I can't speak for their food, but the smoothies are so good! I was walking around Reading Terminal Market looking for a smoothie/juice spot, and saw so many people lined up here getting a drink, so I had to join the line myself. They have different fruit combos you can choose from, or you can pick your own combination. There are also juice shots and pressed juice. The wait wasn't too long on a busy Sunday, and the line moved efficiently. Highly recommend for a refreshing and healthy drink option!

Every time we head home to Philly and hit Reading Terminal Market we do our best to try out different food stalls in the never-ending sea of options. This time around I wanted to go on the healthier side and get a smoothie from Kamal's and it did not disappoint! There were plenty of smoothie options, all of which are probably delightful, and the one I got was refreshing and tasty without being too sweet. If you're looking for a relatively healthy drink / snack while at Reading Terminal, Kamal's has some great smoothies

Kamal's Middle Eastern Specialties is a tucked-away gem inside Reading Terminal, offering fresh juices, smoothies, and Middle Eastern fare. I grabbed a halva smoothie, a mint lemonade, and a small snack, and the experience was quick, friendly, and satisfying. The halva smoothie was Incredible -- rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced with a nutty, sesame-forward flavor that wasn't overly sweet. It honestly tasted like halva in drink form, in the best way. The mint lemonade, on the other hand, wasn't for me -- it was super tart and had a strong, grassy taste that made it hard to finish. For my snack, I tried something savory with walnut and meat (wish I remembered the name), and it was flavorful and satisfying in a small bite. Shoutout to the cashier for not trying to upsell me when I asked for just a little something -- appreciated the low-key, no-pressure vibe. Can't wait to come back and try a full meal next time. The smoothie alone is worth a return trip.

Mango Peach Smoothie Really refreshing and you can taste the fruit! But pretty pricey

I got a lamb shawarma platter. The lamb was nicely seasoned. Hummus was good, pita..meh. Rice and salad were nothing to write home about. If I had consulted Yelp first, I might have tried a fresh fruit smoothie instead.

Anthony Bourdain is famous for his quote about dining while traveling, which says something along the lines of find the thing that the place you're visiting does better than anywhere else in the world and eat that. I think there is an equal opposite rule, while less famous is just as true that says when you're traveling by all means avoid the thing that the place that you're from is most famous for because you'll only be disappointed. I'm from mature Detroit and unfortunate to have access to some of the best Middle Eastern food in the world. Philadelphia is not Detroit in this regard. I made my way over to Redding terminal market this evening to pick up dinner about a half hour before closing time to find most of the food shops that I wanted to order food from had already closed up for the night. That left me with Kamal's Middle Eastern is one of the few options that were available to me. I ordered the Lamb Euro plate that came with Shawarma salad, rice, a pita and hummus. The entire dish was largely unremarkable. The lamb itself was nothing special kind of just a food service quality euro Cone that was thrown on the grill and cooked up over the course of the day. Nothing like the freshly made Shawarma that I can get at home. The hummus was not all that great. I thought it was a both lumpy and a little runny at the same time and little heavy on the garlic. The Peter was a complete afterthought. It was presented in a plastic bag. I feel a good head, been sitting there for hours. It was crumbly and dry and certainly not like the fresh delicious handmade homemade pita that I can get it home. The rice was filled with vegetables That you get at an elementary school cafeteria lunch. One or two bites of that rice was more than I needed. The portion sizes were fine, but the food just wasn't all that The highlight and the one thing I would go back for the smoothies I've been craving a smoothie for a while saw that they had fresh juices and smoothies at Kamal so I decided to get a coconut and pineapple smoothie and I thought that was very tasty and refreshing. Beyond that there's much better dining options and terminal market. I just need to make sure I get there a little bit sooner than I did tonight .

Give until it hurts--Mother Theresa Omar was kind. He is son of the owners. This is a family run restaurant that opened in 1981. His family is from Syria and his siblings were working there when I was there. Family recipes. I went with the veg platter that is vegan with six falafels, and one grape leaf. It was quite alright. Be sure to show them love with some cash tips.

We found Dubai chocolate here Kamals is located inside the Reading Terminal market, so the atmosphere can be a bit loud and crowded. as soon as you walk in from one of the Home2 hotel facing side entrance, it is right there. Staff were super friendly, and took the effort to find out when they will have more dubai chocolate come in since they were sold out for that day. As for the sweets they have here are authentic middle eastern yummies. Real honey, delicious flavor. Definitely recommend.

Halvah milkshake was quite nice and a bit different. They have a lot of fun smoothie/shake flavor combos. The meat pie was not at all like lachmajun- more like a meat taco. Kibbi was good.

Kamala is found inside the Reading Terminal Market. Despite the hectic environment the staff were really helpful, quick, and friendly. Wished the juice was colder but it was the right amount of sweetness and actually really easy to drink.

Good spot to check out in reading market. Great portions and taste for the food! Pro tip is to ask for the garlic sauce on the side!

This was my first time at Reading Terminal and I didn't have a place I wanted to eat at specifically. I chose Kamals because getting a wrap would be the easiest thing to eat if we couldn't find seating. The service was quick and the wait was brief. I ordered the chicken shawarma pita wrap with garlic sauce. It was good, with a solid amount of meat (a bit salty) and a good balance of veggies. Overall, I would come back for the food and try the drinks that other reviews have highlighted!

