Big Fail today. We went to Karma today for a late lunch on a whim. My husband is allergic to shrimp and we made that plain to our server. We both got Tom Yum soup, mine with shrimp, his with chicken. That was delivered correctly and we both enjoyed it. We had also ordered the Basil Chow Fun, which usually comes with shrimp; we ordered it without shrimp and the server seemed to get it. However, when it was delivered, it wasn't with the chow fun noodles, which we love. So we sent it back. We were very clear with the next server (not the same as our original server) that it needed to be without shrimp. It arrived at our table with the correct noodles, but with shrimp. At this point we gave up. No attempt by the front staff was made to apologize, or make amends. We will not be going back. read more

The food is standard. The only standout dish was the spicy edamame. I came with a few friends and we split a few dishes. Next time I would just do sushi. There are a number of Asian fusion restaurants in the area, but I have to say Karma is the very best of them. The cocktail menu is inspired, and there were literally dozens of things on the appetizer and entree menu that looked appealing to us. I can only write about takeout since we haven't been in to eat. Since Covid, we've settled on Karma as our favorite take out, and we've been regulars since the spring (writing in November). I've eaten just about everything on the menu by now, and always have a hard time deciding because I really enjoy almost all of it. The staff are all lovely, the food is always ready when they say even though the place is super busy, and the order has always been correct. I'm especially fond of any and all of the sushi offerings (the Summer Hand Roll! omg), love the perfectly cooked Sichuan string beans. Sometimes we order all the appetizers, other times we just get Pad Thai. It's a great variety, and we plan to eat in when our comfort level allows. We absolutely love this place, and have been coming here once a week for about a year. It's tough to find asian restaurants for both me and my wife - I like Chinese, and she likes sushi. But Karma always hits the ball out of the park on both. We've tried almost all the appetizers and love them, and the ambience and welcoming attitudes of the entire staff are amazing. The best part of Karma, however, is Heidi the hostess. She always welcomes my wife and I with a smile, and takes amazing care of us and all the other diners - whatever they are paying her, they need to double it! read more

A friend and I went here for lunch last weekend. It just opened at noon on a Sunday so everything was clean. The decor is nice. The drinks are good. We had a few appetizers and they were yummy. This is a hidden gem! They should open this up in Seaport!!! Most of the restaurants from Seaport are overrated and over priced with mediocre food quality. STRONGLY RECOMMEND: ask th 1. We were doing a literary tour in Concord and were starving. We picked out this place from Yelp as it was close by and offered Asian cuisine. What a gem! The service was impeccable and on point! The appetizers were out in no time (fries for the little one were perfect, the crab rangoon was so light and airy), the sushi shortly thereafter and was fresh and AMAZING! Then the rice and tamarind shrimp was soooo good, the whole family downed it. We got extra crab rangoon in no time. The staff was super friendly and courteous. The sushi is decent but the prices are ridiculous and the pieces of fish literally need a magnifying glass to see. I have been eating sushi for a long time and I have NEVER seen pieces of sushi as small as the ones they served us tonight. Completely laughable and unacceptable. And the prices? In a word ... outrageous. One tiny piece of yellowtail or tuna for four dollars? Unacceptable Karma. Two pieces that are easily twice as big each should not be more than 6 or 7 bucks. Wow! What an unexpected find. We were all craving Asian cuisine during our vacation and I'm so happy that this came up as a recommended place on Yelp. We didn't have reservations but were there early enough where they were able to seat us. I can see why the place has a high rating. Quick, efficient and more importantly, DELICIOUS!! OK, to start with those that rate lower must have some sort of ax to grind. The prices or size of some plates could be argued but quality of food is excellent and size/value of most choices is just fine. If you want large vats of slop for low dollars, go somewhere else. I have eaten here multiple times and I consider myself a Chinese food expert- many meals in Hong Kong, SF, NYC and Boston Chinatown. Food here is adventurous, authentic and stimulating. Service is very good at the bar. Steve is very professional. Great dishes: Basil Chow Foon (if you like seafood, the seafood chow foon is a nice splurge), Pineapple Shrimp= many jumbo shrimp in a luxurious mild sauce with candied Walnuts, Plumb Duck= ample serving of great duck & broccoli (pro tip is to get the sauce on the side-it's great but could be considered overpowing if whole dish is smothered in it). The Bomb App is the bomb= flavor explosion in your mouth-go for it. I will add more individual dish reviews when I get further into the menu. Mai Tai's are OK but Lotus Blossom in Sudbury still rules in this department. Overall atmosphere is excellent. Enjoy. read more

I've been a long-time customer at Karma/Concord and despite their high prices, the quality of food kept bringing me back. My last visit was nothing short of a disappointment though. I brought a friend to celebrate a special occasion, and our experience was a complete let down. Arrived at 5:15PM with only 2 tables occupied, staff had me wait for an "open" table for 5 minutes. My friend and I arrived a few minutes apart, but the waitress wanted me to order despite the fact that I said, I was waiting to order with my friend. When my friend showed up, she wasn't even given 2 minutes to look at the menu when the waitress wanted her order...very rushed (restaurant is still empty at this point.) Drinks arrive and my wine glass is FULLY covered in someone-else's lipstick - REALLY?!! We are just coming out of a pandemic! When I pointed it out to the waitress and said it was a serious board of health violation, she appeared to "not understand" me. We ordered spicy edamame (always do - as I'm a fan!), but this time it arrived soooo spicy that it was inedible. Both of us felt like fire-breathing dragons after tasting 2 pieces. The rest of our food was great. Before asking for the check, I've inquired the waitress if she was planning on doing something about the "drink covered in someone's lipstick situation," while she said "sure" when the bill came there was no attempt to rectify the unfortunate and disturbing situation...not even a "sorry!" Then "manager" came up and basically scolded us pretty loudly for being "unreasonable." It's a gross violation of safety protocols that can get the place in serious trouble and instead of owning up/taking responsibility and apologizing, we were "accused" of being unreasonable. The food is good but the customer service is poor. My takeout order was wrong. I called and said I was coming back for the correct order. When I returned, they had my order but they wanted the wrong item back - it was 6 pieces of sashimi that at this point had not been refrigerated for over an hour. I gave them the sashimi and was told I was charged for the sashimi which was less than my correct order by $2 - and then the man walked away. Not inexpensive but worth every penny. The food is fresh and terrific, drinks are fair and the staff is amazing. It's the only restaurant my wife and I will go and sit down during this crazy time. They take your temp,you sign in and go to the bar are escorted to a table. Complimentary hand sanitizer at each spot and clean,clean ,clean I'd eat off the floor. Only problem is we live close and enjoy it so much I find myself there about 3 or more times a week. As a long time Karma customer, I was horrified to be told by one of my favorite bartenders that a bar seat was "reserved" by a customer that was not present. This was especially after my group was obviously waiting for quite some time. Apparently the bar tenders "reserve" seats for customers who text them privately. As a regular, once or twice a week for YEARS, this treatment was appalling. While I've always loved the food and the service, I recommend taking the extra 20 min to drive into the city for better service and sushi. Don't depend on Steve or Gerald. read more
