Kailua House just opened in May 2024 after (New) Chinese Garden closed in April 2024. Kailua House did close for a few days to do a little renovation in the Kitchen and part of the front area. The restaurant still had the same look as the previous restaurant and nothing fancy. Owners and their families were really nice. They have their new menu out and if you don't happen to see your favorites dishes on the menu, you can let them know and if they have the ingredients, they can make it. There are some dishes Sandy pointed out to me if I was interested in their chef special of beef or pork gyudon or Oxtail soup. Also mentioned they may have some pho available later. Sandy had a Pho restaurant before. Kailua House plans to have dim sum soon to order and Manapua. The family business (Sister & brother with their families) previously own several restaurant businesses before in town and Kailua. I'm looking forward to their dim sum to go. We need a dim sum place in Kailua. The place was really casual yet cozy. They have a nice private parking lot! Sandy, one of the partner, was really nice and helpful. I ordered the char siu and duck combo. Although it wasn't the best I've tried, it was flavorful and good. Looking forward in trying the other dishes and dim sum later.

Sadly disappointing. My husband saw this place on Cheap Eats soon after it opened so I was excited to give it a try. I ordered the lunch plate to sample a variety: crispy fried chicken, beef & broccoli chow mein, kau yuk, crispy gau gee, white rice. Plus mango smoothie to drink. The service was slow and inattentive. In fact, I overheard the servers apologizing to a few people in the restaurant for delays and such since the place is under new ownership and working out a few issues. By the time my lunch arrived, it was cold. Our server hadn't provided utensils, napkins or asked if we needed anything else (like mustard). The gau gee was extra crispy (almost burned) but at least that was still warm and the meat inside flavorful. Sadly, the gau gee and the rice were the tastiest things on my plate. The beef was rubbery, the pork too sweet, noodles dry even though floating in sauce, and the broccoli tips soggy. Worst of all, after I tasted everything I realized there was a crack in my plate! Cracks in dishes are breeding grounds for bacteria that can contaminate food. Glad I didn't eat most of it. Even my mango smoothie was bland and didn't taste much like mango. I only drank half of it. The floor was dirty and the whole place looked like it could use a good scrubbing. And hey Cheap Eats, this place wasn't cheap either at $44 for two lunch plates with beverages. My friend didn't think the food was that bad and said she liked the noodles. She felt the place rated two stars instead of the one star I would give, maybe because she arrived much hungrier than me. My friend also took home my mostly uneaten meat for her dog. Maybe he won't be as disappointed as I was.

Amazing, Customer Service Amazing, Food Amazing!

Can't say enough wonderful things, dim sum, gau ghee, shrimp canton, bake manapua is awesome!

Second time here.... loved the egg tart and shrimp har gow.

Food is fresh and made to order. The friendly owner informed us that he will be opening early (8:30) in August for dim sum. Egg tarts for breakfast!

Shrimp dimsum and steamed char siu bao

Staff is super friendly and warm. Dining room is average but clean and tidy. Shrimp dimsum and steamed char siu bao are my favorites from here. I just tried their egg tarts today too and they are one of the best I've had!

    Jiandui baked char siu bao

Now open 10am to 830pm. All baos and dim sum are available .for the lunar new year Gau and Jai are available for sale

After being opened for a week I thought the food might be tasty. Boy, was I disappointed. First of all, there was not a single soul in there, and the phone didn't ring once while I was there. I decided to order a few different kinds of foods just to get an idea of what this place would be all about. The first thing I noticed is that the items are about $1-2 dollars more than the average restaurant. I ordered Won Ton Soup, Salt and Pepper Pork Chop, and Cold Ginger Chicken. The pork chop was overcooked and thrown in the container in a sloppy way (I guess presentation doesn't matter). The Ginger Chicken was sitting in oil with the ginger, and the onion was dry sitting atop the chicken. They did not grate the Ginger good as there were tons of that hairy stringy part everywhere. The soup was bland along with the vegetables, and I could literally drink the mustard straight out of the container because it was so watery. The floor was dull and dirty, and the chairs looked like it had loose fitting cloth. You would think that new owners might make things look clean and new. Well, I will stick to the Enchanted Lake Chinese Restaurant.

