I do love Rye Whiskey and Two James brand is my new favorite! Had some cocktails here before dinner next door. Great urban ambience...simple and clean! Service was the actual bartender who will make your drink!! We were at a table and them come over and take your order. I had a Rye Manhattan and it was perfect. Will definitely be back.
Great ambience. Circular Cement bar is beautiful. Delicious cocktails. A nice collection of various spirits. Whiskeys and Gins are very good. The mixologist who served up was personable and explained and made great cocktails.
Super delicious cocktails!!! I really liked the Pain Killer. The rum and nutmeg really made my day. I also ordered another tasty drink that had rum, black tea, cinnamon and more. Excellent service from Sean. Thank you! Located across the street from Supergeil, on Michigan Avenue, in Corktown, my friends and I came here after brunch. Ample seating at the bar and tables around the room. Relaxed and casual vibe. Spacious interior. Really fun afternoon! I look forward to returning.
This was my first visit and will not be my last. I was expecting a large room with lots of tables and a huge crowd, but I was pleasantly surprised at what greeted me when I opened the door. There is a large round cement bar in the center of the room with ample seating. There is also a limited number of tables surrounding the bar. The bartenders there were friendly, knowledgeable, and were able to make great suggestions. While I wouldn't recommend showing up with a large party, it's a great date night drink spot before or after dinner.
Two James Spirits is a Detroit staple. It is located in the heart Corktown next to the train station, attached to Cork & Gable. The entrance is on Michigan Avenue. Inside you will find a round bar, cozy and quaint. The cocktails are served up stiff & tasty with amazing knowledge by the friendly staff. Grab a bottle or two of some delicious Dr Bird Rum or some Gale Force Gin- so light & citrusy! Be sure to swing on thru this amazing spot while in Corktown. You will leave happy!
The drinks here give you a whole different feeling of intoxication. It's nothing like the liquor that's mass made and sold. I was very surprised at the tastes and smells what I all tried. I'll say my #1 favorite was the rum. I have never smelled or tasted anything like it. And it's At 114proof (Navy Strength) I ordered the jungle bird drink which contains pineapple rum. To me the drink smelled like acrylic nail salon and cherry lipgloss. Alone, the bottle itself smelled like straight nail salon. The ambiance was really nice, and the chocolate I tried with my tasters were amazingly paired I had a great time and would definitely come back. Service was fast and every drink samples was greatly explained! Would definitely recommend.
A pleasant tasting room. The room is comfortable and inviting. The cocktail offerings are varied and use Two James Spirits. The Peated Bourbon was the favorite product. The pours in the flight were generous.
One of our top weekend retreats. Absolutely love this place, the staff is fun, friendly, and attentive.
Solid place to grab cocktails in Corktown. Came on a snowy night and it was warm and welcoming. A few tables were filled but not loud at all, I really appreciate bars where you don't have to yell to talk. Ambiance was ok, just brick walls with no art. They have a selection of different whiskeys and a variety of cocktail options. I ordered the 'All that Glitters' rye whiskey cocktail--glitter sprinkles are pretty gimmicky, but it was a strong drink. They have DJ nights and offer tours and merch of their brewery right next door. Bartenders were fast, friendly, and helpful. There's paid street parking directly outside and all along Michigan Ave and side streets (depends on day and time). It was nice to stop in to try out, but there wasn't anything special about this place that makes me really want to go back.
This is the perfect place to enjoy 1-2 cocktails before or after dinner in corktown. They have a wide variety of spirits to choose from and the bartenders are true mixologists- they can make anything based on your likes and dislikes in a cocktail. I always stop into Two James when we are waiting for our table to be ready at a restaurant nearby. They sell all of their distilled spirits so you can take some home with you. They make great gifts too!
I attended a Yelp event tonight, but I have been here numerous times over the ten years they've been open. The location is amazing next to the newly renovated Michigan Central Station. The service is always quick and friendly. I enjoyed the cocktail I purchased as well as the thoughtfully paired selections of Two James Spirits and DWAAR Chocolates. We ended up purchasing the Gin that is for anyone who hates gin. It tasted like 7up and I could totally just sip on that. We also got the Coffee Chocolate from DWAAR. I totally recommend both of these businesses and would you encourage to visit the Distillery for a few cocktails. Next time I think we will check out their restaurant across the street.

