Kamps has been great. Very friendly and reliable. most importantly honest and gets the job done. Recently reached out with some rank issues. Had service done same day! That's great especially when it's cold. We live in the mountains but wE have never heard our location as being an excuse for them to nOt heLp us out. Awesome! read more

Awful customer service. They will leave you without propane and then fine you for running out.

Horrible. They just show up wanting our gate code to access our property. No heads up on when they are coming. I'm not giving access to our house if we are not there. I've read other complaints that when you try to cancel they want to charge you a cancellation fee. That better not be the case. They've also switched to Superior propane. read more

OMG the worse and what sucks is if you want to go somewhere else they charge you $200 for a "tank check." So I call on Monday because I am down to 2% and they tell me that they will be out sometime this week. Now it's Friday and I get Osario who goes through a huge list of questions to verify who I am more than my bank. The last one being a call back on my cell. I try to explain I am talking to her on my land line and can't get cell. Mind you that's after answering all her question to verify who I am but my debit card that was skimmed a year ago. I could not remember every credit card I have ever owned. So non the less she wants to call me. I just want to know when I will ever take a bath. THATS IT!!!! When will they ever come out and fill my tank. Of course Osario never calls back then I get Wendy, same CIA verification, same let me call you back on your cell. I just want to know when do I get a bath!!!!!!!!! They literally are the worst BUSINESS I have ever ever ever experienced. I thought the DMV was a nightmare, I thought the IRS was a nightmare I even thought the cable company was bad but nope they are the worse. Go anywhere you will regret going with them. We have had them for 30 years and when they got sold to Allison they were still decent but now I am will suck it up and pay the "tank inspection" and go somewhere else!! read more

I had a leak for years kept telling him I had a leak. They told me they couldn't find one. There was no leak. There was a leak. There was an extremely bad leak in the piping. They should've told me to call the plumber years before. I didn't realize I needed to call the plumber and they weren't able to do an actual test to find the leak. they were able to collect the extra money from the leak never offered to give that back, did they Plumber said the leak had been there for years and that Propane company wasn't able to find because they don't have the proper equipment read more

Zero stars would be more accurate. We called to start new service as we just bought our house. Kamps sent a safety check employee who found a leak. No problem. My husband called plumber who repaired the leak. My husband called back to get tank filled as leak was pressure tested and fixed. Kamps proceeded to send another emergency tech out to our home without permission to access our property at 11:30 pm while I was home alone with our special needs daughter. Tech pounded on our door causing our daughter to be afraid and cry hysterically. Tech gave no explanation or information, stayed at our home for an hour and locked and tagged out our tank, and regulators which belonged to us. Leaving me an my special needs daughter without heat, cooktop, or hot water. While my husband was out of town! Shame on you Kamps! read more

Kamps propane, thanks for locking me out of my own propane and regulator after repeatedly letting you know leak was repaired by licensed professional. I simply requested to be put on schedule to be filled up. Instead your inept employee sent an emergency tech out at 11pm to bang loudly on my door and scare my wife and special needs daughter. I repeatedly asked to have someone rectify this mistake, as I cannot feed my daughter (stove is locked) bathe my daughter, and heat my home. Thanks Kamps Propane You guys are a real class act! Hope others see that this is a company you absolutely want to avoid! Zero out of five stars, thumbs down! read more

TERRIBLE SERVICE! Save your self the headache. I have called 3x to get someone to come out to our property letting them know it's an emergency and I have had zero call back from anyone. It's been 2 weeks! I've been escalated issues twice, still no call back. This place sucks to say the least. I highly suggest that you go to another company that actually appreciates their clients. There's a reason these Gus have 2 stars - even this is too much. They should have ZERO. I hope they go out of business for being unprofessional and providing zero support. read more

Worst service ever. I called them to move my tank a month prior to my contractor starting concrete work. I was told several times someone would call me and they never did till the last day for my contractors starting concrete date. Mind you, I was could ever day a week prior and didn't get a call back the two days before the start date due to me telling them I'm canceling my services. Only than did I get a call to only tell my they could do it prior to the start date but on the start date which leaves my contractor standing around. Anyways, I canceled service and I feel good about it. They have the absolute worst communication. read more

Can't really report on the propane service but possibly on the character. Just got cut off by one of their trucks which proceeded to run a red light. Not sure why anyone would do that in a company vehicle but the reviews speak for themselves. read more

