    Halo halo
    Valerie G.

We randomly stopped in the shopping area from getting off of the highway because I needed to get something in the trunk of my car. My mom is Filipino and of course she spots this restaurant, so we had to go in and get some food. It's a very small place with very few tables and limited seating. We got our food to go. We did have to wait a while cause there was a line in front of us. After we ordered, we waited a bit for the food to come out, but it was worth it. There's actually a buffet style of food for you to pick from in order, but we actually wanted more lumpia so we were waiting for that to be done. We ordered halo halo and thank God we only got one lol because that thing was huge. But it was so good, literally the best I've ever had. The food was amazing and you get huge portions. The employees are so nice. We will definitely return when we're back in the area.

Halo Halo is HUGE!! Biggest I've ever seen. Recommend if you know what you want to call ahead to order otherwise there'll be a wait. The other food looked old and dry. I got the pancit and it was just ok, kinda salty. I won't come back for food, maybe just halo halo. It's a typical Filipino fast food restaurant. There are tables to sit down but if you're expecting a waiter you won't get that here. There are some dry goods for sale and desserts in the fridge but this isn't a fancy place.

The food is typically great, but lately it has been overly salted and if you don't get there when the food is fresh then be prepared to eat super dried up food. When this spot first opened it was amazing , i keep trying to go back in hopes of it turning back around. The hours are always off, and the listed hours on google and yelp are not accordingly noted. I've gone here on several occasions in hopes that they would be opened when craving filipino food. It is a 5 minute from my house so you may be able to understand the frequent stops. Anywho, two days ago i was craving some chicken bbq and halo halo so i stopped by and of course no bbq:( i was too lazy to drive to the filipino market in central Springfield where i typically get my halo halo if I'm craving. I decided to try the halo halo from kamayan, but holy moly did was it wayyyyy too big. The portion they give you is made for a family or two people if you. Considering the price which is not the correct price on the posted menu was a whopping $15.99. The menu says $12.99...-.- disappointed. The halo halo was generous and compared to most places pretty good, but they need to offer a smaller size. I definitely wasted more than half and would have saved a lot of money elsewhere... what i did appreciate was that it wasn't premade so i was able to remove the beans which I absolutely hate in desserts. So thank you. All in all kababayan in woodbride is my favorite, it's just way out of my way. I used to go there everyday when i had cosmetology school 4 minutes down the road! Best prices and the food is stupendous! Don't know if ill be back anytime soon for the food, but if i want to share a halo halo i know where to go!

This is your classic small Filipino restaurant. Each dish hit the spot: adobo, longanisa, pork tocino, and pancit. I especially liked the garlic rice, which made the rice pop with flavor. Check out the catering menu, which includes full Lechon, as well as pork and chicken bbq skewers.

Backbone from every squid I had.

I usually come here and eat the lechon and the breakfast plate. Today I decided to try something else because they didn't have any lechon available. I ordered a 2 item combo meal. I ordered the sinigang and adobo pusit (squid). The lady who helped me was very kind and helpful. She handed me my food and I went to sit down and eat. I was so hungry because I just came from a blood drawn that I took a huge bit out of the a squid. I ended up pulling out the backbone of the squid. Needless to say the squid was not cleaned properly at all. Don't serve a entree if you don't know how to clean and prepare it correctly. It's such a turn off. I won't be returning to this restaurant again.

My mom and I tried Kamayan Fiesta for the first time this past weekend. Previously we tried the leche flan and it was delicious so we went back to get some more to take home, but they didn't have it this weekend so that was a little disappointing. So we ended up trying the combo platters. My mom tried the Laing and BBQ sticks with white rice. I tried the lechon, pancit and white rice. The portions were a good amount and the price of the food was affordable. We just wished they had the leche flan but other than that if you want home cooked Filipino food this is one to try.

I had a serious craving for Filipino food as soon as we landed from our flight from Argentina. We went straight here from the airport (actually first choice was Manila Oriental but they were closed) and had very high expectations. We got 2 chef's duo (rice and 2 choices of entree). I had garlic rice, sisig and tocino and fiance got garlic rice, chicken inasal and menudo. In general, the food was lackluster. It was very bland for Filipino food. The garlic rice was hard. Some of the tocino's meat was dry (it obviously looked old). The chicken didnt taste like anything. The sisig didnt taste like sisig (maybe im just used to Kapampangan sisig). It was disappointing. We both feel like we ate just to fill our tummies. The craving wasn't satisfied. The ambience is nice tho. Very minimal and chic. The staff are friendly. They also have a "mini market" inside.

    Lumpia
    Jade H.

The food was pretty tasty and the pork in the adobo was surprisingly moist (sometimes meats cooked in vinegar dry out) so I was pleasantly surprised. The longanisa was your typical longanisa aka delicious but they left out my fried egg :( Prices are good and they already seem to have some fans. It's a small place so if there are about 3 people in front of you, expect to be waiting outside! Oh and btw, none of the food items were labeled so either do your research on Filipino food or simply ask them. They are nice people! Personally, I recommend lumpia and adobo for those who are unsure of what to start with.

I torn... I've been there twice. The first time (a year ago), I had the food to go and it was good. Last week, I ordered a variety of food, including fish. The fish was not cleaned. There were so many fish scales, I felt like I was chewing on a mouthful of glitter.

I don't have to drive all the way to Maryland anymore! Sorry Lummings, I still like you, but I live closer to Kamayan and they make the lechon just the way I like it! I'm from Hawaii and this is just like authentic Filipino food! Go check them out if you haven't already!

