Can't really recommend a locksmith who lets somebody into a rental unit without verifying that the person actually lives there. There are enough problems with squatters these days without locksmiths being accomplices. read more

If you need keys copied, this place will do it real quick like. And it's only about $1.50-2.00 per key. It's a mom and pop shop run by Cantonese people thus it's strictly business. Don't expect a pleasant conversation, expect the job to be done. I can't say much on their other services but getting your keys copied here is easy and quick though there's a minimum charge for credit cards so be aware of that. read more

Lucky for the one star. This operation is phony. Locked out of my flat, Kam came, sprayed WD 40 in the lock and then picked it with a long narrow stick. Yes, I got in but now I can't open the door myself. He made sure he messed it up so I would call him back. I did and I'm still waiting..... Never use this business. read more

This is one of the only local locksmiths that carry a replacement lock cylinder for the electronic gates commonly found in San Francisco. Gone to other stores and nobody from Home Depot, Lowes or even a few American Locksmiths carry such a thing, and their prices reflect it. They wanted $100 for the cheaper, no name model. And over $120 for a Kwikset. This is just the cylinder and 2 keys, so add more to that price when considering copies and labor if someone doesn't know how to install it. read more

Kam Wan Key Locksmith - Keys & Locksmiths Near Me - Fullerton, California

They were there when I needed them most. Customer service is never to be taken for granted and they were quick, kind, and the keys worked - thank you! Bonus: there's a fun assortment of key related paraphernalia to amuse yourself with while you wait. read more

I wish I called Kam Wan prior to the work I had done on my front door & bedroom. I could have saved time & $200. KW is affordable, no nonsense, quick & give you small windows, so you don't have to be home all day! read more

So my baby lost my keys in the house this morning. I looked for a few hours. I called & got quote for a old car key. He picked up the call & quoted me $200. I told him give me about an hour to look for it, he replied he will be busy in a hour. He texted asking for car info. I held off since it's $200. I continued looking. Called back about 30mins later & asked if that quote included the remote that comes with the car. He rejected me because it's too complicated. He replied saying it was too many questions. Are you kidding me? It's a $200 service I would like to know if that included the remote that goes with the car. He turned me down & I will never be going to this guy because plain & simple he couldn't tell me this info. What a jerk?!? *update 3 days later he texts back with the middle finger emoji(6:15pm 1st quarter of Game 4) really? Yes I shiet you not this guy texts my personal line from his number with the finger. #petty #metoo #updatedmyreview #tryme I hope he never finds me because he's a locksmith- ruthless- he could break into my house. So let this be a time stamp for the cops if he ever contacts me again. read more

Why is the credit card minimum $10? I came in here to request a duplicate for a key and it was $1.50. I should've suspected that they have a minimum. I'm wondering why since I'm sure most keys don't cost over that and data & processing fees are around $0.03... Really annoyed with that. read more

POOR WORK ETHIC / WORKMANSHIP Paid to repair a faulty lock, but after trying unsuccessfully for 20 minutes, they gave up and left. Tried getting them to come back and finish the job, but they said something along the lines of "that's as good as it's going to get" without offering a refund. Hired a different, cheaper locksmith, who diligently spent 3 hours and successfully repaired the lock. read more

Ahh, the infamous SINGLE STAR RATING! How badly could a key copying exchange go to result in just one star? Pretty bad. Let's start with what the natural law of locksmithery says should have happened: 4 keys + An Order for 2 Sets = 12 Keys, and in particular (1 orginal + 2 Copies) x 4. This is what happened at Kam Wan Key Locksmith's: 4 keys + An Order for 2 Sets = 12 keys: 3 working originals, 7 copies of lord knows what, 1 working copy, and 1 mystery key. To be fair, I have not returned to speak to them about the problem, so I cannot say how they would handle a refund or figuring out the problem. read more