Horrible service all the way around. Not only will you pay higher prices than all other propane companies, if you need any type of service, they will NOT follow through. I finally decided to switch companies and they have yet to pick up their tank; 2 weeks later. Do yourself a favor, go with a different company. read more

There is a reason they only have 2 stars. Avoid doing business with them. Don't waste your time, these people are not reliable at all and are unprofessional. 1st attempt at trying to get a recertification on my propane tanks... I drive up to their facility during normal work hours, their facility was open but they where not providing service. Unable to speak to anyone on site I call and left a message explaining that I was waiting outside, never got a call back so I returned back home. 2nd attempt I called before showing up at the facility to make sure they are open and operational. Unable to reach anyone I fallow the instructions and make sure to show up during the hours stated in their automated system. Unfortunately they where open but again non operational. 3rd attempt I called before showing up at the facility, I make sure to leave them a message asking about their operation hours. They return my call and tell me that yes they are open. I show up to the facility an hour later only to find an empty office, some old lady comes out screaming talking about how I should of called before showing up, telling me how they are busy doing interviews and can not provide service. This was literally 1 hour after I had just spoke to her on the phone. Never again, I rather take my business somewhere else. Again avoid these people. read more

Worst customer service. Super rude and unprofessional, lady on the phone just plain doesn't give one single F.

The girls in the office are argumentative with terrible customer service. They're unreliable, not communicative, and expensive. The drivers are ok. It would be a better business if they replaced the office personnel. read more

My husband and I just moved into our house and were told by sellers not to worry about propane as it was just filled and paid for. One afternoon while I was in the shower someone from Kamps came to our front door and when I didn't answer they kindly let themselves onto our property and into our backyard to put a lock on the propane tank, I was home alone and in the shower! I discovered this later using my Ring recordings. I understand that the previous owners had an agreement with Kamps allowing them to come onto their property but they had no agreement with me at the time they came onto my property! They left a notice on our door and without even 24 hours our propane was shut off. The next morning I went to make myself breakfast and realized we had no gas... I was 8.5 months pregnant at the time. We were left with no hot water or gas for over 24 hours while we figured out this mess. We are strongly considering getting an attorney. read more

Lived in Ramona just under 30 years. Have had 4 propane companies and Kamp's charges were always so high. My poor review is that I just recently moved and gifted the remaining tank to new owners, with confirmed letter to Kamp's prior to sell with this. Kamp's is now billing new owners the propane I paid for, stating they refunded me the money for the propane. No refund completed, no evidence of cleared check, no check copies. Shame on you!! read more

I don't have a complaint about the price or delivery service, my complaint is with someone in the front office...3 months ago I contacted Kamps about an additional tank for a whole house generator I would be installing the first of December. No problem I was told, let us know when the generator install is scheduled. Just now I called to schedule the tank delivery for 12/23 and was asked if I'd filled out the "paperwork"!!! WHAT PAPERWORK I said, I've been your customer for years, no one mentioned PAPERWORK 3 months ago! "Well we need your paperwork before we can schedule a tank delivery in 2-3 weeks" TOTAL INCOMPETENCE read more

Completely dishonest business!! Beware ! We recently did a lease/purchase where it is written in to the contract that all services are transferred. It was also written in the previous purchasers contract. Kamps thinks themselves above the laws mandated by the state of California in real estate contracts. We reached out in good faith to have them check our lines and gas stove and fill the tank. There was existing fuel that was transferred to us via the contract, as was with the previous owner. Kamp then contacted not the current home owner but the person who sold the house 1.5 years ago. Told us they sent them a refund for the gas in the tank and were making us pay for what came contractually with the house. We have a copy of their purchase contract. Then they took 460 dollars from us to have our tank filled to which they have never attempted to even deliver. Dishonest people cheating the people who try to keep them in business. As I see from the other reviews we are not their first victims . Pick one of the other propane carriers. We will be researching to fine the most honest and reputable. Disgusting people who lie, cheat and steal to make a dollar do not deserve your business. See you in court!! read more

