As a San Francisco Bay Area transplant, I never miss a chance to eat at Kangnam whenever I'm at H Mart. The LA galbi is my go-to every time--tender, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. Their soups are comforting, the japchae is excellent, and the portions are generous enough to share. The staff is friendly, prices are fair, and the food comes out fast. Seating in the food court is limited, so grab a table if you see one. The good news is H Mart has plenty of parking. If you're already at H Mart, do yourself a favor and eat here. You won't regret it. Life is too short to not eat well, so get out there and find your next meal. read more

Came here straight getting the airport on my way to the hotel because I wanted Korean food. It's located inside the H-Mart. The food was very good and priced wonderfully. The sauce was very flavorful, but I like it with some heat, so I asked for gochokaru (red pepper flakes) and put some on. Perfection. It was a great lunch! read more

10/10 recommend! Food was yummy! My boyfriend got some sort of spicy chicken with white rice! He really enjoyed the sauce that it was tossed it. I got the beef hot pot. Everything seemed fresh and well incorporated. The lady behind the counter was really nice and answered the questions that we had about the menu. She even suggested that the hot pot as a nice dish with "crunch rice" at the bottom like a nice snack lol. There isn't really ambiance being that this food court style dining. I noticed some people using their bimbibap sauce so I decided to try some but as soon as I got the sauce to my table the main cashier ran over and grabbed the sauce out of my hand. This is a food court inside a grocery store (H-Mart). Google maps and yelp itself doesn't make that clear when it appears next to H-Mart on the map. Just keep that in mind if you're planning a first date. Not that I would mind personally especially if we can get some groceries afterwards but you know how some people can be. The only bad here is that they don't serve any drinks whatsoever which requires you to get into another line and get a bottle of something at another counter which is certainly not a deal breaker. Also other restaurants in the food court share the same seating so during busy hours it can be hard to find a seat. I have tried various combos at this location, all has been at or above expectations and the staff has been extremely friendly no matter how busy they are. Authentic Bibimbap is one of my favorite dishes and they produce that here effortlessly and quickly so of course that's my recomendation. Portions are more than adequate. This is exactly what a quick serve food court type Korean restaurant should be and I'm thankful there are options like this for us in the triangle. read more

I ate Jajangmyun and some other items here a few years ago. I grew up in Los Angeles so I was extremely shocked that the food tasted like the restaurant cooking I was familiar with. My entire family was happily surprised! We haven't been here for about 4 years. Today we had Jajangmyun and the fried pork with sweet sour sauce. The pork batter was soggy and nothing like we had a few years back. The Jajangmyun tastes the same but the quantity was about 50% less! We live in Charlotte so this was a bit of a trek. Thank goodness we didn't make the long drive just for the food. I was told there was an ownership change. My advice is go back to the original recipes! This place could be great again. :) read more

You order at the booth in the food court and pay there before getting a number and waiting until your number gets called. Although the food court is relatively big in size, they call out the numbers on an intercom system which makes it very easy to hear your number being called even if you are sitting on the other end of the food court. I ordered the japchae (B13) for a total of $12-13, and while I had to wait for quite some time given the lunch rush, I was very satisfied with both the taste of the dish as well as the portion size. The plate of food was enormous, and they also provide you with pickled cucumbers and pickled daikon on the side along with a bowl of rice. we always get our meals from here! i love the bibimbap & seafood pancake, i almost always order the same thing when i'm here either with my family, boyfriend or friends! i typically share my rice with my sister who usually gets fried chicken & my family loves the champong but recently they seem to really dial down on how much seafood is in the dish as my boyfriend only found one mussel, one shrimp, handful of squid tentacles, and a bunch of onions along with the noodles. it was very flavorful but just not enough seafood to go with the delicious noodles! my family and i have been going to hmart for dinner since hmart opened & it's definitely cut back on some of the dishes as they arent as they used to be but still super yummy! read more

