Disappointed with the Katy Location Experience I used to love Kabob Korner when it was in Memorial--the food was flavorful, service was warm, and the overall experience made it a favorite. Unfortunately, the new Katy location didn't live up to those memories. From the moment we walked in, it felt off. There was no paper menu--only an online ordering system--which made things less personal. The restaurant had several employees standing around, but the service was minimal. Our waitress gave us just the bare minimum attention. Bottom of the barrel attention to detail. The appetizer arrived at room temperature--not hot or cold--and the mango lassi, which is usually a refreshing highlight, was served warm, not chilled. Overall, the food was underwhelming and lacked the vibrant flavors we remembered from the Memorial Kabob Korner days. I truly miss the quality and hospitality that once made this place great. I hope they can bring some of that original heart and consistency back. Ambiance is casual. No water refilled. No dishes taken away. If you look at the pictures, Textures were soggy.
We ordered from Kabab Korner on Wednesday, May 21, during their advertised BOGO deal--"Buy One Get One Free" on the BOGO MENU (select combo of TWO to get one OFF). Items like Chicken Biryani and Chicken Karahi were clearly marked as part of this offer. Naturally, we expected to receive two of each dish. To our unpleasant surprise, we only received one of each, and later discovered the standalone Chicken Biryani is regularly priced at just $12.99, but under this "BOGO" offer, we were charged $21.99 for Biryani and $19.99 for Karahi--with no free item included. That's nearly $7-9 more per dish for an offer that never applied. When we called the restaurant to report the issue, they said only Chicken Tikka was included in the BOGO--even though that was never mentioned while placing the order or on the main BOGO menu. Initially we thought it might have been a mistake, but after bringing it to their attention and getting no follow-up call despite their promise, we now believe this was intentionally misleading. It's been four days, and no one has reached out to resolve this. We are seriously concerned about their deceptive pricing and misleading advertising. Unless they correct this, we won't be ordering again--and we encourage others to double-check any "deals" before ordering. Attached picture from their website is one of the example of inflated price between BOGO and standalone order.
We thoroughly enjoyed our dine in experience. Our waitress, Harpreet was amazing!!! She was extremely accommodating to my food sensitivities, friendly, attentive to detail, and checked on us frequently. We ordered the combination feast, but she was able to substitute it with chicken shawarma since the kabobs are marinated in yogurt. My husband had the shish kabob, kifta kabob and beef shawarma. He also ordered onion naan to accompany the meal. The platter comes with two sides, we ordered the three basmati rice and the Khatti daal. Two complimentary sauces- one is a Mediterranean whipped garlic tour and the spicy creamy cilantro. The food was delicious and seasoned well. I enjoyed my chicken and my husband thoroughly enjoyed the beef shish kabob (the one that looks like a medallion). The restaurant was clean, had pleasant ethnic music, culturally reflective decor. We'll definitely be back!
I ordered the Kiffta Kabob Platter on Grubhub, and I picked it up. I did not enjoy it at all. The meat tasted like well seasoned hamburger meat. The texture and taste of the meat was not my forte. I expected the meat to be like Mean Grille on Richmond. I was totally let down after craving this since having it on Sunday.
Great place. Everybody was so friendly and customer oriented. I went by myself but everyone was so nice that not only was the food awesome, the ambience baby! I did notice customers ordered on line and picked up there food without a problem. I sat down to experience my succulent lamb chops cooked Asian style with a touch of yogurt to set it off. Side note: I will try that recipe at home. My chops were tender and seasoned well. What surprise me was that they were a nice size and so tender. It came with yellow rice but I ordered grilled onion, tomato and jalapeño. I also order hummus and Nan as my appetizer. I overdid it with a side salad. I had to try the ginger lemonade and that was a treat in itself. I posted a picture, I apologize that I ate some of it before I took a picture. I hate when I do that, I had to show you.
