Completely ignored when I walked in until I said hello. Was charged $3.50 for a colored key when the sign clearly said $3.00 and on top of that the 3 keys I got feel like a fake metal compared to my regular keys. When the lady was done she tossed my "new" keys on the table. Rudeness! read more

The customer service is horrible. I was in there in other day inquiring about the price of my house key. They don't take credit card for purchases under $10. So I asked her how much will it be since I will be bringing cash. She said $2. I showed up in the next day with exactly $2. Then she said its $2.17 with tax. I walked out frustrated. Why didn't you tell me it was $2.17 instead of $2. If you are going to tell customers the price, please provide them the EXACT price. read more

Though others apparently have issues with keys being copied, my service by the Chinese couple at Kam Wan today was unique and excellent. I needed to replace the deadbolt latch & mechanism for a rather esoteric 6pin Schlage cylinder. Options were to go with a locksmith (calls around from Google start the proposition at $75 or thereabouts); or a hardware store replacement of the entire deadbolt assembly and re-keying (about the same starting price); or to pop into Kam Wan down the hill & let them rifle through their surplus parts (as any good fix-it shop has) for the perfect fix for around $20!! They saved me a good $50 by having an array of spare parts on hand and the intimate knowledge of an experienced locksmith. Once you get past the minor language barrier (obviated by the ease with which you can show the parts if you happend to bring them in like I did) and you've got the exact kind of service only a local repair shop can give you! This review is for their key copying services. I was satisfied with my service here. One of their selling points is that they are open until 8PM (unusual for businesses in the Sunset area!). Came over here with three keys to be copied and was serviced pretty quickly and only had to wait a few minutes. In and out in under 10 minutes! I'm not expecting 5 star service for key copying so I wasn't too miffed by their abrupt manner. I believe it's cash only here, but not totally certain. Simple key copying requests are probably in the range of $2 to $4. read more

There's no place better to make duplicate keys than here. You can walk out with new sets in 10-15 minutes for very reasonable prices - no questions asked. (Simple keys are $1.50. Master keys are $5.) They were very reasonably priced for rekeying decades old lock cylinders and maintain a large inventory of parts, even obscure ones. I was in need of a locksmith last wednesday and told an emergency fee would be applied by many other smiths in the area. I called this company begging for soneone to unlock my mistaken key mishap and got someone who was willing. The man that came about was dressed nicely in professional locksmith attire and signage on the vehicle. The lock was picked open in seconds and the day went great after that. I came in to get a lock re-keyed and then to get some duplicates of the new key. They finished in a reasonable amount of time and tested the new keys. The problem is when I went home to install the lock, I discovered the old key still works. They basically re-keyed the lock to the same old key and made duplicates of the old key. I had to uninstall the lock and return to the store. When I showed them the re-key was not done, the the owners did not say anything. A young man then re-did the work and this time it worked then apologized at the end. I am giving one star for having to waste my time installing and then uninstalling the lock and for an extra trip to the store. read more
