It's been a long time since I went to a Chinatown Express and I must say it was much better than I had anticipated! I had a dentist appointment this afternoon, and after I left the dentist office, it was getting late & I figured it would be faster if I stopped by Windward Mall to pick up some food for my dad from Chinatown Express. Chinatown Express is located at the food court inside of Windward Mall, the food at Chinatown Express is similar to like a Panda Express with the exception that Chinatown Express has more options - like roasted Chinese meats like - Char Siu, Roast Duck, & Roast Pork. They also sold my beloved Rice Cakes, Coconut Layered Rice Cake, Almond Cookies, Tea Cookies, & Shrimp Chips among the offerings. The prices for their plates at Chinatown Express are in line with most other Chinese fast-food places. Service here was friendly & on point, the restaurant is located in a food court, so you know it's basically a "grab & go" kinda joint, but if you really want to eat your food right away, not to worry because the food court has plenty of seating. I'm glad I stopped by Chinatown Express today, as it really helped me out of a jam, especially when I'm pressed for time. read more

Our favorite go-to for a FULL plate of Chinese food. We drive over Likelike just to eat their sweet sour pork, char siu fried rice and duck! Singapore noodles is hit or miss, but still good. Fast and friendly service, clean counter area. The portions are huge for a decent price. It's usually 2 meals worth. read more

I ordered a 2 choice plate lunch today for lunch. There wasn't a line as it was early and they just opened. It's similar to the old Patti's Chinese Kitchen with your choice of rice, fried rice, chow fun, noodles and all of the usual entrees. I went with noodles, eggplant and tofu and cold ginger chicken. Everything tasted good and the gentleman really packed the plate full! The eggplant and tofu had a slightly sweet taste but it was ok. I like that there wasn't any uncooked eggplant in the mix. The cold ginger chicken was good and I like that the sauce was served in a separate container. I would say it was a good value for the money. The 2 choice plate is $13.00. read more

I wasn't planning on eating here, but the line was long. When people wait in line the food must be good, so I tried it out. I got the two entree combo with half Singapore noodles and half chow fun $12.25. My two entrees were sweet & sour spareribs and cold ginger onion chicken. They gave so much food that my plate was overflowing. It was around 7pm and I noticed that the sweet & sour spareribs were almost out. However, I saw them bringing out other entrees. I asked if they were going to make more spareribs. The cashier told me 10 minutes, so I waited. I'm so happy I did. The food was so good, especially at a food court. The Singapore noodles had a strong curry flavor and the chow fun had the perfect chew to it. The sweet & sour spareribs were perfect. It wasn't too sweet and it wasn't too sour, just right down the middle. The ginger onion sauce was chefs kiss. I just wish they gave me two containers as one wasn't enough for all that chicken. This place was definitely a great deal and the food was good. I can understand why there's always a line. read more

Yuck. Ordered a 1/2 noodle, 1/2 fried rice 2 entree plate. Noodles were hard, dry and tasteless. Fried (not) rice was lumpy and dry with no flavor. "Beef" and broccoli had only 2 pieces of meat-one was gristle and chewy and wouldn't break down. (Not beef!) BBQ chicken was burnt -didn't taste like barbecue, tasted like charcoal. I asked for a small water and they wanted to charge .75. Ah, no. Would not recommend or eat here again. read more

Everyone here knows their plates are worth the money, tastes great and they give a lot of food but who knew their take out trays are great for parties? I ordered a small tray of chow funn for $35.95 and I was only expecting it to look like the chow funn they display for the choice plates but this was even better, it was loaded with char siu! The tray was literally 10 pounds of goodness and a generous portion. This is my new catering place when I need a pot luck dish. This is my favorite Chinese place in Kaneohe. You'll always find long lines for a good reason! read more

Absolutely worst service in food court. Poor customer service keeping track of order. I wouldn't recommend u trust food or service here

Whenever I come to the food court in Windward Mall, I'm always drawn to Chinatown Express. The food is quick and plentiful. I always feel I get my money's worth. There can be a line at times, but they work quick so you never have to wait long. The menu is easy to follow and I love that they sell dimsum throughout the day. You can also order them individually if you're want just one. But it is subject to availability. They can sell out quick. My go-to order is the Singapore noodles with bittermelon beef. I notice those dishes don't move as quickly as others, so I'm happy to order them. The noodles have a hint of curry, and the bittermelon gives you a nice crunch and flavor. read more

Chinatown Express is a place that has bang for your buck. I went with the four choices with a drink for less than $20. Each item has good flavor and your pallet will explore the sweet, salty, tangy, smoky, and charred taste of each dish. The service was friendly and quick. While located in the mall, the areas are constantly being monitored and cleaned. You can always flag down the worker to have the table wiped down. A great place for cheaps! read more