So I decided to stop by kabob korner today and get lunch. The mint ginger lemonade was posted for $3.95 online but when I went in the store, she told me that it was $5.00. I asked her why was it $3.95 online. She said that I would have to make the purchase online and not in the store. I was confused and said OK and made the purchase online. So as I proceeded to select my items online and view my cart to check out I noticed that the Ginger Mint lemonade was not included. So I refreshed my screen and selected the zesty Gyro wrap, garlic naan, and ginger mint lemonade.. The ginger mint lemonade is now showing $6.10. So I walked to the counter and I see the lady with the ponytail (see photo) on her phone. I called her to the register and asked her why is the drink showing even more money now. She said oh that's how much that drink is. I said just a second ago it was $3.95 for the drink and she told me that it's never $3.95. I told her that's not true. I pointed to the lady in the Muslim attire and said I showed her earlier and she told me to get it at that price I would have to order it online. She called her over at which I explained again that the drink is now even more. She proceeded to tell me that $3.95 was for promotion and it's gone and they have no control over that. I told her listen I'm not here to play any games and that I knew that somebody just changed the prices and I am going to place a review on my experience here.. she immediately said OK I'll give you the drink for $3.95 because you did show me on your phone and I saw it so I'm going to give it to you. I told her that's the right thing to do. So I get my food once it was ready and went home. When I got home to eat my food I found that they gave me a classic Gyro that's $10.95 instead of the $13.42 zesty gyro that I paid for. The classic Gyro was very dry, bland, and not even what I paid for. You three ladies at Kabob 's Korner should be ashamed of yourselves.. It is completely wrong to not honor the prices that you display through your website and then lie about it in front of your customer.. Honesty and how you represent a business is important. I would not recommend this business to no one and will continue to shed light on this place until Management does something about this type of behavior. Very disappointed, dissatisfied, unhappy, still hungry.
If you're craving some decent fish on a budget, this place might do the trick, but don't expect much else. The food is just okay--nothing to rave about. The fish and rice are probably the highlights, and they're surprisingly cheap for what you get. However, the dining experience leaves a lot to be desired. It's unbearably hot inside, which makes enjoying your meal a challenge. Plus, the tables and menus are pretty dirty, which isn't exactly appetizing.
I just recently discovered this place and now I'm addicted. You get so much food for the price! My fiancée and I got the beef shawarma platted, mix shawarma platter, and added on two garlic naan ($2 each) for around $34 before tip. It was so much food and everything was delicious! The meats were seasoned well and the garlic naan was huge and covered in garlic. They gave us a bottle of garlic mayo to eat with our meals, but I noticed another table had a couple different sauces so I'll definitely make sure to ask for those when I go back (which will be soon)! Service was great as well. This might be my new favorite restaurant in Katy!
KATY, TX / MEDITERRANEAN / 02-02-22 / TAKEOUT DINNER -The meat was over cooked and dry. The meat tasted like a gas grill. -The side salads were wilted and old. -The naan was meh; not fluffy, but rather doughy and just fell apart in your hands. -The tikka masala chicken was super salty. They forgot to give the entree's rice. -None of the workers were wearing masks, and the restaurant looked a little dirty. -There were sauce bottles with open tops; see my pictures. Flies, dust, and germs could definitely fall in to the sauce. I don't know what to say about this place, except my search for an awesome kabob restaurant continues!
Used to be one of my favorite spots to eat. I get things are more expensive. But, don't cheapen it. Almost $15 plus for what you will see in the pics. There are elegant restaurants that give you Salmon, salad, rice for under $22. This is almost like a fast food dine in. Very disappointed! My soup was in a small plastic container. It was spicy yellow water. The guy was willing to replace if I drove back. Well, gas is not free. I was willing for him to instead come see and bring me real lentil soups. He instead credited me. That is ok, but honestly no Thanks. I am a mom who has done lentil soup, they can't fool me. If they continue. I will give 2 stars.
Hands down one of my favorite restaurants in Texas. All the Yelp reviews are spot on with this place. This restaurant is super clean and colorful inside, the staff is incredibly friendly and the food is completely off the charts. Not a single dish was monotone. You could really taste each individual spice and how they blended together in your mouth. The Gyros alone were probably the best I ever had, including the ones I had in NYC. Everything from start to finish (on multiple visits) was superb and I will constantly recommend this place.
This used to be a Latin chicken spot (Pollo Campero) that I enjoyed. First time coming back since they converted to this new theme. I think a lot of the employees from the other franchise still work here and the decor hasn't really changed. Was wanting some chicken Shawarma but didn't want to drive to Houston so we gave them a shot. Food was good and prices reasonable. It was NOT as authentic as our Houston spot but a good option for Katy. read more

