I have been going to this restaurant since it opened. The food is always fresh. The service is tops. I would be there every day if I lived closer. Jan read more

So yes there are always better sushi places. You can go to LA or NYC or maybe even Boston ( japan would be a good bet). But this spot is one of my favorites. The staff is friendly and loyal to it's regulars. The fish is tasty and the spicy tuna is great! It's a Beverly mainstay. read more

I love this place! My fiance and I have been there many times and have had great food each and every time. I love the sushi and can never have enough of the green tea , which the waitress kept refilling without having to be asked. My only hesitation in giving this restaurant a 5 is the ambiance. Great food at a reasonable price for sushi. Keep it up! read more

I ordered take out from this restaurant last night. I live in the area and was craving sushi so I figured I'd try the local place. I'm not a big sushi connoisseur or anything but I have to agree with most reviews that the sushi here is nothing really spectacular. It was just kind of bland and not very fresh tasting. (Ordered the Christmas, Futo Maki, and Una Kyu rolls.) That being said, the employees are super nice and the place is clean. You could definitely find worse sushi in the area so if you're just looking for a local place to go then you'd be ok here. read more

One of the best sushi places on the north shore! My husband and I love sushi. Kame was recommended by some of our friends who are also sushi lovers. We have tried about 6-8 different rolls, and have loved them all. We love the spicy tuna roll, the crunchy roll, and the red dragon roll. We crave sushi quite often and Kame is always our go to place. read more

Well, loved this place in the past, 10-15 years ago. Tonight was a disaster. Sushi was mediocre at best. Teriyaki was some soupy dish heated up in a microwave, horrible. Service was very friendly though. $100 was a bit heft for a party of three. Will not go there again. read more

I haven't found a better sushi place yet! Everything is alway fresh, delicious, and reasonably priced. This place is the only place to go for sushi on the north shore! read more

The food overall was mediocre to not good. There were a couple food items that shone through the mediocrity. The tomago was excellent. The gyozo had a nice consistency but was flavorless. The tempura was greasy and tasted like carnival food. For a place like this, you have to find the good items in the menu, and if you guess wrong you will he disappointed. The service was excellent however, with very quick serving times. read more

Love this place!! We were referred to Kame by friends (who happen to be regulars) and they definitely were right on the money! The spicy scallop maki, Naruto, and the Irish maki were to die for, but you really can't go wrong here!! We will definitely be regulars along with our friends! read more

Amazing! I go to Endicott and I am ALWAYS at Kame. The sushi is amazing!!! Sit at the sushi bar. The older guy, Maury (spelling?) makes sushi quickly and beautifully. He's definiitely the best. The servers are also extrememly friendly. I never feel awkward being in there with people that don't speak English as their first language. They're all so nice! I love Kame, I hope they stick around forever (I was sad to see Asahi in Salem close) I may even move to the area after graduation JUST to get my sushi fix :P Every place in Keene, NH is no good compared to Kame!!! read more

Kame is a downtown Beverly standby. My wife and I have been going to Kame for over twenty years, which pretty much tells you that Kame serves reliably good food. I seem to find myself ordering the nabeyaki udon whenever it's really cold out. Kame's version is a rather salty broth in a hot put, heavily laden with thick, chewy noodles, napa, bamboo shoot slices, a few chunks of chicken, a whole shiitake cap, and one clam-in-its-shell, and topped with two big tempura shrimp -- a filling and warming dish. As another reviewer has mentioned, the agedashi dofu is good -- delicate and tasty. The sushi is pretty much all good though not innovative. read more

I thought I would never be able to replace my favorite sushi place. The only reason I needed a new sushi place was because I moved and needed my fix closer to my new hood. But I found it! Yes I found my sushi place. Woot Woot Woot read more

I hate reviews by people who clearly don't know anything about sushi. If you go here to eat fried food and chicken teriyaki this is not the restaurant for you. This restaurant is the best sushi I have found on the northshore. The chefs are happy to recommend the freshest and tastiest fish they have to offer. The sushi is simply out of this world. Fresh, flavorful, creative and actually decently priced. I have brought asian friends here who are very picky about sushi and know quality and they were impressed by my find. It is easy to find and parking is readily available. Check it out. Worth your time. read more

