A great location with a great concept. I met a friend for lunch on a Wednesday and it was relatively empty. We got seated right away and had fast service. Chips and salsa came out and was very tasty. I got the Mi Madre Salad with carne asada and really enjoyed it. It was discounted for lunch yet so much steak and salad that I took some home because I couldn't finish it. Great food, decent prices, great selection. Can't go wrong here.

Really disappointed with our experience we came a little before 3. When there brunch ends and we knew exactly what we wanted. We asked if they were still doing bottomless mimosas and they said no. Which we were okay with but since they couldn't offer us that option we asked if it was possible to order a bottle of champagne with oj since they couldn't accommodate our bottomless mimosas even tho it was before 3 pm but they still wanted to charge for Oj. If brunch says it ends at 3 I think they should have honored that. Seeing that the restaurant was pretty empty. My husband also wanted either posole or menudo which is on the brunch menu and when we asked the server what soups they served she only gave us the option of albondigas soup. I felt like our server rushed us. All around it wasn't a good experience .

The food was plain. Their salsa was hot and didn't taste good. The only thing was ok, was the rice. I got the chicken tacos and they were not good at all. The service was ok . I'm not going there again.

The food and drinks were amazing! Everything came out exactly as ordered, was very fresh and tasted delicious. The happy hour portions are generous, low priced and great for sharing!

Super cute place. Was close to our hotel and recommended by the front desk. The food was food. Wish the service was a little better, had to call people over to get napkins, drink refills, etc., but the staff were super kind.

If you're looking for the ultimate Taco Tuesday in SoCal, Kalaveras is the move. The vibe is always lively with music, bright décor, and a fun atmosphere that makes it feel like a weekly fiesta. The tacos are on point--fresh tortillas, juicy meat, and packed with flavor. I went with the lengua tacos (beef tongue), and they were melt-in-your-mouth tender, topped with onions, cilantro, and salsa that actually has a kick. The plate even came with fresh lime, cucumber slices, and lemon to cut the richness--perfect touch. Prices are solid for the quality you get, and the happy hour drink specials make it even better. Service is quick, and even on a busy Tuesday, the staff keeps the energy up and the food coming fast. Pro tip: get there a little early because this place fills up fast on Taco Tuesday. Grab a margarita, order a few tacos, and enjoy the best deal in town. Verdict: Kalaveras easily lives up to the hype--Taco Tuesday here is unmatched. Shoutout the waiter Jr!

Lunch is not recommended. Went for lunch with friends. Not a good experience. Not busy. Service spotty. Several wait staff asked if we had been served or want drinks. Requested menus twice. Requested water twice. Asked if we would like anything else I mentioned that I had not received my order...yet. She retrieved it. It had been waiting. Not chips and salsa were ever provided. The food is marginal. The taco special is actually a do it yourself buffet of small street tacos. The meat is dry. Parking can be challenging. Street parking and a small pay lot near by. I will not return for a fourth try.

I am very excited to stay. This restaurant is absolutely delicious. The food was incredible. It looks fabulous. Our waiter Angel did a really good job. Job at serving us thank you very much.

Absolutely amazing food. The chips and salsa were great. We (6 people) went through 5 baskets of them. I split the wet burrito with red sauce and shrimp enchiladas with my mom. Both were fabulous and we still had leftovers. Our server Jaime was excellent. Would definitely come back at the next available opportunity.

Carne asada loaded fries (HH menu)

Happy hour menu is where it's at. The first carne asada loaded fries were delicious but the second one we got later on were not good (only reason for the 4 stars). Not pictured are the pitchers of margaritas we ordered (strawberry and pineapple) that were so delicious and strong. Service was a little slow but very nice. They were slammed and obviously under staffed so we didn't mind plus the drinks were strong.

We walked from her home to the Maritime Museum to watch the tree lighting ceremony. I enjoyed seeing all the little kids excited about Christmas and freaking out when the tree was lit. I loved seeing entire families walking up and down the waterfront and seeing the changes that are coming to what used to be Ports O' Call. My friend was eager to show me her new hometown and all of the places she likes. We grabbed a bite to eat at the San Pedro Brew Co. and then walked on over to her favorite place - Godmothers. It's a classic dive bar but Godmothers was happening! I could tell that it's a local's hangout - everyone knew everyone. We were joined by my friend's new "Pedro" friends and that's when it got fun - those girls knew everyone! Loved the music that was playing, played a couple of rounds of pool, they ordered rounds (and rounds) of drinks, danced, talked to lots of people and made new friends. There was no attitude from anyone, the place is charming in its own way, had a great and friendly vibe. My friend and her new friends are night owls. I'm most definitely not and I had to be somewhere at 6 a.m. the next morning so I didn't feel bad leaving early while they stayed and, according to my friend, "had the best time ever." I hadn't been out in a while, and I'm glad I went; it was a fun night, nice to be out of my zip code, check out a new place, be social, and it was good to see my friend happy and thriving in her new home and hometown. I'm sure I'll be back to Godmother's next time I visit.

