Lovely, super friendly staff and a good variety of food. Consistent quality. I used to think it was the same as Cozy Diner, but I've decided it's much better. Good salad bar -- one of the few in town. On Monday night they have live country music in the back room, which is great fun! Recommended! read more

Always up for some Kalico Kitchen. Crazy friendly service and outstanding food quality. Would highly recommend eating here. The lady we had serving us was too amazing to the point where it forced me to write a review about it. She delivered our meal with energy, a smile, and humor. read more

This little hometown restaurant is great. It's like having a home away from home they cook food like you would in your own kitchen but you don't have to clean up the dishes. I love this little place read more

We ordered out and it was delivered quickly. The chicken fried steak was the best we have ever had in Chico. Homemade chicken noodle soup was thick and creamy. read more

Went to pick up food and saw employees were not wearing masks. That bothered me so will not be going back right away. Food was not as good as before. read more

The food was okay. The waitress was super nice & sweet, the place is nice, but the food just wasn't of good quality. It was extremely bland & the gravy tasted like it was from a can. Even tho you get a lot of food for your buck, I probably won't return for a while. read more

Kalico Kitchen - Monte cristo sandwich!! Sooooo good. - Diners Near Me - Chico, California

I order New Yorksteak and eggs look good but first bite horrible my kids thank good they order eggs and pancakes and bacon they said it was that bad we did not eat anything I call the waitress and she comes back to tell me she has not had a complaint all morning I did not want to argue with the sweet old lady she did offer my any else but what I saw in two dishes no way manager never came by to check on us or take care of the food that wasn't touched or something so we just paid and left not even a sorry we left I tip cause I don't think is the waitress fault. Never will come again. read more

We tried Kalico Kitchen for the first time last night. Same exact menu as Cozi dinner but specials are on different nights. Our server Jenne was great and the food was tasty. I ordered the Reuben sandwich and it came on marble rye. It had mayo instead of the traditional 1000 island, and it was a good change. The fries were cooked perfect. If you like Cozi but prefer a quieter place try Kalico Kitchen. read more

Great food, great. They have some killer steak and eggs mmm. And warning it gets u stuffed!

Best service of my life there so kind food is always Fresh and they treat you good even if your looking a hot mess and your in your pjs the service is outstanding! read more

I was pretty disappointed with our experience. The staff was nice, but the food was not great. We went on St. Patrick's Day for corned beef and cabbage. The meat and cabbage were pretty good, but potatoes were under cooked and carrots were over cooked. I took my toddler in to use the restroom and it was so discussing that I took her out to the car where I had a portable potty. I don't think I'll be going back. read more

The service is okay, you constantly hear waitresses (one in particular) having very loud conversations with regulars. The food tastes good but makes you wish you had never been born in the bathroom later. read more

Everytime we're back in Chico visiting we make it a point to stop and eat breakfast before returning home great food and great atmosphere. Keep it up guys read more

I've been eating there far too much recently but I LOVE the hometown food!! Kids eat for 99 cents and it even comes with a sundae for free that mom and dad love! My husband is very picky but there is nothing he doesn't love there. And don't even get me started on the service. I've NEVER had a bad waiter or waitress at this place...they even tag team you! The Managers walk around filling your drinks and check on you while the waitresses woo over you and your kids. One girl really stood out to us, her name is September. She was so nice to our kids, ALL of the staff has been great to our kids but her name I do remember. Go there, eat there and love it there, you wont be disappointed and you wont leave hungry. read more

I believe the manager had to re-clean our table when we sat down. I ordered pancakes that I did not expect to come with strawberries and they were terrible. My friend's hash browns were under cooked. When he mentioned it to the waitress she said, "Oh...did you want more?" Ummm no we do not want more under cooked food that taste terrible. When asked what we would like to drink they forgot to bring the waters for the three kids. All in all I will not go back to this place. Service, cleanliness and taste of food was all terrible. read more

This diner is a real gem. Large portions, fair prices, and friendly service have kept my family and I coming back for several years. The food, as best as we can tell, is always made fresh, and is low in preservatives. Aside from a few of their "diet" pies, there are also no artificial sweeteners used in their food. One word of caution, though... if you order anything with country gravy, you should probably get it on the side, as it tends to get put on pretty thick. Also, if you have sulfite allergies, you should be aware that they use Heinz tomato products, which can cause you issues. As a side note, this diner also offers reasonably fast, free w-ifi. read more

If i could give them 0 I would. Horrible customer service. Horrible burnt hamburger. Don't waste your money go to Russell's down the street around the corner. read more

My absolute favorite place to get Breakfast at in Chico! I have lived here all my life and I cannot believe I have been missing out!! The food portions are HUGE and the pricing is great. The burgers are my favorite for lunch time and they really do fill you up! The staff every time I go in are very friendly! Denny's and IHOP just do not compare! read more

I love this place! Stephanie is an awesome waitress. My boyfriend and I always came in here for brunch and never had a bad experience.

