I've been to Sushi Plus Thai by Sensei three times now, and it's SO SO SO good! The staff is always really nice, friendly and accommodating. It's a smaller restaurant, but I actually like the cozy feel. It can get busy during prime dinner/rush hours, so that's something to keep in mind. The sushi is definitely a highlight for me, especially because you can customize your rolls however you want. My favorites are the Sweet Potato Tempura Roll, Mushroom Taco Sushi and my custom vegetarian roll with sweet potato tempura, asparagus tempura, jalapeño, mushroom, cream cheese and avocado. The Panang curry and Tom Yum soup were also really good, and the Thai iced tea is a must. The drunken noodles and Veggie Lover Roll weren't really my favorites, but everything else I tried was fire. And I have to mention the mango sticky rice because it is honestly the BEST I've ever had. Definitely save room for it! The ambience here couldn't be more confusing. One wall it's SoHo downtown the other it's a fine Thai mural. The music in the restaurant sounds like the same album on repeat because they couldn't get a radio license. The service staff here were polite but didn't serve tea by the kettle and seemingly got irritated. The food quality was just okay. Most of the fish was rather fresh but some felt clearly off. The prices were not the most competitive. I wouldn't eat here if I were paying. Thank God this was a birthday meal from a friend. Not sure if it was the food here or if I got stomach flu some else how but I'll pass on this restaurants high prices and questionable tuna. read more

I've been looking at this spot for a while, as this is conveniently close to the library, downtown Palatine, and Marianos. The food prices are fair and it has nicer decor than some of the other spots nearby that serve Thai or sushi. On my visit, my expectations were met as this is a beautifully decorated restaurant with a bit more of a casual vibe. It's great for larger groups since the menu covers every type of protein in their Thai selection, in addition to sushi. The prices are good for the offerings, as steak isn't much more than other proteins and everything from poke bowl to premium rolls are offered. I was quite surprised at how good the sweet and sour chicken was here, with a very good level of deep frying, and fresh bell peppers, pineapples, onions, and tomatoes to give it a more refined flavor. The poke bowl had a good amount of salmon, which was marinated a bit to be more flavorful. The vegetables were quite fresh and crisp, while a bit of fish eggs added the right amount of saltiness. In terms of presentation, the wasabi bomb roll and spicy salmon roll that my friend ordered looked alright - though the flavor and quality of the fish was quite good. There was also a good amount of extra garnish on the side to make the dish look nice. Overall, delicious food, friendly service, and good prices make this a spot I'm excited to return to in the future. Though I originally researched this spot to try the sushi, I'd love to go back and try more Thai from what I saw at other tables. read more

Sushi Plus Thai is a new addition to the food scene in Palatine. This small and intimate restaurant is big on flavor and excellent food. My husband and I ordered the sweet and sour chicken and the salmon poke bowl. The sweet and sour chicken was very crispy and had an amazing sauce. The salmon and vegetables were fresh. The pad see ew was packed with chicken and veggies. Noddles a wonderful chewy texture. I love panang curry and Sushi Plus Thai definitely hit the flavor with this dish. I was soo ready to give it five stars. The food and presentation overall deserves a 5 star. However, the wonton soup was wayyy too salty, we suspect that they mistakenly salted twice because none of the other dishes were that salty. Secondly, the service was a bit too slow. We sat down for 10+ minutes, five of us with only two sets of utensils. They did have a really full house and were very busy, but it still took like over 30 minutes to order when most of the tables already have their food. So now to the good parts, their papaya salad was one of the only ones that's not spicy and not too sweet. Everything about their papaya salad was perfectly done. The Guay Teow was good but flavor is not as deep as what we had from another chef. The Lad Nar noodles were done really well, sauce was good too, but it's a tad bit spicy even tho the menu doesn't indicate spicy. We asked for tofu but they gave us chicken instead, which is fine. The sauce was a bit too salty at the end but still very good. The California roll seaweed was a bit tough for my littlest. I liked that they had microgreens and a candied tangerine. The fillings for the potstickers and the wonton are pretty generic and flat, but of course neither is Thai or Japanese so it's fine. Their plating overall was really good. Ingredients very fresh and you can tell they put intention and care into making the foods. The price reflects that. We would definitely come back to try other items on their big menu, in particular interested in some of their other salads given how good the papaya one was. Also hoping the overly salty was just one off situation. I have high hopes for this place! read more

Don't let the strip shopping center storefront fool you. There is some really good food to be had here. They have nice sized and reasonably priced lunch specials. Have been there once for lunch and most recently for dinner. It's a casual place with great food. My only complaint was that the won ton soup was really heavy with cilantro. However, the chicken won tons were great and the size of the small was huge. The sushi was great and the cucumber salad was so refreshing. You would do well to add this to your rotation of sushi places. read more

With a pad thai craving, we decided to try this new place. Dined in and like the decor. Ambiance is ideal with a bustling carry out business which is great to see. Ample gluten free options; our server took great care to ensure allergy restriction was met. Edamame was presented with a carved flower carrot. Nice touch! Shows the kitchen is skilled. Went to pickup some takeout for a quiet New Years Eve. I LOVE the panang curry and green curry holy cow it is so flavorful and delicate at the same time. I have a spot in Arlington heights that was my favorite up until today but this place is now my favorite in the northwest suburbs. I am a huge Thai foodie so I definitely know the authentic flavors and this place nailed it. Strawberry mochi is so good and the outer layer is so soft , doesn't freezer burn either! The lady who helped me at the counter was extremely polite and they listened to all the notes/requests on my order submission online. My other guest ordered the deluxe sashimi and eel sashimi on side. They absolutely loved it and said it was very fresh and well cut. Will definitely be back!
