Wanted to try their buffet at dinner, but it seems they don't do buffet anymore. They have a lot of variety on the menu and we ended up ordering Lamb Shank ($14) and Lamb Karahi ($14). Both of these items come with your choice of rice or naan. I love middle eastern cuisine because they really know how to cook lamb shank. It's so melty and fall of the bone (could use more flavorings on the meat though as it was a bit bland). Lamb Karahi was full of flavor so we ordered a side of naan ($2) and garlic dip ($2) to pair with that dish. Others complained about slow service, but our food came out fairly quick. Maybe if you're coming in a group of 6+, call ahead so they're prepared for you. Lots of parking on the street and a few spots at the back of the restaurant. Moment of truth... If you cross my posts, you will see what I ordered, which is pretty much a variety for first-timers. Long story short, the naans, chicken tikka, and goat karahi were the true highlights of the feast. I personally recommend: (1) Chicken tikka (Hot); and (2) Karahi - this has its own section, which is rare on a Pakistani menu. I believe this was the former buffet, Tibisti, which was mediocre in quality. The location is awesome and very central - a huge marketing boost for patrons. Our host was very nice and accommodating, but she was the only one operating the floor, and our food took a little longer than usual. In the end, our biryani was cold and not pleasant to eat. However, I definitely will be coming back here with more foodie companions as I believe in room for improvement. Good job, Karakoram! read more

We were visiting Vancouver from California with the kids. Walked into this place for dinner and the very hospitable host welcomed us. Noticing the kids she quickly brought us color pencils and paper. We ordered the Lahori chicken karihie, the Kashmiri chicken and the lamb Shikaki. Everything was exceptionally flavored. Seasoned perfectly so you could actually taste the meats. All the breads were excellent. Especially the rogani naan. Large open dining hall! Couple parking spots in rear otherwise street parking. Will defiantly visit next time we are in town! read more

Lesson: order the specialties when you go to an ethnic restaurant ! We ordered: - fish pakoras - taste of peshawar lamb karhai : this is very different from the karhai we (from Lahore) make at home and it was finger licking good. Be ready to have oil all over you and your fingers :) the Lamb was gamey as lamb is, but not stinky at all. - family grilled platter: will skip next time, it was good but not incredible. And the surprising piece de resistance...were the vegetarian dishes. Tasted home cooked and just comforting. - eggplant bhartga : so well made I'm never bothering to try making this at home again. Easier to order out. - maash daal: this is mushy well flavored slightly dry on purpose (ie non soupy and scoopable) - just tastes like moms cooking! Went there today due to the good reviews and because we were craving Pakistani food (which isn't common compared to Indian food in Vancouver). Service: Very friendly, however be prepared to wait for a while until the food is ready. We were given fair warning that the Lamb Karahi would take 30 to 40 minutes of waiting time, so it did not come as a surprise to us. I noticed some experienced customers ordered takeout and simply came in for pickup, so that may be a good idea if you don't want to wait. Food/Flavour: We ordered the Haleem and Peshawar Lamb Karahi and both dishes were absolutely excellent. While I am not local to this cuisine, we tried plenty of good (and bad) Indian and Middle Eastern restaurants before, and this place gets extra bonus points for the freshness of the food and the incredibly good flavour that took no shortcuts in preparation. It's a clear 5/5 on the food quality scale. Summary: Definitely recommend - it's hard to find a good Pakistani/Indian restaurant outside of Surrey and this is the best Halal Pakistani food I had in Vancouver (haven't tried all of them, but a couple and this one ranks #1). I was looking forward to some late lunch but absolutely nothing went right. My boyfriend actually have been here in the past and enjoyed it, only recently has everything down in quality. Let's start from the beginning. We walk in, the server gives us the menus. All is well, all is good. I ask the server, what would you recommend between Mix Veg or Egg plant Bhartha? She says - well, we don't have the mix veg... So I order the eggplant one. P orders Donairs and chicken wings. We both order Chai tea. 5 min later, she comes back and tells P, they are out of chicken wings. Cool..cool cool cool cool cool We continue to wait for our meal 20 min later, she comes back and tells me "We don't actually have eggplant!!!" SO IN THE END, NEITHER THINGS WERE ON THE MENU WHERE THEY???? did it really take your chefs 20 minutes to figure out you don't have eggplant?? wtf? So I order the falafel plate. P's 1 chicken 1 beef kabab comes and it's on a sizzling plate. Promising start. However, one of his kebabs legit just looks like someone took a dark, giant, dry turd. He cuts it open and it does NOT look like chicken. Mystery meat, always a joy to eat right? They butchered kebabs. The server also brings out Pita bread, none of us ordered pita bread. In fact, P ordered rice. She fixes her mistake, and Phil placed his kebabs on his rice. My meal comes finally. And it's a joke. The falafels are dry and tasteless. They taste like what I imagine Horses eat. It was baad man, I make falafels better than this. The rice was probably the best part. The "salad" was lettuce, NO SAUCE, and 1 black wilted piece of onion which i took out and 2 pieces of cucumber. This, my friends, can not be considered a salad. I did not finish my food. Let us remind you, the reader, we ordered chai. Hmmmm, where is this Chai, a simple drink, should have been at our table long before all this fiasco. The service was really bad, the waiter that was serving us was really giving us attitude and wasn't understanding the order and kept getting all of our order wrong. The waiter brought us the wrong order every single time we told him that that wasn't what we order. The food wasn't good at all. It was very dry and difficult to eat. The plates and spoons were very dirty and had dust and hair on it. The place was really dirty and not a very good place to eat at. I don't recommend because it will ruin your day. read more

