Food is horrible, very disappointing! Service was terrible, not worth to try out at all. Also not family friendly place.

Salt & Steak offers a cozy, modern atmosphere that makes it a comfortable spot for a nice meal. The…read moreservice was good--friendly and attentive throughout our visit. The steak was tender and cooked well, and it came with condiments like jus and steak sauce, which added to the experience. However, the steak itself could have used a bit more seasoning and a stronger smoky flavor to really elevate it. Overall, it was an enjoyable dining experience with room for improvement in flavor depth.

I personally did not enjoy any part of this dining experience. We had made a reservation which…read moreabsolutely was not needed because the place was dead inside. the walls were so dirty so it was a bit off putting to be eating beside old sauce / dead bugs. service was absolutely non existent. The two ladies were just talking off on the side and texting on their phone all in plain sight. I understand there may be downtime in any shift but it lowers the vibe of the dining experience and also our soft drinks took forever to come to our table. just a Coke and just a sprite - also no offer for refills or asking if we wanted other drinks. the food itself took a LONG time to come out - only two entrees, no appetizers or fancy platters. once the food did come out I was surprised that everything was SO salty. also weird it's auto served with ketchup and bbq sauce. My steak had a lot of gristle on it and typically when the waitress would check in how things were I'd either mention it or they would apologize for the cut - but neither of the servers came by. I also didn't want to risk waiting another half hour for mediocre food and service. a family came in and they were seated right near us even though the restaurant was empty so that was also weird seating. when our meals were over and plates taken away eventually, we waited again for 10 minutes for someone to come by so we could get our bill. it's a weird layout because it's like the restaurant wants to be boujie but the service and food just don't meet the criteria. Needless to say it was not a good birthday dinner and I wouldn't recommend it.

Luckily we got seated after a short 10 minute wait - but I definitely think reservations are recommended for this spot. It got busier the longer we were there, and I didn't see many open tables available. Our server was super friendly and talkative. She gave us some great menu recommendations. We took advantage of their Happy Hour for apps and started with the Hot Chicken & Pickles, and the Truffle Fries. Both are good, however the chicken bites are thighs instead of breast, which isn't usually my fav. For mains, I got the Butternut Squash Ravioli with Prawns. My bf got the Truffle Parmesan Chicken. We both really enjoyed our meals. The raviolis were delicious! My bf normally isn't a fan of chicken breast, but he said this one was great. He also raved about the truffle mushroom cream sauce in the dish. We skipped desserts because we were too full, but there were multiple that I wanted to try - next time! The menu has a lot of different options for different palates and moods. I would definitely eat here again!

The tables at this location is also quite far apart from your neighbours, making it a good place to catch up with friends. The reason why I decided to make this review was because we noticed that they have a new burger on the menu for late night HH -- "the niner". It's a smash burger for $9, which is a STEAL in this economy (and add fries for $5). The only downside is that there are no substitutions/changes allowed (even when I just asked for no pickles), but it's not a big issue to me. The burger itself is quite flat, but enough substance to fill me up, especially if you get a side of fries. Not overly salty which is one thing I take note of when I'm eating burgers. Quite enjoyed it, and especially for that price, you can't complain at all. I think that the burger is only at this location so far, but I would love if they extended it to other locations as well!!

But the only thing is that the pizza was quite greasy and the tables were kind of dirty. But I guess they probably had a rush since there was quite a lot of customers. So I give this reasturant a 4 star. But all of that, Great customer service. Great food. Good restaurant.

We ordered over the phone, and our meal was ready when we arrived. Now that's efficient service…read more Our order consisted of six pieces of fried chicken with french fries for $13. Unfortunately, the portion of fries was RIDICULOUSLY small. They must have given us something like ten fries, and they didn't even season them! I understand that a lot of people are worried about their sodium intake, but french fries need to be salted to taste even moderately edible! And when someone orders six pieces of chicken, they're obviously going to need more than a single serving of fries (just saying). Each piece of fried chicken was quite small, especially compared to chain restaurants like Church's Chicken or Kentucky Fried Chicken. I assume that this is because they use only halal meat in this restaurant (which I'm guessing is more expensive and more difficult to obtain than regular chicken). But to their credit, the restaurant's owners gave us eight pieces of chicken, which we appreciated as it helped make up for the small portions. Unfortunately, the chicken was also not salted and didn't even seem fried. It looked and tasted more like "boast chicken" which is the less oily and less greasy version of fried chicken. I can't speak for any other menu items at this restaurant, but I wouldn't recommend ordering their fried chicken. If you want to get a tastier fried chicken (and you're not afraid of going to Richmond) go to Red Rooster Fried Chicken instead. It's also a fried chicken restaurant, but resoundingly more delicious.

Top-quality Hakka food…read more I live near the old Green Lettuce in Vancouver and was very disappointed when they recently closed. I decided to trek out here to see how this location differed. Turns out: same very high-quality food, some differences in the menu and dishes. I stopped in for a late dinner around 8pm on a Sunday. The restaurant was not that busy. We ordered three dishes, which all came out pretty quickly. All three were fantastic. We got: -Manchurian Vegetables: deep-fried shredded veggies served with green peppers and a rich Manchurian sauce. Extremely decadent given the deep-fried nature but nicely curated dish. Excellent. -Dai Ching Tofu: comes with plenty of triangularly-cut tofu, lots of sliced and diced onion, green pepper, and a rich, dark soy sauce with a nice dark vinegar aspect that really elevates it. Phenomenal dish. -Szechuan Tofu with Deluxe Vegetables: similar to the Dai Ching but less of the vinegar in the sauce and a little sweeter, but similarly balanced and tasty, coming with a lot more veggies. Also phenomenal. Each dish was $17, which is pretty good in this day and age, especially for the generous portions. Very friendly, extremely attentive service. Can't say enough good things about this place. If out in Surrey, come here; if not, make the trip out!

They also have halal options, which is pretty rare to see. Nothing beats spicy soup in rainy season, so I went for the bún bò Huế ($21). It wasn't spicy to me (nothing in Vancouver is, let's be real), but they leave chili oil crisp on the table if you want more heat. I enjoyed it, though they use thick round rice vermicelli instead of the flat rice noodles you get in pho, and I think I prefer the latter. I saw a few complaints about portion size, but it was more than enough for me, and I couldn't finish mine. It's arguably more expensive than standard pho around Commercial Drive, but they give you more beef and meat toppings. They have pretty interesting drink options, but most of them are iced, so maybe they need more cold weather options? The place was full and busy with takeout orders at lunch, with only two servers who seemed overwhelmed, so I think they're understaffed.
