I'm pretty sure that I've been to their location on the east side before and was happy to see that they open another location on the west side. For a large bowl with two scoops of protein, they give you a pretty good amount of food. Although a lot of their protein comes preseasoned with different flavors and so you got to mix it matched, but sometimes you have to be able to balance what the preseasoned flavors are with everything else. Both my husband and I got the garlic salmon poke and Thai iced teas. The garlic salmon poke was okay. Something was spicy but I'm not sure what since I didn't add anything spicy? I am good with spicy foods so I doubt it was the garlic, so I am going to guess cross contamination from one of the other main bases. The salmon itself and crab salad were a little bland but the seaweed salad was good. The Thai iced tea was not good. It had a weird aftertaste and wasn't sweet. It tasted like it was made out of a premade powder mix. We didn't finish them and threw them away. It satisfies the craving, but it isn't the best poke we've had. My friends and I stopped by SeaSweets Poke for a quick lunch before hitting up the Nike Employee Store. This was our first time eating here. SeaSweets has a unique variety of fish options that you won't find at most other poke chains including truffle salmon, garlic salmon, cumin lime shrimp, and coconut lemongrass ahi. A nice perk is that they allow you to sample before you choose! A regular poke bowl (one scoop of fish, but can split to up to two options) costs $16.25 and a large poke bowl (two scoops of fish) costs $20.25, which seems on the steeper side for poke, but portions ended up being quite large. I ordered a regular BUILD YOUR OWN POKE BOWL and chose brown rice as my base and the garlic salmon and spicy albacore as my protein. For sides (which you can also get either one full scoop of one option or two half scoops of two options), I chose the hijiki edamame and the lemon pepper krab salad. You can get as many toppings as you want and so I went all out with the fried chili oil, pickled ginger, masago, nori, and wasabi pepper sauce. Upon my first bite, the wasabi pepper sauce was quite overwhelming as all I could taste was black pepper. The fish (even upon sampling) wasn't super tasty and honestly pretty watery, even with the sauce. The biggest mistake I made though was the fried chili oil. As someone who normally orders 4 or 5 stars at Thai restaurants, this chili oil was BURNING HOT both on my lips and throat! The lemon pepper krab salad was an absolute necessity in cooling my mouth down and I definitely needed more of it. Drinking ice water didn't cool the fire either and I unfortunately had to end up tossing half of it because it was just inedible, something I very rarely do. One of my friends (who tolerates spice well too) had the same issue and also ended up throwing most of his out. TLDR, beware the chili oil!! The interior is clean, modern, and simplistic- nothing fancy by any means. I will note that they had the A/C on very high to the point where I was shivering while eating. Service was good and the servers were friendly. You bus yourself, so there's not much service involved outside of putting your bowl together. You'd expect it being near all the rivers that the salmon are at least fresh - it isn't, It's mushy. It was about $24/pound, and in all honestly, it's more than a known Japanese market nearby where its much more fresh. If you are getting your poke with all the side dishes and rice, it's possible it's not noticeable as all the sides will blend and mask the mush of the fish. What ended up happening was that the salad overpowered the poke completely, and it was a little over salted. Additionally, the Spicy Mayo that we got was extremely spicy and not really flavorful at all. I paid about $20, including service fee for this and we also barely had any poke at all. Unlike a lot of the places in the area, where you build your own bowl and pick your sauces and toppings, this place mixes different sauces with the proteins so that it's already flavor-packed by the time you eat, eliminating the chance of not getting enough sauce. While I like being able to customize things more, I think this is a good option if you're not super picky. For $12 you can get a small, which comes with one scoop of poke and two sides, or a large for $16 which had an additional scoop of protein. I think prices could come down at dollar or two, but we did like our food. I ended up getting a small with slightly spicy salmon poke and the edamame salad and cabbage slaw for my sides. I also added a runny soft boiled egg. My partner got a large of the tuna with edamame salad and seaweed salad. Come hungry, because they don't skimp on rice here. We left very full. This place does exactly what it's supposed to do. I had a large Poké bowl recently. I asked for very little rice and lots of kale salad for the base then topped with Aji tuna and a bunch of toppings. Everything was delicious and when I got to the bottom of the bowl the combination of nicely spiced kale and rice was very satisfying - a few light, finishing bites. The wait staff was very pleasant and friendly, offering me water when I declined a menu drink. The place was sparkly clean, brightly lit and overall very comfortable. Grand opening day for their 2nd shop, located in the strip mall at Murray and Milliken. Arriving on a Thursday at 12:30, I thought I'd be waiting in a long lunch line, but while there was definitely a crowd, I got through the line and to my table all inside about 3 minutes, so pretty quick for a launch day. They have two sizes of bowls, running $12 and $16. I opted for the larger option, and after running through a few toothpick tastes, settled on the Salmon and the Octopus poke's, on white rice with sides of their Kimchee Corn and Wakame Seaweed, and topped it off with a bit of Masago (think mild orange caviar) and Furikake (a common Japanese Seaweed flake and sesame seasoning). The food was fantastic. As a home chef I've made poke many times at home, but it's always nice to see someone else's twists. With poke, there pretty much are no rules other than "there's raw fish in there", so I like playing the field to see others' interpretations on this dish, and SeaSweets did not disappoint. The Octopus was flavorful and PERFECTLY steamed. It's super-easy to screw up Octopus and turn it into a rubber tire. This was crisp but not chewy, very tender. Flavor was beautiful. The Salmon as well was nicely executed. Cuts were even, and the peppers gave it just the right kick. The sides were nicely done. The seaweed was... Well, it's seaweed, but it was marinated nicely and Wakame lovers should appreciate this. I liked the Kimchee corn better than I thought I would. I was worried I was going to get a mouthful of yellow-colored Kimchee, but actually the flavor was 95% sweet corn, with just the welcome Kimchee "afterglow". The menu at SeaSweets Poke is advertised as a "build-your-own" bowl creation, featuring 8 different types of proteins and a wide variety of free and premium toppings and sauces to dress up your bowl the way that you like it best. When it came time to design my bowl, I decided to start with the spicy salmon protein and a white rice base. This combination was then followed by a long list of toppings: hijiki edamame, house pickled bean sprouts, shichimi guacamole, masago, pickled ginger, nori, furikake, and fried onion (isn't that a mouthful!). To top it all off, I decided to add a mixture of four different sauces to the top of the bowl: spicy mayo, wasabi pepper sauce, wasabi mayo, and miso sesame sauce. I decided to omit the house fried chili oil, as the salmon protein is already mixed with serrano peppers, which adds a nice kick to the bowl. With my grandiose order completed, I proceeded to anxiously stare at my phone as I awaited the arrival of my postmates delivery driver. Upon arrival, I eagerly opened my front door to find a neatly sealed bag with my creation inside. After bringing the bag inside, I cracked open the provided chopsticks and took my first bite. Two words immediately came to mind: absolutely phenomenal. The fish had tons of flavor, no fishy smell or taste. The toppings were fresh and proportionate with regards to the size of the bowl. The sauces all complemented one another and didn't overpower the poke itself. It quickly dawned on me that I had discovered a hidden gem, a diamond in the rough, as it can be quite difficult to discover a new restaurant that you truly enjoy.
