Called on 9/30 on behalf on my 92 year old mother n law trying to get her tank filled. Spoke with Laura and explained her situation and as a customer service person, she was absolutely worthless. After about 20 mins with her explaining over and over i requested to speak with a supervisor and was eventually transferred to Ashley. I explained the situation to her and she seemed to understand. I requested a delivery date sooner than 10/10 to which said that she would contact the delivery people in the morning and give me a call back on 9/1. Didn't hear from her so I called today. After 40 mins of explaining the situation and asking to speak to Ashley (who just happened to be busy) I left the phone call with the person who said she would request a call back to me from Ashley or another supervisor. Total frustration made me agree knowing that the phone call would come just like the one I was supposed to get from Ashley, NOT! Common courtesy dictates that if you tell a customer that you will call them back on a certain date, then the call should be made even if you don't have the solution to the problem at that time. How this company can stay in business with the terrible uneducated phone customer service employees that I have encountered this week is an absolute mystery. What other company would push out a delivery date for a 92 year old lady who has no hot water. WORTHLESS WORTHLESS WORTHLESS! read more

Zero stars would be more appropriate. Called over a week ago and was told they'd be here today. No one showed up and I called and was not given a straight answer as to when we would get our propane filled despite being completely out of propane with two elderly people living in our home. Awful company. read more

I have been a Kamps (Alpine CA) customer for approximately eight years. Since Superior Propane has taken over the company, the price of propane delivery has gone up. I have called the company several times over the past several months to discuss price and I'm always told (at least three times) the manager, Eric Navarre, will call, which never happened. In December 2025, they filled my tank without my request, even though I cancelled automatic refill service. I called them immediately and cancelled my auto pay and was told my credit card had not yet been charged. The next day, the card was charged without my permission. I called again and was told the manager would call me, and I have still not heard back. I do not recommend this company. Clearly a management problem at this business. read more

We're supposed to get a discount for our association in Jamul. The prices are about 75 cents over local companies per gallon plus 25 dollar junk fees per fill. I asked for a rebill. I think it's now a canadian company. They can't really do anything with pricing, except to overcharge people. The local office is rude and does not have any customer service or compassion. I asked them how to cancel their services professionally and go to another company. They told me that they were gonna pick up their tank. I said I need to get new service first, and they're completely unreasonable people. Very difficult to work with stay away. I am Calling the county and state to report excessive fees and lack support changing companies. I will not be held hostage. read more

I called to review my bill and the rep rude, combative, and completely uninformative. The worst customer service since Superior Plus Propane. Review the call you received on 3/7 at 8:58 am PST. read more

Lamps Propane. Energy for everyone. They told me on the phone my first time would be 50% off. It would be 198. After they did the job my bill was twice that. Illegal practice and unethical. They flat out denied it. Better get it I writing. I will never use them again and I am telling every about this. read more

They should really train their drivers to be more respectful of children and school zones! This driver blasted through a school zone at 8:57am this morning (school starts at 9:00am) at 55 mph and did not stop for kids crossing the crosswalk! Almost hit them! Absolutely disgusting! Have more respect for the small town of Alpine and our kids!!!!! read more

Kamps Propane - This asshole driver with no respect for a school zone! - Propane Near Me - Alpine, California

Its pretty sad with a seller closes escrow on a house and gifts the remaining propane in the tank to the buyer and provided a letter to Kamps which was acknowledged by them, then they continue to try to bill the buyer for the remaining gas that was already paid for in full buy the seller. Their office cannot seem to get it together! I always recommend to my buyers to switch companies if Kamps is currently at the property. SHAME ON THEM! read more

Kamps is a POS! All I need is a tank filled up and they have to do a pressure check for $125? Tell me they have to a pressure check whenever they fill up a tank come on! This BS! Never had to do it the other 99 times before when they filled it up. All they had to do was fill up my tank. There was no need to relight my pilot light or Check my stove or hot water heater! Kamps is the very best propane company we've ever had... I give them more than 5 stars. Very polite, on time with service, etc

It takes over a week to get someone on the phone or a call back. So disappointing and completely unacceptable when people are depending on propane as an essential. Can you imagine if you called SDGE and they said once an account is set up they'll turn in service but you've waited over a week and with multiple calls there's still nothing? read more

