    Mango Sticky Rice

Cozy with a modern flare of Thai and Japanese decors. Delicious authentic Thai food that delivers the spicy flavor. The papaya salad was spicy and drench in fish sauce that wasn't over powering. The pad see ew was packed with chicken and veggies. Noddles a wonderful chewy texture. I love panang curry and Sushi Plus Thai definitely hit the flavor with this dish. We ended with some mango sticky rice. Sweet, coconuty and yummy. Ripe mango that has enough tart and sweetness. Our server was friendly and professional. Definitely a new favorite spot in Palatine.

I was soo ready to give it five stars. The food and presentation overall deserves a 5 star. However, the wonton soup was wayyy too salty, we suspect that they mistakenly salted twice because none of the other dishes were that salty. Secondly, the service was a bit too slow. We sat down for 10+ minutes, five of us with only two sets of utensils. They did have a really full house and were very busy, but it still took like over 30 minutes to order when most of the tables already have their food. So now to the good parts, their papaya salad was one of the only ones that's not spicy and not too sweet. Everything about their papaya salad was perfectly done. The Guay Teow was good but flavor is not as deep as what we had from another chef. The Lad Nar noodles were done really well, sauce was good too, but it's a tad bit spicy even tho the menu doesn't indicate spicy. We asked for tofu but they gave us chicken instead, which is fine. The sauce was a bit too salty at the end but still very good. The California roll seaweed was a bit tough for my littlest. I liked that they had microgreens and a candied tangerine. The fillings for the potstickers and the wonton are pretty generic and flat, but of course neither is Thai or Japanese so it's fine. Their plating overall was really good. Ingredients very fresh and you can tell they put intention and care into making the foods. The price reflects that. We would definitely come back to try other items on their big menu, in particular interested in some of their other salads given how good the papaya one was. Also hoping the overly salty was just one off situation. I have high hopes for this place!

New place just opened this month and decided to check it out. We ordered the lunch special that includes an appetizer and entree (Pad Thai + Veggie Egg roll & Pad See Ew + Golden Bags), spicy tuna, spicy shishito peppers.

I believe we ate lunch on a weekday. The service was ok, a few of the items we wanted to order were not available. Their sushi chef was not there that day, so no sushi was available to order, along with one or two other entrees we wanted to order. The food was average, nothing that stood out as great or exceptionally bad. The one thing I remembered thinking positively was the curry chicken rice plate. The curry sauce was good. The chicken wasn't the traditional breaded chicken cutlet, rather pieces of chicken karage, which was good. I don't know if it would be fair to say we'd never go back to try again, but we do have places we really like near by, so it isn't likely we're going back anytime soon.

She had to multiple times to back to the kitchen to ask some man about things. Everything here is stupidly expensive. Drinks are overpriced. A bowl of soup that I can get for $8.99 at the local Asian marts food court costs near $20 This is just another hack chain restaurant trying to bilk money. Don't open your damned restaurant if you don't have tofu. Thats basic Asian. Don't bother opening if you don't have your flagship soup or sushi and just have crap available. I finally got fed up after ordering sushi getting told that out of stock and then ordering fried tofu which is in the damn supermarket across the street. That too out of stock. Incompetent management. Incompetent employees. How the hell does this dump have over 15 locations. Must be a dark money laundering network for p3d0ph1l3s Also. Major red flag when you display a MASSIVE case of alcohol in the front unsecured foyer. I could have easily smashed and grabbed hundreds of dollars in liquors and easily dashed in a getaway car. This isn't an eating restaurant. It's a place for hacks to get drunk. It's open late for the exact reason of it being a dive bar playing off as a restaurant. It's not a restaurant. There's a kind of "night out" vibe here, even if you're just grabbing dinner on a random weeknight. The menu is creative, with specialty rolls and fusion-style dishes that feel a little more elevated than your standard lineup. When it's on, it's really on. Service is iffy to be honest. Staff is attentive and knowledgeable, and the whole experience feels polished. Drinks are well-crafted, and the patio (when open) adds a whole extra layer to the experience. That said, this is where the missing fifth star lives. Shakou can be a little inconsistent. Some visits feel like a five-star experience, others land closer to "really good, but not unforgettable." A few dishes might lean a bit too sweet or not quite balance the flavors, and during busier times, things can feel a little rushed or loud. But even with that, it's still an easy recommendation. This is a great spot when you want sushi that feels a little more upscale without going full fine dining. It's stylish, flavorful, and usually delivers a really solid experience. Four stars, comfortably... with just enough flashes of brilliance to make you keep coming back!

We had to stand in the lobby for 5 minutes without much information, while other groups who came in without a reservation after us were seated before us. Furthermore, the reservation was for the "Patio" and while technically we were seated on the "Patio", I would say it was the bottom rung of the patio. Sat at the first table outside the restaurant, underneath the awning with a bird's nest overhead chirping the entire time. Essentially in my opinion, when you make a reservation somewhere, you don't really expect to be seated in probably the worst location they have to offer. Food was pretty decent. We had two bowls basically. Both were okay, like any Sushi style restaurant, prices were a bit high, especially considering their location in the heart of the AH downtown. I would come again, but for a first try it wasn't anything special for sure.
