Stopped by this place randomly while walking around Old City during a trip to Philly. Their drinks caught my attention so I walked in and ordered an iced Horchata Matcha. It was amazing, such unique and delicious flavor. It is pricey, it came out to $8.10 but definitely worth a try.The staff welcomes you as soon as you walk in. They also sell staple Mexican dishes so there are tables to sit down but only if you order food. If you only go in for a drink I recommend taking it to go bc the space is limited and not really much place to stand other than by the door.

They make their chips fresh on site. I appreciate that. I enjoyed my chilaquiles and horchata. Fresh chips, tasty salsa. I'll be back to try more of the menu.

A hidden gem in old city! They serve lunch/dinner as well but I went for brunch and loved it! The horchata matcha is a lovely surprise for a caffeine kick. Never considered that combination but it worked! Burrito and chilaquiles were good too; definitely a good amount of food too. It's an order at the counter type of restaurant but absolutely worth a visit when you're in the area! Can't wait to go back

Very nice coffee shop. Tried the horchata latte and it was delicious. Also got the chilaquiles verdes with chicken. They were okay they really lack flavor but I would definitely come back to try something else on the menu.

When you're the first to add a business to Yelp but slack on writing a review, you end up being the second person to review Your Little Corner. But you still give it a good recommendation when its due. I first came across Tu Rinconcito during this month's First Friday when the good communal crowd that they brought in and delicious looking coffee beverages had me instantly mental bookmark it to try, and I was very impressed when I did. This little corner doubles as both a coffeehouse and a neighborhood taqueria in an Old City neighborhood that could really use one. While Lucha Cartel dishes out good TexMex in a bar setting, and Las Bugambilias is a great sit down Mexican restaurant; that's all Old City really had for Mexican food, and a corner spot that echoes that South Philly taqueria vibe that doubles a coffeehouse is a very good thing! Honestly, the only reason I give four stars is because breakfast ending at 11:30 am on the weekend was a bit of a downer for not just me going off the # of people who came in and left after me when they weren't able to snag a breakfast burrito, and upping breakfast time on Saturdays and Sundays would absolutely bring in an Old City brunch crowd. But I was able to pivot and enjoy some delicious tacos al pastor. While the pork might have been a bit on the drier side, it was nothing that lemons and homemade hot sauces couldn't fix, and the spices and flavor were there! The iced americano was the perfect wake up call, and it was a spot on first visit that will likely lead to many more.

So happy to have discovered this little gem!! We had a deliciously fresh Torta, coffee, and an amazing horchata that was not only homemade but wasn't drowning in sugar! The service was really very good. Felt like home. The ambience is comfortable like a neighborhood cafe should be. Next time I visit Philadelphia I will absolutely stop at this sweet cafe and you should too. Brava!!

Everytime i come here I get great service and great food! I highly recommend the horchata latte!

Breakfast burrito with chorizo and chipotle mayo

From the service to the food everything was amazing. The chilaquiles were very flavorful and the green salsa had such a great savory taste. The breakfast burrito I got with chorizo in it and wow it was so good! The chipotle mayo pairs perfectly with this! We also previously tried the horchata matcha which was really good and today we got the strawberry and strawberry and cream matcha which were just as good! If you're ever in Philly or in the Old City I would recommend this a million times!

They made me a latte drink instead of a matcha drink. I don't drink coffee. They refused to remake my drink. Terrible customer service.

This is the best Mexican food in Philly, 10/10. Authentic and everything is house made!

The meat in the tacos was so dry that it was hard to chew and swallow. Some of the pieces were cooked to a crisp. No amount of salsa could make them better. I'm sorry I didn't take photos of the tacos, but trust me me I get no pleasure from leaving a bad review for this place; I am not lying or exaggerating. I thought they were going to be one of our local gems. I choked down a half a taco, gave the rest to my husband and he couldn't eat them either. The churros actually had raw batter in the middle and the outside was rubbery and hard at the same time. You could barely bite through it. I'm a cook and I know that that is about keeping the oil at an even temperature to get the inside done and not overcook the outside. Someone in the kitchen did not know what they were doing. The thing is, I have had their food before and it was pretty good. I don't know if there is a new chef or what happened, but I can't trust them after this experience.

Good: old fashioned, tri-mix of guac (liked the truffle one), steak tacos. Not so good:coco tartare app, I thought most of the other tacos were tried were very okay for the price and would not recommend (shrimp, pastor (one of my least favorite versions of pastor), one with habaenro (not spicy at all). Would have enjoyed some actual spicy salsa to go with it. Overall, I sadly can't really recommend it.

Honestly El Rey is great!…read more As a Los Angeles native, Mexican food is always a "not as good as California" affair, and with that bar, it's hard to find anything that holds a candle. But El Rey is good in its own right, taking familiar foods and flavors, with a bit of a fancier twist, and making a good meal that I love to eat and enjoy! Seating and service here is friendly and prompt. Even when it's pretty loud and seems packed, there are always a handful of open tables available, where we've usually been able to be seated almost immediately. Such was the case this evening. We were on a bit of a time crunch so we ordered immediately and our food came out so fast that the waiter for our table was surprised as the food beat him with our napkins to the table. We ordered the Tuna Tostada and the Yucatan Spiced Chicken Fajitas. Both were amazing! Good thing for our tight timeline, the food was gone as fast as it came. The waiter helpfully recommend the house hot sauce, which was certainly spicy and a good compliment on our fajitas. Overall, a great place to dine for Mexican-inspired! Laying aside my California bias, El Rey is a fun time every time we come.

I hadn't been to El Rey in years, but we scored last-minute Valentine's reservations and WOW. The vibe was lively, warm, and perfect for a fun night out. - Let's talk about these STEAK TACOS . Perfectly seasoned, tender, flavorful -- the kind of bite that makes you close your eyes for a second. They were so good I came back two days later just for them. That's not a craving... that's infatuation. - The Chayote Salad completely surprised me. Fresh, bright, and paired with their homemade hot sauce? My palate was awakened. I even brought it home (with dressing and hot sauce on the side) and it still hit! Speaking of heat -- if you love spicy food, ASK for their homemade hot sauce. It's bold, fiery, and addictive. I genuinely want a bottle for home. Service? 10/10. From the manager to the hosts to the bartender -- everyone was kind, attentive, and patient. They even remembered me from Valentine's Day, which says everything about how they treat their guests. Bathroom Check: Clean? Yes. Cute ambiance? Yes. Great mirror for photos? Absolutely. And again -- CLEAN. El Rey, I'll be back soon

There were booths, tables and bar seating available with Wonder Years playing on a few TVs with warm lighting and the incandescent Christmas lights that are reminiscent of Grandma's house (bonus points for nostalgia!) I requested a booth and she promptly sat me. She brought me water, menus and explained the specials to me. As I perused the menu, I was overwhelmed with the options available to me. I ultimately landed on one of the dinner specials (Cabernet braised brisket with a side of carrots & buttery mashed potatoes), chips & salsa and a Paloma. Chips landed first and while both salsas were fresh, I still felt the need to add salt. (Everyone's palate is different) Food & drink arrived simultaneously. Paloma was made strong but tasted more like a classic margarita as opposed to the tang of grapefruit that comes with a Paloma. Still good! The food was essentially cold & looked like it had been sitting for awhile being served to me but all the flavors were there. The brisket fell apart, I didn't even need a knife to cut it. The carrots were tender and the mashed potatoes were buttery. I would 1000% go back for the drinks and service, however I may get something different on the menu.
