We went on a Sunday around 12.30pm to celebrate a birthday for thier lunch buffet. No one else was there other than 1 waiter. We had the buffet but it was a lackluster. Spring rolls and samosa for appetizers. For thier entrees, the paneer makhni dish had more gravy than the paneer. Palak paneer was too creamy so I avoided that. Lobia was an option, surprising to see it in a lunch buffet menu. All in all, it was mediocre, nothing special. We came attracted to its name "Bombay Palace", but there was nothing royal about it. It's been quite a few years since we've eaten here and it's just as good as we remembered. They have a nice lunch buffet. We arrived about 10 minutes after 11 am and the buffet was loaded and ready to go....most places that isn't the case,they're still preparing dishes. I tried almost everything and it was all tasty. We usually get Kabob Korner on Mason but for some reason they were closed tonight and my wife ended up going to Bombay Palace as an alternative. It was our first time ordering from there so she got a variety of things including chicken tikka legs, lamb samosas, potato samosas, naan, and the chicken kid's meals. I tried so hard to keep an open mind and give all the food a chance but it was just bad. Just outright bad. The samosas were dry and the lamb was not flavorful. The potato samosas were below average. The chicken was not dry, but I wouldn't call it moist either. The entire meal just seemed musty and old. There was none of the pleasing aroma you typically enjoy with Indian food. None of the good Indian food smell. This was a bad Indian food smell. The food quality here does not justify the price. I don't know if they were just having a bad night, but I don't think we will order from here again. Quality-wise, Kabob Korner is a better option on Mason. If you're able to drive further, go to Aga's on Wilcrest. read more

They had a left over plate, when I told the waiter this doesn't look fresh, the plate had marks from dried food which indicates a left over plate from the Sunday since Monday they are closed. I should have left, but we were hungry and decided to giver it a try. I regret not leaving as I was already not feeling good eating at a place that would put a left over plate. Went in to pickup my food order, and guy told me 15 min still and was very rude to me. When I told him hey I'm just asking guy told me, "and what bro". I should have prolly said something more but at that rate seems like he was miserable and on his phone. Seems like this place is horrible and that's why the place was completely empty at 5:30 pm on a Saturday. While the interior is well decorated and is appealing, the food however is not. I ordered the parotta and saag paneer to go.The parotta was flavorless and disappointing. The Saag paneer was a small portion for a high price. Indeed we are in the middle of an inflation, but the amount being served and the taste is certainly not worth the price. In the black to go container, there was only less than half of the curry in it. The dish itself, lacked flavour and was primarily cream, with some spinach and some paneer. The person who served me was nice but the food was something else. If you want Indian food, go to Houston but not here . Hadn't heard much about this place, but it was close by so decided to pick up some lunch on the way home. And am so glad I did. I had ordered the regular vegetarian thali and Sarson ka saag, and the food was delicious. There was only one guy taking orders and serving food, but he was very welcoming and friendly. The thali comes with a Mix Veg, Dal, Saag Paneer, Paratha, Rice, appetizer, raita, salad and sweet. The appetizer (samosa) was dripping some oil, but that apart the food was excellent. Was a tad expensive compared to other places but for the quality of food I didn't feel bad about the price. The mix Veg curry was so good, I can't wait to go try that again. The sarson ka saag was good, but I'v had better in Houston. Overall a great experience and I would definitely recommend this place. read more

It looks like a new name change and a new staff. Very friendly and welcoming. I came in for buffet lunch. it was very inexpensive at $11.99. Which is the exact same price for a "to go" which I got for a friend- they don't weigh it so I wish I had put a little more in for her- I guess it is a - whatever you can fit in the box type thing. The food, good. Spectacular, no but it is buffet- they were just putting it out when I got there. I also had stomach surgery about a month ago so there are some things I couldn't even try- like the pakoras. My friend, who happens to be Indian herself, thought it was very good- so my tastebuds my be off. I thought the saag was a bit salty- which is something I have never said about Indian food anywhere- I usually don't taste salt- again- after my surgery, my taste can change. I was happy to find out that they were doing takeout and you can order through Grub Hub or Door Dash. I ordered the Lunch Buffet to go. It runs $12 plus tax. Chicken Tikka Masala, Sang Paneer, Novrattan Korma, Daal Makhani, Garlic Naan, Rife, Cucumber Salad, Spicy Onion (very hot), Papadum, Rice Pudding, and Red and Hreen Chutney. You can order other food off of the menu. Food is amazing and tasty. Customer service is exceptional. For take home or delivery orders they do a great job of wrapping and packaging your food so it is still intact and still hot when you get home. read more