One of my absolute favorite spots in Corktown. Walking into the old industrial type building with its dark brick you are immediately greeted by the giant bar. The staff has always been super nice and willing to explain the flavor profile of every drink to you so you can actually make a great decision. Also, since Two James makes spectacular spirits, every drink is delicious. They are so well balanced between flavor and kick, it's brilliant after brilliant. There isn't food as far as I know, but eat the cherries. It's plenty. Lol. read more
Service: LOVE Rachel! There were only 2 bartenders on a Friday evening. They handled it very well. Food: we had a few cocktails. Apparently, the Johnny Sour tasted light but there was enough liquor in it . I was too set by the 2nd drink. Ambiance: fun circular bar! Not very big but nice chill atmosphere. I was introduced to Two James in Grand Rapids, my hometown when I visited during the Christmas holidays. We met Rachel there and stayed much longer than we had anticipated. Absolutely LOVE THE DASHI SHOTS there. To our dismay, the Detroit location did not have this shot. But it did have Rachel because she moved east. Cocktails were expertly made where your drink tasted so good that you THINK there's no alcohol in them. read more

My friend brought me here with high recommendations because he knows how much I love absinthe, as it is my go-to order. Our bartender prepared it with the traditional absinthe fountain with two faucets. I wish the fountain was actually set in front of us, so that we can watch the preparation up close, since the preparation is one of the most fun parts of drinking absinthe! Really enjoyed it here. Would definitely come back for the absinthe here. read more

Sometimes Detroit seems very...not busy. I feel like I should see more people walking around but I dont. Anyway, Sugar House had a 40 minute wait but our friends said this place was also cool. They make their own whiskey. But I learned that it's not as strong as KY bourbon. Regardless, by sister ordered an ube drink that had some of it in there. It was very sweet! We all ordered drinks with other kinds of alcohol in it. Can't even remember the name of my drink. But it was delicious! The space very much reminds me of a distillery. I almost feel like they should've been serving expensive apps on the side Ha! read more

I love this place. The cocktails are extremely unique and tasty. They are different so you have to keep an open mind. They also have tasting flights for the liquor and can do specialty shots. The staff was attentive and busy but friendly for the most part. The garage door opened up to outside which was great and there are a lot of tables for four around the bar and a couple barrels to sit around but the stools are flimsy and uncomfortable. There is a big screen playing sports which is great as well. read more

Have you been here?? Because I ran in the 4 mile Veteran's Day race yesterday and ran right by it- somehow missed this miracle of a bar(?). And it is a miracle- because I'm gonna just drop the I've pic here and that should be enough for you to drive right over. I was picking something up and the drink I saw made me sit down- and then the next drink I saw made me order it too- sampling what I can as long as I'm in the neighborhood. This is how my "bring the visitors" spot in Detroit. Great bartending today- impressed. read more

Just stopped for a quick drink and to check the place out, it was on the way to the car. Now for me a drink is beer, I do not drink hard liquor which means we left as they do not serve beer. Cocktails, mostly whiskey based, and two wines. Now the place is really cool looking, the front is open to Michigan Ave, huge round bar and a really nice staff, friendly and attentive. If this is you thing give them a try. read more
We had the day off and decided to hit some cocktail bars in Detroit. This was my first time at Two James. I love getting the opportunity to try new places that I have never been. Two James is rather small and consists mainly of a very large rounded bar. The mixologists are in the middle and pumping out the drinks. Each drink was hand crafted and it was super busy for a Wednesday afternoon! We ordered our drinks and enjoyed watching them be prepared. They were doing some sort of construction in there and that was super loud. Not sure what they were working on. There is a great outdoor area in the front as well as in the back. I could definitely see myself chilling on the patio. I loved it here and will definitely be back. read more

We stopped by this quaint little distillery in Corktown for a tour and sampling of Detroit's best distillery. The drinks were very strong and reasonably priced. Plenty of parking available behind the distillery. Tours are to be prearranged and run $15/person but include a nice tour and some samples of the good stuff. I really enjoyed their gin, it's the only one i've been able to drink that doesn't kill me with pine needle flavor. I enjoyed their old fashioned while my husband and friend had the absinthe. They also have bottles of booze for sale. Prices seem high for the bottles but the drinks were reasonable. read more

A must visit for cocktail lovers. Yes the spirits are great on their own, but the variety & fun flavors in the cocktails is the best. You have to try multiples, and things you might not normally try, spices, bitters, etc. And grab a shirt while you're there. read more