This is a multicourse journey through Marrakesh that cannot be repeated anywhere else except for maybe in the real Marrakesh. From the Bastilla pastry, which is DIVINE, to the salads, the chicken and kebabs... all the way to the baklava and tea.... there is no bad bite at Marrakesh. The owners are welcoming and super amenable and make you feel like you're coming home every single time you visit. It's in a odd location, and you may feel like you are making a questionable life decision as you walk up the alley to the door, but when you arrive, you realize that in fact, it was one of the best decisions you've made in years!! When you enter, it's like you've been transported to a beautiful room in Morocco. The music, the decor, even the authentic seating make for an unforgettable experience. And if you get really lucky, you also get to see the belly dancers who are top notch! There is not a single thing I can think of to say that Marrakesh needs to improve. It is a one of a kind experience that I feel everyone should have at least once in life!

FANTASTIC experience -- just go!…read more The Lamb Fahsah was hearty and flavorful, served in a hot metal bowl with just the right proportions of shredded meat, veggies, and broth. Plus it came with FRESH pita bread HOT out of the oven -- slightly crisp outside, hot gooey inside. (Honestly, I think their pita texture and flavor surpassed a certain high-end Lebanese restaurant in Fishtown...) Decor is a tasteful modern pastiche of traditional middle eastern motifs. Overall vibe is relaxed, clean, and spacious. The only downside was having to pick just one thing from the menu, though staff were happy to help. One note: I think they're still getting off the ground, and I stood next to the "wait to be seated" sign for 5 minutes before getting frustrated and walking up to the bar guy. He was SUPER apologetic, as was my waiter, and they made it up to me with a free cup of chai tea -- plus a free refill at the end! On the chai tea: rich and fragrant spices, definitely spoiled me for the standard coffee shop version.

During my wife's and my time there, they never had an empty table that wasn't being quickly cleared for a waiting party, and we heard people assigned considerable waits when they tried to walk in. I give the benefit of the doubt that the hectic, holiday-adjacent nature of the day we went in contributed to us not receiving mugs for the tea pot we ordered or some of the longer waits between waitstaff visits. But the food and atmosphere? Through the roof. We were fortunate enough to have scored the coveted front window seating section, a luxuriously spacious and cushioned special seating option that only one party at a time can enjoy (all other seats are traditional chair-and-table arrangements), so we were especially high on the subject of atmosphere, but even had we not secured the ideal seating, I would have enjoyed the chill, evocative music coming from the restaurant's speakers. The food was the main event, of course, and it delivered. We started simple, with a hummus app. The humus was great and the flatbread really stood out - ideal density, great, light crispness to the outside, soft but at no risk of being too chewy or doughy on the inside. I ordered the salmon dish, which arrived in a big, black sizzling iron bowl. The salmon and tender little potato chunks were in a shakshuka-like red sauce and paired excellently with the plate of rice, fresh raisins, garlic slivers, and carrot bits that accompanied it. I honestly don't love raisins, but this was clearly a "have faith in the recipe" situation and I really enjoyed when they would assert themselves a bit against the sauce. My wife ordered a falafel salad platter, which she was kind enough to let me try; best falafel I've eaten in a good number of years, and she agreed (which means even more than my endorsement, since she falafel much more frequently than I do). I've eagerly recommended Malooga to friends and associates since and can't wait to get back and order some lamb!

What a FANTASTIC MEAL…read more Came by with a group of ~8 with a Friday 7pm reservation. We were seated at the round chef's table right outside the kitchen. We were planning to go the tapas/family style route, but the waiter seemed a bit pressed to persuade us to choose the tasting (we were being a bit indecisive). It was initially off-putting, but decided to go in on the chef's tasting ($64), and wow were so glad we did. There was SO MUCH FOOD - it seriously kept coming. For our group size, we got 2-3 servings of "small plates", 1-2 servings of "medium plates", and options of 2 mains from steak, lamb, and eggplant (opted for the former two). Portion sizes may vary depending on the size of your party. Starters - hummus, crudités for dipping - baba gannoush - bita - crispy spiced pita - broccoli tabbouleh - chickpea fritters (delish) Seconds - grilled cheese w tomatoes - ground lamb (beef) kebabs - poeri peri shrimp - couscous - rice Mains - lamb - steak - whole fish Dessert - brownie w ice cream - orange honey cake - dates The steak was delicious, and the lamb was oh so tender. To start, we got the trio of spreads, olives, French fries and baked cheese. The spreads were ok but the portion size was tiny and none of them were particularly memorable. The flatbread they were served with was excessively oily. The French fries were good but once you finish the top layer they became soggy and unseasoned. The olives were warm which is a fun twist but the texture was mushy and unpleasant. The baked cheese was delicious, however, it was comically small compared to the dish it was served in. For my main, I ordered the king salmon. It was a great portion size. However, it was overcooked, dry, and overpowered by a very bitter garlic flavor. My friend's steak (which she asked for medium) was also overcooked and tough, without a steak knife she was really struggling to eat this. My other friends ordered the swordfish, cauliflower, and halloumi salad - all were ok. The desserts really saved the day. The tahini brownie was incredible! The lemon cardamom bun was also tasty but a little dry. The ambience here is very nice and the bar is beautiful but the bathrooms are filthy. The service was fast but unfriendly. Overall, we were underwhelmed especially considering the prices.
