The beef is melt-in-your-mouth tender. I felt like the macaroni salad needed to be zhuzhed, and I expected the cole slaw to have a more pineapple taste (you wouldn't know it was an ingredient). Beehive parking is a nightmare, but once you find one, there's plenty of food trucks. Husband is from O'ahu, and saw "Shaka Dogs" on the side of a lime green food truck. The "Shaka" part stood out to him and so he bypassed every truck and went straight to the lime green truck, titled "Shaka Brahs." He was happy to see the menu items, flavor syrups, and pidgin lingo on the menu and the truck. Husband began asking people if they've eaten there before and one guy said yes and said it's authentic. Husband has become skeptical from trying Hawaiian Time because he said it was rubbish and not authentic, and offensive to Hawaiian food. The odor coming from the truck was ono. It smelled like Korean short ribs and the spoonfuls of meat they were shoveling into people's lunch plates were good portions. Husband ordered momo chicken and short ribs. We came with friends, and they ordered momo chicken and the momo chicken ran out so they got substituted with Shaka Dogs (husband said it tasted like shoyu hot dogs) for one of their takeouts. Mac salad was on point, husband said, "Tastes like tutu's recipe." Husband tested them by ordering food in pidgin, and they understood him. That was a +++ for him. Massive disappointment. The poke is fish, rice, and soy sauce in a cup with no other toppings. The menu has "1 scoop" for $11.50 and "2 scoops" for $19. We assumed the second scoop was fish because it costs $7.50. I got one and my partner got two scoops. The second scoop is rice. We couldn't believe it and busted out the kitchen scale to confirm. And the Mac is perfect for me compared to others that add too much pepper or too much of other things. It's always 10/10 for me and the amount they give you in one plate for the price is amazing. This is our favorite take out spot in Salem! We typically grab a meal on the way to our weekly trivia night, and share with the team. Even with sharing we still go home with at least 2 more portions of leftovers. Prices are very reasonable. So we will often go twice a week and munch leftovers for days. (And it reheats beautifully!) My only complaint is that they need a punch card because I'd fill a couple a month at the rate we get food there.
