Best sushi in town, but we miss the surprise complimentary appetizer. The Kado king roll is the best.

Very fine service and good quality fish. Some crazy, overly creative things, the "fusion" stuff that people seem to expect in Japanese restaurants these days, including over-sized rolls. It's like people just want to eat a pile of rice with sweet sauce. Oh, well. Very goo sashimi and nigiri is just the right size, not in the massive, gross-out school. Be careful about beer as it can be VERY expensive, as in $9-$12 for some of the boutique Japanese versions. All in all quite good for Long Island and especially this part of it. read more

I'm so sad to give my fave goto sushi place 2 stars. 3 of us went there for dinner. They have wonderful delicious food. However, I have never been rushed as much as we were tonight. It's not that the place was crowded, there were 2 open booths & at least 4 open tables. They give u a complimentary sushi concoction before your food comes. She gave us that dish & our appetizer at the same time. I couldn't even get my last bite down my throat & they were removing our plates. OK so then our rolls arrive & apparently I am a slower eater than the others & two waitresses completely clear the table while I am trying to finish my food! No need to put your chop sticks in your plate, they must have radar & are there in a flash to remove your plates. Our pineapple dessert & bill comes in a second after the table was cleared. Maybe we were there for 30 minutes tops. We had a table by the cash register & watched 3 or 4 checks put through & we sat and waited & waited until I got up and got my change from the counter. When I asked what happened I was told "she forgot" with a laugh. How can u be so quick to get us out but so slow to give me my change. I don't think that I would have posted this review if this is how we were treated on a regular basis - this was extremely uncomfortable. If not for the delicious food I would not go back. Today was my first time here at Kado and I was very surprised. This place exceeded my expectations by a milestone. I order the sushi dinner and a cocktail which were both reasonably priced with amazing taste and quality. I was given not one, but TWO free side dishes: a free desert and a free appetizer both compliments of the chef. I won't expect free food in the future and I would have still given this place 5 stars without it. I will definitely be going back. Great decor and atmosphere too! Enjoy folks. read more

This is my second time eating at Kado. I'll tell you about both experiences First experience: Sushi was great, the hot food was horrible. I ordered Pad Thai, and almost puked. That's how bad it was Second experience: --I literally went to Kado two nights ago. The service is HORRIBLE. I can't even tell you how the waiters literally ignore you and treat you like crap. My friend and I were seated. The waitress just puts the menus on the table and runs away. Normally at a decent restaurant, the wait staff hands the menus to you...(they weren't even busy so they really have no excuse) -so we order our drinks and appetizer. I got the chicken satay which didn't taste that great. I had to flag down the waitress to come over and take our entrée order since they were busy doing god knows what (again let me remind you, the restaurant was NOT busy). We order our sushi and hot food. They got the sushi order mixed up and gave us the wrong sushi, which I noticed, and pointed out. She takes the dish back and removes the sushi and leaves the other sushi on the plate. Whatever, not a big deal. -Now, my friend warned me not to order the hot food after what happened the last time but I was craving something warm to eat so I took the chance and order Chicken Pad Thai again, and once again I GAGGED. It was disgusting. I took one bite, and didn't eat it. I flagged the waitress down again and told her I didn't want the Pad Thai and she replies let me go see what the manager says. We wait ten minutes, and I see the same waitress and I ask her what's going on, we want the check and want to leave. She replies I am waiting to talk to my manager, and then she goes I tasted your dish - it doesn't taste bad. I look at her and tell her miss I did not like it, and neither did my friend. Please hurry up. It literally took 20 minutes for the waitress to finally come out with the bill. When I saw the bill, the manager had given us a "discount, aka the Pad Thai normally costs $12, and now we were charged $6." I WAS FURIOUS. AT MOST PLACES WHEN YOU DO NOT LIKE THE FOOD, THEY TAKE IT OFF YOUR CHECK OR OFFER YOU A FREE ENTREE NEXT TIME. We paid the bill (which was $100 - so not worth it) and on the receipt, we left NO TIP and wrote NEVER COMING BACK HERE AGAIN. Insanely rude. My mom and I have lived in the area for years and have been here many times before- but today was rude. As soon as we went in for lunch to sit down, the staff said you need to order and finish eating because we close in half hour, and you need to leave in half hour. After being asked 5 times in 2 minutes for our order, we just switched to take out. Why keep the restaurant doors open then if you are going to harass your customers? read more