I ordered from Kame on a Friday night and will definitely not do so again. I paid $7 for the shrimp/vegetable tempura appetizer, which was delivered as 2 pieces of tiny shrimp and 2 veggies, which were all cold. That's almost $2 a piece! We also received cold miso soup and poorly wrapped sushi. For a $5 delivery fee (before tip) and $30 worth of tiny portioned sushi, I don't think I'll be going back. In fact, I'm still so hungry I think I'll go order a pizza. read more

while definitely placing among the ranks of restaurants like sake and asahi on the north shore, i found kame's rankings slightly below the atmosphere at sake in saugus, and slightly above the benchmark flavor ratings of asahi in salem. the fish is very fresh, and expertly presented. there are also more unfamiliar items like the chawan mushi, one of my favorite appetizers despite it's lengthy prep ration time. the decor could also use a little help, though if you are bringing a family here for a treat, i recommend the tatami "area" (which is strangely devoid of tatami)... as it seems families of children sitting on the floor delights the younger crowd. i can't blame them, eating without shoes and on the floor is pretty damn fun. after ordering a la carte, items including uni, ikura, white tuna, unagi, tako, and a scorpion role, as well as the previously mentioned chawan mushi, we were very satisfied at the freshness and flavor of the fish. it could be ranked slightly above that of asahi, but not by much. if you're trying to decide between the two restaurants, just a note: asahi might be slightly cheaper. read more

I have had a lot of sushi my short life, and although Kame is not the best, it is the best for it's price range. The food is fresh, and the chef's are talented. Some people have complained about the speed of service, however, at lunch they are quite quick. They have a great menu with lots to choose from the adventurous to pretty tame, and everything is well done and beautiful I might add. Again I have had slightly better sushi, but not for these prices. MY favorite is the spicy tuna and the uni (try it in the spring it's so sweet). read more

I have frequented Kame for a couple years now. Their sushi is always top notch. I've taken friends here who frequent sushi establishments in Manhattan and they rave about their food. Don't let the cozy family atmosphere fool you- these guys know what their doing. Do yourself a favor and give them a try (and order some Toro). read more

Food is always delicious and fresh. The staff is incredibly friendly and courteous. The Lauren roll is good for non sushi lovers. We've never had a bad meal here. I don't understand the negative reviews! We've been here many times never had a bad experience, only good ones. read more

This is my favorite for sushi on the northshore, great food and great sushi chefs. Entertaining yet make a yummy roll.. this place is always a favorite for take out or eat in reliable good quality sushi! read more

My wife and I had been to Kame before and we liked it enough for my wife to get take-out on my birthday. The food was lovely as before, but what really set them apart this time was the service. We had cold-night car trouble that stranded us at the restaurant and the husband and wife owners were AMAZING in their aid and kindness, taking good care of us for almost two hours. When we finally did get home, all I wanted to do was tell our young kids about how much good there was in the world. Thanks, Kame! read more

I've been going to Kame for many years and have always liked it. However, recently from about mid 2012 on, there's been a serious upgrade to their quality. Kame isn't inexpensive, particularly for an ex-Urban location, but the fish, particularly the Toro and Sake is really first class. read more

I've eaten here probably a dozen times in the last two years, hoping that it isn't as bad as I thought. You see, I love sushi and it's pretty much the only game in town. I always thought the service was good to excellent. But, the fish is just awful. On my last visit (and it will remain my last visit), the fish was so bad that I left more than half of it on the sevice dish (the waitress asked if I wanted to take it home). The sushi chef served two orders of hamachi that was almost wholly comprised of the red oily part of the flesh (most sushi chefs trim this off before serving). It was inedible. I moved on to the tako, took a bite and immediately gagged. It was spoiled. I spit it out into my napkin, dry-heaved a couple of times, asked for the check and left. read more

I love this place. I have for 5 years. Today I went and was all by myself, which is always a bit lonely and Mike, my sushi maker served me my order of sushi in the shape of a heart. He did so with a smile- so nice. I love the sushi. It's fresh and delicious and the staff is always friendly. read more

great, fresh food made with quality ingredients, expertly. good service, great selection, decent location. very nice.

Really good sushi and strong drinks for a reasonable price. Plus they were very accommodating to my friend who has a shellfish allergy. I'm pretty sure she was the only server on a busy night, and whereas most people would quickly glance over what we ordered and tell us we were fine she made sure to take the time and talk about different options. read more

We tried this place once and never went back. Poor service, prices high and the food was not much better. Left us wondering why we ever decided to stop in and yearning for a good meal - Blue Fin in Middleton is a much better choice for Japanese/ Sushi. read more