Been a customer for the past 9 years !! Recently we ran out of propane and called several times and finally got a hold of someone and they had them come out 2 days later and filled the tank . They also charged me $120 to come out then hit me with a " leak and Safty check " for $80 and charged us about $2.60 a gallon for propane. Ferrellgas is at $1.67 talk about taking advantage of a situation!!!! Having them come get there full tank and getting rid of thies horrible guys !!!! When I spoke to them about the $80 change and the $120 they seemed to not care and told me that we get charged more then there normal route customers " wow" talk about a slap in the face then I told them I was leaving and the lady didn't even care about losing a customer. After almost 3 weeks and a bunch of phone calls to their office we finally got our propane. In reading other Yelp reviews I see our story seems to be business as usual at Kamps. Fortunately my wife is on top of things and initially called when we were at 15% left in our tank. Kamps said they'd be there in about a week to fill us - didn't show up so we called them and were told it would probably be by the end of the week, only to have them not show up. This played out over the next two weeks with my wife calling them, Kamps telling us they'd likely be here in a few days, and then the day passes and they are a no-show. What I can't understand is how in the world they don't know the lead time for propane delivery. They should know the moment you call how many deliveries they have scheduled ahead of you and how long it will take to get to you. To be told time and time again they'd be here, only for them not to show, is infuriating. They are either flat out lying or monumentally incompetent. Meanwhile, for over two weeks we aren't running the heat, taking barely warm quick showers and holding off on laundry. This horrendous customer service is unacceptable. I am seriously considering buying my own tank so I can purchase propane from whoever has the lowest price and can actually deliver when I need propane. read more

I have dealt with Kamps for many years And in the beginning they weren't half bad.. They let me make payments on my propane and would come fill me as soon as they could Normally the next Monday if I was that low.. Recently I was told I'm not on a stay full because I missed a payment when my mother passed away.. That's fine I never was on a stay full! Not they say I am on a stay full came twice in 4 weeks filled me twice??? Charges me $1000!! Telling me I'm on a stay full lol The driver left trash and never gave me a bill even I found them in the DIRT! And sent them pictures of it all! So I start smelling gas? Wtf. Go check the tank and I'm at 3% ! Call and she tells me I had a balance that's why they didn't come fill me!! So I am to go till Thursday a week! With nothing ! No mind you I owned them $500 when they came and FILLED my tank a few weeks ago! Sara, whom I speak with was extremely rude to me! Telling me I my story was inconsistent?? And that I owned a balance! Mind you they have a meter they can see from their office! That's what they told me before!! When I questioned her she remarked.." we can't babysit people's gas tanks!! This is a company who used to call me if I had a small balance to tell me that they were coming our way but I'd like to put my balance on my credit card so she is full of shit very rude and I am done with them .. I never leave reviews but this company is awful. Been with them since Patriot opened the company and it was great to do business with them. When Kamps took over with new manager Jeff Jones. Moved into a new place, and the Kamps propane tank was low, so I called Kamps asking for a refill, explaining the situation. They said no problem and came out a week later to fill it up, but they left a receipt for the old owner with no way for me to pay. 2 weeks later, I go outside and there is a note on the door and the propane tank is locked without warning. Why didn't Kamps tell me about this when I called and explained the situation? Or again, when the driver showed up to fill the tank? Or even leave me a warning notice? This customer service model is about 100 years behind. How can you expect a new potential customer to just figure out your process without any guidance... There are dozens of similar reviews. Kamps corporatespeak response to these is "It's 'challenging' for Kamps to do the right thing when we shut off your propane" and "this is a teaching moment for us". That's all you need to know. Pissing off potential new customers should not be 'hard' for the company to not do; and given that their hostile policies are causing the same problems time and again, it's obvious the "teaching moment" is simply an opportunity for Kamps competitors to grow their businesses. read more

It's never been easy with Kamps. Getting them to come to my home and fill my tank is always a problem. I'm not exaggerating. You have to plead to get them to come to your home. This week I received a promotion in the mail. A special price for tank fill-up. I called and asked them to come out and fill my tank. After I pleaded for a few minutes the girl agreed to send the driver. When the driver arrived he refused to fill my tank because it was at 46% tank capacity. There's a lot of gallons between 46% and full tank. Some kind of bait and switch. There was no mention in the mailer about minimum or maximum tank fill up. read more

