Had a hankering for Vietnamese food and went to this restaurant kind of hidden in a strip mall. The space is great high ceilings made the space seem exceptionally large, though I think they could have turned up the music a bit as I thought my kids were boisterous in such a cavernous space. Each table has self serve rooster sauce and hoisin sauce with soup spoons, chopsticks, forks and metal spoons. The caddy was quite large and tall so we had it removed after setting everyone up. We ordered quite a few dishes and repeated a few. #42 was the pho of choice with everything added in. I personally had the bun lemongrass pork with egg roll. Everyone at the table remarked how full the bowl was when the food came out. It's a delightful noodle salad, super flavorful with the fish sauce added and the salad mixed up. Very filling, and actually a good dish to share as a salad. It has variety of texture with peanuts, egg roll crunch, the noodles, the pickled veggies, the umami of.thr fish sauce a wonderful dish that signals in summer. We ordered salt n pepper shrimp and squid as an appetizer for the table since we were quite hungry when we landed. The two were really different from each other. Both great taste, but the onions shined thru with a bomb of flavor, wonderful when mixed in with the rice. The shrimp had heads slightly trimmed, we ate them crispy head and all. I had a taste of the bun bo hue, which I think is always overlooked when it's the last item on the "pho" section of the menu. It should be a highlight, very different than standard pho, the noodles are rounder, the broth more savory and had a bit of unexpected mild heat (I think usually I don't expect heat, but this good). A great contrast from the pho noodles. I've been to the libertyville location before, and had good memories. This one is a good one as well, the staff was always around and I liked how the high ceilings and the feeling of spaciousness. I will definitely give it another round. In a world where most all places are cashless, Viet Taste keeps the pricing reasonable with being Cash only, they do have an atm on site as well. We fortunately had enough cash amongst us for this food adventure.
One of our go to Viet spots. Decent price, fast service, and delicious food. Sizable menu and kids options here make it family friendly for us. Recommend: Special pho or beef pho Banh xeo Banh mi sandwiches Beef or chicken Noodle bowls Pork and sausage entree Medium size restaurant, plenty of seating. Can accommodate a large group if needed.
When we are in the Palatine area, we love to go to Viet Taste for quick and yummy Vietnamese meals. We had dined in a couple of times, and got carryout orders numerous times. Please be informed that they only accept cash, so you will be better prepared. Their dining room is very big and spacious. Décor is simple and casual, with many clean booths or tables and chair. Service is efficient and the owner/manager in the carryout section is very friendly. The best part is the delicious food at very reasonable prices. They have a big menu and my go to dish is their Pho with Brisket and Tendon. I don't see tendon in many other Vietnamese eateries. Viet Taste always provides tendon that is big and tender, that hits the spot. They even let me create new pho combination with brisket, tendon and beef meatballs. However, I felt that the meatballs were a bit too compact to me (it could just be my taste), so I would still stick with brisket and tendon. I also like their Taro bubble tea, which was pretty standard. For carryout order, it usually takes about 20 minutes from the time we phone in, which is not bad. All in all, Viet Taste in Palatine is an excellent choice for Vietnamese pho.
We have tried Com Dia in quite a few local restaurants and Viet Taste honestly has one of the best Lemongrass Grilled Chicken Com Dia's we've had. My wife had the Chicken Pho with Beef broth. The chicken was shredded and not in giant chunks, which for us, is a more tasty option. We will definitely be returning and this establishment only accepts cash, but there is an ATM in the cashier area.
Viet Taste is still pretty good. I had a craving for banh mi and spring rolls. This place always hits the spot for pork banh mi! There's plenty of pork, the pickled vegetables are fresh & crunchy, and the bread is soft inside. The fresh spring roll is exactly that - fresh! We ordered the fried spring roll which is decent. I think I taste a hint of taro, but I'm not sure. Either way my kids devoured them. We had crab rangoon and this was the only disappointing part of the meal. The wrapper was on the thicker and chewier side, the filling was barely there so it was just mostly chewy wrapper with a smidge of cream cheese filling. My family loves the combo pho. It's got a nice amount of meat with noodles. It's enough for 2 meals for me, but the rest of my family devoured everything. I definitely recommend Viet Taste! There isn't too many good pho places in the burbs. Rest assured this is one of the good places. Just note - It's CASH ONLY. Be prepared with cash and be hungry.
Viet Taste is a great Vietnamese restaurant in Palatine. There is a large dining room and a separate carry-out area as well. All of the food is amazing. My husband and I are big fans of their pho, salads, and combination appetizer plate. Watch out though, the portions are huge! The service is a little slow at times but it doesn't get in the way of a good time.
visited on a monday for lunch and it was pretty empty so we were able to get a booth. got a high chair as well for my son. i got the pho tai nam while my husband got the pho dac biet. we were impressed with the taste and portion size. the broth was great as is. there was a good amount of meat as well. the bathrooms were clean. the food came out fast. the only thing lacking was the service. not bad but not great. will be back though!
Luv this neighborhood gem located in a strip mall in Paletine. Everything is delicious and tastes like your grandma made it!!!! The pho broth has true depth of flavor like it's been simmering for hours to get maximum taste! We also luv the bahn mi the bread is always warm & crusty but soft and filled with tender pork or beef and the pickled veggies and crisp cucumber!! Feels like you got it from Paris or Vietnam!!! The service is top notch all the servers are knowledgeable about each dish and give great recommendations!! Ask for Rico when you go. Not only is he an awesome server but he also cooks usually on Sunday!! We luv coming on Sunday because the food is always on point!! Don't forget to order boba with your meals very tasty and great compliment to all the dishes!! Our family favorite is either the Thai tea or avacado!! With all the wintery weather Viet Taste is an awesome choice for a warm comforting meal to chase the chilly blues away!!!
So delicious!! The best pho I have ever had. I came in for lunch and wasn't sure on what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised. The dining room is large and very nice. They had appetizers, pho, bahn mi, & a large selection of smoothies and boba teas. I ordered the brisket pho. The broth was the standout. It was so flavorful yet light. The noodles and meat were cooked perfectly. They also give you a large plate of basil, jalapeños, onions & bamboo shoots. Service was friendly and efficient. Major props to the server- he was handling over 15 tables, the cash register & the smoothies. He didn't miss a beat either! I'll definitely be back!!!
Love Love Love ... we've tried several Pho places in the area & yes there are plenty of good places but the food here is always amazing & really quick! Plus they offer other choices not just Pho ... which is also very nice. The service is pleasant & they are always helpful ... the restaurant and rest rooms are clean - they do remind you it is "cash only" and we do remember to bring cash (although there is an ATM available).
I have been to Viet Taste a number of times, for dine-in as well as carry-out. Most recently, I went there on a Saturday around noon, and it was not too crowded. This time, I had the combo soup noodle - with beef slices, brisket, tendon, tripe, and meat ball. What I like about Viet Taste is its quick service. The soup noodle came out in about 5 minutes after I had placed the order. It was quite tasty, although some tiny pieces of beef slice were a bit chewy. But I would say that it was an exception rather than a normalty. Usually, the beef was pretty tender. Overall, the soup noodle bowl was delicious, and I liked it. It should be noted that Viet Taste only accepts cash. And it is not just for dine-in. For this reason, you cannot order carry-out online (and pay by credit card). You have to call-in by phone and then pay cash when you pick up the order. Viet taste is a good Vietnamese eating place, with quick service and reasonable prices. I would recommend it.
Best Pho place in the area! Viet taste is our go to for Pho, it is always made very delicious and bowls are good portions with alot of noodles and beef depending what kind you order. They also have other dinner plates not just Pho so theres something for everyone. We got the starter plate for 3 as appetizers which came with spring rolls, chicken and shrimp egg-rolls! They also have smoothies/boba teas, and Vietnamese Iced coffee which is strong but delicious. Service is always good with friendly staff always checking on us. The place is pretty big so theres always enough seating. This place is CASH ONLY but they have ATM inside if needed!
Really pleasantly surprised with the quality and quantity of the food. The price was good but probably because they are cash only! So need to be ready for that! Take-home pho is really difficult to get right, but they do it well and everything stayed super fresh. Ingredients were all very clean and high quality/fresh/crunchy. Pho broth acidity is just right and hits the spot. Bahn mi was a good size too, pork was tender and sweet, cilantro and jalapeño were large and fresh too. The pickled veggies were good, but I think I would prefer it more flavorful (like more intensely sour and sweet), but it might not be the intended flavor profile they are going for. Either way, it was still really really good. Definitely would come back.