The beef was slightly lacking on flavor/texture, though. It came with pretty decent cubed quality radish kimchi and sweet pickled radish as sides. Overall, I was satisfied with the meal, and would purchase again if I was at H-mart. Definitely not something to go out of your way for, though. read more

Delicious, authentic Korean food! All the dishes we ordered were pretty solid choices, including the bibimbap, ddukbokki, jajangmyeon, shrimp with chili sauce, japchae, and pork tangsuyuk. The jajangmyeon had the largest quantity; the noodles do tend to stick together though for take out, so you need to spend a little bit of time and muscle separating it. The shrimp with chili sauce was delicious, but there wasn't very much of it. The bibimbap was pretty solid, even with it being in a take out container. The japchae was solid as well. The pork tangsuyuk was a little tough. The ddukbokki was good, but I did expect more of it than what was given. Over all, would definitely try this place again. I think next time, I'd order the shrimp with chili sauce and bibimbap. read more

This place is located inside the HMart grocery store's food court area. It doesn't matter which food stall you want to order from, you order and pay for everything at the same cashier. Then you wait for your number to be called and pick up your food from whichever food stall you ordered from. A very efficient and sanitary system (this way the food stall workers don't have to touch currency and prepare your food). Since it was a little chilly outside, I decided to order the B18, or Sundae Gook (Korean Blood Sausage Soup), which came with a bowl of white rice, cucumber kimchi, daikon kimchi, and some red pepper paste to spice up your soup if you wish to do so. It was delicious, hearty, and not for the faint of heart. In addition to the Sundae, you also get slices of pork offal in the soup. The broth was most likely a bone based broth due to it's milky appearance and rich taste. I had a very enjoyable dining experience. Although the food was tasty, I was hoping the prices would be cheaper because of the food court setting. Unfortunately the prices aren't much cheaper than an actual Korean restaurant, however, I'll still be back. read more

Personally, I love kang nam town. Everytime I shop at Hmart, I always have to eat there. There service is good and the wait time isnt long. My favorite think to get is Japchae, Budae Jjigae, and Tteokbokki. They are very organized and have nice music in the background. We ordered the jjajangmyun and tangsooyook for lunch here. The food here is okay at best- neither really good or bad. What made me give this rating was the service and how the food came out. It was extremely inefficient and made no sense. Our noodles came out, but not our tangsooyook. The lady quickly dismissed us when we came to pick it up and asked where the other dish was. I came back a few minutes later to inquire how long it would take so we have an idea of when it comes out (since normally, you would eat the two dishes together). She basically just ignored me. We were number 33 and they were calling numbers in the 40s already at this point. She could've handled it more professionally and be a little more courteous to customers instead of ignoring a simple question such as that. Their jajangmyeon (black bean noodle dish) is to die for!! They make the noodles fresh and slice them up with a machine right there. And the sauce is heavenly~ I saw on another review someone was complaining about the kitchen staff touching the noodles with their bare hands. Yes they do this. Sushi chefs also touch your sushi with their bare hands. As long as their hands are clean it is not a problem. This place was one of the best Korean food places in NC. However, after the ownership change recently, the quality of food has been slowly degrading. Maybe the inflation is one of factors. Kimchi stew used to be slowly simmered style, but now I just taste boiled Kimchi water. Before, I could taste pork in Tangsooyuk, but now barely. It's the same volume but the starchy makes up the most of volume with very little meat. What a shame. Hope the new owner stops cutting corners and serve the quality food again read more

Price wise it can be a little pricey for noodles but it's one of the best jangjyangmen (~$11) I've had. Therefore, 100% worth it. I really only got went here because a friend raved to me about it and I was already getting groceries at HMart. So when I tasted the noodles, I didn't expect much but they were delicious! Literally a flavor explosion in my mouth that complimented the soft and chewiness of the noodles. I later found out they make their noodles fresh daily so that's really the keeper here! I just came here the other day with a friend during a weekday lunch hour. It wasn't very busy at all, so there was no wait to order. Ordered fried beef mandu which took between 5-10 minutes to be ready. It was excellent, tasty and at a very a decent price.