Really solid meal overall. The orange chicken was soft, flavorful, and one of the highlights of the visit. The Singaporean noodles had that nostalgic, well-seasoned taste that really hit the spot, and the beef and broccoli was tender with fresh vegetables. Portions were big and very satisfying, easily enough to fill you up. Everything came out hot and tasted fresh. Definitely a place I'd come back to when I'm craving classic takeout-style dishes done right. read more

A generous express... Located in Pa'ina Ko'olau Food Court of Windward Mall there Chinatown Express and yes the authenticity may be a slight askew the variety they offer here in a food court setting is quite impressive in my opinion like fish of the day (flounder today), Shanghai Noodles, Cold Ginger Chicken, Bitter Melon with Beef just to name a few. The gentleman that helped me was quiet but very polite and though I was hungry I had a feeling that I should've ordered a one choice plate though did two at $11.75 as everything just looked so yummy and is a great deal. Gosh what a plate...insanely generous portion and that alone wasn't the five stars it was the food, I absolutely loved that it wasn't salty and seasoned just right and yes I was hungry but there's no way I could come close to finishing the entire plate. This express offers so much speciality items like wonton mein (which has shrimp), congee, oven baked items and dim sum as well which I need to try the next time and be sure not let my belly do the ordering. Thank you! read more

Normally I don't post but today was a real dealbreaker. chinatown Express is a hit or miss daily. The old woman serves me portions that fit exactly into the plate provided but I look in front and in back of me and she piles on more for others; the young man and woman is good though. The rice can be under steamed, not sticky fluffy rice but more like Uncle Ben's rice. Besides the sketchy service it is tasty and decent real Chinese food. 2 stars for inconsistent service that has been my observation for the last year and the not so steamed rice. Disappointed today with my purchase. read more

My son started to train in Chinese Martial Arts in close vicinity to the Windward Mall where this establishment is located. I send him here after his sessions to bring me home some roast pork and egg foo yung. Tasty, good portions, and hits to spot. Too bad yelp does not display a complete menu. This is great Chinese food. Try it! read more

The food portions are huge! They give such big portions of food for their dishes. The prices are very reasonable and expensive either. If you like grind some chinese food, you gotta check out Chinatown Express inside Windward Mall. Ho, da food is action. I wen order da two entree plate with char siu fried rice with sweet n sour pork an' minute chicken. Fried rice is one of da best in town. Da pork was crispy outside, sweet, and tangy sauce all ova, an da chicken was super tender, saucy, and full of flavor. Portion size? Enough fo feed me, my kids, and still get leftovers fo' da next day. Price? Cheaper than my ex's taste in shoes. JK but not jk. Service? Fast like aunty making plate lunch at da family party. Staff stay nice too. Line can get pretty long during lunch on da weekends. No mattah, always going be one of my go-to spots when I stay cruising Windward side. read more

Kudos to this location for the generous portions in their 2 entree plate. The heaping mound of chow funn and 2 entrees made the container bulge to the point that it barely closed! The spicy eggplant had a nice sauce on it, but the orange chicken had too.much sauce and was a little soggy. read more

Best roast pork and Char siu in Kaneohe. Awsome sweet sour spareribs. Huge size servings. Super tasting food.

We had just finished eating a late Hawaiian lunch at the Windward mall food court & I wanted to get some dim sum to bring home. It was a very busy Saturday at the mall on 7/13/24, as the parking lot was pretty fully. Chinatown Express is located in the food court area near the restrooms. They sell a few popular dim sum items & plate lunches. The layout is similar to the old Patti's Kitchen from back in the day. There is a good assortment of entrees & sides to choose from & you can get anywhere from 1 to 4 entrees. Prices ranged from $9.25 - $14.95 for the plates. They also have different congee, char siu, roast duck, or shoyu chicken by the lb, & you can get items a la carte. For dim sum, they have a small menu - manapua, lup cheong, pork hash, half moon, Jung, jin dui, & rice cake. I ordered 2 pork hash & 2 half moon. Each were a $1.50. I thought the prices were reasonable & they weren't skimpy. The pork hash was a decent size, not small like some places & very tasty. The half moon was pretty big. It measured 3" across & was pretty chunky. The dumpling part of the half moon had an interesting texture, not smooth like most half moon's I've had & dough not very thick. The filling had an interesting taste to it. It was filled with the usual finely chopped ingredients but it had a seasoning in it I could not place nor have had in others I've tasted. It was still good & just those pieces of dim sum filled me. The food in the heating pans looked like it was sitting for hours. Considering it was after 4:30PM, there was no line, only a couple of customers, & the pans were piled high. I'm not sure if I would eat their plates any time soon. The young girl that waited on me was nice & friendly, delivered good customer service. Overall, their menu prices are reasonable & friendly staff. It's not the best dim sum I've had but it's also not the worst. If you want a quick fix to satisfy your dim sum craving & can't get to Chinatown, this place would be ok. read more