My wife and I were in the mood for Vietnamese food so I ordered from Viet Taste. First, this is a cash only establishment. So be ready! I ordered the Salt & Pepper shrimp (unshelled). My wife ordered veggie pho and veggie bahn mi sandwich which has tofu. My shrimp was awesome- it had good flavors and the order taker was spot on with keeping it unshelled. The flavors seeped through and marinated the shrimp. The dish came with rice. My wife loved her Pho and the sandwich was filling. The tofu is fried to the crisp. The pho can be shared by two people and the veggie bahn mi is a good size but of eat the whole thing as the bread is so good. We will be back as I want to try the coffee read more
My good friend and I tried Viet taste. The food was alright. I thought the fish sauce was one of the better ones I have had. I do think the overall food was fresh and has taste to it. The service was not the best. We did feel the waiters we had were not very attentive and we had to get their attention many times. The ambiance was okay. The lighting was really poor as we had to pull out our phones to read the menu. A side note Viet taste only takes cash. Overall, I will say give them a try if you want to try a new Vietnamese spot out. read more
We came here for a birthday celebration, and it's the perfect spot if you're looking for a quick, straightforward, and delicious meal! We tried a bit of everything: #21 Bún Lemongrass Pork & Egg Roll: Huge portion and incredibly tasty. #42 Combo Meat Pho: Packed with beef slices, brisket, tendon, tripe, and meatballs. The broth was excellent. #30 Fried Salt & Pepper Calamari: Great flavor, though the portion of calamari was a bit small. #31 Fried Salt & Pepper Shrimp: We got them with the shell on, which was definitely the right move! #58 Bún Bò Huế: A spicy lemongrass and shrimp broth with thick vermicelli, brisket, tendon, and pork roll. It was a unique change of pace from our usual pho order, but really good! I would definitely be back to try other menu items! The staff were quick and helpful! read more

