So far the price and customer service with Kamps can't be beat. I've just started my relationship with them but the ladies on the phone and the guys that came to my house are all all stars. Hopefully they retain and continue to improve on the wonderful service. read more

THANKS SOOO MUCH SONIA!!Having lived in the Barona area since 2005, I've received propane from 2 companies so far and once something is working well I don't have a tendency to change it. However, times are hard and I wanted to call around and see how much other companies are charging for propane. I called every company that does propane delivery and Kamps in Alpine had them beat. They had a great 1st time customer deal, lowest current price per gallon for existing customers and the tank rental fee was almost half of my current fee. I had read some negative reviews and was worried about switching companies even with the savings I would get. Luckily, Sonia, (who is a rock star!!!) Really helped me out. I hadn't heard back after my original inquiry for service so I decided to call back after few days.. luckily, Sonia answered and within minutes she assessed our needs, explained the process and sent me the application to my email.. .She even prefilled the form for me based on my answers!!! All I had to do is review and sign...gotta love it! A glitch had come up on my application and rather than leave me hanging, Sonia personally called me to follow up on the matter, attained the correct info and gave me instant approval on the spot after she ran it through their system. That's customer service at its best....Thank you so much, Kamps and all the customers you help are blesses to have you there..!!! Maybe some of the negative reviews were a result of not being patient or not taking the time to see the human being on the other end of the line. I figure if I'm rude and approach things for an entitled perspective, then of course people will be rude in return but generally speaking sincere kindness and appreciation is great for all of us..thanks again Sonia!! read more

I've been using kamps for 4 years now, I'm appalled at the reception service we get, the little girl that I had the misfortune to speak with was very rude and hung up on me, your job can't be that hard sweetheart. Paid 330 dollars for one gallon of propane, told them I was out and the propane is only for the heater, six days later and I still don't have propane. You call this a family oriented business but I disagree, my husband and I are very sick right now, I'm disabled and my kids are freezing. I'm a retired correctional officer and served in the army! If this is how you treat family well shame on you. Tried to contact corporate office, no call back, what I'd really like is to speak with the owners! For now I will have to speak to the press maybe they'll care enough to write about the poor quality at kamps. My ratings are way less than a star but you have to put something to submit this. read more

Dave Conners was very helpful with our setup at our new house! Got all of our pilot lights lit and checked our system for leaks. Very profes6and courteous! read more

Rated the best propane company in San Diego by its customers .... KAMPS! Before you fall victim to thievery by County Propane, who robbed me multiple times, I had to call corporate to fix their injustices, STOP! Save yourself the nightmare and go to KAMP and be blessed!  First, KAMPS offered us an awesome introductory rate.  Second, KAMPS set up an amazing newer, better tank (others: a rusty eyesore!)  Third, they cared about us and checked all of our appliances.  I had been having trouble with a newer oven since I got it and found out it was set up wrong within the broiler and building soot. Even though Blake wasn't able to fix it, he was able to tell us the soot build up was due to it being set for natural gas. The lever was frozen and wouldn't move for him, so he couldn't fix it. But we stopped using the oven for six months and Blake probably saved us from being blown up. Sears repairman came out and they said we needed a new oven, he couldn't fix it either. and they wouldnt replace it under a 3 year full warranty.  So we paid for Best Buy to put in a brand new oven and paid for an expert to set it up. Thankfully, I called KAMPS to check it to be sure it was set up properly!  KAMPS sent us their best repairman, DAVE who discovered the new oven was also set up wrong and their repairman left with the extra parts he didn't install, that came with the oven's conversion kit, for one burner on the stove. So I had to call LG and they resent us those parts. KAMPS BEST REPAIRMAN Dave solved all of these newbee installer and repairman errors in less than 45 minutes! (Honestly, he should be teaching classes.) He fixed our new oven, our old oven and couldn't believe that no one else was able to fix it! I could tell the way he was working, he knew what he was doing. He had my oven out and the other oven apart in seconds. He checked all our appliances and treated us like he cared!  Thank you Dave and thank you KAMPS for sending us Dave who blessing our family! read more