I brought a group of local foodies here (8 in total), and even made reservations 2+ weeks before... ...so why did it take nearly 2 hours to get any of our food? The waitress was just a kid, and had no clue. Must have been her first day. Worst server ever. I give her a star for effort, but bag of hammers... They brought out baskets & baskets of naan, but the people who ordered rice had to wait till after all the food was out to get theirs. The naan was not to order, so that people who ordered extra paid extra, but had no idea what one order was. The naan came so early that it was cold & hard before we got any food to go with it. Then, when after waiting 2 hours for our food...they over cooked all of the grill/sizzler meats. Everyone who ordered that said it was "only just ok". Would not order again...and this is after watching a table of 3 who arrived after us get their sizzler wings *before* us & rave about them. I ordered individual chicken karahi as suggested on Yelp...and was served lamb.... Um...I asked the server as she set it in front of me "chicken???" Yes ***I do not eat lamb, beef, pork, goat or any fur-meats*** I realized only after dipping my naan several times in the gravy, then took a piece of meat that was obviously too dark to be chicken. So I ask the sever again (stomach already churning): chicken? And I showed her the piece of dark brown meat..."Oh! Wait! I mixed up your orders". [dry heaving that I've contaminated my body with fur meat] I had to wait another 20 minutes for my chicken, my neighbour waited 35 minutes for his lamb...and everyone else in our group was leaving. My naan was cold & hard & no fresh extras left after everyone else got to eat. Was not served any more. My neighbour got 2 rices & got them served fresh & hot. They didn't even bother to comp my meal or anything, after feeding me things that made me sick for days afterwards. I truly was. I give it 1* because the taste was good, but I would NEVER come here again. You fed me something against *my* beliefs. I thought a Halal place would be safe. read more

Ordered food... after 25 minutes our cup of ice came out with 2 big black chunks of food at the bottom of the cup. My drink didn't arrive for the first 30 minutes ... there was one person serving 10+ tables, answering the phone, playing music off of his music and ringer went off ... lots of random sounds, 2 people working kitchen... in thinking hopefully we will get our food here in the next hour or so. I went to this restaurant along with my friends. It was an amazing experience. Pakistani foods are very delicious. I must recommend the Lamb Chop of this restaurant. Foods are so tasty that i even forgot to take photo of Chicken Karai(After having two or three pieces, i took the picture of Chicken Karai). First ordered food here through skip the dishes, I got the tandoori BBQ chicken and it was delicious. My bf and I came in to the restaurant to eat there, and it was even better freshly cooked. The tandoori bbq chicken isn't too spicy either, which is good. You can order the chicken with either naan bread or rice. I ordered it with rice and a side of naan bread. Their naan bread is really good, and it's freshly made. All the food served is freshly made when they serve it. They serve the tandoori bbq chicken on a sizzling plate as well. I haven't tried anything else on the menu yet, but I would definitely recommend getting the tandoori chicken!!! read more