Had Viet Taste bookmarked and since I was sort of in the area had to check it out. It was cold out and pho hit the spot. Broth was flavorful, tons of meat, and fresh veggies. The Banh Xeo, Vietnamese crepe was huge. Tons of filling and crispy outer. Service was great. Will definitely be back again read more
Was feeling the need for Vietnamese. Looked on Yelp , found some good reviews, and decided to take a drive up up 53... a bit further than I thought it would be... Order was done super fast, ambiance could be better, but standard for a strip mall. Service is good, and it's cute the kids help out this obviously family business. Ordered the wrong soup because l did it in a rush (creamy vs. clear), but the shrimp bun was decent if not what I was used to, and a future go-to spot... since To Pho is under remodeling. read more

Since new ownership the quality has gone down. In the last 6 months, they started only accepting cash, which most people don't carry with them anymore. They have an ATM in the restaurant. We started with chicken skewers and crispy egg rolls. The chicken skewer portion was generous, but we got some bad bites of meat. I also wish they came with a peanut dipping sauce. The egg rolls had an odd fishy taste. The pho came out quickly and was steaming hot. I thoroughly enjoyed my bowl after adding hoisin and sriracha. read more

There isn't a lot of pho places to choose from in the area, so I was a bit worried about how the quality was going to be. In a way, I was right to be worried. I started out with their spring rolls. The peanut sauce wasn't bad, but there was an overwhelming amount of cilantro in the rolls themselves. I couldn't taste anything but the cilantro. The shrimp also didn't seem very fresh to me. I got their Pho with well-done brisket and rare beef slices (on the side). They definitely didn't hear me say no onions because I had a bunch of onions in my pho bowl AND on top of my rare beef as well. To anyone reading this, SKIP THE BRISKET!! It was 90% fat and I can't even remember what the actual meat tasted like. Such a ripoff. The rare beef was tasty and they gave a lot, which I was happy about. All the vegetables provided were fresh as well. I didn't love the broth. It was pretty salty and bland otherwise. I'm honestly surprised this place has such great reviews, but I'm guessing it's because there isn't much in the area to compare it to. Their food definitely would not be able to compete if there was other restaurants in the area. It got the job done and wasn't expensive, so that's the main perk. read more

Huge no frills space with quick service and delicious food. The pho broth is light but still flavorful- I got the combo which was also a huge portion with lots of meat pieces. For appetizers, we shared the huge crepe lettuce wrap dish, which was my first time and I loved this dish. Super shareable and a fresh start to the meal. The shrimp rangoons were also interesting and hearty. The combo vermicelli salad was also a nice refreshing dish to share. Overall, everything was great at an excellent price. read more
We decided to try this Vietnamese restaurant out since I always pass by it. We got there on a Saturday afternoon around 2 pm. It's a very large restaurant with lots of seating options. The restaurant decors has a French - colonial vibe while playing Vietnamese music in the background. I wasn't sure who our server was because we had one person bring us water, one person take our order, another person bring out the food and I think someone else gave us our check. We ordered the following: - ice Viet coffee: husband said to bitter for him and need more condense milk but I actually thought it was pretty good - jasmine milk tea - iced, ok nothing special - chicken wings: nicely seasoned and crispy - beef pho: broth flavorful with good amount of meat - bun bo hue: too much shrimp paste but lots of meat They only except cash. There was an ATM machine inside read more
We went to Viet Taste for dinner one night after craving Vietnamese food. When we walked in, there was a section for to go orders, and we were guided into a large room for dine in. We started with the sampler, the spring rolls were delicious. The egg rolls were a bit dry but the shrimp Rangoon were like the crab ones but just a long shrimp instead. I decided to get the avocado boba while my husband got the bahama breeze. My avocado drink tasted like syrup and milk. Kind of a let down after seeing all of their great photos of it. But my husband seemed to love his drink. Our entrees came out minutes after the starter platter came out. We both had the pork chop with Chinese sausage and fried egg. The pork was delicious, the let down was the rice. It tasted like old rice, because it was hard and inedible. :( When we went to pay, we were told it was cash only... we don't often carry cash, but was told there was an ATM that we could use. So we went to use it and it was broken. We waited about 30 minutes for the guy to fix it and went on our merry way! read more

Viet taste has some solid food. Started with 001: Viet Taste Starter Plate: crispy egg roll, fresh spring roll, shrimp rangoons, and chicken on the stick. It was a good variety of food to start the meal with and it is great to share with others. My favorite was the chicken on the stick, it had a good grilled flavor and wasn't dry. For the main dish, I tried 42, the pho with combo meat. There were lots of toppings in the pho. I wish there were a bit more onions and that the broth was a bit sweeter. Service was great as they brought the food out quickly and checked in on us periodically. The restaurant has plenty of seating and parking. It's great for big groups and is probably the best Vietnamese food you can get in the suburbs. Would recommend checking this place out! read more