I once heard someone talk…read moreabout how each person needs three places to be happy-- a job that fits well, a home that feels peaceful and the third place is one where one feels like one with the crowd. They are just a regular person, not their woes, hopes, titles (or lack there of), they are another joe/jane/jonx, and are seen as such, with respect and acceptance. I do not know if Crimsin has become my third place, I love the gym, and places where I am invited to romp, and places where culture has esteem, but this place is definitely a place where I feel engaged by the mood, vibe, staff, and possibility so maybe one day in the future this place will be my third, I just can't say that, today. This place is definitely a dive bar--- meaning one comes for the beers and the shots, not necessarily to be impressed on transported by a mixologist. For me that was a point against the house of Crimsin, but then an unlikely hero came into play: Channel. I think I got her name right, I can easily see how an S can replaced the C. Whether her name is spelled with an S or C, one thing is clear, her talents are a gift to this place. I described to her how I do not really like the taste of alcohol, thus I gravitate toward drinks that are sugary cocktails. She took my limited explanation and concocted a raspberry lemon drop worthy of being held by a rom-com heroine as she described her latest fancy-free quarrel with her best friend in a NY hot-spot. Of course, both the heroine and the the bff have french tip nails that are to die. Since understanding my flavor profile, and my proclivities toward glitz in sip, she has crafted wonderful drink after wonderful drink. I appreciate her candy apple cocktail, and her black bitters drink that she warned me about before sipping, real bitters were in the drink, so I may have to chew or straight-up gulp. If you are in the area, port before a cruise, or coming to or from the fish market, stop here and ask for her, if you tend to like a drink served in martini glass. However, Jules, another bartender from this joint recently made me a blueberry cocktail- that I loved to the last hearty sip- and she served in a regular glass. I always paired cocktails with martini glasses, like I imagine coffee on a mug, but if you let it cool morning coffee would taste just as good in milk glass. The place has a man-cave kind of feel for sure. In the back there is a pool table (put a quarter down if you wan to play) that is often populated. If you never play pool, find an opponent that is at your level, and you will grow to understand its purpose. But if you play someone better than you will just hate the game. More broadly, this is true about life, that is why equity for all lives matter. They also have televisions that play all major events, and a juke box of modern times, where you can pay via an app. So this place has all the trimmings needed for a good time at bar, including a shuffle board table and a policy that allows you to bring in food from nearby eaters, or I guess even from your home. Another bar tender that you should ask for is Garrett. I stopped going for a while and then he made me feel like I could come back once and again. I really cannot remember how he did that so the words of Virgil are true--- people will often forget what you said, but you never forget how they made you feel. Weird how one can be nostalgic for a bar, but I can also see if you have. bar to call your own, that seems more ordinary than unique. A lot of people like Garrett he has this salt-to--the earth kind of vibe, which reminds most goers, that someone human can listen to you and respond with simple words that ring true, in a super good easy way. Visit Crimsin and make a Tuesday or Wednesday one where something fun can happen.

We really wanted to hear some latin music while we eat. We were dissapointed since the dj or live band was set to start late. It was already 1030pm, no music to vibe too. Just to give you a heads up, there are two locations. Long Beach and Costa Mesa. The one in Costa Mesa displays shows like Flocorica dancing and live latin bands. Long Beach, not so much Overall, the food, service and latin ambience was great. I would comeback and try again.

If you want good paella, do not come here…read more This was honestly the worst paella I've ever had, which was really disappointing because the restaurant itself had a nice atmosphere and live music. We ordered a half seafood and half meat paella, with added lobster and pork belly. Unfortunately, the actual food was terrible. Main issues: * The bottom of the seafood side was completely black and burnt instead of having a crispy socarrat. There's a huge difference between crispy rice and burnt rice. * The lobster was severely overcooked, burnt, and tasted terrible. * The pork belly was an extra charge, but there was barely any visible pork belly in the dish. It honestly just looked like tiny bacon pieces. * All of the meat throughout the paella was severely overcooked. Positives: * Our waiter was very nice. * The ambiance was good. * The live music added a fun vibe. * It was my birthday, so they gave me a complimentary ice cream dessert at the end, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, none of that made up for how bad the paella itself was.
