Let me just say--this place is underrated. I've been coming here for 3 years, and it's the only spot I trust for meat and seasonings. Their chicken? You can literally see and taste that it's not full of weird chemicals. It cooks better, tastes better, and feels better knowing what I'm feeding my family is real food. The prices? Worth every penny for that kind of peace of mind. I've never had a bad experience, and the people working there have always been chill and helpful. We have been shopping at Alsafa for so many years I can't even remember. They used to have a little café where they would sell Shawarma's and other Arabic Yummies. Unfortunately, they closed down the food court to my disappointment. It was super freaking delicious. We always go to get our pita bread here and traditional holiday lamb shank as well as basmati rice And other specialty things you just can't get at regular grocery stores. On the occasion where a product is not as fresh as I'd like I will take it back and without any question, they always fix it whatever the problem may be. Often times when he fixes it, he will not charge me for the product. I've read on here where people are claiming the food is always at a date or rotting and they are being overcharged for their purchases. As I said, we have been going here for 20+ years and have never never never never had a problem with Service of any kind. They carry a numerous variety of products! The store is relatively small yet packs in a ton of choices. It's a little cramped, but it is what it is. I'm not in there to ballroom dance lol I love this little store and I hope they never close. This place has really low food quality. On more than one instance I've had to throw away groceries from here. Ive thrown out produce that smells like weird chemicals. Ive opened a sweet cheese that was rotten. During Ramadan, I went to open a box of dates I had gotten for my guests and they were old and shriveled up which was so embarrassing because we break our fast with dates and they were bad. Decided to give them another chance and the bread is moldy. I have tried to politely talk to the owner before and he catches an attitude. This place is super close to me and it is a shame that their cheating is forcing me to have to go find another arabic store further away in houston. I have on multiple times been overcharged. Almost every time i have purchased groceries from here this has happened. It is no mistake. I am not the only one. My other family members have had this happen also. WATCH YOUR RECEIPTS!!! Not only do they increase the prices for things a dollar or two extra they also add items on that you never even purchased. I have had for example bread added when i never bought any. If you purchase with ebt expect they will still ring up the tax and deduct it from your card. PLEASE CHECK HOW MANY ITEMS YOU PURCHASE AND THE PRICES BEFORE YOU LEAVE. Personally i will never buy from them again unless i am desperate and out of a single item so it is easier to watch the price. Wait...this is a grocery store with a kitchen area inside! Really wait, this is a meat market as well! I actually watched them cut up the meat that they are packaging in the store. They say that their chicken is grass fed and raised with no extra stuff in it, so I am looking forward to trying a chicken product from them. The place is surprisingly big inside and offer a huge variety of imported items. There are samples available throughout the store & a wide variety of items to serve, presumably, the Middle Eastern tummy! Plenty of imported goods are through the store which included drinks with Arabic writing on them. They sell mixed olives by the pound, which I saw several people excited about that. They also sell baklava and other types of candies that are common in the Middle East. I saw different types of imported lentils, rice and other goods that must be a true taste of home for those from that region. I am sure no one wants to here about that stuff though. I was really in the mood for a gyro, so I ordered a reasonably priced gyro with fries. Before I left with my to-go order, I was given a sample of hummus. This is the second best hummus that I have tasted. Read past reviews to see who I think is the first! Fries were fried well and seasoned well. They only gave me a slight handful, but I will not trip on that. The gyro itself had pretty presentation...was put together well...looked tasty...however you choose to say that it looked as though it should taste good! It was a good size, so I knew I would be content after eating it. The produce on the gyro was fresh and you could tell that my gyro was freshly made. I am not certain if the meat itself was seasoned to awesomeness, but I know the sauce they gave me to put on the gyro was yum mixed with I wished I had more of it! I enjoyed every bite of my gyro, and made sure to wipe the inside of the sauce container with my last bite of gyro. From the previous reviews, I need to try a chicken shawarwma (Not sure if that is spelled correctly) as well. I am looking forward to giving this business another try at impressing me. I have never been so impressed by a Gyro with Halal meat before!! Not only is their food tasty, it is also inexpensive. I ordered a Gyro with French fries. The meat, the onions, the tomatoes, the lettuce, and the sauce were SO amazing! All the vegetables were crisp and fresh; the meat was not salty at all! I loved the flavor and left the diner completely satisfied. The service is awesome! You are always helped whenever you need it. This is a restaurant and grocery store duo and it is SO YUMMY!! Tucked inside a strip mall, Alsafa is a grocery store that specializes in ethnic grocery food items. I specifically went here to try out both their gyro (or as the lady at the food counter called, "jai-ro") and falafels however. It probably took about 5-10 minutes for my food to be ready and my gyro came with a side of fries. Gyro was big and meat was juicy and excellent. I was disappointed that lady put the falafels in a pita wrap as I wanted it as a separate side instead of it being squished inside a wrap with sauce. The picture on Alsafa's website didn't show the falafels being put into a wrap :( It's ok though since falafels were still alright. read more