The weekend special briyani was outstanding, as was the peshawari lamb karahi (the only place to offer this in BC, according to the chef). Naan was delicious and fluffy. Went here for their dinner buffet..the price is reasonable..$19.99/person..but we were pretty disappointed with it after we ate there..first there are not a lot of food to choose from..they have lamb shank, beef, roasted chicken, rice, salad and saucing bar, and tea station..the lamb shank tasted great..and the beef was alright..some weren't tender enough tho..the roasted chicken was fair.. Chicken Tikka and LambChop were on time but Kharai took around 35 mins to come to our table and it's justified as it was worth Waiting. if you're about to die, then Karakoram is for you ... because the wait is a freaking eternity. greeted and seated within seconds, menus and water right after that. the Pakistani menu offerings looked absolutely amazing, and very reasonably priced. after our order was taken by a cheery young waitress, one of our two drinks arrived within minutes. great start! however: while the joint was buzzing, only two or three tables actually had any food. most seemed to be waiting, while a separate group was being served a private buffet. a few empty tables sat un-bussed, and several people were congregating around the cashier, waiting to pick up or pay. GRAVE FORESHADOWING. things i noticed: * one gentleman hard-pressing the cashier about not having his food ready for pickup when promised * another fellow walked into the joint and waited for his existence to be acknowledged. after five minutes without even a hello, he left. * handful of groups or persons arrived to pick-up orders were kept waiting -- from before we got there. besides one Skip The Dishes dude (who also waited a while), did not see a single person walk out with food. * kitchen seemed to be alive with action, but servers brought out food only intermittently. why was i paying attention? because we didn't have anything to do! FORTY MINUTES passed before our pakora appetizer arrived. and when our entrees (tikka, karahi meat dishes) finally landed, they were served without rice and naan. no-one checked up on us -- we had to flag down a server about our missing items. but even then, our 2nd drink NEVER CAME. the only redemption for such a poor dining experience would be if the food were stunningly out-of-this-world amazing, and served in massive, ultimately satisfying portions. not the case. ended up having a second dinner elsewhere after we paid and left. read more

Excellent food. We ordered chicken karahi and lamb chops. We knew going in that chicken karahi will take longer so waiting was not an issue and to be honest it was worth the wait. Really authentic karahi which is hard to find in North America. Very unassuming little spot. We first tried this place back in Feb before the world changed. I remember a bit of a wait for the Nihari as it was made from scratch. My wife had the butter chicken and said it was one of the best she has had. The Nihari was very good though a bit oily, but flavour wise excellent. Fast forward to June and we decided to return to help out this small mom and pop spot, since we liked it the first time. We had to make a reservation, upon arrival there was only one other person inside, though it was a Monday. I think they are doing ok with people ordering online and using the delivery services. The staff take all the normal precautions and are set up for dine in or pick up orders. My wife again ordered the butter chicken and was not disappointed, very flavourful. I had the Achari chicken, a type of curry with pickled ginger, it had a nice tang and deep flavour. The only downside was this dish was also a bit on the oily side, which considering I'm not eating this on a regular basis, I really don't have problem. We both ordered Naan, wife wife the sesame seed, for me the garlic, both were freshly made, piping hot and so good. Forgot to order rice, as the meals came with either Naan or rice, so ordered a side of basmati and it was light and fluffy. Great dining experience, good food and super friendly staff. I forgot to mention that the chef came to our table and answer any question and explain the dishes. Karakora is definitely worth supporting. read more