Just had to cancel my services with kamps been waiting 5 days for a fill. They dont answer thier phones and get back to you at their convenience. We are below 10% and Sonia told us they can't get to us for 10 days and it would be after Thanksgiving. Kamps takes your money in advance so we paid $400 on the 14th and wouldn't have propane until after the holidays so the 26th if we are lucky. We have a small child and everything in our house runs on propane. This is unacceptable we can't live like this. Sonia is extremely rude, horrible customer service and does not care about their customers. She truly gives the company a bad image. I recommend not dealing with Sonia if you choose to use this company. read more

How a company can legally charge you for not using their service is beyond me. I was charged upon move in for the gas that was already there as well as an initial set up fee and route fee. I used it for 3 months and never again. It's been over a year and a half since it's been filled and I called to cancel after they charged me $66 for simply having their tank. I called to cancel and told them to pick up the tank and now they want Dishonest company! Buyer beware! read more

I don't have a complaint about the price or delivery service, my complaint is with someone in the front office...3 months ago I contacted Kamps about an additional tank for a whole house generator I would be installing the first of December. No problem I was told, let us know when the generator install is scheduled. Just now I called to schedule the tank delivery for 12/23 and was asked if I'd filled out the "paperwork"!!! WHAT PAPERWORK I said, I've been your customer for years, no one mentioned PAPERWORK 3 months ago! "Well we need your paperwork before we can schedule a tank delivery in 2-3 weeks" TOTAL INCOMPETENCE read more

The most unfriendly customer service Just plain rude. I called a week ago for a 100 gal fill. Told me that they would be out on Thursday well no one showed up, called anything I'm on COD. How funny I thought COD meant cash on delivery. Not at Kamps Alpine. It means they take your money the day you call them and come whenever they feel like it. And oh there's a 65.00 a year "maintenance fee" what do they maintain all year?? NOTHING!!! Can't wait until my contract is over so I can go somewhere else. Very Unprofessional company. Wish I could give 0 stars read more

I can't tell you how great their service has been the last 5 years . Ginny is amazing she is reliable and responsive and understands my consumer needs when I need it. Thank you again Ginny and Kamps for your amazing service !!! read more

I want to compliment DAVE (technician) for going above and expectations when surveying our property for a gas leak, and THEN helping us to find a reputable plumber to solve that problem, and THEN coming out to the property again to survey, keeping in touch with us and the plumber to add another tank closer to the pool that would save a lot of $$$---versus redoing the original pipe for much more $$$!!! WOW! So impressed with his humble and down-to-earth manner and communication. I hope Kamp's keeps him around a long while! read more

John Martin (think that is his name) was amazing, very informative and kind and efficient! He answered all our questions and even told us info we would need for the future. Definitely recommend this company! thanks from Carl dr read more

Inflexible. Don't work with customers struggling to pay. They say they do, they offer easy pay contracts, etc., but we had to wait months to get on it and in the meantime were expected to pay the full bill in one go. This is not a good time to be squeezing people, especially when they have always paid their bills. Pricing not competitive either. Customer service, when pressed, go from cordial to having an attitude and argumentative. read more

Called today for my tank to get filled. I have been using propane over 30 years (last few years with Kamps). Girl was so rude!!! Never have I had to tell the percentage of the remaining propane in the tank. I would say almost in the red, in the red, or whatever applied. This rude lady kept insisted that she needed that information. Her attitude was awful, I plan to call a manager tomorrow. read more

These people should be ashamed of themselves, their business practices, what they represent...but they aren't. After noticing a significant price hike in our last propane fill, I contacted Kamps to inquire why. The representative had no phone etiquette, but the bottom line was if I were to shop competitors and find one that offers less (that wasn't a new customer special) that they'd refund the difference. It wasn't difficult to call and find better prices, but life happened and I forgot to follow through. So surprise! January rolls around, our tank was NOT in need of a refill yet, but Kamps decided it was time to make a surprise visit (they normally call ahead but didn't) and fill our tank. They charged us nearly a dollar more than our last fill a few months ago, and tacked on our annual tank rental fee. The bill was $700 - in the middle of a pandemic, with no payment plan, no warning. So they automatically charge my card, then decide to give me a call today to get my new card because my current one is expiring. Um why? So they can surprise charge me again in a couple of months. I'm thinking perfect opportunity to tell them I called competitors AGAIN and Kamps was charging nearly $.80 more per gallon. The lady was HORRENDOUSLY rude. Immediately argued what she told me before, didn't care I had PHYSICAL proof, because she was right and I was wrong. I then told her I had no intention of staying with them and to take me off any kind of auto fill because they had gone against their written and verbal agreements with me. Bottom line, they tease you with great new customer specials and then treat you like trash as soon as you're out of contract. I literally cried on the phone and the woman had no reflection of empathy in her voice or demeanor. There's nothing we can do at this point, but I'll tell you they are one of the most unethical companies I have ever worked with. They do not care about their customers or reputation. read more

