Absolutely awesome! Food is the best in town, not even close. Portions are large, yet for a very reasonable price. Small tap list but make up for it with great beers, for a great price ($4). All day happy hour during the week. Good vibe and best of all, friendly service. 5 stars all around. Coming back again and again!!! read more

Pleasantly surprised, food awesome, loved the coconut shrimp , perfect portions, good prices. Great customer service! Clean and inviting dining area or you can take it to go! read more

I'm from Oahu and lived my childhood there till 1997. Visited Kama'aina last night with my gf's family. My gf and her cousin ordered the Kahuku garlic shrimp. Sorry to say but the shrimp was so small. If you going to say "Kahuku" garlic shrimp then this shrimp was not a size like I had back in the islands. Could've at least been jumbo shrimp even if you had 5 or 6 on the plate. But baby shrimps!!! Com'on!! I had the poki bowl. Are you serious!! For the price was paid that portion was too small. I know that this is a new Hawaiian comfort food but your bizz need to start with a bang!! For what I saw last nights dinner on our table was a big failure. The chix katsu was dark brown and too dry like it was over cooked. Doesn't even looked close to L&L's golden brown katsu. Honestly, IMO I feel like you just butchered our Hawaiian Island favorite grinds. Never coming back. read more

My husband and I dined at Kama'aina last night for the first time and we loved it! Love the Hawaiian atmosphere and the fun music. The staff is extremely friendly, attentive and so helpful navigating the menu. We ordered an appetizer to start, dumplings (nice sauce). My husband ordered the chicken teriyaki, it was a huge portion that he quickly devoured . I gave the chicken a try and it was delicious! I ordered the seared tuna salad, again a huge portion. I loved the Japanese inspired dressing and the tuna was prepared perfectly. It was too much for me to eat so I passed it along to my husband and he loved it too! Now for the dessert...it was AMAZING! We ordered the Coffee and Caramel Hi Snow...to die for! I will be thinking about until I am able to return and have it again. Thanks for bringing Forest Grove a great place for dining and hanging out! read more

First time at this restaurant and the staff was very inviting we were promptly seated and attended to by a very gracious server who recommended the wings off the appetizer menu and they were great just enough heat and cooked perfect then we had a grilled chicken salad and the combo ribs and chicken both were very tasty and we topped it off with there strawberry cheesecake hi snow which was very good overall a very pleasant experience and I will be returning read more

For $51 we had an awesome dinner, that left us with plenty of leftovers. We arrived at a little after 6 pm on a Saturday nite....every table was full, but the bar was temporarily vacant, so we decided to eat there. I ordered the $16 Aina Pack (I asked our super bar tender if I could sub something for the Spam...which he did in a flash!).The Aina Pack was a generous amount of four tasty selections, on a bed of rice, and a small side of Mac salad. The Boss ordered the $8 special of the nite: "Pele's Prize"; which was their furikake fries smothered in cheese, covered with a type of salsa, and topped with a scoop of Kalua pork? So filling and so good! ( I had to eat some of that too!!) I had three beers ($3 each), and the Boss has a couple of glasses of wine ($5, $6). After dinner we were shown the desert menu; and we just had to split the $7 Coffee Slated Caramel Hi Snow. I have no idea how we managed to get up from our bar stools; we were so stuffed. Our service was superb, and the meal was the same. read more

Kama'aina was a great experience! Everyone was so sincerely friendly. Our waiter, Chase, was so helpful in explaining the terms we'd never heard before and assured us we were in for a great experience. He was 100% right! The Fried Mandu (pork dumplings) was superb, the Citrus Shoyu dipping sauce, meh (just my opinion). Saimin, a traditional Hawaiian chicken soup was so deeply yummy, but the star was Rocky's Korean Chicken, perfect flavor, perfect crunch, perfect tenderness. We didn't try the HI Snow because we didn't understand that it was "shaved ice cream", definitely trying that next time. All in all a great dining experience. We tipped well, the service was worth it! read more

Flavorful and fresh food! Staff was knowledgeable and attentive. We had the pork, tuna salad and snow for dessert. It's great to see that they offer different sized portions, too. We left full but not feeling heavy. Oh, I'm craving the food just thinking of it! read more

Great food, awesome service, upscale atmosphere. We could have stayed and just kept eating and drinking if their hours were longer.

Before coming here, I had only eaten Hawaiian food at fast-casual places or in friends' homes, so this was something new and fun for me. I'm rarely anywhere near Forest Grove, so I wanted to try as much as I could. I ordered the 'Aina pack and enjoyed everything I had, the short ribs probably being my favorite. My husband had the Kalua/LauLau combo, so we got to try a pretty big variety between the two of us. We also shared some HI Snow for dessert (again, insatiable need to try everything) which was surprisingly light and refreshing. Great, very friendly service too, even with an event going on that same evening. read more

Onolicious! REAL Hawaiian food. Can't wait to come back. Already dreaming about the Haupia!!! Awesome local atmosphere. Just like being home in my lovely Hawaii :-) read more

We love the food here but the service is terrible. We waited forever for everything; for drinks, to order, for our food, for salt and pepper. The servers kept disappearing and we couldn't seem to get their attention. Very disappointing. Don't know if we will go back. read more

Very good food had the Warrior Pack. Menu had a large selection. Not crazy about the pineapple beer. The service was excellent Thanks

Went here the other night and it was pretty good great customer service and alright prices. Food was ready very quickly.

