Poke crunch bowl

This place is unreal- just a hidden gem. We go almost every Sunday when the Tigard market is open! Their poke is unmatched. Food service is pretty quick and the staff is so friendly. One of our favorites!

Beautiful little food cart area in downtown Tualatin next to Stevens Marine.

If you're in downtown Tualatin and craving authentic Hawaiian flavors, do yourself a favor and visit Paradise Grindz. This family owned food cart is something special. Seeing the whole family working together was honestly heartwarming. You can feel the pride and love they put into their food, and they were incredibly patient answering all my questions about the menu. First off, the prices are so affordable and reasonable, especially for the quality and portion sizes you get. And I don't say this lightly, I've eaten at Hawaiian restaurants and food carts all over California, throughout Portland, Las Vegas, and even in Oahu and Maui. In my experience, this is by far the best I've had. I ordered the Paradise Bowl, which comes with ahi tuna poke and kalua pork over rice, topped with their majah sauce, their version of spicy mayo mixed with sriracha, plus unagi sauce and tobiko or masago. The poke was incredibly fresh and high quality. The kalua pork was cooked perfectly. It was slightly salty for my personal preference, but after a gym session it honestly hit the spot in the best way. I also got a side of lau lau, tender, buttery pork wrapped in edible taro leaves, seasoned and steamed to perfection, wrapped in foil to lock in all that heat and flavor. It was so rich and satisfying that I had to save half just so I could enjoy it again later that evening. The portions are generous, the flavors are authentic, and the overall experience left me excited to come back and try more of their menu, especially the weekend specials. Highly recommend supporting this amazing local family business. You won't regret it.

Oh my gosh, the food here is quite amazing. The chicken was seasoned fantastically. The best part was the price point and the abundance amount of food in each offer. My husband and I ordered the fried chicken, garlic chicken and the firecracker chicken. All of which were very tasty. As a first time comer, we would highly suggest the garlic chicken. It was very good. The owner greeted us, asked if we had any questions then proceeded to take our order. It was very quick. There are a lot of outdoor seats with umbrellas for bright and sunny days. There is a park nearby as well to enjoy the outdoor activities and atmosphere.

My sister was craving poke nachos, so we ordered that along with a side of mac salad. The poke nachos were pretty good, but I wish the wonton chips had been made fresh since some tasted a bit stale. The mac salad was just okay, I've definitely had better.

Shaved ice

Great option for a calm day at the park. This is one of the food trucks in downtown Tigard that has a very nice seating area and restrooms nearby, making the area complete. I had a shaved ice for dessert under the spring sun and I felt very good with it.

My friend wanted to come here after seeing the lausubi all over social media. I'm not a huge laulau fan, but there are many options to choose from. I went with the volcano nachos. It was huge, the lid couldn't even close. It came with lomi salmon, kalua pig, poke, & the chips were wonton chips, topped with their sauce. The chips were nice & crisp & everything paired well together. I ate all the chips, so those would be soggy later & took the remaining home, so I could eat it over rice later. So delicious & hit the spot. We don't have many options when it comes to food like this on the other side of the bridge, so this was great. They're located in a cute park that has tables to eat & bathrooms. Will definitely be back.

Kahlua nachos with a side of mac salad

If we lived closer, I could see us coming here a lot! Honestly pretty good prices for a massive kahlua nacho tower that made me widen my eyes when we got it. The workers are definitely nice and smiled at our reactions, which I'm sure they get a lot. The pork was super tender and not super salty, like a lot of Hawaiian joints can be sometimes. The guy in front of us took the last of the poke (we got there around 12:30p) which sounded good to try too. It's a nice little food truck spot with kids playing and people with their dogs!

Come support a local family owned business. Paradise Grindz serves up authentic Hawaiian food. The food cart is located in the Universal Plaza in Tigard. They have a regular menu and specials, too. The owners are super nice, their daughter that helps out and takes orders is adorable. There's quite a few choices for Hawaiian food in the area. This one shouldn't be missed. Service is always pleasant. They serve it fresh, which means there's a wait. They are closed on Mondays and Tuesday. Make sure to check them out.

I tried their pork Laulau today and it's too salty. I think if the amount of salt can be dialed down a bit, this would be more delicious. The liquid smoke flavor has to come through if being used in the ingredients. Everything else is perfect except too salty! One method I use to test if it's too salty is to put a sample at the top of my tongue and extract the juice out of the meat. If there is a slight burning flavor then it's too salty.

When you want to support a family business and know that the food is authentic, this Hawaiian food cart is one of our family's favorite spots. We love the fried combo plate that comes with fried chicken, noodles, rice, and Mac salad. And if you love poke nachos with super crispy wonton chips, this is where it's at. Love their hospitality and aloha vibe, reminds me of the islands. Their speciality is their Lau Lau, which is why I decided to check them out in the first place! Can't find a good spot for Lau Lau here on the Westside of Portland. Mahalo to this family, bringing good food and the spirit of Aloha to our community!

Top is the fried chicken/fried noodle plate. Bottom is today's special. Both were so delicious!

Loved Shaye's cooking when she was working from her house. Now she's got a pod at the Tigard Food Carts and the plate lunches are still huge and still so delicious! She still does catering and trust me, we've ordered that a few times with nothing but praises from our guests. If you know, you know!

Volcano nachos
K C.

