Salmon Mania (one of the three chefs signature appetizers) that garlic crunch and ponzu sauce so delicious
Jen C.

If you're looking for a quality omakase experience without having to drive into the city, this spot is definitely worth checking out. They offer five different omakase sets, each with a great variety of the chef's signature appetizers and nigiri pieces. Everything we had was incredibly fresh, and you could really taste the quality of the fish. The balance of flavors was spot on, and every piece was thoughtfully seasoned. You honestly don't need soy sauce because each bite is meant to be enjoyed exactly as it's served. I'm already looking forward to coming back to try their premium maki rolls and hand rolls. This is definitely a spot I'll be adding to my regular rotation.

Good omakase for the price in the suburbs. I would definitely come back to try more of their menu.

Best sushi in the suburbs I ever had. Great service and very pleasant atmosphere too.

Lychee-Tini & Old Fashioned

Kaido Sushi came as a top sushi recommendation to me from another Yelp Elite and it did not disappoint. It's located in a strip mall and the inside isn't overly large. One can sit at a table or the main sushi counter. The night I visited, it was rather slow which allowed staff to thoroughly wait on us. I asked a couple of questions about the menu. Our server explained that the most popular rolls were the Garlic Salmon, Mafia, and Hamachi Truffle. Most premium maki come as 8 rolls with the exception of Pink Flower and Tequila which are served as 6. All rolls are made to order with fresh ingredients. I also loved that they offered three options for veggie rolls as it's still my preference! To start, we ordered both the Lychee-tini and Old Fashioned cocktails. They couldn't have been more different in flavor profiles. The Old Fashioned was spirit forward yet smooth. It had a really nice finishing note that directly came from the Japanese Whiskey used. The Lychee-tini was sweeter and had good flavor. I also loved that there was actually a lychee at the bottom of the glass. For mains, my husband got the Mafia and Hamachi Truffle rolls per the staff's recommendation. He explained that the Mafia rolls were more of a mild heat. He preferred the Hamachi Truffle roll as it had a more unique and depth of flavor. I got the Black Garden roll without the jalapeño. I loved the freshness of the rolls and thoroughly enjoyed the veggies mixed with the sauce it had. We both agreed that all rolls tasted like they were made with premium, high quality ingredients. Once we finished, the chef came out to ask how we liked everything. Kaido's service level was amazing with staff clearing plates, refilling water, checking in on how we were doing, and just making sure we had the best dining experience. The details didn't go unnoticed and makes perfect sense why they have such an amazing Yelp score! Highly recommend visiting Kaido Sushi and looking forward to my next visit!

Cute restaurant and delicious food! It's quality over quantity here. The rolls aren't ginormous, but they pack a big punch. Hot sake $12 Scallop with Ikura $21 - Buttery texture, very tasty. This appetizer is served on individual spoons, 4 to an order. Hamachi Truffle $21 - Bright flavors on this roll, didn't really taste the truffle, still delicious. Azure Dragon $19 - Eel flavor not very strong, but very delicious. Reservation is recommended. The restaurant is small and gets packed. .|\---/| | @_@ | ..\_^_/..2025

Came here, finally on a Sunday night and made reservations just in case. However, they were never really full. It is located in a strip mall so there was lots of shared parking as well. Service the entire night was very quick and attentive. Food came out very quickly as well. This was definitely high-quality fish and really well-made, rolls, hand rolls, and all their dishes overall. I will say that this was a little bit pricier than other sushi restaurants in the area. However, the combination of flavors here is really rather unique. This is definitely elevated sushi not run-of-the-mill sushi and maki rolls. I could definitely see this place as an everyday dinner spot, but also cute with the ambience to make it even for a nice dinner or special event dinner out. I would definitely come back again and it was great that they had an open sushi bar area so you could see everything being prepared. Also prepare yourself as there are no noodles or rice options, per se, like a bowl or an entrée. I don't find that to be a bad thing. I'm just saying that this is definitely a strong sushi focus which is great.

Really cute and cozy spot at Kaido Sushi! I love omakase, but when you don't have time to sit through a full multi-course experience, this is the perfect alternative. You still get high-quality bites, and the presentation lets you visualize exactly how much food you can enjoy at once. Great option when you want something fun, delicious, and efficient!

Kenchin-jiru Soup - awesome!