The 4-star rating made me hopeful we had found good local sushi. We stopped by today for an early lunch and left feeling disappointed and ill. The service was fine but the fish was not at all fresh, and smelled it. The tuna/California roll they list as a Christmas roll reeked of old fish. I took the tuna on top off but this didn't much improve the roll as it was missing cucumber and the avocado was riddled with brown spots. My companion, who got their lunch special was served a plate of flavorless, dry fish as it seems they pre-cut the fish slices. It looked like it had just been sitting out in a fridge to dry out. The rolls were poorly put together and were just a mess. We also got a crab roll that was made so salty it was almost inedible. Really most of the food they served was inedible and ended up staying on the plate. The only highlights were that they forgot my companion's extra roll so we were spared another fishy atrocity and that there was ginger on the plate to try and get rid of the lingering flavor of their food. This is by far some of the worst sushi I have had in a long time and will likely spend the afternoon under my blanket willing the memory of this meal away. read more

The sushi fell apart before it reached my plate. Extensive use of mayo etc masks the taste of fish in the maki. The worse sushi i ever had. Seaweed salat was good and so was the green tea. May be an off day for the chef. read more

Gross. 23 dollars for a bowl of ramen and veggie tempura appetizer. The noodles were the soggiest pasta noodles I've ever had. They were probably out of a barilla box and we're probably cooked 10 minutes too long. The pork that came with it was basically saw dust. The tempura had four pieces in it. I should have just thrown the 23 dollars in the trash because that's what I did with the food. read more

I just ordered take out from Kame. My daughter enjoys the garlic noodles and the lauren maki. I added appetizers Kushi Katsu(cubed filet of pork deep fried in bread crumb batter)$6.50and yaki tori( bbq chicken tenderloin on a skewer)$5.50. What a disappointment!!!!!! What a RIP OFF!!!!!! In the container with the deep fried pork, there was only 2 PIECES, 2 pieces!!!!. And in the container with chicken, it was literally a small half breast of chicken cut into 4 tiny pieces separated by a scallion. The chicken could've fit on one skewer with room to spare. Only 2 skewers!!!. Jeeze, could you spare it? At least give 4 pieces of each item. Make it worth it. While it was tasty, the portions are disappointing and not worth the price. read more

The wait staff is fast and efficient when dining in. The restaurant is open and simple. I love that they offer a room that you can take your shoes off and sit right on the carpet to eat like they do in their culture. When ordering for pickup or delivery the times they quote for wait time is always right on the money. I normally get their sushi there and it is always fresh, tasty and they give a great visual display. I highly recommend this to any sushi lover. read more

Hands down the best restaurant in Beverly. Amazing food, always friendly waitstaff, and affordable for those on a budget. I recommend this place 10/10! read more

I heard great things about this place, so I went to dinner a couple of weeks ago on a Friday night. I knew the service was slow from previous reviews and boy, people were not kidding. I had to walk up to the back to get seated otherwise I would've been left standing there. It took forever to get our drinks. I like to try simple dishes at new restaurants in case something goes terribly wrong, so I went with pad thai (shrimp, chicken, veggies) and it was covered in peanut sauce. WAY too much sauce. As the food started to cool down, it became inedible. Very disappointing. Some Mother was just sitting there on her iphone while her 3 kids ran around the restaurant doing laps screaming. It was very annoying and the staff didn't care (neither did the Mother). It took forever to get the check and pay. I didn't even bring home my left overs. I understand it's a "sweet" dish, but it was smothered in sauce and kind of ruined it. I liked the ambiance of the restaurant... it has potential if it had better service and better tasting cuisine. I won't be going back. read more

i was fooled by the ratings other people gave for this the service was very bad we sat there for an hour just waiting for our appatisers and when they did come one was missing and the size of it was more like a taste test than an app the drinks were horrible how do you mess up captain and coke? or a olive martinni good martinnis at Soma 2 doors down though when the food came it was ok not great i myself will not go back read more

I will never eat at this establishment EVER again! I went in there looking for a sushi boat to split between two people, the waitress said we don't have those. We made it very clear that we were looking for rolls and sushi. We placed the order for what we thought was a Mexican Roll, a 20 sushi deluxe and a garlic noodle app. The garlic noodles were terrible and needed to be soaked in soy sauce to remotely taste ok. Remember how I said the waitress told us they didn't have boats of sushi? She brought out a boat to a table of two sitting right next to us. Anyways, eventually came our sushi, the Mexican roll was correct but we received 20 pieces of sashimi, slabs of raw fish with a bowl of white rice. Our waitress and the manager said they couldn't do anything for us but the manager eventually said they would turn them into sushi. Another waitress brought us back 10 pieces of sushi and 6 rolls, we sat there with no water and our waitress didn't even bring us our bill. We were charged for the 20 piece sashimi and not the entree we actually ate, which was on the menu for $10 cheaper. Worst sushi experience I've ever had. read more
