I have known about this restaurant for a long time as I have been going to their other San Pedro location for years. In terms of the parallels, this location has the same menu which offers a lot of good options, some on the health side of the spectrum for you vegans and vegetarians. In terms of lay out, this is a fairly large restaurant. They have two dining spaces on both sides of their main entrance, as well as a number of outdoor tables. They have booths and individual tables on both sides of the interior dining areas. The overall feel of the restaurant is open This restaurant has their kitchen central to the restaurant, so, if you want to view your food being prepared, this place is for you. Now, I don't know if this just occurred when I checked this restaurant out for the first time, but when I asked for my check I was told to go to the front to pay. Which, at least at that moment, was very crowded and cramped. At their other location they always bring me my check without asking. And yes, you can pay at the front counter or more commonly the server takes care of it for the customer. I believe this method simply works better. One way or the other, this restaurant has an open atmosphere with some good food. read more

This place is getting ridiculously expensive! Off the charts pricey if I may say so myself! Food is average but you will definitely be overpaying for what you get! A Denver omelette here has barely any ham in it and veggies are not so fresh! For a party of 2 and a omelette to go the bill was an outstanding $80.00!!! It's funny because I noticed a vegetarian from an earlier review of this place saying they put little bits of meat in her breakfast burrito. She included a picture and that is exactly how mine came out too. The difference is I am not vegetarian. The menu says the breakfast burrito comes with sausage and bacon. There was definitely no sausage. I think the tiny specks of meat may have been bacon. They were too small to say for sure. The burrito was supposed to come with pico de gallo and cheese as well. There was literally one tiny piece of diced tomato and one bite of cheese in the entire burrito. So what did it come with then? It was about 90% boiled potato. My aunt brought my mom and I here for breakfast the other day and I opted for the Meat Lovers Omelette. Our waitress brought me my plate with the food almost hanging off and some hash brown fell, sloppy work. She was also inattentive but it is what it is. Back to the food, I was a little over it after the first few bites and the hash brown had somewhat of a weird flavor. Roy is having the Spanish omelette they have traditional diner food, but they also have some bomb Mexican dishes that are totally legit and I've liked everything. I've tried here and at their other locations. This is a family business and it's very consistent and there's always a family member present making sure everything is right. Give it a try. They have a big selection, with breakfast being their "best". Food is delicious, and they will happily adjust your order to your request/diet ( I do it all the time). I feel like we get a good value for the money. They are very good about keeping your drinks filled, and the food comes up quick after you order. Parking at this location can get packed, so sometimes we choose to park on the street ( spaces are close together). Two restrooms available at this location, both large enough to accommodate handicapped access. It can get crowded, especially early in the day, so be prepared. The downside: the noise. It's very noisy. You will not have an "intimate dining experience", that's for sure. If you are looking for that, this isn't your place. There is one bus boy and one very loud waitress that works on the weekend, plus the kitchen staff are always dropping things and making noise (the kitchen is up front and out in the open). For a family outing ( that's what we are... a family of four), it's just fine, and doesn't bother us. ENJOY! read more

I didn't know a place like this existed. I came with a friend from work who was familiar with the area and she knew of this place. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted and treated like family. I watched as other customers came in after me, and the staff knew them by first name. We sat in their spacious dining area and I ordered the San Pedro Burrito. It came recommended by the server. When my food came, the server brought both red and green sauce to go with my food. After cutting the burrito in half, you could see and feel the steam coming out of it! It was hot and you could see the melted cheese spreading as I pulled the burrito apart. You could tell, this place cooks their food with their hearts and every dish has it's own personal touch from the cooks. Please stop by and try this place. You will be pleasantly surprised. Stopped here to pick up my order and asked to add a coffee to the order, the young lady at the register provided me with a coffee at no additional charge! Drove past here many times unaware of this hidden gem. I am extremely satisfied with my experience today (1/6/2024 11am) the food and service was amazing! It was definitely loud , fast paced, and packed in there so if you're not into that then this isn't the place for you. I personally had a great time. I would like to add that although it was very busy we never felt rushed while eating and the staff was very attentive We had a banana nut waffle Breakfast sandwich Large Order of fries 2 fried peppers/ jalapeño 2 coffees For just around $37 All items were brought to our table hot af and definitely tasted freshly made. The waffle was delicious, not overly sweet, banana/nut balance was perfect it does already come with some type of syrup so keep that in mind when ordering. Fries were slightly crispy on the outside but super soft and mushy on the inside, they did not taste of old oil or any other flavor besides yummy fries / seasoning. Plus they keep their ketchup refrigerated which absolutely added to the pleasant tasting experience because the fries were piping hot ! We also requested ranch which wasn't an additional charge. The breakfast sandwich had the perfect balance of everything it was not overly seasoned or salted and the tomato was perfect. Coffee was amazing I got 2 refills and one to go we were asked plenty of times if we wanted a refill never had to waive them down for one. Burgers, dogs, fries, cooked fresh on the spot, not ahead of time. Salad, fresh fruit, drinks condiments (no BS ketchup, Heinz!). They arrived in their food truck, set it up in 15 minutes. Organized and ready to go. Big shout out to their 2 man crew, Roman and Octavio! Reasonable price, too, $14 bucks a head. Our party of 3 had a stack of pancakes for one, turkey bacon and potatoes and toast for another, while I had Buffalo Fries, yum! I always think Buffalo Chicken is too sour, probably from the Trail of Tears of Native Americans. But it's just that perfect American taste that you can sometimes crave. I put their in house pico de Gallo salsa on it to add the perfect kick. These french fries were cooked to perfection. Happy Diner #2 is on Gaffey as their second location. Stopped by San Pedro before visiting the tide pools nearby and grabbed brunch at Happy Diner. If you're ever in the area, you MUST try it! The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. I got the Carnitas Rancheras and it was AMAZING. The meat was tender so flavorful! The sauce that came with it also really pulled the dish together! My only regret is not having a larger stomach to finish all the food. The Machaca Scrambler was also solid, but I think the Carnitas Rancheras just packed a much better punch. read more