so after reading some reviews, and wanting to try something local in Katy, we decided to come here. It was wonderful!! I had the gyro and my husband had the kabob combination. We also had the hummus. My gyro was better than the kabob, but i also do not like beef or chicken that much. the lamb was so good and the sauce they give you is wonderful!! the humus was really good, except they put some sort of pickle stuff on top, my husband really liked that, but i could have done without that. i really love that they sell so much of the middle eastern stuff i crave, and hate driving to phonecia to get, so its nice that this is so much closer. the service was great, they were so helpful and brought out the food really fast! we will definitely be coming back and bringing my Iranian father in law here so he can enjoy also!! read more

We ordered from here through DoorDash. We will never order from here again. The "beef kebab" plate had 5 small nuggets of beef, compared to the chicken shawarma which had lots of meat. But, both meats were old and reheated. The beef was overlooked and tough and the chicken was mushy. Both dishes were old. The tabouli was colorless and was so acidic it was inedible. I have been buying non veg from this place for year but the place has become from excellent to good to bad and now to worst. I purchased goat liver from this place recently and the guy told me that he has it inside frozen. I asked him if it was fresh and he confirmed that it's fresh from goat they got yesterday. I trusted the guy, got it home and started cooking. I have been eating goat liver for over 40 years now and immediately realized that something is not right. It was either stale or not a goat liver. This is a review of their meat store not the restaurant. Bought mutton from this place three times now after my previous place closed down. Every time I ask for the same - goat shoulder. While my previous place had no problem finding me a shoulder around 2.5lbs, this place always says that the smallest they have is 3lbs. but once they bring it out, it is always 4lbs. At that point, they are like take-it-or-a-leave-it attitude. Now the quality of the meat is nothing to write home about. I have been buying mutton from various places for the last 15 years, and this place has to be the worst. I completely agree with one of the other reviewers who said the owner needs to learn better customer service. Based on the reviews, I thought the food would be much better. Hummus needs more lemon and garlic, very bland. Bread is dry hard and flat, salad is a regular house salad with thousand island dressing-huh?- garlic sauce was okay but there is a spicy sauce on it, which I didn't really like. I got the chicken kebab and the rice was clumpy, the chicken was dry and there was not a lot. I don't know about the reviews that said they give you plentiful meat....Um def not. So bad customer service and crappy food. They need to step it up since there are so many similar restaurants in a very short distance. Kabob korner has excellent customer service. This place is a two for one sale of greatness. Not only are they a halal butcher and grocer, but they are also a cute little cafe that serves some of the best damn gyros I've ever had the pleasure to stuff unceremoniously into my face. Seriously damn good gyros, and their dolmas are great too. Not only is their food good, but they've got a small but impressive offering of imported sodas to wet your whistle with along with domestic offerings like Sprite and bottled water. The service was friendly too. I can't wait to go back and try their shawarma. As far as the grocer is concerned, they have a small selection of everything Middle Eastern to offer, from bottles of rose water to hookahs and shisha behind the counter, they probably have what you're looking for. read more

I've been to this place every once in a while for the last 2 years. The food here is good but the owner isn't very sanitary. I went to get some shawarma with my girlfriend yesterday and while preparing our food he answers his phone with his food prep gloves. He never changed them. Also when he put his gloves on he licked his fingers then grabbed the gloves to separate them. A separate instance my sister came in for food and she claimed he was cutting chicken then took her order with blood on his hands, without washing his hands attempted to prepare her food but she left. Great store and food. Store selection is typical of Arabic stores, with a nice meat market. Kafta from the meat department is great, so is the lamb. Everything is very fresh, and prices are very decent. Small cafe that is part of the store serves delicious food. There is nothing fancy about menu, but a great deal of care and pride goes in to preparing your meal. Meats are marinated, and melts in your mouth. I had their chicken shawarma three days in a row at one point because I was so obsessed! It appears that if you are not Muslim or from middle eastern descent this "dudes" will ignore and make you wait while they engage in their conversations. if one of their own walks in, they will be taken care right away while your food order is not even started.
