the lunch size Gnocchi Carbonara, which was delicious! I did have the suggested wine pairing, which was very good with my food. And what a great idea to offer some lunch sized portions of some of the dishes (ends at 3pm). My friend had the gluten free grilled mahi mahi sandwich & side of Asian slaw, which she enjoyed. They weren't super busy & we sat quite awhile to chat. Really enjoyed it & will definitely go back. Looking forward to trying some of the other menu items!

But I found it odd that the bar didn't have any chairs. Our server (I think his name was Darren, or something like that?) was very good. He explained about the bin numbers next to the entree descriptions and was just generally kind and helpful. Several people ordered salads, and they looked very good. I had the Parmesan crusted chicken from their Life Balance section. I enjoyed it very much. I don't usually like warm tomatoes, but the ones in this dish were really good. Honestly, I'm surprised that this was a lower calorie dish, as it certainly was plentiful, filling and satisfying.

The ambiance is inviting and intimate...the perfect spot for a date night or outing with friends. We skipped their famous pretzel bread and started off with the GF Thai Lettuce wraps as an appetizer which was delicious especially with the 3 different sauces they were served with. The peanut sauce was my favorite....rich, savory, and slightly sweet similar to a satay sauce. I had the Sangria wine flight and loved all the four flavors....tropical, fruity and sweet. For my entree i had the shrimp & scollop risotto and it was just ok. The shrimp and scallops were cooked and seared perfectly but the risotto tasted a little dry. I had the same dish at the Troy location and it was covered in a flavorful sauce and was not dry. I left most of it unfinished and chose not to tell the server about it, but was disappointed. Thank goodness for ordering an appetizer! My friend had the Dana's Parmesan Chicken and said it was exceptionally delicious. Our server gets an A+ for making sure we enjoyed our meal. He was attentive, made great recommendations and checked in with us throughout. However when I go to the Troy location, we are always offered to sample the featured wine of the month before ordering our drinks and wasn't here. I don't even know what the feature wine of March is because it wasn't even mentioned by our server. Overall, a lovely dinning experience but this wasn't the 5+ star rating the Troy location has in comparison.

There are animals to pet, wide open views, and it's right on their property but designed in a way that still feels like a public space. I wanted to keep loving this place. I really did. But the energy has completely shifted. I've been here multiple times now, and every single experience with the owners has left me feeling tense and unwelcome. The final straw came after a couple of situations that made it clear this place is no longer what it used to be. One time, my son climbed onto a tractor that was left completely open. No signs. No fencing. And the keys were literally in the ignition. I was already walking over to get him down when the owner came out and screamed at me. No grace, no calm explanation, just full-volume yelling in front of everyone. I was mortified. It shook me up for the rest of the day. Another time, we were just a few minutes early and waiting by the entrance, not bothering anyone, just sitting in the car. Again, she came out yelling, like we had broken some rule by showing up early. And then, the husband. I watched him get belligerent with another guest. He was mocking him loudly and making a scene in front of other people. It was really uncomfortable to witness. No matter what the situation was, that is not how you treat paying customers. I don't know what happened here. Maybe as the place got more popular, the stress got to them. But somewhere along the way, they seem to have lost the heart for hospitality. I never write reviews like this, but I'm sharing it because this place has so much potential. It used to feel like a happy little secret. Now it just feels heavy. To the owners, I truly hope you hear this for what it is. You've built something beautiful. People want to come here and enjoy what you've created. But you cannot treat guests like this and expect them to keep coming back. I hope one day the warmth returns. I really do. But until that happens, I won't be back.

I get it, same longitude and wines should grow similar and all that jazz, but Michigan wines outside of the sweeter styles really never taste right to me. Well whatever they are doing here is nothing short of scientifically brilliant. Probably some of the best MItten Vino I have ever had and that assessement is from traveling all around the state and trying different areas. The Frontenac, Petite Pearl, Marquette were my favorites by far. But my five stars isn't for the wine, it's for the sheer joy this place brings me. Absolutely beautiful campus with sheep and goats and a big white furball of a dog who looks so adorable but is trained to kill any possible threat to his wards. The large barn event space and indoor seating is nothing short of gorgeous and of course sitting outside is just pure joy. I will add more pics as I come across them.

Food & Wine: I really want to love St. Julian Winery - Troy,…read moreand there are good things here. The wine itself is... fine. I'm more of a dry-wine person, and honestly I probably only enjoy about 5% of the menu, but I will say the prices are great and the menu is huge. There's truly something for everyone, just maybe not for the dry crowd. I do appreciate that they offer snacks for purchase and the wine club is actually a great deal. Service: This is where it slipped for me. I've been to other St. Julian locations and had genuinely great experiences, so I know the bar is higher. Here, the service was just ok. The staff didn't seem very engaged and gave off more "going through the motions" than "happy to have you here." It felt like regulars got the warm treatment, while everyone else was kind of an afterthought, which was a bummer. Ambiance: It's always packed, which says something, but the space itself feels cold and a little warehouse-y. I really wish this location had that cozy, homey winery vibe the others do. The energy is busy but not welcoming, and the location doesn't help much either. If I could give one suggestion to the team, it'd be to soften the space and the experience a bit, warmer lighting, more interaction, something that makes people want to linger instead of just drink and leave. I know this place can be great, it just doesn't quite get there yet.
