Oh wow, I didn't know this place exist here at Hilo town…read more While at the Hilo Farmer's Market , I met a lady at one of the booth and she recommended Garden Exchange. I was on the hunt for Culantro plant for my mom. We searched all over while shopping for veggie plants back on Oahu. Excited, I asked my hubby to take me to the Garden Exchange, I could have walked over but didn't know it was so close by, one street over from the Farmer's Market. FYI- Parking is located on the other side/back of Garden Exchange not on the main street. I asked a kind staff to guide me to where the Culantro were and killed 2 birds with one stone, I also asked if they have any Hoya plants. I loved looking at the plant selection they have. I ended up with 2 Culantro and came across a beautiful Hoya plant on trellis and for such a great price, I had to get it. Happy with my Hoya plant and culantro for my momma during this visit. I wasn't sure if it would clear agriculture inspection back at the airport, but glad it did. Not sure why the low ratings but I loved my first time visit, I LOVE plants, staff that helped me were all so friendly. Garden Exchange is a well established gardening store, located in Hilo with history dating back to 1964. Make a stop here for your garden needs, super huge store! Keep in mind, Plants are All Sales Final!! I hope there will be more Hoya and hope they have more selections when I visit again.

We have purchased many pieces of furniture, plants, art and decor from Paradise Plants over the years. Objectively speaking we have come to realize over time that our purchases from Paradise Plants were all superior in quality and often times the same price as the pieces we bought from other stores both on-island and the ones we had shipped to the island that were far inferior in look and build quality. We purchased some pretty beds from Home World. They look great, however they are very cheaply made and we have had to rebuild all of the internal parts to make them stronger as they all broke in the first year. This was a great expense. Home World sells particle board junk. We noticed the beds we purchased from Paradise Pants had solid aluminum supports instead of cheap particle board. They are all super sturdy and look amazing and were the same price as the Home World particle board junk. Paradise Plants sells quality, unique, indoor furniture at excellent prices. Bamboo and Teak down the road is also good, but mostly used stuff so a bit like shopping at a garage sale, but sometimes you get lucky. Paradise Plants has new, gorgeous pieces every time we go in all at a good price. They also have an excellent outdoor furniture brand called Lagoon that is perfect for the environment here on the island. So far, It's the only outdoor furniture that has survived at our salty oceanfront locations and our corrosive Volcano location. That brand of outdoor furniture is Puna proof! It has no steel to get rusty and is all strong durable plastics and/or non-corroding aluminum. Very happy with quality and price as none of these end up in a landfill after 1-2 years like every other brand we tried. From price, quality/longevity, beauty of pieces, to their excellent customer service and ability to deliver and setup all pieces and have a great customer experience, you won't find a better store that is locally owned and operated employing great local people.

I was told by a gentleman who was in charge of garden pots that I could buy some pots at a sale price bc there were just a few left, so I did and love them. Came back to buy the two that were left and the owner refused to honor his sales price, saying they were new and he shouldn't have done that. I left, remembering that it was not just a bad day for her but that previously she refused to let my service dog on he premises even though we had been there a few other times. Just such a buzzkill and not a place I recommend

Fantastic service and quality work from father and son team, Raymond and Bryson…read more We needed a lot of ugly deep roots from a previous ground crawling plant in the front yard to be cleaned up. Gave Ray from RNB a call to come by to check it out and get an estimate to cleaning up those nasty roots and make an evenly slope with gravel. He came in no time and gave me a good estimate for the front yard and also a drainage problem in the driveway area. Scheduled, there was good communication through out the process. He was easy to talk to, they do solid efficient work. Two days later it was all done and very satisfied with the end result. Will be recommending for sure.

Outstanding Landscaping & Hardscape Work -- RNB Land Services (Hilo / Big Island)…read more Ray (the owner) and his crew at RNB Land Services have been absolutely incredible to work with. If you're looking for a reliable, professional landscaper in Hilo or on the Big Island, we highly recommend Ray. They completed three major phases of landscaping and hardscape work at our home in Pepeekeo, and the transformation has been amazing. Phase 1: Ray redesigned our front entrance and pool area with beautiful lava rock pavers, lava stone landscape edging, and lava rock gravel fill. He also selected outstanding tropical plants and vibrant ti leaves that made the whole space feel like a resort. Phase 2: They landscaped our driveway and gated entrance, adding great plantings, tall areca palms for privacy, and lining the driveway with elegant foxtail palms. The curb appeal is truly next level. Phase 3: Ray and his team planted over 75 areca palms along the edge of our property to create a lush privacy hedge, and it turned out even better than we hoped. Ray and his team were always professional, polite, and dependable, and they took great care to keep the work areas clean and tidy every day. Ray also gave us excellent advice on the best practices for both planting and hardscape, and he went out of his way to source the best-quality plants at the best prices. His quotes were accurate, fair, and very reasonable -- no surprises. If you need landscaping, hardscape, or property maintenance in the Hilo area, Ray and RNB Land Services are the real deal. We would hire them again in a heartbeat. Aloha, Greg and Nicki Darrow Pepeekeo, HI