I started out with Patriot Propane in Ramona and did not have a problem with them, then we moved out of town. upon coming back to town, the house we bought had ferrrel gas. they over charged us, so we swithced to Kamps because they bought out Patriot. Wow, this is turning out to be a mistake. What happened to this place?? They say they wont fill your tank unless your under 30%. well now twice they have, and the last time they did it they overfilled it because propane prices are going down for summer. so they stuff it fuller than it should be to charge me the high price, when I had 50% and couldve easily made it to summer when prices are lower. When I called, Chris never even really denied that this was why I was overfilled and instanty wanted to give me a discount. Huh?? They have so much profit in the pricing that they can pull a buck a gallon off with out even hesitating! Their pricing is all over the map. Two people call, and you will get 2 different prices. Check the BBB site for the same complaint, they fill when they want to not when you do. read more

This was my welcome to Jamul, by Kamps Propane. Someone from their office came on to my property, disconnected my propane tank, and then put a lock on it. How they legally got on the property, since the agreement was with the last owner and not me, as they point out, is still a question in my mind. Nevertheless they did that, left no note, didn't knock, nothing. So, I come back from a business trip to find no hot water for showers or clothes. Kamps informed me I have to put in an application, they do a credit check, and then schedule an appt (this has thus far taken more than a week, all without hot water courtesy of Kamps). This is about the most unethical way for a company to do business I've ever seen: create a crisis that a newly relocating family has to deal with, and they'll take the first/quickest option -- please turn it back on Kamps, I don't even care how much it costs--kind of situation. Great if your Kamps, not so good if you want to shop around. Unfortunately, Kamps screwed this one up so much I did shop around and went with All State Propane. Whom I called on a Wednesday at 1pm and will have someone here on a Friday at 0800 with a new tank and technician. I couldn't even get the Kamps technician to call me back. Switch if you can... read more

Kamps propane probably wipes out an entire forest every year with the ridiculous amount of paper mailings every month for billing. Hey, I am on your budget pay monthly, it's a set amount for projected use, I don't need a bill with a return envelope every month along with another one showing any activity at the end of the month and one for the fill itself along with a printed receipt left at my door. Can you not offer an electronic option in this day and age? I have been a customer now for 6 years and things have not gotten better. They have poor customer service in my opinion. All I want is for them to round in my neighborhood at least once every 4 to 6 weeks and top off my tank. Nope! I usually have to get super low after I start to smell gas and call them to come out and fill it. Even their "smart meter" was a "dumb meter" it was supposed to alert them to tank levels so they would automatically fill your tank, nope it never worked either. You would think when it gets cold here, around the holidays, maybe it would be nice to round at least once a month, nope again, we have actually almost run out on Christmas twice. Then when you are so low that you need a total fill of course it's mucho expensive. Naturally, they raise the cost of the propane in the fall& winter when you need it most! read more

We were first won over by Kamps when a rep was in the neighborhood shortly after we moved in, which we count as divine timing (we were already angry with County Pro Flame, whose tank was on our new property). Our first year of perks was very generous with no hidden "catch." Our satisfaction with Kamps has never worn out. Whenever I call to pay a bill or schedule a fill, the office staff are polite, even if I can hear that they're busy. I'm really bad about watching the gauge and only call when we're just about empty, but they're always out within a day of my call. Our route driver, Bart, is polite and allows my son to ask him about every detail of the truck as he drags his hose to our tank. The office staff also tipped me off as to how propane prices seasonally rise and fall so can strategize our tank fills -- who does that?! read more

I love this company, no matter who you use, these guys are the best. Friendly, less expensive and way better service than the other company I used in the "County", I highly reccomend them. read more

WOW...these people are wonderful to work with. I called at 8:00 am with an empty tank of another company's that I wanted to switch out and by 11:30 we had a brand new tank installed, the whole propane sysetm checked out for proper operation! Richard was great to talk to and was very helpful in explaining how a system operates and what to look for if something goes wrong. From Customer Service to installation...Fantastic!! read more

Can't trust what they tell you. Was told we never fill until it's under 30%, and I depended on that and it was filled at just under 50% so I hadn't saved money for the propane bill yet. Last week I told them I'd call this week to pay the bill and yesterday I got a notice from a collection agency. And, every year, the certification fee comes earlier and earlier. I will be changing companies when the current tank is empty. And with the cost of delivery, I'll be making arrangements to have a smaller tank I can take in and fill myself. read more

I have been with Kamps propane for a year plus. I had Amerigas that turned into a nightmare, then Proflame. One nightmare after the other. I switched to Kamps after asking friends and neighbors who they used. I have had positive interactions with both the office and especially Ray, the delivery person. Always calls to let me know when he's in the area to check on my usage. I'm a will-call client so this is important to me. Thanks Ray for being so considerate read more