This is a wonderful Hawaiian restaurant. Our server, Landon, was personable, knowledgeable and attentive . The food was great and so was the Hawaii snow for dessert! Would recommend! read more

Have heard people raving about Kamaaina's garlic french fries, so together with my wife, we decided to try. It's OK, but you could get better quality if you buy frozen fries at Trader Joe's then putting it in the oven. I also tried their Saimin (Hawaiian noodle soup) which would remind me of our days in Ala Moana (Honolulu) several decades ago. Now that's very, very disappointing. The noodle and broth are way too salty to the point that I decided not to finish it even though I was quite hungry. The roasted pork that should have come with the saimin was "missing in action" so I had to ask the friendly waitress for it. All in all, a disappointing experience. read more

Terrific Hawaiian food with kind, caring owners. Great Mac! I had a rich saimin and my son's kalbi ribs were among the best we've tried. We will return. read more

I had dinner with some friends during the soft opening. Atmosphere is great, prices are reasonable, portions are large, and the food is incredible. I tried the coconut shrimp, and smoke meat for appetizers, they were both amazing! My entree was the Katsu chicken curry. I am not an eloquent food critic but my tastebuds were dancing. I won't comment on service because in a soft opening they were training... But I will definitely be coming back! read more

I love eating here! I go with my best friend often. We usually order the Furekake fries, which are always a heavenly treat after a long week of classes. I also am in love with the Manapua because they are so similar to the asian BBQ pork buns I always had growing up. I don't really like eating main dishes here mainly cause I can't finish them ever. Some dishes were just not to my liking though they were objectively delicious. read more

Amazing local Hawaiian food! So excited to find this treasure! My husband asked what I wanted for my birthday and I said I wanted to try Kama'aina. I was not disappointed. I had the Ahi poke bowl. He had a combo dinner. I can't remember the full name but it was Aloha something. Mahalo Kama'aina! You are my new go to spot for comfort food. I can't wait to try the oxtail soup next. read more

Thanks Kama'aina for another delicious experience. Your comfort foods of Hawaii never disappoints. Tejah made our dinner visit more than enjoyable. She has such a welcoming smile, and is so helpful with menu choices. Poke bowls and Poke Salads are favs, but decided on the Saimin- Wun Tun Min tonight, and it was an excellent choice! We will be back....soon! read more

Authentic Hawaiian food with a little more class than your standard Hawaiian place. Full bar with very tasty cocktails that have a good serving of alcohol. The garlic fries were awesome and the Kahlua pork had a great smokey flavor. Fun desserts! I would definitely go out of my way to come to this place! read more

This restaurant has incredible food! From the moment you walk in the staff was helpful, attentive and kind. The servers knew the menu and could answer any questions as well as make great recommendations. The food is amazing! Truly a gem worth going to! read more

a friend and i had dinner at one of my most favorite restaurants last night, Kama'aina. great food, great prices. we were served by Sierra, who was gracious, helpful and attentive. thank you Kama'aina. read more

Well, let me start off by saying I'm from O'ahu (born and raised) so I know local kine plate lunch food. Kama'ainas rocked it! Had the incredible fries, edamame, kal-bi, and salads made me feel like I was at home! Restaurant is clean, which we local moms are phobic about, the service was great, and just the atmosphere was relaxing. I will be back every time I'm visiting my kids! Aloha piha! read more

The food is great! Reminds me of Hawaii and they had our favorite beer, Wailua Wheat!!

In my opinion, one of the best if not the best Hawaiian joint in Oregon. Everything here is to die for. I definitely recommend the smoke meat and the spicy veggie stir fry. And that's just the appetizers and entrees. The Snowboxes are a heavenly combo or classic Hawaii shave ice and ice cream. My two favorites are the Li-Hing Mango and the Coffee Salted Caramel. Would definitely recommend this place to everyone regardless for a date or a family outing. read more

Very few vegetarian options so I had fries, edamame and mac salad. The fries were the best that I've had, ever. The edamame was a huge portion and was tasty as expected, but the mac salad could have been more flavorful. I'll give them another shot. read more

It's so awesome to have a true taste of Hawai'i in Forest Grove! I had the oxtail soup & it's just like the one my aunty makes from scratch in Hilo. I can't wait to go back & try more! read more

Amazing food! Just like what you'll find on the island. The appetizers are great sizes, the saimin is bomb and the Hawaiian ice heavenly. I leave with a belly ache from eating too much every time! read more

Great options for the whole family. Enjoyed the katsu and teriyaki chicken. Glad to see another new option for Forest Grove residents

I used to love this place. I waited with a friend at the front door at dinnertime yesterday for about 20 minutes and no one said anything or sat us at a table. Servers were there, just that there backs were turned. Oh, and they also did not notice when we walked out, I'm sure. We left and went to a different restaurant. read more

I was eating dinner here tonight and the food was so delicious! The portions were huge and the food was very tasteful. I would highly recommend this restaurant. The prices were very reasonable for the amount of food you get. The people were very friendly. I will definitely come back here to eat. My family loved it here!!! read more

OMGOSH. Came here after a state music competition. Everything was perfect. We had oyster ahi poke, Kalua pork, Kalbi ribs. Each dish delicious. Thanks for a great lunch read more

Went here for the soft opening and the food was amazing. My wife used them a few days later for a large lunch order for a buisness meeting (15 people) and they had everything ready when she showed up to pick up the order. Pork katsu is awesome. Great staff. Great addition to forest grove. read more

Some of the best Hawaiian food I've ever had. And I love Hawaiian food so that saying a lot.

Amazing food and even more amazing staff. You will feel like family the moment you walk in. Best Hawaiian food I've had in the 5 years I've lived in Oregon. Check them out, you won't be disappointed! read more

Great location and people. It was very warm and inviting. Oxtail soup is the real deal. Prices were high and portions were small. Either lower your prices and leave the portions where it's at or leave prices but be more generous on portions. Salmon bites were overcooked. Katsu was good just wish had more to balance the 2 scoop rice and mac salad. Glad they opened in this community because there are a lot of Hawaiians here that will come and support local to feel like they are home. read more