I'm a new homeowner in a gated community with propane. Kamps was the provider for the previous owner. They came to my property and locked my tank so that propane which was already paid for could not be used & left a scrawled, paper note at the door. I had guests up at my place and due to this unannounced lock out, we could not cook dinner. I may be missing some info since I am new to purchasing propane for a home, but I can tell you that they will not have my business going forward. Terrible first impression of their customer service. read more

Worst service ever. From literally day 1. There is no communication whatsoever within this company. They change delivery days on you without even telling you. And the customer service staff can't even tell you why. Then they cancel the 2nd delivery date because the truck isn't able to get up the road after rain. Well, had you come out the original delivery day you wouldn't have had any issues. Now we are having to wait yet another week. And they charged us Nov 24th! Prepay, but you may never get your propane. Nice. read more

KAMPS PROPANE of Ramona, CA-excellent service, quality work, affordable! Here's why we made the switch after being without propane for THREE weeks! Discovered our tank was near empty. Called Pro-flame (our propane provider at the time.) They came out, said we had a leak in the gas line, put a lock on the tank, told us to call a plumber to replace the gas line.... and BILLED us $70 for a "service call"!! Unfortunately the plumber we called came out and gave us an estimate for $2,600!!! Called another plumber who didn't want to bother to even come look at it. Called a friend (former plumber) and he advised us to call another propane company. So glad we called Kamps! They came out the next day. Said they'd replace our tank, put in a new gas line and whole new system for under $200 if we would dig our own trench. He showed us exactly where and how to dig. Once we finished our trench, Kamps promptly came back, did exactly as they said they'd do for well under $200! Kamps filled up our tank for 1.59/gallon (newbie price.) We are now up and running! We couldn't be more pleased with the EXCELLENT customer service, quality work and honest business practices provided by Kamps propane. Have seen some less than favorable reviews on yelp, hoping they continue the level of customer service we received read more

I switched to kamps after continually being lied to, over charged, and completely disgusted with proflame. What a difference in every aspect of business practices. Even the delivery drivers are great. I was on Leroy's route at first, then Dave's, and now Tua's. Three great drivers, and they all respected my unique delivery situation, and were happy to comply. I only wished I would have switched to them sooner. read more

I have lived in Ramona for many years. I used a propane company I was very satisfied with previously. Kamps promised several things to me and I changed companies due to those promises. Big mistake. 1. They promised free tank rental if I used their propane. 2. They priced their propane very low. But the reality is the bill I received was 4 times the promised amount. 3. It took 4 months to put in a Kamps tank. 4 Months! And another 6 months for the situation (an inflated bill) to be resolved. They called often to attempt to collect the inflated bill (of 4 times the promised bill). It was not until I informed them I was going to contact their corporate office that they shortly called back and that my bill was corrected and balance was 0. 4. The ordeal of dealing with them over so many months and having them try to collect inflated bills caused a lot of stress. And it went on and on and on. And in a way it still continues because they continue to send inflated current bills. I wouldn't recommend you contact Kamps in Ramona with any complaints that you may have. I would recommend you call the corporate office directly and let them know your experience. My understanding is the Ramona office is owned by the Corporate office at this time. I am so unhappy with Ramona Kamp's unprofessionalism and absolute dishonesty time and time again. When my propane is out, I am so done. I will definitely contact the corporate office myself and let them know of my dealings with the Ramona office. read more

Going out of business? Same experience as other reviewers this past two weeks. All calls, even during business hours, rolled over to their answering service. Answering service confirmed they had received tons of calls. What is crazy is that corporate Kamps had no knowledge. I called corporate assuming local dealer had gone out of business. Only after calling corporate office in Bay area did I get a local return call. Response was "will try" to deliver this week but may be next week. If phones had been answered last two weeks there wouldn't be an issue. Now I'm facing running out of propane. There are problems at two levels. Kamps, which is a large business out of the Bay area bills itself as a family business. A family business wouldn't be that disconnected from such issues. Tim Blankenhiem, VP Operations, need to get his organization under control. At the local level, it is clear things have gone drastically wrong. It is not simply a demand spike issue when you are not returning calls for weeks. This local team has historically been decent. But you can't fail like this when you're providing a basic utility service. read more

no complaints, service and personnel reasonable. switched from another supplier that was horrible and have no reason to switch again.