It's located in a strip shopping center, so parking is super easy and accessible, and the restaurant itself is very easy to find. Walking in, the space is extremely clean, well-lit, and nicely decorated. Now let's talk about the real highlight: the variety. They have dinner plates, bowl options, and à la carte items. I went with one of my favorites, the lechon. They were out of the roasted version, but the staff recommended the fried pork instead, and it did not disappoint. I came in around 7:30, and they close at 8, so I was trying to be mindful and not hold them up. But the woman at the counter was incredibly kind and told me not to rush at all--"you're already inside, take your time." That level of hospitality really stood out. She even took the time to walk me through the menu, which I appreciated, even though I'm already familiar with Filipino food. The food itself? Amazing. The lechon was perfectly crispy, flavorful, and cooked just right. The portion size was generous, and it came with two Lumpia that were hot, fresh, and delicious. It also included a soda, which made it feel like a complete, satisfying meal. Overall, this place is a 10/10. Great food, great portions, and even better customer service. I'd highly recommend stopping by.

The women working here were kind and helpful. You order at the counter in the back, and they will bring your food to your table. Menu options abound, but the only menu was the display screen above and in back of the counter. Unfortunately, the display screen is hard to see and there are no descriptions with the pictures/items. Mang Eton really needs to provide some printed menus. While the online menu does contain descriptions, the online descriptions don't necessarily match what is available. Anyways.... For a starter, we ordered the siomai. These were plump and tasty. We wish they would give more of the excellent dipping sauce than the tiny thimble of sauce that they do give you. Note: the combo meals also include a couple pieces of siomai. I ordered the Combo #1, which came with a piece of fried chicken, 2 lumpia, shrimp chips, rice and pancit. The lumpia had an excellent flavor. The fried chicken and pancit were okay. JP ordered the Combo #3. The only difference between the Combo #1 and Combo #3 is that the Combo $3 comes with fish instead of chicken. It also comes with a skewer of meat (pork?), which was good. We were the only non-Filipino customers. I plan on coming back to try the halo-halo dessert and to order some more yummy siomai.

Filipino food is one of those comfort foods so of course what do I look for my first time visiting Baltimore? I happened to be in this neighborhood so decided to give this place a try. Luckily they weren't busy when we arrived so everything came out quickly. The Shanghai lumpia is on the smaller side, which is excellent for a taste teaser but if you're used to the bigger style you may be disappointed. The flavor was good, and the vinegar and sili added a nice hot and sour kick. The pork BBQ stick was marinated well and was my favorite. My wife actually liked it with the pinakbet more than the kawali, which I didn't mind cause it left more for me lol. The pinakbet was a hit for both of us as we haven't found many veggie dishes at the other Filipino restaurants that were fresh and crunchy. Most other places tend to go with the soupier veggie dishes (sinigang mostly, which is also good but I was feeling crunchy) so it was refreshing to have this. Ampalaya for the win! The only disappointment was the pork Adobo. Don't get me wrong, it was really good. It's just not the type we're used to which is Ilokano style (a little drier and crunchy with a lot more vinegar sour taste) so not a ding, more of a different taste preference. The only negative (not to us, but definitely to folks not used to it) is the lack of decor and the kind of... dinginess to the restaurant. Some of the best places in Hawaii have similar but scare those new to Filipino food. I could see having a hard time bringing newbies to this restaurant and convincing them that the food is good if they walk in and see the interior. All in all, my wife and I loved the place. We'll definitely be back if we're in the area again. So far, it's the best Filipino food we've had since moving to the DMV!

It was difficult for me to give a fair rating for the food. Even though the last time I had Filipino food was 5 years ago, I have been spoiled in the past with the finest Filipino food in the world cooked by some of the finest & most humble chefs I ever met. The food at Kababayan was so so or good for my first experience in tasting their food despite being rated as the best Filipino food in the area in some reviews. Everything was well seasoned, and I was only disappointed in one entree. I was hoping to try the traditional roasted succulent lechon or Laing. Laing, is a Filipino dish of shredded or whole taro leaves with meat or seafood cooked in thick coconut milk spiced with labuyo chili, lemongrass, garlic, shallots, ginger, and shrimp paste. They both were unavailable. The food is displayed like a buffet style arrangement. You select the entrees and side when you order a combination of entrees & side dish. It would have helped to have a sign describing each entree with its name. The lady helping me in selecting entrees was very kind and went into detail of each entree. I ordered two entrees with rice and two entrees with pancit noodles. The price for two entrees with rice or noodles was $15. A fair and good price for the amount of food provided. The traditional pancit noodles & dinuguan tasted the best and were the most generous portions served to me, and were the closest to my past food experiences with these traditional Filipino foods. I would have loved some calamansi, the citrus Philippine lemon, to season my pancit. That is how I prefer my pancit. They instead provided me lemon wedges to season my pancit as an option for the calamansi though. The pancit was good and like the pancit I would eat at Filipino parties & gatherings. The dinuguan was delicious & is always an acquired taste. I like to eat it once in a blue moon. It was the first food I ate completely. The pork adobo and sweet & sour pork entrees tasted good yet I was unfamiliar with them. They didn't taste like the traditional roasted lechon pig I was accustomed to in the past. I stashed them away in glass containers in the fridge to eat later along with the pancit & chicken adobo. The most disappointing was the chicken adobo. The taste of chicken adobo was good but it was annoying to pick out the broken & chopped bone pieces out of the chicken adobo to prevent accidentally swallowing them. This restaurant is worth checking out. The entrees are always changing there. I will probably come back here again to try different foods I haven't tried.