Came here looking forward to the salad bar! The olives, onions, and cheese were rotten, smelling of food bourne illness. Yet Nassiri, our waitress, was very nice. The Red Gold tomato ketchup tastes like spoiled tomatoes smell. And the pudding tasted like rubber. But I do believe they are aware of the food not being fresh and don't care. Too bad, read more

It's pretty much like a Denny's. Service is kinda good. The restaurant has tons of history. The food tastes decent. C+/B-

The food was not good. Mashed potatoes from powder and "rib eye" thinner than I have ever seen. I thought it was the flat steak and the waitress told me no that the flat steak was thicker! I sent it back. My husband said the beans tasted like paste that was 2 days old. Sent back tea as it was not drinkable. Will not be back. read more

I don't really expect anything exceptional from a local diner because it is what it is, but lets talk about the horrible service. My husband and I were seated at a booth by a manager and he got us our drinks. It was maybe 10 minutes later that the manager flagged down a waitress to come take our order. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, so maybe we weren't in anyone's assigned section. She came by to take our order and that's the last we saw of her from a while. The manager had to come give us refills. By the time we saw our waitress again she was delivering us the food. The cooks forgot to dress my husband's burger appropriately so he got a plate of side items that he had to put on himself. When our waitress came back by she asked us if we wanted to go cups for our drinks. We weren't even finished eating, so I have no idea why she asked us that. To rush us out of there maybe? Not like it was around closing time or anything, so I have no idea what the logic behind a to-go cup was as opposed to just filling my glass. I noticed that it wasn't just this particular server that was a little off. The rest of the customers had trouble flagging down their servers and looked pretty disappointed in the service they were getting as well. When she brought our bill I requested a slice of pie. She made a comment about how pie makes you fat, which is utterly disrespectful and rude considering I'm a bit overweight. That kind of customer service gets a lonely one star. read more

Nice personnel and friendly service. I was a client for more than a year, consistently eat there almost daily and certainly got to know the kind and attentive staff. One night several months ago I ordered a steak dinner and at the first bite, a bone chip got stuck in my throat, and drinking water only made it worse. Somehow, I thought I got the issue cleared, after gagging, coughing, and spitting out aloud. The waitress did not seem to be concerned as I said I choked on a bone in the streak. Obviously, I did not try easing anything more......and was into Enloe ER later that early more where the bone fragment was removed by the oral surgeon. read more

Usually go here once a week with my mother in law. She loves this place. Not anymore. Our normally ok breakfast was not good and when she asked to have hers taken off the check because she couldn't eat it the usually friendly waitress raised her voice saying well you already ate half of it. She had maybe 2 bites! It was embarrassing and awkward. We will not be returning. read more

Went in to place an order to go. They wrote my order up. And the manager waited for the waitress to place the order. Sat there for awhile asked manager can you please put my order in. Just got my mom from the hospital and looked at me and said this is not a fast food restaurant. Rude as can be we have been a in the restaurant in the past. Was very disappointed read more

We were looking forward to a nice juicy burger after reading other reviews, so we each ordered the "Frisco" burger with sour dough French bread, tomatoes and Thousand island dressing. Unfortunately, the burger came out with nothing but onions and a bit of lettuce on the side, not enough for both halves, no tomatoes at all. The toast was soggy, and not very sourdough, and the hamburger meat was not ample, dry and starting to turn. The dressing didn't reach the edge of the toast. The manager tried to make it right by bringing out anemic slices of tomato to add to our burgers (this is California in the heart of tomato harvest- you can get ripe tomatoes on the side of the road). in his defense, he gave us plenty of coffee, and the onion rings and fries were good. read more

Great place for breakfast, lunch or dinner. I really enjoy my dinner there, food and service was great.

The kitchen forgot about my order, waited an extra 30 mins for my food and I received it once my whole party was leaving. The manager was very rude and did nothing about the incident. Will never be returning... read more

Kinda dirty, food was just ok. Defently could use a complete remodel and cleaning. To afraid to go back.

Poor dining experience. I ordered fish and chips; what a mistake. Not edible. I will never go back.

Since the moment we sat down we were being taken care of. There was nvr a moment I didn't have an empty drink and our server all came to check up on us. She even just set the check down on the table without us knowing so we didn't have to ask for it.. this was a great experience and I would recommended coming here for breakfast and a plus the food is amazing and cheap. read more

I go there almost every Saturday for breakfast. Loretta is our waitress in the larger room and she is great! Cris is a friendly great person and waitress who was my waitress when I first started going there a few years back but our crew and waistlines got larger so we had to relocate into the larger room. No complaints ever with the waitresses! read more

Great food. Terrible service. Yelp gets a single star for saying that this review is not long enough

The food was OK, but we purchased 2 orders of bread pudding to go and had them for dessert. The bread pudding did not have any cinnamon in it and was dry. I would not purchase it again. Not my mother's bread pudding, for sure! read more

Please avoid their steaks- thin, poor quality shoe leather unsuitable for your dog to gnaw on. Their salad is lettuce and a couple croutons, clam chowder is too thick and tasteless. That said, the burgers, chicken fried steak and broasted chicken are very good. Great service, manager makes you feel welcomed. read more