Today was my first time ordering food from here, I used to order take out sushi fromnother place in syosset thats much cheeper but unrealiable. I decided that an overindulent sushi lunch would be nice and boy was I right! I orderd a lunch combo that had a choice of 3 maki rolls. I tried the Philadelphia roll (salmon cream cheese and avacado) the boston roll (shrimp, lettuce and mayo) and a tuna avacado roll (tuna and avacado, obviously) all the rolls were fresh and large and delicious. I also orderd some sushi on the side (tuna and salmon) and it was also fresh and delicious. They give generous portions of pickeled ginger and soysauce on the side and both were delicious.n The interior of the restaurant was beautiful and my order was ready to be picked up in under 10min. The only reason im givig 4 instead of 5 stars is n.c it was slightly more expensive than the place i used to order from... but the portion size and quality definitely makes up for it. read more

Having been a customer from here for years when I worked in the area and then reading all of the amazing reviews I can't even explain how disappointing my meal just was. After being seated at a dirty table the service was nothing short of terrible. The only person on top of anything was the gentleman filling up our waters. The rolls are HUGE and full of ground up fish which to me doesn't mean it's the freshest and it's like everything we got was ground up with tempura flakes. Our lobster salad was microwaved lobster on iceberg lettuce with nothing else, nothing. Throughout our entire meal someone continued to try to take the plates away while we were still eating. Which was the same thing they did when they dropped the check before I even had a chance to look it over or split the bill like we intended someone grabbed my credit card and ignored me when I asked him to stop by the time I even got over to the bar he already ran my card! Kado has awesome sushi. There's no disputing that. The syosset roll is AWESOME and I love their miso soup! The one downfall of Kado is their service. The waiitresses are extremely pushy and they get really mad at you if you don't know what you want to order within 30 seconds of sitting down. But overall it's a good place to eat if you have a sushi craving. read more

My office just ordered from this place and not only do they not specify when certain meets are in their dishes we found a hair in one of our dishes. When we called to inform the resturant that our two vegetarian dishes had meat in them and one had a hair they were very unapologetic. They came to pick up all of the dishes even the ones people had no complaint about and got angry with that the other dishes that weren't complained about had been eaten. Then they proceeded to want to charge us for only the dishes that had no hair instead of doing the nice thing and giving us the meal for free. This whole ordeal took them calling our office on 5 separate occasions. They were rude and unapologetic. We will never eat at this establishment again! read more

The rolls are OK, nothing special, avoid their spicy rolls, filled with too much crunch and little or no fish meat at all. The lunch specials are affordable, but you got what you pay for. The biggest problem is the service, they act like they do not want you to be there, act rude, such as when they bring the food they just put it in the middle of the table -not even in front of you- and do not even look at you, or they ignore you. Terrible service. Needs to be improved. They should be more attentive, welcome and polite. read more

Kado is incredibly convenient to those who live or commute from Syosset, as it is located across the street from the LIRR station. The warm and inviting atmosphere inside Kado strongly contrasts to its unassuming storefront, and its quality of food and service is always there to impress. read more

I made reservations on a Friday for the next night (Saturday). However, when my husband and I arrived the waitress was about to seat us until I told her we had a reservation and when she checked she said we weren't on the reservation list. The manager then came to us with a nasty look on his face immediately. We did not hear a sorry, in fact he said you don't have a reservation with that nasty look. I explained I spoke to a woman the day prior and made the reservation but he just stared at us like an alien. When we asked how long it would be, he replied "at least 10 minutes" as if he wanted us to leave. Who says it like that? Then my husband said but the waitress was about to seat us before we said we had a reservation. So, he says go ahead and sit then and points to a tiny little uncomfortable table. I then realized there were bigger, nicer booths with 2 people in them each and they must have been the "reserved" tables. We then asked why we couldn't sit at one of them that was empty and he said, "because they are for reservations." Really?! We asked one last time to have our reservation honored or we will just leave. He said go ahead and leave. I guess he doesn't need the business. Although it looked like he did to me...the restaurant only had a handful of tables filled and prime dinner hours on a Saturday night. It is also in a not-so-nice shopping center with a neon sign for its name. No one we knew referred this restaurant...we saw a coupon and figured we'd try it. I guess you get what you pay for. Instead, we left and went to Haiku in Woodbury (not far at all) and had an amazing sushi dinner. The hostess was pleasant, the waiter was friendly and helpful, the food was fresh and delicious, and the wine was perfect! They even offered to make up a sushi roll of our choosing - anything we wanted to put together! The atmosphere was also much nicer looking and cleaner than Kado. So, if you want a great night out and some fabulous food go to Haiku! If you want to be treated poorly and be stressed out, go to Kado... :) read more