One of the few sushi places open late :-). Had a great shiitake soup and two rolls. Cloud nine with crab hit the spot, and the spicy tuna Mafia roll was great as well. Even though I walked in at 9:45pm staff was very accommodating and I quickly ordered. :-) Pleasant and very comfy plush seats. I will definitely be back!

We only recently discovered this place, even thought it has been nestled in this strip mall between Arlington Heights Rd and Golf Rd! It is a cozy restaurant with limited seats, so I would recommend to make reservation ahead of time. We were lucky to be seated by the sushi bar where we could see all the action of the chefs! The menu has plenty of hot and cold foods, and there was an option of omakaze. We ordered a variety of sushi to try. The quality of the ingredients and the flavors were spot on! In terms of gluten free options, we discussed with the server who was knowledgeable with the menu. We would definitely come back again!

"King" Omakase

Kaido was a pleasant surprise in terms of quality and bang for your buck! We snagged a reservation on a Friday for later in the evening for date night and it was packed! Nonetheless we got seated in less than 5 minutes nonetheless. I ordered the "King" Omakase and for well under $100, I would call the package an incredible deal. The fish to rice ratio was impeccable and the quality of the cuts of fish were outstanding. The a la carte dishes rolls were also impressive. I would highly recommend this place, even for those who have a picky taste with sushi. This spot rivals some of the best sushi places in the city in my honest opinion. Definitely one of Arlington Heights best kept secret!

Our third time at this lovely little place. Cozy and comfortable. Urban modern with comfortable chairs. Their sushi maki and nigiri are outstanding. So very fresh. The miso soup with tiny shimeji mushrooms and tofu is warming and delicious. The Green Arrow salad keeps me coming back for more. I can't go anywhere else because this restaurant is so good. Five star restaurant in the burbs. Staff is wonderful. Family owned.

Everything we ordered was wonderful. We tried one of their Signature plates, King Omakase.

We ordered the Lemon Buttered Sea Bass -- pan-fried Australian sea bass with lemon butter sauce, sautéed asparagus and white rice. The sea bass was perfectly seasoned and really good! The rice, unfortunately, was a bit hard and cold, so that wasn't my favorite. We also got the Secret Garden Roll with avocado, greens, cucumber, asparagus, shiitake mushrooms and pickled radish, rolled in black rice and wrapped in soy paper. Vegetarian and gluten-free. For a gluten-free option, this was actually pleasant and tasty! The restaurant itself is chic and fun, and I think it's a great spot for a date night. The only downside for me was the music. It was SO loud that I felt like I was shouting the entire time just to have a conversation. Overall, we had a nice meal and I'm glad I finally checked out the Arlington Heights location!

Shakou has a few locations including this one which is a casual but classy place. For sure has lots of freshly prepared items. The menu also has lots of specials. Coming in here it wasn't busy. It's because it was early in the evening after it had opened. There's bar seating along with a good amount of tables. Get there at happy hour. There's great savings. It's about $12 for a cocktail. The best we had of these was the Japanese Mule. Great flavor. This is made with ginger beer, Junmai sake, lime juice, lime wedge, and mint. A lot of rolls to choose from. It's about $20 for a specialty roll. At happy hour it's a few bucks off. I got the Secret Garden Roll. This is made with asparagus, avocado, black rice, cucumbers, greens, pickled radish, and shiitake. It actually wasn't that much. Thankfully it wasn't the full price. Got to say it has great flavors. It's closed Mondays. This is located on Vail at Wing in the busy part of town or whatever.

Wow. I found myself…read morein Arlington Heights, and my buddy suggested this place due to an upcoming trip to Japan in 2027. It's a Japanese market that features an amazing food court (and this is where I spent all my time.) I don't recall the name of the stall I purchased from. But I can tell you it was quick, not expensive and very filling. I had a bowl with beef and noodles; for dessert I hit the matcha dessert stall for some matcha and vanilla ice cream. The whole place meal me feel like I was dining outside the state of Illinois. The service from everyone in the market was very friendly and they even had a sake/soju tasting by the front door (and the vendors allowed you try was much as you wanted.) I highly recommend this spot

