I've been coming to Karco for more than two decades with two different Honda's. The first was a 1990 Civic wagon and my current 2004 Element which I've had for 15 years. Part of why I keep my cars as long as I do is I have terrific mechanics to keep them maintained. They are great at diagnosing problems and just as great doing the repair work. Recently I had a very difficult issue with my Sienna. The Vehicle Stability Control would activate around corners, causing the car to violently brake for no reason! The issue was very difficult to diagnose, but Jay researched the problem in depth and ultimately came up with the solution on his own - tire pressure sensor! I have been going to Karco since the early 80's. I found them through an article in the Register called "My Favorite Mechanic". After going to dealerships and local repair shops, when I found Karco it was so nice to be able to relax and know I wasn't being cheated. I wanted to buy a different make of car but decided against it so I could keep with Karco. I'm a single woman and I feel that they take care of me and my car as a father or a husband would. I've been going to Karco for yrs (over 6yrs). I usually go to the dealer for an oil change bc every other is free. The dealer notified me that I needed motor mounts so I called Karco. The guy to answered the phone would not give me a price quote and said that he would charge more than the dealer bc the work they did was guaranteed longer & they did better work than the dealer! If you own a Lexus, take it here! The dealership told me I should change the timing belt on my RX "just in case". They quoted about $3k. Dealership wanted $900 for the next major service. Karco did it for half the price (less than $500, but that included a transmission fluid change or something like that which wasn't included in the Lexus quote). Karco told me my RX has a timing chain which does not need to be replaced. Whew! Nothing but great things are said about them on the Lexus forums, too. read more

I found Karco through Yelp a few years ago when my the check engine light came on in my wife's car due to a bad transmission pressure switch. I was skeptical at first, as I usually am when it comes to auto repair shops, but after reading the reviews I decided to give them a shot. I have since insisted that my car, as well as my wife's car (both are Hondas) only be serviced by Karco. I have had my timing belt/water pump/drive belts/etc., starter, and catalytic converter (after it was stolen) all replaced by Karco. I've also referred my family and friends (who have Hondas or Toyotas) to Karco. Unlike any other auto repair shop I have visited in the past, I never leave Karco feeling like I am being ripped off. I would not take my Honda anywhere else..even for an oil change. I have been going there for over 20 years, because they are HONEST, and reliable. Finding an honest mechanic is a precious commodity and I totally trust these guys. Some time back, I had the misfortune of getting ripped off by another mechanic who talked me into a costly, totally un-needed repair to another Honda that I owned. Jay alerted me to the horrible job that was done and told me that it was dangerous to drive my car in that condition. Karco fixed my car and even documented the condition of the previous work with pictures, as they did the proper repairs. I sent the pictures to the Dept. of Automotive Repairs and eventually got a full refund for the first job. Needless to say, I am forever grateful and forever loyal to these guys at Karco. Getting a smog check across the street from Karco. They couldn't get my hood open. I get my car serviced at Karco so I called them and on a very busy Monday morning they told me to come over and they would see what they could do. I did and immediately two mechanics were there to help me. They knew what to do and got it open in a minute. Good mechanics are a dime a dozen. But honest ones are hard to find. Jay and the other guys here are as honest as they come and have serviced my families cars for years. But what completely won me over, was a few years back i was going to buy a lexus is300, third party. I decided to take the car to Karco and pay i believe 75 or 100 for a complete inspection. Before i made the big purchase. They came out after reviewing the car telling me it would be a money pit, handed the other guy the keys and didnt charge me. They couldve advised me to purchase the lexus with some work needed on it and made money off of me. But instead they told me dont do it. Not maybe. Not negotiate a lower price for it. But DONT. Karco Specialties has been my service provider of choice since I first purchased a Honda in the 1990's. From my first visit, and up to the present, I have never had one complaint about their service. On the contrary, I sing their praises to anyone who will listen. Since I live a considerable distance from Karco, I usually stay in their comfortable waiting room while my car is being serviced, but the time seems to pass quickly. Often other customers are waiting for their cars, and we exchange stories about our Karco experiences. I have done that kind of exchange in doctors' offices, but never, prior to going to Karco, have I had a similar experience at a car dealership or service shop! After a trip to Karco, I drive away feeling that I'm behind the wheel of a car that looks and drives like a new car instead of a Honda that has traveled more than 75,000 miles.