Dave from Kamps was incredibly helpful to me in a difficult situation. When they told me the previous owners of the house I just purchased had plumbed the propane completely wrong, Dave helped refer to me to a plumber to help and assisted with solutions, including helping to move the tank to another location, cleaning up my tank so I could use it and not have to lease one, and getting me propane when I desperately needed it for the weekend for my kids. He was super responsive and helpful. I don't know I could have gotten through it all without his great service. Thank you! read more

I thought there was a gas leak today and Dave figured out what was going on in less than 5 minutes. Not only that but he called later to make sure my water heater was working after having the propane shut off. Great customer service!!!! read more

The new year is here, and I expect my fuel costs to go up. Not because kamps employee,s all want a Mercedes Benz. NO, NO, we as a nation import more fuel than we produce!!!! Why is That??? We are not energy Independent!!!! Why is THAT??? Government Regulations. So I say, Thank You, Brandon. A few years back I had an issue, I was unable to explain my case, so I wrote Craig Linden a letter. Within days he called, he understood, two very fine service men arrived, problem solved. NOW, I have a very expensive Carrier Furnace, for the last year I have been dealing with in not wanting to start up properly, Consistently ...When I saw my very expensive propane level drop!! I called the largest A.C. Service Co. in town, to fix the unit, they spent hours checking out the furnace, they even called Carrier direct!!!! No real solutions!! They wanted the propane tank checked out, to eliminate it as a problem.... So Dave Conner arrived, the tank checked out, propane was OK. Dave then observed the furnace operate, or shall we say NOT operate, he removed the burner assembly, and removed a small piece of debris, hidden from site, that was restricting the flame from connecting with the last burner!! The unit now works!!!! THANK YOU, DAVE CONNER....... Go Kamps........mike read more

Forgot to mention in my review below - Kamps has never, not once in 10 years called me or informed me when they would deliver. Not once. _____________________________________________________________________________ Waiting over 1 week for a delivery. Out of propane. No heat, hot water, or cooking for over 1 week. Wait over a week to pay over $4.30 a gallon??? Won't give a date or time to provide delivery. Same sad unresponsive story every time I call to ask status. No concern for how unhealthy this is. Received one star only because I can't give a zero. Service for over 10 years. This season they don't seem to know what it is to have customers. Called multiple times, get switched to answering machine because they don't want to pick up the phone. They have never offered the electronic monitoring I've just learned about from a neighbor that would have prevented this. read more

Last year Kamps Propane let us run out of propane on a weekend and they wouldn't come and fill us up. They took us off the auto fill program by mistake. Yesterday we ran out again and we're on auto fill with an active good credit card so they can get paid right away. We have a very good credit rating and nothing has been attempted on the CC. So last night it took two hours to get the call back and the guy who said they had issues, and he couldn't come until 8:00 AM, well it 8:45 and no one is here. What happened to the old days with customer service where they got in the truck and came and filled you up? I called and the answering service this morning and it's still on because they have so many people that are out of PROPANE! Just want good customer service! Oh they installed a 5G system to monitor the propane last month and they didn't note that it was low? The new 5 G device is missing a screw and is lose. Just to add to my review....my wife just got a call from Kamps and they women said it was a curtsey call that the deliverly would be sometime today! We were told 8:00 AM? She was very rude with my wife....I just reviewed the posts below and it looks like the some of the office staff need some customer service training. WHat's going on at that office? It would be nice to have the office manager or owner call us. read more

I have been happy with Kamps until now. I called because I am at zero, I can't cook or take a hot shower, in the past I have been low and they come out within 1 day, now that I am at zero, I have been waiting 3 days. It wouldn't have been so bad, but when I call for an update the girl in the office was so rude! Not Diane or Diana, she's always nice, but the other girl who doesn't give her name. read more

I just moved into a new house that has a sizable propane tank that came with it. I had initially filled the tank with a different company and I thought that I was being treated fairly by them until it came time to refill. Suddenly their prices almost doubled and I was told that they would only service my tank if I filled it up all the way which I was unprepared to do. I had heard of Kamps before and, out of curiosity, I gave them a call to get an idea of how their prices compared. To my amazement their prices were way more reasonable and the ladies that I spoke with on the phone were every professional and pleasure to work with. In my opinion this is a great company and I will continue to do business with them in the future. read more