This place gets 5 stars because they saved me!!! One Sunday morning, my roommate had gone out of town to LA for the weekend and I was at home, doing laundry and getting ready to go out for the day. I popped downstairs in my apartment building while in my pjs and slippers to check on my clothes before my friend arrived to pick me up. I had unlocked my front door as I was only going to be gone at most for 30 seconds. I checked on my clothes, ran back up to my apartment and I went to open it and I just about crapped my pants. The door was locked. Shit. Holy shit. I ran downstairs to see if I could find something in the garage of the building to open the door and I couldn't find anything. So I sat in front of the building doors waiting for my friend to pull up. Luckily she arrived within minutes and I signaled to her to come in. I told her "I locked myself out of my apartment. I have no cell phone, no keys and my roommate's out of town." Remember, I'm in my pjs. So we go in the garage and look again for anything to stick in the key hole. My friend even went in her car to see if she had anything. I found some little thinging to poke in the hole and we tired for 10 minutes and nothing. So my friend said she'd try to drive down the street and find a locksmith that was open. And that's when Kam Wan Key Locksmith came to the rescue. It's was hilarious because my friend drove up 3 minutes later with this overweight, random, Asian guy in her passenger seat. It laughed a little because it was a sight to see. She found him down the street and caught him right before they were going to close up. The guy worked his magic and was able to unlock my apartment door. I was happiest person ever!!! We drove him back to the place and in my pjs, walked into the center and paid the $60 for unlocking my apartment. I don't know if that's what they charge people normally or if that's crazy cheap. Either way, he gave me his card in case I needed their help again (they're on call 24/7 if you get locked out of your car or place). I thanked him and I will never, ever leave my apartment without my keys in hand again. THANK YOU!!!!!!!! read more

I get most of my keys made here. Service is solid. My locksmith said to go to a locksmith for keys (vs big box store) because the machines are calibrated better for better accuracy. Plus this is right in the neighborhood. read more

I've only been here twice to get duplicates made, and while the price was reasonable and the service was quick, the older woman who made my keys both times was incredibly rude. She basically threw my finished keys on the counter and grunted with her back to me when I said "thank you". It's just a locksmith, so it's not a big deal, but I expect a bit more just out of common courtesy. read more

First of all, I am the roommate Imelda J is talkign about, and I wish i was in town to save her, but i wasnt. Second of all, I locked myself out before Imelda moven in when I was making a bath, meaning water was rining inside...and I called the locksmith I found in yellowbook, and I ended up spending about 700dollers. I wish i knew about the fat asian guy. well, a couple month later I had to make a copy of my keys and i went there, he makes copies of keys so quickly it was magical. They only speak Chinese, but I highly recomend this place!!! read more

A tiny key and locksmith shopfront in the Outer Sunset. I prefer to go to Kam Wan b/c it's run by 2 older, small Chinese people that remind me of my grandparents. Miniature buddhas and little birds in cages are surrounded by smokey incense and the calming sound of trickling water. My favorite thing about Kam Wan is the small koi fish stamp that the proprietor embosses onto the keys, aesthetically pleasing and making it easier to identify similar looking keys. Prices are very reasonable, making it easy to support your local business. read more

I hate to give this place a low rating because it's a mom and pop business and I'm a huge proponent for such but I had a key copied here and it was very difficult to use. Now, I tried to give it a week or two- maybe I just needed to break it in, that didn't work either. Make sure that whomever does your key takes the rubber holder off the key itself. The man who did my key at Kam Wan didn't. Maybe it was my bad for not telling him to take it off/taking it off myself but I'll wager to say locksmiths should know better. I ended up having the same key re-copied somewhere else and now it works fine. read more

Walked in and out in less than 10 minutes with duplicate keys so for fast service this places gets a 5. The owners are a Cantonese couple whose English is not great. As a result we communicated in semi-Cantonese semi mandarin to solve our problem. She is worried that we will make her pay for the duplicate key (that we brought) so we had to write it down to say we wouldn't. Not sure why that's such a big deal. It's really cheap though, 9 dollar for duplicate. What more can one ask for a key place? read more

Very great service! I lost my keys this morning and wanted to change my keys to make sure no one can use my lost keys to open my door. I called them and they suggested me change the key instead of changing the lock. I sent them the pictures of my doors and they responded with a quote very fast. They cake to my house in 30 minutes and helped me change the keys in the door! Fantastic service and response! read more

Took a pair of keys to be made. Only one out of two were duplicated correctly. When I took the key back to ask them to remake it - they refused and made me pay again. Not coming back here. read more

I really recommend these guys. Kam Wan was very professional, quick, polite and affordable. I have done an extensive research before calling Kam Wan. All the other locksmiths in the market act as if they are "doctors" ( I mean, especially when it comes to their rates!) I can ensure you won't find a better price than Kam Wan out there. Five stars for them! read more

I broke my key off in the lock at 7pm last night, a very cold and rainy night. When all I wanted to do was get inside to be warm and dry. They were at my home within 30 minutes from my call and had my door opened, repaired the lock and fixed the problem with the door which caused the key to break. I am in their debt for coming out as quickly as they did to rescue me. I will gladly use their services again and recommend them to all. read more