My cousin's two kids love this place and insisted it has the best fried rice. I'm usually not a big fried rice person, but I was curious and tried it. I can see why people like it. I ordered the shrimp katsu ramen with a shoyu egg. The broth and noodles were excellent and really the highlight of the dish. I wasn't a huge fan of the shrimp katsu on its own since it was a bit chewy, but once it soaked in the broth, it was much better. The portion size was just right, filling without being too much. Overall, a solid ramen spot, especially if you're already in Kailua.

How lucky was that!? This "minor misfortune" of the long line resulted in my sampling an extraordinary Bahn Mi sandwich. I'll keep this short, and simply share that the lemongrass chicken version of their Bahn, was, as the kids say these days, "FIRE!" . I'm embarrassed to say that I only discovered Bahn mi sandwiches about 3 years ago, but have loved them ever since. The overall experience of chomping down on a typical Bahn mi is that the combination of textures that come from the marriage of "crisp on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside" bread, and the soft flavorful meats and crunchy vegetables is pleasurable. But toss in the flavors that range from savory to tangy to sweet, and then off to spicy, are pretty-much as close to the definition of what a harmonious and complementary meal, that excites the tastebuds, should be. I've probably had 30 of them in my life, and I would say, Saigon Noodle puts one together that just moved into my personal favorite for this blended cultures sandwich. The owner served me, and he's one of those guys who you instantly like. It's hard to put words together to describe why he was so likable and pleasant, but on my visit, his "A-game" of friendliness and charm was on. But, even if he had a "Bahn Mi Nazi" personality, I'd still go for the sam-ich. It was really good!!

I remember my first noods, and because the foods so good, I know I won't forget how good it is…read more If you didn't know, the first noods location is actually in Kaimuki, which is the first time I tried their ramen. So of course, I was in the area and I am a biiiig ramen lover, I had to try this location. I've tried an abundant of ramen from Noods, but my go-to is their vegan ramens because they have so many options and I could use a little vegan meal in my life every now and then (because of my acne). The ambiance may not be a restaurant, but it's ramen, you can't be asking for much, just good food and good place to enjoy. Since this location is in a food court, it's gotta have fast service, which it did. Service is also a lot more simple than the restaurant because over here you order in one area and then you have to pick it up at the other end when it's ready. The food court provides ample seating, but I suggest grabbing a seat first before ordering so that you get a table near the ramen bar and you don't have to walk far with a large bowl of ramen across a busy food court. Overall, the ramen(s) I've eaten here have lived up to the standard I expect from Noods, which is great. This means you don't have to go all the way to Kaimuki to get some good, quality ramen.

Adela's is a small, take-out order only place, but extremely busy. We phoned in the order ahead of time and the wait time was about 45 mins. We got the Sweet Potato Noodles with Garlic Butter and Lechon. Gracious, it was delicious. Worth every penny. The lechon was crispy, tender, and flavorful. The noodles had the perfect texture and paired flawlessly with the garlic butter. We also got Okinawan Sweet Potato Poi Bread, but this unfortunately was blown out of the water by the noodles. They indeed seemed to be very popular as I could see how busy the place was when we picked up ours. It's also a to-go concept only so we enjoyed our pasta at the bench right next to the venue. The pasta was organic and all homemade from peculiar natural ingredients including moringa, taro, sweet potato, bread fruit, avocado, and local saimin. The one serving us was so nice and attentive, which indeed seemed to be needed here given how rich selections they offered. You got the option to pick your own choice of pasta, sauce, and protein or went for their combo. We opted for the latter as we got their Lechon Malunggay Pasta, which was Moringa pasta with roasted pork belly. Portion was HUGEEE and certainly shareable unless your appetite was so big. Meat to pasta ratio was also super general. The pork was cooked to perfection with flawlessly crispy skin yet juicy meat. The pasta came in just the right texture and was already flavorful on its own. You could pick spiciness level for which we took mild and we thought we should've gone for spicy. We also got Ube cheesecake for dessert that was also gigantic LOL. We finished it finally after multiple servings and it was still so good despite kept in fridge overnight. Dense yet not overwhelming and the ube flavor was so strong and I could tell it used real ube. This place was seriously MUST GO!
