Had a hankering for Vietnamese food and went to this restaurant kind of hidden in a strip mall. The space is great high ceilings made the space seem exceptionally large, though I think they could have turned up the music a bit as I thought my kids were boisterous in such a cavernous space. Each table has self serve rooster sauce and hoisin sauce with soup spoons, chopsticks, forks and metal spoons. The caddy was quite large and tall so we had it removed after setting everyone up. We ordered quite a few dishes and repeated a few. #42 was the pho of choice with everything added in. I personally had the bun lemongrass pork with egg roll. Everyone at the table remarked how full the bowl was when the food came out. It's a delightful noodle salad, super flavorful with the fish sauce added and the salad mixed up. Very filling, and actually a good dish to share as a salad. It has variety of texture with peanuts, egg roll crunch, the noodles, the pickled veggies, the umami of.thr fish sauce a wonderful dish that signals in summer. We ordered salt n pepper shrimp and squid as an appetizer for the table since we were quite hungry when we landed. The two were really different from each other. Both great taste, but the onions shined thru with a bomb of flavor, wonderful when mixed in with the rice. The shrimp had heads slightly trimmed, we ate them crispy head and all. I had a taste of the bun bo hue, which I think is always overlooked when it's the last item on the "pho" section of the menu. It should be a highlight, very different than standard pho, the noodles are rounder, the broth more savory and had a bit of unexpected mild heat (I think usually I don't expect heat, but this good). A great contrast from the pho noodles. I've been to the libertyville location before, and had good memories. This one is a good one as well, the staff was always around and I liked how the high ceilings and the feeling of spaciousness. I will definitely give it another round. In a world where most all places are cashless, Viet Taste keeps the pricing reasonable with being Cash only, they do have an atm on site as well. My good friend and I tried Viet taste. The food was alright. I thought the fish sauce was one of the better ones I have had. I do think the overall food was fresh and has taste to it. The service was not the best. We did feel the waiters we had were not very attentive and we had to get their attention many times. The ambiance was okay. The lighting was really poor as we had to pull out our phones to read the menu. A side note Viet taste only takes cash. We came here for a birthday celebration, and it's the perfect spot if you're looking for a quick, straightforward, and delicious meal! We tried a bit of everything: #21 Bún Lemongrass Pork & Egg Roll: Huge portion and incredibly tasty. #42 Combo Meat Pho: Packed with beef slices, brisket, tendon, tripe, and meatballs. When we are in the Palatine area, we love to go to Viet Taste for quick and yummy Vietnamese meals.  We had dined in a couple of times, and got carryout orders numerous times.  Please be informed that they only accept cash, so you will be better prepared. Their dining room is very big and spacious.  Décor is simple and casual, with many clean booths or tables and chair.  Service is efficient and the owner/manager in the carryout section is very friendly.  The best part is the delicious food at very reasonable prices.  They have a big menu and my go to dish is their Pho with Brisket and Tendon.  I don't see tendon in many other Vietnamese eateries.  Viet Taste always provides tendon that is big and tender, that hits the spot.  They even let me create new pho combination with brisket, tendon and beef meatballs.  However, I felt that the meatballs were a bit too compact to me (it could just be my taste), so I would still stick with brisket and tendon. I also like their Taro bubble tea, which was pretty standard. For carryout order, it usually takes about 20 minutes from the time we phone in, which is not bad. All in all, Viet Taste in Palatine is an excellent choice for Vietnamese pho. read more

Viet Taste is still pretty good. I had a craving for banh mi and spring rolls. This place always hits the spot for pork banh mi! There's plenty of pork, the pickled vegetables are fresh & crunchy, and the bread is soft inside. The fresh spring roll is exactly that - fresh! We ordered the fried spring roll which is decent. I think I taste a hint of taro, but I'm not sure. Either way my kids devoured them. We had crab rangoon and this was the only disappointing part of the meal. The wrapper was on the thicker and chewier side, the filling was barely there so it was just mostly chewy wrapper with a smidge of cream cheese filling. My family loves the combo pho. It's got a nice amount of meat with noodles. It's enough for 2 meals for me, but the rest of my family devoured everything. I definitely recommend Viet Taste! First time here, and place was kinda dark but plenty of tables to choose from and sit yourself, We ordered the Tasty combo appetizers and very good, then we both ordered the Pho with combo beef and other stuff in it, service was good but the spoons and other utensils was placed in a container which was not really good since hygiene wise everyone who eats there touches them to select their eating utensils. Only the chopsticks were sealed individually. Overall, it's ok but otherwise they should not put their spoons and other stuff for everyone to touch before you eat. read more