My daughter and I got food from here and the food was descent for the price. I got a two item combo with a large drink for around $14 and some change. I got half fried rice and lo mein noodles with mushroom chicken and beef broccoli. My daughter enjoyed the noodles and the beef. The fried rice tasted like curry seasoning. The food was descent and okay and for the price they give you a lot in the container. Located inside the food court at Windward mall. Prices are pretty affordable compared to other food joints nearby. Tables are inside the food court. Plenty of seating during the week day. I definitely will come back here to eat when we are here. We decided to try this place today for lunch, and I must say that it did NOT disappoint one bit! The line that formed up front was a small hint of how popular the place is. With many options available to choose from I couldn't decide; I wanted to try everything. The food was spot on, DELICIOUS I just wish we had one closer to our area. Yummy and the portions for two choices cannot beat the price anywhere I've been to recently. Keep up the good food you make there. Aloha read more

Great customer service, also large food portions at reasonable prices. A good family outing to enjoy.

Great selection of food choices. Portions are very Generous, not like other Chinese Fast food places. It would be better if their Eggplant Tofu was NOT too sweet. Other than that, ther Service is Fast, food is Tasty and a 2 Choice plate would make 2-3 Servings of meals. Try this place out and see for yourself !!! read more

Look let's be real you aren't coming to a food court for an authentic Chinese food experience.. I will be completely honest when I come to windward mall with the family I tend to stick with my usual Bull Kogi or Blazin Steaks.. today though as I walked past the hot line I saw the Beef and bitter melon and I was sold. I opted for a 3 entree thinking id take it home and eat it for dinner.. I have probably had chinatown express one or two times before but I can say it's been years, so when the guy started piling up my plate I was shocked. I got half char siu fried rice half Singapore noodles my plate was over flowing I kid you not, my entree choices were Minute Chicken, Bitter melon beef and Roast pork (1.50 more) the price came out to 13-14 bucks honestly not that bad imo also for that amount of food it was a bargain. I get home and crack open the plate and I gotta say the noodles were delicious the fried rice was really good (better then pandas by a mile) but the Bitter Melon Beef I would do bad things for more of that I am definitely a bitter melon fan. The minute chicken was good and the roast pork was also tasty and crispy. I have to say I did not finish the plate in fact I was able to eat it for dinner the next night and seriously that one plate made a nice portion size for two nights of dinner.. I will definitely go back if anything just for the Beef and also I know their manapuas are bomb because my friends daughter wanted another one and she's a very picky eater. read more

Located in Windward mall food court they have a lot of different restaurants to choose from. They have pizza, Korean, Pho, Japanese besides burgers and other sandwiches. They have seating areas in the food court and around the food court area also upstairs on the 2nd floor. I tried the chow fun which was good so you pick a noodle or rice dish and you can pick from a single item or 2 items or 3 items which will change the prices and size of container your food goes in. My next pick was the minute chicken which was very tasty and tender. The 2 item was the Kau yuk which was very bland with no taste it was more like eating pork soaked in to red food coloring only and was not flavorful and dry for an items sitting in a sauce. Later I notice the worker taking pork from another pork dish and adding it into the Kau yuk pan? While in the mall you need to wear a mask unless you are eating, they also have a lot of hand sanitizer station around the mall. read more

Last night I had orange chicken and roast pork here with pink rice (first time I've seen that). Started eating in my car. Top layer... Ono (good). Right on! Then started tasting like sweat, spit and underarm. I'm 230 lbs and can count on 2 fingers how many plate lunches I've thrown away in my 61 years. This was one. Long story short (TMI warning): I'm writing this while sitting on the toilet waiting for the next round of explosions. I just hope they aren't those rumored to mix yesterday's cookings with today's cookings to save money. Never again. Plus they were not nice... like they wanted to go home. Takeout is getting spooky these days. read more

Quick pick Chinese fast food. While it's not a full menu restaurant since they are inside the mall, they are still good for what they have. It's better than panda imo for more local style items. I usually always get the bittermelon when I come here. So that's why I prefer here lol. You can mix your starch plain white rice fried rice singapore noodle chow mein chow fun etc. For a 1 choice lighter eater its good size portion. So if looking for a quick grab Chinese fast food instead of the bigger restaurants nearby its ok here. read more

Go to the Food Court in the Windward Mall Shopping Center and head to the Chinatown Express! You will NOT be DISAPPOINTED! I just needed to YELP about this other FAVORITE Chinese Place of mine! All their dishes are so flavorable and plentiful! Love their orange chicken, curry noodles (looks like pancit), chow fun, fried rice, minute chicken, roast pork, char siu, flounder fish, bitter melon, egg plant and I can name so much more, but you really should try it yourself!