Tikka masala is supposed to be a creamy tomato based gravy with chicken however what we received was a greasy puddle that looked more like a cow that had been thrown in a blender. My father in law ordered the combo platter and it was tough and over cooked. I'm pretty disappointed and won't be ordering from here again and would dissuade anyone from making the same mistake as myself. Update: my wife got food poisoning read more

My wife and I wanted to try kabobs from other parts of the world instead of the usual Mediterranean version. Kabob Korner advertised that it cooks various versions. So off we went for lunch. We ordered Iraqi kabob and Behari kabob as main entres. We also ordered a veggie samosa and paratha flat bread. We received a complimentary small salad without dressing. The meats were well cooked and tender, but seasoned with spices that we were not familiar with. This was definitely a personal preference, but neither my wife and I liked the spice mixture of our two kabobs. The samosa was really good, but small. The flat bread was homemade and very tasty. Prices were on the high side since none of the entres came with side. Service was very friendly and quick. Employees were masked. read more

All of their information online shows they close at 11:00pm on Friday. Yelp, Google, etc. all show this time. We arrived at 9:55 PM on Friday and were turned away at the door by a very rude server. I let him know about the hours being incorrect and he completely dismissed it and did not care. We will not be back. read more

Recently pulled up to Kabob Korner to try some of their South Asian & Mediterranean food. Mediterranean food is quickly becoming one of my favorite cuisines, and I really enjoyed it in this fast-casual manner. My favorite items so far were the lamb chops, mixed grilled platter, garlic naan, and basmati rice. Whether you're looking to add a new restaurant to your rotation or if you're looking to get your first taste of South Asian/Mediterranean food you should definitely give Kabob Korner a try!! my only complaint is that all of their restaurants seem to be on the opposite side of town that I live on so it's a drive to get there, but to me, it's worth it as I've always had a great experience. read more

The food here is all delicious. I'm generally underwhelmed by the spice level at places but the korma hit the spot. The naan tasted super fresh and honestly I could eat the naan by itself it's that good. Food came out pretty quickly too. They also offer free meals to those who can't afford them, just let them know at the front beforehand. That alone is reason enough to give kabob Korner 5 stars (just don't abuse it!) When you walk into Kabob Korner, your greeted with all sorts of wonderful scents from the food cooking. The people that work here are nice and the interior is just decent as far as cleanliness goes. The ambiance is very casual. The chicken biryani was delicious. The basmati was properly cooked and the tender chicken was crave worthy. The mixed grill is generously portioned for 2 people. It's so huge and includes lamb chops, chicken boti & seekh kabobs, tandoori chicken and beef boti & beef seekh kabobs. It reminded me of getting a fajita platter. The meats were tender and had good crust/light light light char. The grilled onions and jalapeños complemented the mixed grill. The beef shawarma was savory and whatever seasoning or marinade they use, it made the dish. Didn't like the accompanying sauce. The tahini was off and tasted funky. Hummus was included in the shawarma dish. It had a smooth texture but it tasted too acidic and there was too much oil and Paprika. Didn't like that very much . Overall, the food was pretty good. The rice dishes are on point and the meats were seasoned wonderfully. Not a fan of any of the accompanying sauces/hummus. We will definitely come back for the mixed grill and biryani. read more
I came here for a family dinner with a large group. We were seated and ordered at the counter. Everything we got was delicious and hot. The naan was baked to perfection. The mixed grill was a crowd pleaser and it came with rice as well. The servers are really good about clearing the tables fast. The inside is clean and well kept. It's about time a decent Indian/South Asian fusion spot opened in Katy! This is quite a hole-in-the-wall, but the second you walk in, you can tell you're in the right place. The mutton curry was my favorite dish - the meat is crazy tender, and the sauce is so rich and succulent, it's absolutely to die for. Sopping it up with some of their garlic naan is just *chef's kiss* From their menu it looks like they have a good mix of South Indian, northern Indian, and some middle eastern dishes. Everything was very reasonably priced and portions were quite large. I could see this being a great quick lunch spot and definitely was a nice, chill place to grab dinner! read more

Update: came in today on a Monday for the Officer Sandeep Singh Dhaliwal support promotion. I ordered the Behari Kebab and can definitely say it was delicious, helping me easily forget my last disappointing lunch here. For the $9.95 lunch platter special, I went with the Khatti Daal and Tabouleh sides. The beef Behari Kebab was delicious, generously spiced and a good amount of chili heat, nice and tender with nice grill charring on parts. Tabouleh was good, hard to mess this up and the daal was yum: spicy, light and flavorful. Kebab Korner continues to deliver at a high quality for fairly reasonable prices and on a continuing basis over time. Kudos to them for also supporting Officer Dhaliwal's family! read more