A cash only joint, first and foremost. I've now tried their Libertyville and Buffalo Grove locations, and neither disappointed. Nothing out of this world, but pho and eggrolls I ordered both times were consistently good. I've been on a quest to find a pho place that could replicate what my favorite old Vietnamese uncle and aunt had been cooking in Toledo used to cook up, but with no success. They have since retired and their son started a new place to continue tge legacy, but honestly hasn't been the same. Most of the Vietbamese places I've tried here have failed to meet not only my expectations, but just the general standards for Vietnamese food. Both Viet Taste locations have so far met the standards as far as pho and eggrolls goes. I have yet to try their pork chop dish or other bun dishes, so that'll have to come next. At least I know I can count on the consistency of pho. The hall is nice and big, hosting plenty of booths. I visited both locations at odd times, so I couldn't see how service is handled when it gets super busy, but my personal experiences have thus far been more than adequate. My husband and I are big fans of their pho, salads, and combination appetizer plate. Watch out though, the portions are huge! This is one of our go to places when we want asian food that is quick and close by. There is plenty of space, so we've never really had to wait to sit (even with large parties), but the restaurant does get pretty busy. One big thing to note, this place is cash only. We love getting #27 (grilled pork chop with honey sausage). The pork chop is tasty, decent portions. You can pour this sweet sauce over your rice. And my kids always love the honey sausage. Another go to is #25, the Bun combo shrimp, lemongrass pork, and egg roll. Pour that same sweet sauce over this noodle and mix! It's mixed with chopped lettuce which makes the dish a room temperature meal. Noodle and meat/shrimp/eggroll are hot, but the lettuce is cold. I probably didn't make that sound good but it's a really good combination. We also get different types of Pho here. You can pretty much get whatever combination of meat you want even though that combination is not listed. Staff is friendly here. Wish it were a little brighter though. read more

The pho broth has true depth of flavor like it's been simmering for hours to get maximum taste! Best Pho place in the area! Viet taste is our go to for Pho, it is always made very delicious and bowls are good portions with alot of noodles and beef depending what kind you order. They also have other dinner plates not just Pho so theres something for everyone. We got the starter plate for 3 as appetizers which came with spring rolls, chicken and shrimp egg-rolls! I have been to Viet Taste a number of times, for dine-in as well as carry-out.  Most recently, I went there on a Saturday around noon, and it was not too crowded.  This time, I had the combo soup noodle - with beef slices, brisket, tendon, tripe, and meat ball. What I like about Viet Taste is its quick service.  The soup noodle came out in about 5 minutes after I had placed the order.  It was quite tasty, although some tiny pieces of beef slice were a bit chewy. But I would say that it was an exception rather than a normalty.  Usually, the beef was pretty tender.  Overall, the soup noodle bowl was delicious, and I liked it. It should be noted that Viet Taste only accepts cash.  And it is not just for dine-in. For this reason, you cannot order carry-out online (and pay by credit card). You have to call-in by phone and then pay cash when you pick up the order. Viet taste is a good Vietnamese eating place, with quick service and reasonable prices.  I would recommend it. read more