I manage the bills for my elderly mother. Kamps in Alpine has been a pleasure to work with. Every time I have called, the girls in the office have been pleasant and have answered all of my questions, never losing patience with me. If I needed propane at my house I would go with this great outfit. read more

Kamps is great! We recently switched from Pro-Flame of Ramona (see full story on their Yelp page) and I am so glad we did! Kamps employees are professional and it's obvious that customer service is important to them. They were kind enough to remove Pro-Flame's tank for us, since Pro-Flame kept stringing us along, and promptly sent us a bill after the fill-up. You pay for the propane when Kamps fills the tank so you pay a bulk price rather than having the metered tank from Pro-Flame, which costs more! THANK YOU KAMPS! read more

Kamps was able to change out my propane tank when other companies failed. I have a steep, curvy driveway that must be climbed in order to access the tank location. Kamps had just the right equipment to do the job. Their installation technician Blake did an outstanding and efficient job and he showed up when he said he would. It certainly didn't hurt that their prices are extremely competitive. Highly recommended. read more

Ok, I have to upgrade my previous review, but don't know how to do it, so I'll add a new review. I received a phone call from Craig at Kamps last week to apologize for the problems I had and asked if he could do anything to help. I told him I didn't know and would have to think about it. Tonight I received a fruit gift basket from him. I know I'm not supposed to put in a review for getting a freebie, but, they didn't ask me to update my review so I feel it's ok to give them a kudos for the efforts to keep me as a customer. read more

I gave Kamps a one star rating at this time because of the adversarial customer service call that I just experienced. When I first signed up Holly (office staff) and the service crew were awesome. (5 stars for their service). Unfortunately, I didn't realize that I sighed up for "auto delivery" and while gone this weekend my tank was filled with the winter pricing rate. I never fill my tank in the winter because it's too expensive. I called customer service to discuss my surprise $574 bill and was dismayed with the attitude of the rep. She was dismissive and basically said too bad since I signed up for auto fill so they don't need authorization to come on my property and fill my tank. Seriously? She ended up giving me a minuscule discount on each gallon which lowered my monstrous bill by about $22. Very disappointing and not at all what would be considered decent customer service. Be aware and read your contract. Obviously, their customer service could care less. This definitely left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

Great Custome Service!!! I called Kamps looking for a new propane company today and they came out to my house a couple hours later :) Amazing!! they r not super salesy because they dont need to be.. they are nice honest people who actually care about their customers. I am very happy with this company!!! read more

At first, I was very impressed with this propane company. The salesman was very professional and they offered very competitive rates for our area. However, as the years have gone by, I have become less impressed. The office staff is rude and I have now run out of propane 3 times (I'm supposed to be on automatic refill). The billing dept in the past has been very inconsistent as well, sending only past due notices and never the initial bill. I am currently waiting for a call to get my tank refilled and then we will be switching propane companies. read more

I have been a customer of KAMP's for more than 2 years, The customer service is absolutely horrible. My most recent problem was when I called to have my service discontinues. I called about 3 weeks in advance and was told that it would be better if I called back a week before the date I wanted to discontinue service because the request would just get lost if I submitted it this far in advance. Apparently they don't own a computer for scheduling. Two days later (24 days early) a technician shows up at my house to shut off my gas supply, I just feel lucky that he was "smart" enough to knock on the door first. I am not sure how competitive the other LP suppliers in the area are but the customer service couldn't be any worse. As a follow up there is a 25% RESTOCKING charge on any product left in the tank. Of course this was not mentioned when I signed up for service. read more

I have used Kamps Propane for the last ten years, and I am fairly happy with their service. One thing that I really like, is that they will honor the cheapest price in town for propane. I called around to different propane services in San Diego County, and found one place that had propane for over $1 cheaper per gallon. I called Kamps back with the name of the company, and the name of who I spoke to, and Kamps then honored that price, which saved me almost $150.00 off of Kamps original estimated price! When the delivery man filled the tank, it didn't take as much to fill it, as was originally thought, so I had a refund coming, which the sweet delivery man DID tell me about. (The delivery man is not responsible for my refund, though.) It has been three weeks since that delivery, and I have not been contacted by the company about my refund, nor has it been refunded back to my credit card. I have since emailed the company, and am waiting for their response. (This is actually the second time that I have been owed a refund. The first time, they said they would credit it to my propane account. I said, "NO! This is MY money, and it should be in MY pocket, so they credited it back to my credit card, finally!) read more