Really good food, amazing family run food truck with great service, and so accessible (especially when visiting Tigard's farmer's market)! The volcano nachos (pork and ahi over fried wontons) were delish every time I went. Fiancé loved the Kahlua plate. Get there early cuz they sell out almost every time we have gone... nommm nommm

Lau lau and Kalua plate
Kasey F.

Loved that this plate actually comes with lomi lomi salmon. Most places here on the mainland don't add it to Hawaiian plates. The lau lau was delicious - the kalo leaves were nice and tender. Would be even better with poi, but it's less popular and harder to get here, so that's totally understandable. So stoked on this plate! Thank you!

But today, I had the time to swing by and fortunately he was open, but SOLD OUT. Fortunately, he had a few things left over. So I said yes to a mix plate. Nolan's Hawaii accent is still thick it made me feel like I was back home on the west side for a second (!!!!thank you!!!!) I met some people outside the food stand, a business man from Hawaii and some California people I mistaken were from Hawaii as well, lol. It was an awesome interaction, from the moment I got there I got greeted by strangers waiting for food, to going up to the window and asking "so what? No more nuttin left?" Nolan's response was "Nah I only get mochicko chicken and kalua, you likem?" Haha that was a definite yes! Won't miss out on home food esp if word of mouth was already out there. So I waited a few minutes for my food, and the box was heavy. Haha it felt like when you would eat at your aunty and uncles house and they pack you the party left overs. I opened my plate lunch and I was greeted by a huge portion of chicken, pork rice and Mac salad. And let me tell you, the Mac salad didn't have so much frills like what you would see in a Portland Hawaii food joint. It was sauced, and seasoned. PERFECT! No need for all the extra add ons. As I started eating, let me say that kalua pork was no joke so moist and easy to eat not even close to dried out. The chicken tasted nice and crispy with just enough marinate and fluff. I haven't found this anywhere in Oregon..until here. Yeah sure there's a poke and katsu bar in the shopping center next door... but I take the random food cart in the parking lot any day over something franchised

The location was easy to find, but as with most places out here, can be a little challenging but doable. The place is big. There's a lot of seating indoor and has an outdoor area with bench seating like back home. Already hitting all the positives. The guy at the register is awesome, reminded me of my nephew. He took our order and gave us a buzzer. We sat outside and within minutes our buzzer went off. On the other side of the register is the pickup area. The guy pointed out each entree and repeated what it was. Even though I already knew what the entrees were, I actually appreciated that. It was good customer service. The food was like kanak attak. The portion was humongous. The poke nacho style wonton chips with spicy poke and kalua pig was broke da mout on point! With 3 of us sharing, we couldn't finish it, but made sure we ate all the poke so no left over lol. We also had the meat jun and garlic chicken. They were just as good. Only thing I was not 100 percent happy with was the rice and mac salad. Rice may be fresh but seemed day old to me and the mac salad needed to be thrown out. I did tell the guy. It was starting to have that sour smell. I know they didn't know, but as a local, we know and we have to support each other so everyone stay happy.

The setup is order at the counter and then find a spot to eat. They have a nice covered area outside but it was a bit hot that day so we quickly found a nice table in the restaurant. The food was ready quickly and the portion was epic! We shared an order of poke nachos, a side of Mac salad, spam musubis and a mango mochi square and it was definitely the right choice to share. The poke nachos were unreal. The chips tasted like wonton chips and they gave SO much poke. Delicious. The Mac salad was good as were the spam musubis. We were too full for the mochi after dinner but I worked on it over the next two days and it was so delightful. So moist and chewy, perfect texture. My only knock was how sticky/gross the trash/busing area were. I'm sure that's common with the amount of sauce on each plate but it probably should be cleaned more frequently as it attracts flies. That being said, we will most certainly come back!

It was lacking that strong garlicky, buttery flavor. It still satisfied my cravings though! The ribs were also good and were fall off the bone tender. I would pass on the Huli Huli Chicken next time because it was a bit dry. I also didn't care for the potato Mac salad. I would come back in a heartbeat. For a food truck, I'm thoroughly impressed. This is some of the best Hawaiian food I've had in Portland/Vancouver. I've tried GrindwTryz, Kiawe Island Bistro, Ohana Hawaiian Cafe, Ate oh Ate, Hula Boy Charbroil, Hawaiian Style Grill and Hawaiian Soul and the two places I would go back to are GrindwTryz and Kanaka Island Grill. If I had to pick between those two choices I'd pick Kanaka if distance wasn't a concern. Be prepared to wait a little. Service was friendly and we went with about an hour left and they were still pretty well stocked. You can also eat outdoors or inside at the nearby bar.

I was thinking, 'For that price, it better be like, steakhouse quality.' ... and it was. Oh my gosh. The guava ribs were to die for, and the portion she gave me was huge. I've never had guava glazed ribs before, so I've got nothing to compare it to, but it was amazing. The flavor was more sweet and less salty as opposed to a tomato based barbecue glaze. The guava really came through. The meat fell off the bone easily, because it was cooked perfectly. I wished I could eat it all before it got cold, but I could not. The Huli Huli chicken was great, too. The rice was perfect. The Mac was a little better than average. I just wished there was more of it, since I got exactly one scoop. The lady who helped me was cool, and obviously gave me a huge portion. Based on the price, I can't really afford to eat here more than once right now, but if I could, I'd make this a weekly thing. Probably in the top three to five of some of the best Hawaiian I've ever had.