Take-home pho is really difficult to get right, but they do it well and everything stayed super fresh. Ingredients were all very clean and high quality/fresh/crunchy. We ordered way too much food for how generous the portions were! The bahn mi "appetizer" is a huge sandwich and definitely a meal by itself. Comes with hoisin sauce. Spring rolls are fresh and come with a yummy peanut dipping sauce. There's also a crepe listed as another "appetizer" but it's huge and filled with meat. I really like the dishes that Viet Taste offers. I often get noodle salad or rice bowls, but their pho is also declicious. I've had a few instances where the meat wasn't cooked well or had a weird taste - not sure what the issue is, but it's fairly rare so I still frequent quite a bit. Usually it's delicious and super generous portions. The service is really quick so you never have to wait long. I always get take out from here so not sure about eating in, but I'm rarely disappointed with the take out so I'll keep coming back. Out of all the Pho places we have had THIS place is by far the best. Not trying to exaggerate but after having food from Viet Taste, nothing can compare and we refuse to go anywhere else for pho. The broth is so tasty and packed with flavor and not only is their pho good but the side dishes and appetizers are splendid as well. We had their crab ragoons, pork sandwich, spring rolls and fried chicken as well. The service is good. Though they seem to favor bigger parties than the small ones I think they should treat all guest with the same level of priority. Ambience is chill and nice. Clean space and bathrooms. I wish this place was not a cash only place I feel that's the only downside but we don't care this place is AMAZING. The food is so good. Since new ownership the quality has gone down. In the last 6 months, they started only accepting cash, which most people don't carry with them anymore. They have an ATM in the restaurant. There isn't a lot of pho places to choose from in the area, so I was a bit worried about how the quality was going to be. In a way, I was right to be worried. I started out with their spring rolls. The peanut sauce wasn't bad, but there was an overwhelming amount of cilantro in the rolls themselves. I couldn't taste anything but the cilantro. The shrimp also didn't seem very fresh to me. I got their Pho with well-done brisket and rare beef slices (on the side). They definitely didn't hear me say no onions because I had a bunch of onions in my pho bowl AND on top of my rare beef as well. To anyone reading this, SKIP THE BRISKET!! It was 90% fat and I can't even remember what the actual meat tasted like. Such a ripoff. The rare beef was tasty and they gave a lot, which I was happy about. All the vegetables provided were fresh as well. I didn't love the broth. It was pretty salty and bland otherwise. I'm honestly surprised this place has such great reviews, but I'm guessing it's because there isn't much in the area to compare it to. Huge no frills space with quick service and delicious food. The pho broth is light but still flavorful- I got the combo which was also a huge portion with lots of meat pieces. For appetizers, we shared the huge crepe lettuce wrap dish, which was my first time and I loved this dish. Super shareable and a fresh start to the meal. This restaurant is CASH ONLY. The inside is very spacious and clean. They had the food ready to go when I arrived. Everything was packed nicely and so full of flavor! We went to Viet Taste for dinner one night after craving Vietnamese food. When we walked in, there was a section for to go orders, and we were guided into a large room for dine in. We started with the sampler, the spring rolls were delicious. The egg rolls were a bit dry but the shrimp Rangoon were like the crab ones but just a long shrimp instead. I decided to get the avocado boba while my husband got the bahama breeze. My avocado drink tasted like syrup and milk. Kind of a let down after seeing all of their great photos of it. But my husband seemed to love his drink. Our entrees came out minutes after the starter platter came out. We both had the pork chop with Chinese sausage and fried egg. The pork was delicious, the let down was the rice. It tasted like old rice, because it was hard and inedible. :( When we went to pay, we were told it was cash only... we don't often carry cash, but was told there was an ATM that we could use. So we went to use it and it was broken. We waited about 30 minutes for the guy to fix it and went on our merry way! read more

Viet taste has some solid food. Started with 001: Viet Taste Starter Plate: crispy egg roll, fresh spring roll, shrimp rangoons, and chicken on the stick. It was a good variety of food to start the meal with and it is great to share with others. My favorite was the chicken on the stick, it had a good grilled flavor and wasn't dry. For the main dish, I tried 42, the pho with combo meat. There were lots of toppings in the pho. I wish there were a bit more onions and that the broth was a bit sweeter. Service was great as they brought the food out quickly and checked in on us periodically. The restaurant has plenty of seating and parking. Our waiter was just ok, I personally didn't like his attitude but oh well... We ordered the Pho Tai Nam, crispy egg rolls and pot stickers. The pho was good but very large sized bowl. The egg rolls were over cooked as you can see in the picture but still good and I loved the fried pot stickers. They don't have fountain drinks which I don't understand and the canned drinks are overpriced. They have a large variety of smoothies and other drinks. The ambiance is casual.
