Finally tried this place out. Food was good and came out very fast, there was only one other table with customers today on a Saturday night. Restaurant wasn't busy. We liked the food. Vege uttapam was well made with mix veges. Sambar wasn't too spicy. Paneer dosa was good too. Everything is in disposable containers, and water/drinks is self service so don't expect full waiter service here. Also for some reason they don't serve any Idli at least when we went. Would like to try their weekend lunch buffet sometime. read more

Ordered the butter chicken, garlic naam and a Mango Lassi. The location is near Big Lots in the same strip mall. There was a few families that were dining in. It was very clean inside. I will say next time I will call ahead and order. When I placed the order the guy said it will take a minute which wasn't a problem. While waiting I did have the opportunity to see several dishes that other people got that looked good. Service was pretty fast. Mango Lassi - fresh mango pulp and yogurt mix drink. Very good, so good I forgot about it I forgot to take a pic. Garlic Naam - very fresh and you can smell the garlic on your hand. The naam was nice and big and cut in half. Butter chicken- very creamy, not spicy, the chicken was shredded. I do wish there was a little more chicken. What I like is you didn't taste to much of the tomato spice. It was a nice even balance. Ordered food to go from this restaurant - chicken lollipop and chicken fried rice. The entire experience was quick and easy and my food was waiting before my arrival. I enjoyed the chicken lollipop, albeit was a little oily for my liking, the chicken fried rice was decent, similar to what I've had with other restaurants, nothing to write home about. The restaurant looked clean and the front staff was friendly. The prices are comparable to other Indian restaurants and won't burn a hole in your pocket. There's a huge parking lot outside. If you're expecting exceptional taste, this place will disappoint you. This is a budget friendly restaurant, which isn't a bad thing at all, so it comes with its pros and cons, therefore I'd say keep your expectations real. Excellent original Indian food at a great price. They have specials during the week. I love the Masala Dosa that is half priced on Thursday. Everything is cooked fresh according to your spice level. The staff is very friendly and will take good care of you. On your way out, try a Crown Kulfi. That's an Indian ice cream. read more

I loved their Andhra Chicken Curry!! It tastes just right! A very balanced dish with rich in flavor. Chicken pieces were cooked to perfection. With plenty of Indian restaurants in the area, its hard to compete. Amidst all the competition in the area, this dish stood out for my family. Other than that, chicken biryani was okay. What I loved about their biryani was that its less oily. I tried their dosa, which was not bad but just meh. I'm definitely coming back for the Andhra chicken curry! PLASTIC IN GRAVY On 6th March 2020, Ordered Butter Chicken from Tru India using Uber Service. We were shocked to feel the "BURNT PLASTIC WRAP" in the butter chicken gravy while chewing. I used to be a regular customer for their butter chicken but such quality issues are disappointing to see. Even in the past we found food quality issues such as diluted gravy with very little chicken pieces. I will not recommend this place to anyone until they fix their food quality issues. read more

This restaurant is our #1 go to Indian restaurant in Katy area. We recently went there again and noticed it's under new management. But all the food we ordered are still really good, we love their goat fry, we also ordered lamb vindaloo, gun powder dosa, they were all up to the standard, I saw some recent bad reviews here, not sure why because we didn't experience any of those, and we really hope they won't close due to those reviews, we have seen so many good Indian restaurant closed in the past few years, it made us so sad...we really enjoy eating here! read more

Oh my! How did I not know this place was open! When we eat out it's because of the quality of food and Tru India hit the nail on the head. Very professional and personal service by Sharma. False advertising! They sent a flyer all over social media about the valentine's day special buffet and once we went there half of those times were not there. No Vada, no one offered us the welcome drink and when asked about the chocolate dosa for our kids they said we have to order it separately, so I said fine we want one order of the chocolate dosa and he says sorry we are out of it now. When the vada finally came there was no salt in it. And the special desert in the buffet was very oily double ka meeta. Our first time today and their sauces are delicious. The only reason why I didn't give them 4 stars is because the dishes had very little chicken. The goat was so shredded, it looked like they only served sauce. For the price we'll stick with Nirvana which costs about the same and you get unlimited naan, entrees, salad and desserts. read more

We have been to Tru India several times now ~ and I was remiss in not doing a review after our first visit. First, let me preface that we LOVE Indian food. While there are several options in Katy I'm reluctant to pay downtown-prices for food that is just "okay". Tru Indian was very well priced for the portions, quality, and experience. On top of that there were some real gems on the menu. The samosas were crisp, fresh, hot and well seasoned. The garlic naan was some of the best we've had in Houston. The palek paneer was made with fresh paneer (not that old hard dried stuff) and seasoned wonderfully. Our entrees were flavorful and authentic in taste. They WILL adjust the spice level if you specify so please disregard poor reviews about spice level. If you're going to eat Indian food, expect some spice. If you want to limit the spice you experience, it's on you ~ the buyer ~ to communicate that to the restaurant. We found the owner to be nice and considerate of our needs. Service from the staff wasn't as friendly as your local chick-fil-a but it was on par for may small restaurants in Katy. Give this place a try; you'll be glad that you did. read more