It's been over 6 months since I called Kamps and requested my tank be filled. I've been using 5 gallon bbq tanks and going every several weeks having them filled at Tractor Supply. I endured the misery for the sake to see if Kamps would ever come. Guess what, they didn't. Well I'm moving so I did the right thing and notified them I would be not be needing their tank anymore. Explained to the lady I was moving and I also didn't expect a bill because I have had an empty tank and waiting on them since FEBRUARY!!! Her response is killer..."Okay"....and that was it. I shouldn't have expected anymore but a mere apology was really all I was looking for. Take heed folks and good luck this winter if you're a Kamps customer. read more

Bad service. We have been waiting for days, calling, leaving messages, and nothing. We are running out.

Well, after reading the recent reviews, I can see we are not the only ones experiencing problems with Kamps. I am giving them 2 stars rather than 1 because this company used to be stellar (I'll give them credit for that). During a very, very cold spell in February we were unable to get our heater to run and the flame on the stove was so low that we couldn't cook anything on it. We had plenty of propane in our tank so we knew there had to be another issue. After many calls and promises from them to come out & address the issue, we finally got a new regulator and thought that would be the end of our problems. We now are going through propane like crazy and the flame on our stove pulsates. We are not using the heater or any of our other gas appliances any more than usual so we think there must be a leak somewhere or maybe something is wrong with our new regulator. We have been calling on this issue since 3/29/19. I have waited for returns calls and twice wasted two full days at home after being told someone would be coming out. After expressing my frustration on Saturday about this issue (I called the emergency line), I finally got a call yesterday (Monday) from Bill (a supervisor???). He assured me he would get back to me by the end of the day to tell me when someone would be out ... no call! It's now 11:30 on Tuesday and still no call from Bill. I have no idea what is going on with this company but I can't waste any more time (or propane) trying to rectify this problem with them. They are unresponsive and don't seem to be interested in resolving the issue. It really is a shame. They used to be a great company. I still think the world of their driver Leroy. He is the BEST! He is efficient, kind and really seems to care about people. I hope they treat him well. Think twice about doing business with Kamps!! Hopefully, somewhere down the road, they will get their act together again. read more

If you are new to Ramona, and need/use propane, you can trust the Kamps company!!! "Life" happens and I was not as diligent as I should have been in checking the propane level. Yikes! After spending the last 9 days trying to solve our propane problem, we have reverted to where we started and will be staying with Kamps. I have changed my rating to 3 stars based on the office customer service of 1 star and the Ramona manager customer service of 5 stars. If I were to write the review today, based on our recent experience, it would be something like this: Customer Service from the office could be better. Our recent experience has been less than stellar. A month ago they let us run out of propane at our house in Julian even though they have their cell phone gauge on our tank. Either it doesn't work or they don't check it. And now we have run out again after only 30 days. It's been unusually cold the whole month and we have gone through more propane than usual. Then my wife was talking with the Ramona office this afternoon (2/21) and complained that we are freezing and trying to find out when they will be here, and when my wife said it sounded like incompetence, the office receptionist just hung up on her! Management needs to get staff better trained on how to deal with upset customers. In talking with other residents of Pine Hills, it sounds like all the propane companies have customer service issues and are not well prepared for snow episodes, which happen every year to one extent or another. In reviewing our options, we have decided not to change propane companies and will be staying with Kamps. The Ramona manager is very responsive and helpful and we have propane now. The best solution is to buy your own tank so you can just call whatever propane company you want. But that would have been a good idea when we built our house years ago so the cost could have been amortized over all these years. Not sure today it makes economic sense. read more

Do not use this company for any reason !!!! Literally told me, the customer is of no concern to them. Been a customer for 12 years and owner told me he did not care. I am a recent widow trying to figure out all the details of a household I only know partially. My propane went to 2% due to emails not going to my account. I had no clue I was running out ......so called scared and a little panicked! It's freezing and I have no hot water . They said for an emergency fill it would be almost $680. (Usual fill is under $300) I don't have that kind of money, and asked for some kind of alternative. The owner Bill, said he had no time for this and hung up on me. Please, consider other companies. This profit only driven company is rude, does not service its customers, and more expensive than others ( check in to Ferrel or Amerigas) All of my neighbors have switched as well, for very similar customer service and cost reasons. Call Rae at Amerigas in the Ramona office. She is so nice and completely focused on customers with amazing follow through! read more