If you love Japanese culture, food, and want to visit a neat place and kind of feel like you are…read morevisiting Japan, you need to visit Mitsuwa! Not only is there a food court of different Japanese restaurants to try, there is also a grocery store, bakery, bookstore, and stores that sell ice cream, traditional desserts, as well as crepes and boba tea! My family and I visit here often every year and we like to try the different foods and desserts and then check out the bookstore and grocery store afterwards. My favorite foods so far have been the beef udon soup with a soft boiled egg, shrimp and vegetable tempura, miso soup, and Japanese curry with rice, beef, and vegetables (carrots and potatoes). My son always gets the chicken and beef on a stick and my daughter usually gets a garlic pork dish with white rice but I forget what this dish is called. My husband also enjoys the beef udon soup like I do. I swear that whenever my food is finished, I am legit sad! The crepes are good, there is a variety of boba teas to try, and the ice creams are delicious! Lychee has been my favorite so far but I have yet to try the matcha, red bean, among others! You can get a small sample of different ice cream flavors too, which is nice! I sampled the red bean flavor so that will be my go-to next time! At the grocery store, I love buying Happy Turn snacks which are like a sweet and salty crunchy cracker (maybe it is made of rice?) that are individually wrapped and mochi from the fridge area. Finally, I usually like to buy mochi from the store right next to the bookstore. The mochi from this location is the best! I usually buy multiple flavors to take home and eat at a later time! You must try these! My kids love checking out the bookstore and they usually pick something out for me to buy for them - whether it is a book, keychain, etc. There are magazines, anime figurines, soft plushy toys, pens, and stationary, etc. It is interesting to browse through the things they have there! You cannot bring food or drinks inside but they do have a shelf at the entrance where you can place your drink there if you like. The first time visiting here, the majority of the customers were Asians and as the years have passed, there is now more of an influx of non-Asians who simply love the food and appreciate the culture, which I think is neat! The first time I visited here was with my college roommate who was from Japan and she recommended this place back in 2009 perhaps? I have been visiting ever since with my family. We travel more than an hour from Wisconsin to come here but it is 100% worth the drive! Also, the cashiers and workers there are quick, efficient, and friendly. I have even been able to practice a few of the Japanese phrases I have learned with a couple of the cashiers too (I asked if they spoke Japanese first)! Overall, Mitsuwa is my happy place! Great food, interesting finds, different culture, and everyone there looks excited to be there. This is as close to visiting Japan as I can get until I keep learning more Japanese and save up enough money to go visit Japan someday! This is my dream! In the meantime, we will keep visiting Mitsuwa!

A little shoutout to Sushi Station!…read more My sister and I have been frequent patrons for years, so we had to laugh when my niece chose a sushi theme for her 4th birthday party! Of course, Sushi Station had to be part of the celebration. We placed an order for the party and, as always, everything was perfect. The order was accurate, the service was great, and they even included the little chopstick helpers we requested for the toddlers at the party. Such a small detail, but very much appreciated! One of the things we appreciate most about Sushi Station is how consistently great they are. We always know what to expect, and they continue to deliver every time. Thanks for helping make our little sushi lover's 4th birthday extra special. Keep up the great work!

My family orders from Sushi Station probably every other week. No joke My daughter's favorite food is literally makis (we tell her it is sushi) from Sushi Station, so naturally we had to have them cater her birthday party. And somehow, even though we already knew how great they were, they STILL managed to completely over deliver. I actually faxed in my catering order I couldn't find an email contact, and while I saw that I could order online, I wanted to include some special requests and compliments. I figured hey, everyone loves a letter lol. They were so sweet about it and let me know I could order online in the future. But what really got me was how much they paid attention to the little things. Top priority of our guests were toddlers, and they gave us the cutest little chopstick helpers for the kids. I also made the slightly unusual request of asking if they could leave some space between the different sushi rolls because, let's be honest, we all have that one friend who doesn't like their food touching (oh my). They didn't even question it. They were incredibly accommodating. They checked in with me anytime they had a question, made sure everything was exactly how we wanted it, and the entire order came out PERFECT!!!!! And really, I shouldn't be surprised. They've been feeding our family for years and their service has always been amazing. The sushi was fresh, beautiful, delicious and incredibly affordable, especially considering we were feeding an entire birthday party. The quality and presentation were beyond what I expected. Thank you Sushi Station for helping make our little girl's 4th birthday so special. You guys absolutely knocked it out of the park. Amazing sushi. Amazing service. Amazing people. We will continue coming back again and again!