Mom came to visit and accidentally locked us out of the house. So glad I called Kam Wan because despite speaking to a very direct woman on the phone, Alex stopped by within 10 minutes to remedy our predicament. Although we weren't able to save our door handle since we apparently had a newer type lock with smart key, Alex did a wonderful job not to damage our door. He was extremely professional, soft-spoken and compassionate as he saw we had a toddler and made urgent note to clean up the sharp metal shavings afterwards. Thanks for saving the day, Alex. read more

The first time I went here, the elderly lady made keys for me. I needed two sets. I was very happy that she made one of the keys golden and the other silver. Very logical. She charged me $1.50 per key and gave me a receipt. The second day, I realized that i needed an additional of keys for my gates. The elderly man made the keys. Unfortunately, he did not do what the lady did...He gave me two silver keys and charged $4.35 and no receipt. Sigh...I wasn't too happy but I am supporting a mom and pop business. He didn't understand that I had requested different colors and did not give me a receipt. On top of that, one of the keys did not open the gate. I went back right away. The elderly lady was there. I was so happy to see her. She took the non-functional key and made some adjustments. It worked. I didn't want to cost them more money so I did not ask them to rekey in a different color. 6/12/2019 Unfortunately, Today I had to make an extra trip and pay extra. She did not honor the fact that she keyed the wrong key. Task was simple..make one copy of a set of keys. She made one key that worked the second key did not work. So I went back at the end of my work day and asked her to rekey. She would not. She asked me to pay for another key. So each key cost $1.63 x 3. The total cost is a much but the cost of my time is too costly. I would like to support mom and pop business but I like things to be accurate and businesses to fix the errors they make. The lady didn't give me a receipt during my first trip but she did give one for my third key. I just have bad luck with this store. Other people have better luck with them. It's just trial and error. read more

Lifesaver! My new landlord gave us one set of keys and left the country for three weeks. When we copied our set at Home Depot one didn't work. Returned them, and had Home Depot make another try. I will give them a generous 5 stars for this is the second place I came to get a key duplicated. The first place on taraval was a general hardware store so they were not able to duplicate the key I wanted. I drove to Noriega, parked by Walgreens and 5 min + 2.50 plus tax later, it's done. Since my key was atypical I asked if it didn't work I can bring it back. Yes, I can and it was stamped with their workmanship. I decided to get a second key made since it was cheap and I didn't want to have to hunt for a spare key again. read more

Last time when I locked myself out, this locksmith came in a white van with his Chinese wife and son (I guess) within 20 minutes and spent less than a minute unlocking our front door. This time I decided to use his service again. I called the number posted on Yelp and a Chinese man (perhaps the same guy as last time) answered the phone and said he would come soon. Not long after that, I received a text from a different cell phone number verifying my address. I thought it might be his son's number. 20 minutes later two scruffy young guys (not the ones we used the service before) showed up and demanded $200 for the same service, more than twice what we paid last time. When I balked at the price, one of the guys became threatening, and I called the whole thing off. He then told me that there was a $50 service fee for them to come out. I informed them that nothing was discussed during the phone call, and they eventually gave up trying to milk me for money and left. This felt like a shake down, pretty crazy experience considering we had such a positive experience with this same business last time. Really disappointed this time. read more

If you want to make copies for a key they are good. But if you want to call them for locksmith during an emergency, you might want to reconsider. They will charge you hefty price and take advantage of your desperation. It is a family owned business. The father is nice but SON and mom are greedy. Mom is greedy too but SON is the worst. I already had a quote but the son tried to charge me higher price and he yells at his father. Not a nice guy. read more

This guy is a joke. I call to ask if they are a store or travel only because I need to get a key made. He says, "You know, that's really funny. Usually people either just show up, or go to a store like Home Dept or Ace. But I'm really busy and on the other phone so I'll have to call you back." But then I ask him to just answer my question if he's a store front and he had already hung up. I called back and it rang then went to voicemail. Called two more times and same thing. Why would I go here if I can't even get a straight answer?? GREAT customer service read more

I needed a front gate cylinder rekeyed. Once I explained this to them and we agreed on what I needed they did the work in 15 minutes counting cutting 4 keys. They even dug around to find two screws I had to drill out to remove the lock. Total price about $25.00. Much cheaper than the $100.00 plus to replace the lock. Quick, cheap, open till 8PM and they get the job done well. I came in to make a couple copies of my house keys and the process couldn't have been easier. They're key making skills aren't all that great. You may have to go back to have the keys re-cut even if it is cheap. I really felt ripped off when I went there recently to purchase a new lock for my mailbox.