I've used other propane providers, and Kamps is the best. I'm in Alpine and it gets cold up here, so having enough propane in the winter is crucial. I've read other reviews that say that Kamps let their tank go empty, and they were out of propane. Fact is that tanks go empty mostly because people don't check them. Kamps can provide auto-readers that allow them to monitor tank levels at their office, but the back country has pretty bad radio/phone reception, and those auto-readers don't work everywhere. If that's the case, people have to be responsible for checking their own tank. I'm guessing that many didn't a month ago when it was cold, and they subsequently went empty for a day or two. That's their fault, not Kamps. People complain about large propane bills. Kamps has a competitive rate, and the fact is that propane prices are high. Kamps charges a reasonable price for the level of service they give. Do I wish that propane was $2/gallon. Sure, and so does Kamps, but they don't control the propane market. All the providers are within a few cents of each other. Which brings us to service. Kamps is terrific. For those who don't have auto-readers, Kamps delivery staff tries to get by as often as possible to physically read your tank level. I just had to do some trenching, and I knew it would interfere with an existing gas line. Dave from Kamps came out 2 days after I called, and helped me mark the exact location of my gas line, using some pretty sophisticated equipment. I couldn't be happier with Kamps. read more

We have been really happy with Kamps and the customer service. The drivers are always polite and call ahead before delivering propane.

So we used Kamps years ago and the customer service is just rude and a hot mess, the technicians have always been friendly. It's been years, so I figure I can give them another shot, right? Well, the first call I made the customer service girl was obnoxious and immediately spoke over me. None of these people should be working customer service. SO UNHELPFUL, go with another company instead to save yourself the hassle and money! read more

I had a recent interaction w/the ladies/CSR from Kamp's Propane; it was a pleasurable experience. Ginny was extremely polite/friendly and knowledgeable. I had a concern/question w/my recent refill of 139+ gallons and the balance due was not what I had expected to pay. Ginny was extremely helpful and made the appropriate adjustments and leaving me a satisfied customer. I also received a call back as they followed up to see if I had any further question or concerns which I did not. Keep up the awesome customer service and I definitely appreciate you guys; thanks also to Melissa & Sonia... read more

Terrible service. Ordered propane over a week ago, expressed that I have children in the home, still no service. Now it's the weekend and they are closed this is horrible. Looking to have home converted to gas. Would not recommend read more

We recently moved to our new home and for the 1st time ever have propane and septic system. Kamps technician Richard (whom we would give 5 stars) provided great service and advice on how to handle the change of provider and help with preparing our property. He advised that the tank needed to be moved away from structure and wires for safety reasons and helped with digging the new trenchline at reasonable price. Another Kamps technician came out to install smart meter. The whole installation took longer than we would have liked, but generally we were very pleased with Kamps helpful service. Reasonable prices. Meanwhile we are still waiting for the Amerigas propane company that had original tank here (serviced old owners) to come get tank after several calls. UGH! read more

Very expensive prices, difficult in requesting in changes, when they installed my tank they took apart my furnace to inspect and they did not put it back properly and it did not function afterwards. I had to take it apart and correct the problem. Last delivery the truck damaged a line of sprinklers and I had to replace 4 heads and a section of pipe. read more

We were not very convinced shifting to Kamps was a good move due to the not so great sales pitch that talked to more than they actually provided. That transitioned into working with an office staff that ranks adequate. We were not too impressed and would have rated this team at two stars. In spite of those weaknesses the excellent service provided by the delivery driver, Ivan, brought them up to four stars. We require advance notice at our home before delivery and Ivan called the day before and set us up with a convenient time to come fill us up. Very courteous and professional. Maybe the office staff will improve in time bringing the overall experience working with Kamps up a bit. read more

Epic fail: we had snow last night... it was in the 20's. Woke up this morning to no heat or stove; checked the tank and it's at zero. ZERO. Not low or 10%. I'm supposed to be on a regular route but their records show last fill up was TEN MONTHS AGO!! Their customer service people were less than sympathetic, couldn't tell me what time someone was coming, didn't see the need to have their tech relight my stove or water heater - I had to ask f... I'm less than impressed. When we call to order propane they do tend delivery fairly soon, however... when we call (the Lakeside number) it's hair raising. The lady answering the phone is very short and border line rude. We called to order the propane and then (unfortunately) had to call back and ask a question... As soon I told I called earlier to order, she quickly stated that "the driver has the order" and was about to hang up before I could ask my question.. Clearly this person is not a people person or gets irritated easily... Either way makes me cringe when I need to call them!! read more