Their Lamb Chops & Shish Kabob Platter are the bombs!!! I cannot eat spicy that much so my options are very limited. However, our waitress was very helpful to help us pick out the menu items that weren't spicy. So we decided to try out the Lamb Chops, Shish Kabob Platter, Mixed Grill Platter, and a side order of Gyro meats. Lamb Chops (5/5) - Well seasoned, tender, and juicy! Everything is at the right level & I love how they marinate the meat well enough so that it doesn't have that unpleasant/typical smell of the lamb meat in general. Shish Kabob Platter (5/5) - These beef fillet mignon chunks are well seasoned & tender enough. I love the aroma coming from the beef & their seasoning. I love dipping these chunks into their tamarind based sauce to add a little bit sweet & sour taste to enhance the overall flavor. Mixed Grill Platter - This would be a great option if you want to try a variety of their menu items. The staff was nice on our visits but the service was kind of slow. It also took quite a while for our orders to be ready & the place wasn't even that crowded at the time we came. read more

So this place has been on my radar for a bit. I ordered it to go from their website and for 10% off. The staff was so nice so the ordering process was great. It's not bad for a quick Mediterranean meal but I was disappointed in some of the flavor. The tahini was bitter and the naan was kind of chewy. The hummus, chicken and rice were okay not much flavor. The falafels were actually really flavorful and pretty good. I guess this is obviously more of a fast food type spot and I was expecting a little more authentic flavors. read more

These guys are using COVID as an excuse to cheap out on detergent and how water and the dish cleaning staff. Instead they serve you for dine-in with paper plates and plastic cutlery yet charging full price for the same food. They also don't warn you about this while you are ordering. It's a sad lame excuse to skimp on basic restaurant expenses. CDC has not issued any recommendations of this sort. We have been to 100s of restaurants during the pandemic and THIS has never happened. read more

I placed an order for pick up online today, and it was ready exactly when they said it would be. I ordered the Bihari kabob, chicken seekh kabob, and naan. I personally think the Bihari kabob here is the best in town! It is absolutely delicious, but the quantity is pretty small for the price. I thought the spice level was perfect because I enjoy spicy food, but my friend couldn't handle the heat after the first two bites. It was my first time trying the chicken seekh kabob and I thought it was just okay, nothing special about them. I'll stick with the beef seekh kabob next time! The naan was perfect. The nihari here is amazing as well! They're taking all the precautions necessary here and are playing it safe by not opening for dine in yet. We were out here to visit a store at this strip mall before heading out to the IAH airport. To save some time we decided to just eat our lunch nearby and this place popped up on Yelp with pretty good reviews, so we decided to give it a shot. This is a pretty large Mediterranean (and south Asian) kebab restaurant, especially when all the ones I'd ever tried were very simple hole in the wall type places serving delicious food. This place was clean, pleasant, and casually decorated...with plenty of tables. This is one of those fast casual dining places where you walk in, get into the line, place your order, take the number given to you and place it on the table. Drinks and food are all served to your table when ready. The menu items at the counter all looked really yummy, but I in particular had a craving for a chicken sheesh kebab ....ala carte. My mother and brother each ordered the beef and chicken kebab platters with a choice of two sides. They chose the basmati rice and salad with the beef kebab and a salad and hummus with the chicken kebab platter. As a side we ordered the veggie samosas and a chapati bread. I was quite impressed with the portion size as the cubes of beef and chicken were very generous. My brother commented that the hummus was also quite good especially when eaten with the bread. Everything actually looked fresh ...however, my mother did comment that the beef was a bit cold. As for my chicken sheesh kebab roll, I was really impressed at how delicious it was. ...in particular the warm soft and fluffy bread wrapping the single chicken sheesh kebab. I honestly think they should consider trying to Texas size the roll with a double sheesh kebab.....as I was still a bit hungry after I was done with my roll. Note...you should know that there's a difference between a kebab and a sheesh kebab...my mother who ordered the beef kebabs thought she had ordered the beef sheesh kebab which is made of minced beef....oh well, next time. The veggie samosas which came with a couple of different dipping sauces were quite yummy too, but don't be misled....they may be called veggie, but they're really mostly just potato. We had also wanted to try the chicken puffs, but they were out. Overall, this restaurant was a pretty good pick....good food, nice clean atmosphere, decent service. Too bad I don't live in Texas or I'd come here more often. read more