Interior looks a little old and there were still valentines day balloons up but past that, the service was kind and the food was fast. Prices are quite inexpensive compared to my recent indian experiences (portions are on the smaller end though) and I had a good meal. The curry is on the thinner side and if you're expecting spicy like I was, you may be slightly disappointed. Food is not spicy but I'm sure you could ask for more spices. A girlfriend and I had dinner at Bombay Place last night after our Bookclub meeting. It was 8 pm, but it was empty except for one other table. They seem to do a lot of takeout. The service was attentive. We ordered the potato samosas, which were tasty, but it was odd that one was significantly larger than the other. We then shared a Saag Paneer and a Aloo Gohbi with garlic naan and plain rice. The Aloo Gohbi was by far the best thing we had. The Saag Paneer was lacking taste, flavor, and spice (my husband makes better and he is not Indian). Even the naan and rice were just okay. I wouldn't rush back. 3.5 stars read more

Bombay Palace is located at the site of previously good Indian restaurants. Originally named Mantra and was our regular Indian restaurant for over twenty years. Eventually the owner and his wife retired and moved back to India. it was taken over several times under different names after Mantra, although never quite as good. My wife and I got hungry for Indian and, of course, went to Bombay Palace who now had a killer, if misleading, website. We knew immediately that things had changed. It was empty with no AC (instead they have several fans). We ordered dinner and discovered that it was not fresh, I have no idea when it was prepared. We got there around 15 minutes later but still had to wait another 15 minutes to get the food. the dining hall was not too crowded, maybe 1/4 filled up. The food was just OK. I think they could add a little more spice for being mild and also the chicken was just white chicken. I prefer like chicken thigh compared to the other areas. We had garlic naan and butter naan which were great and then they gave us some complimentary onions with seasoning, salad, and crispy chips. I don't think I will be back because the food was just OK. Honestly I am not an expert on Indian food by any means but at $12/lunch buffet to go order plus tax the value and taste can't be beat. Is it the best Indian food I have ever had in life? No. Is it tasty and worth it for your money ? Yes. Made my to go order by phone and it was ready when I came to pick it up 15 minutes later. I was hesitant to try Bombay Place because this location has housed other Indian restaurants in the past and they weren't great. Bombay Palace is different, however, and I'm so happy I gave them a try. The service was very polite and welcoming. They took my takeout order even though they were closing soon. Everything I ordered was delicious. The plain and garlic naan were delicious. The lamb in the madras was tender and the sauce very flavorful. Loved the kheer and mango lassi too. Even though we were late, the gladly seated us. We ordered the Bombay Feast at the cost of $45.00. It was quite the mix of foods. We loved it all. We had lamb, chicken, shrimp, and spinach. Fantastic food, but the owner/ server is one of the most rude individuals you'll ever meet. We've been here a few times and the food really is delicious, but after several bad experiences this will undoubtedly be the last. The first mistake he made was a few months ago when asked my gf if she ate c*m because she was dating a white guy... This time we called in a $260 to go order and he argued with her stating that she called back and canceled half the order. When she showed him her call log he continued to argue with her told her that he was the one that took the order, he was right and she was completely wrong. The garlic naan is actually probably one of the best ones I've had in a long time, it was super tasty on the first day and reheated well without being dry and hard. The chicken was good, didn't get to pick the spice level and it would have benefited from a little kick. There was a lot of chicken in one take out dish which was nice but a little extra sauce would have been good. The amount of rice served was perfect. With the order came a little salad and also some papad which were amazing- shame they aren't in the menu for a side.
