Easily my favorite new spot in Detroit! Is it a wine bar, an ice cream shop, or a restaurant? Well, it's a bit of everything, all packed into the tiniest space possible. Thoughtful wine selection that leans towards low intervention (some "natty," but many fairly traditional in terms of taste), small menu of delicious food (the mortadella sandwich, Coppa plate, and gildas were all awesome), and yes, ice cream served in pretty bowls. Definitely feels much more like something you'd find in Paris, but of course that's exactly what they were going for. It's tiny (like, maybe 8-10 seats unless you count some random stools outside?!) and there are no reservations, so arriving early and/or having a lot of patience is recommended. Vibes are super high and chaotic. If you get asked to do a porrón chug and don't know what that is, just do it anyway and thank -- or curse -- me later.

Chenin is a small, intimate bar with great vibes! I loved their selection, and they also serve food! Definitely would come back again, I love their small, hidden entrance.

Super cute & really small cocktail bar. Bar seating and can also stand by the ledge. Went with friends & just got a round of cocktails. The drink was super strong!! Would be a really great first date spot if you are lucky enough to get a bar seat. Didn't try the food but the pizza looked really awesome

We were excited to try this new wine bar located on the back end of the Siren Hotel. I just love this area of Detroit! This is a small but charming wine bar that I think will become very popular. They make all their own wine and the owner was super friendly and helpful. The wine was delicious and they even had food. The couple next to us got pizza which looked absolutely amazing! We truly enjoyed our time here and can't wait to come back.

Best martini ever, great service, I love this place and the vibe. Plan to be in close quarters

Bar Chenin is a small and intimate wine bar with an amazing vibe. The wine selection was excellent and every glass we tried was enjoyable. The deep dish pizza was the real surprise and it was absolutely delicious and worth ordering. Seating is limited so it can be tricky to find a spot but once you do it makes for a perfect evening.

Incredible cocktails (the vodka martini was perfection) and natural wines. We ordered the mortadella sandwich, pizza, olives, and olive oil ice cream- all were made fresh in front of us and served immediately. The bar is small and intimate, the service personable and knowledgeable. We will be back, great spot.

Just wow ! This place is a great undiscovered gem. We meet the owner and the attention and care to curate the restaurant is great. It is a small intimate venue they have some bar seats and standing room but great for 2-4 people in a group. They are a wine bar first with select spirits available. This has a perfect dim glow with candles burning for an intimate feeling. I will go back everytime I'm in the area

There's little going on in this area, with zero shops or other restaurants nearby. Park on the side street, it's fine. We went there for a special occasion. Make that reservation, you'll need it. Empty tables don't exist for more than a few minutes, and they are packed in. Servers are laid back, knowledgeable, and friendly. Not in the "corporate wants me to smile", but genuine. I think the employees like working here! The food was amazing. If you want to pair the wine, ask for a suggestion. I'm so glad we did, both the red and the white wines we had complemented the food perfectly. The menu changes regularly, so what we ordered likely won't be available next week. Except the bread - I rarely eat any bread, but I'm glad I did this evening. Tables are small, but so are the plates. Share your food, there's just too many good things to try. And yes, even dessert was amazing. Dress up or not, doesn't matter. Anything goes. A sport coat is fine, but so are sweaters and sneakers. Entrance is a really plain door on the side, not at all where we expected it to be - and with very little indication of where it was. Top twenty of meals I've ever had, and probably in the top five I've ever had in Detroit.

Nate and I stopped in on our most recent visit to Detroit and had a lovely experience. The space is tucked away but had a surprising amount of outdoor space--we were there in January but I'd love to come back in the summer. We were greeted right away and given a spot near the bar. The menu includes cocktails, lots of wine, and several tasty food options. It was quite busy inside, so it took a bit of time for our server to come over to us, but we weren't in a rush. They had ten cocktails on their list and I tried the bullet proof soul and Nate got the negroni alla perra. The ingredients list for some of the cocktails include things I've never heard of, but at a place like this, I just know it's going to be good. Our drinks were perfectly balanced and very tasty. We also ordered the mortadella sandwich to split--this was delicious. It was pretty messy, but worth it. It was perfectly toasted and full of mortadella. Everything on the menu sounded delicious and I would love to try more of the food options. Can't wait to visit again!

There's artwork, a skatepark, renovated houses, gardens and a church that is now an art gallery. We stopped in to check it out and sat at the bar for a cocktail and snack. The waitstaff were super helpful in explaining everything and we finally picked 2 apps and got drinks. Both were amazing. There were friendly patrons all around and we chatted with other bar admirers. We checked out the coffee shop, Warda, but didn't purchase anything then, but have had several of their desserts since then and they did not disappoint. The atmosphere is wonderful, indoor/outdoor bar, great outside seating - not sure how this will work in the winter? They also have very pretty stone paths with multicolor stones mixed in for a very peaceful beautiful look. It inspired me to add some multicolored stones to my garden! I can't wait to return.

There was a 2 top table at the back that we were seated at - we could have sat at the bar also - and it was a great spot. We ordered the tasting menu and WOW, every course was amazing. I'll post pics because the presentation was gorgeous for each item. They have a small cocktail and wine and beer selection, but that was fine. My son got their Shrub Mocktail and I got the Shrub with Sake. Both were delicious and so interesting. I can't pick a favorite item because they were all so good, but the Torched Mackerel and Poached Bosc Pear were tied for #1, followed by the Salmon, Oysters and the crazy good Blood Orange dessert. The shrimp toast was just ok for me, not bad, just not as good as everything else. Additionally the service was outstanding. For a tiny place they did everything right. They explained each course, brought out fresh utensils for every course - YEA! - and made sure we had good pacing. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly and enhanced our meal. I really want to come back and try the oysters and some of the tinned items. I'm so excited I found Mink and will be back for sure.

Their food menu is mostly lighter dishes, and while I didn't eat anything, I did watch them bring out the mussels to the couple next to me and they looked really amazing. They have a nice drink menu with a wide choice of wine (obviously) but also some interesting liquor and beer options. Their cocktail program is actually quite unique. If you want to buy bottles though, I think this is where they excel, because they have some really nice bottles available for sale, which of course you can drink on the spot, but they do charge a $20 corkage fee, which is why I knocked them down a star. I can understand if you're bringing your own bottle, but if you're buying the bottle there, I think it's kind of crazy to have that high of a fee. Just my opinion though. Other than that, the experience is great and definitely a great spot to go before or after dinner at Barda or Puma.
