Ion my way to an event where I needed to bring food and stopped in here on a whim. When I got to the event and opened up the containers everyone around me commented on how good my food smelled. Trust me, it tasted even better! By far, some of the best shrimp tacos I have ever has. All of the ingredients were so fresh. I also got birria tacos, again, SO good! You MUST get the churros at Pancho's. Hot, crisp, not too sweet, cream-filled, with a delectable chocolate dipping sauce, they were the star of the meal. The fish burrito I got was solid, too, though personally I wish it were cheesier/saucier. The quality of the ingredients and the flavors were pretty good though. Came with fresh, thick tortilla chips and some green salsa and hot sauce. Service was decently friendly and fast. The place is kind of small with only like five tables, and not super decorated, but it gets the job done. Really solid Mexican spot, though with Fishtown prices. The churros are so worth it, though. We had a delicious dinner at Pancho's Cafe. It has been on our list to try since moving to fishtown and it did not disappoint. Service was great and everyone was welcoming when we entered. The restaurant has a cute atmosphere full of bright colors and plants. The food though has to be some of the best mexican in the area. It was my first time trying a la gringa. It was delicious and tasted so fresh. I also got a tinga burrito which was enormous but full of flavor. We also had the shrimp tacos which were some of the best I've ever had. We certainly needed to go boxes after everything was said and done. All in all a great meal and a restaurant we will certainly be visiting again soon! (Also doing take out :) read more

Love this place! Could've sworn I wrote a review before. Definitely eaten other things here but these were the only photos that I could find. Usually get the fajitas or some kind of tacos, both are delicious. Brunch here was unexpectedly good...the steak Pancho was my favorite. Meat potatoes and eggs - can't go wrong. Passed this hole in the wall restaurant so many times and finally tried it! Its location is close to the train station so it is a very convenient fast-casual/take out place. I tried the al pastor tacos especial and the chicken burrito. Out of the two, I liked the chicken burrito better. Large portions for a great price-- about $13 for each entrée. Homey restaurant in Fishtown with amazing Mexican food. At Pancho's, I got 3 Carne Asada Tacos along with an horchata. So surprised by the tacos, close to being the best in Philly. The tortillas had a lot of flavor, and the sauces/lime added a delicious tanginess/spiciness. The horchata was a bit strange too me, had a weird artificial sweetness to it that took away from the rice/cinnamon flavor. However, the serving size of the drinks was huge, put into a soup container. Definitely trying their other drinks. I'm pretty sure the cafe is family-run or very similar vibes. The chicken buritto was a good size for $10 but the chicken was very dry and not very flavorful. There wasn't enough rice. The cheese felt like a pack of Mexican blend cheese thrown into the buritto. I am a native Californian so maybe I'm spoiled with incredible Mexican food, all I can say is this didn't pass the test. I have came here a couple of times due to it being walking distance from my house on wfh days, and each time I eat here the same plate ranges in taste and isn't consistent. The flavor of the food is majorly lacking. I can understand the good reviews as there are seldom any good Mexican spots in Philly and this place is tolerable. I would return if prices were lower as I just paid $44 for two chicken fajita plates which is ABSURD. You can get the same plate in the hood in LA for $12 with 10x the flavor. They also have an 8% tax for credit cards so bring cash... I just found out. A positive is the customer service is nice as well as the vibe inside of the restaurant. Food needs to get better or prices need to come down for me to return. read more

We've been here a few times and it can be pretty good and also lacking at the same time. Once my rice was so over cooked I didn't want to eat it but my enchiladas were amazing with a wonderful sauce and perfectly cooked meat. Top notch Al Pastor Burrito! A bit pricy but for the size, we'll worth it. Hot Sauce on the outside looks lovely but begs you to go with the fork and spoon method. Personally, I prefer burritos wrapped in wax paper/ foil so it's way easier to get to every last bite. Def recommend giving it a shot. Pancho's Cafe is an amazing little restaurant, with a couple of tables and a small, 6-seat counter directly in front of the grill and the incredibly talented chef. I know everyone goes to spots like this for big, delicious burritos and simply, expertly made tacos, but if you've never had a torta, I suggest you start there. AL PASTOR TORTA For those that don't know, a torta is a Mexican sandwich, and I ordered mine with al pastor (pork marinated with chilies, spices, pineapple, and who knows what else), lettuce, tomato, beans, mayo, and salsa. The torta is typically served on a large, oblong telera roll, and my mouth watered as the bread sat on the griddle the entire time the al pastor was being cooked. The torta was HUGE, and for $10 I was more than happy to eat half and save half for later (well, like an hour later). My wife ordered 3 tacos - 1 chicken and 2 steak. The meats were perfectly cooked, and we could tell that they put a lot of time and care into them. As we were leaving, the chef busted out a bottle of 1800 Reposado. When I asked if we were about to do some tequila shots, she told me that it was for the pork. :( 100% agave, 100% delicious, 110% love in her food. read more
