    Tandoori Mix (~$22)

Ordered: 4 Steamed Chicken Momos (~$6) Goat Shinwari Karahi (~$20) Tandoori Mix (~$22) Chicken Biryani (~$14) Sesame Naan (~$3) Kashmiri Tea (~$3) Aya's take: Kabab King has officially been put on the map thanks to our Mayor Mamdani who says this is one of his favorite spots! Jackson Heights has no shortage of great Southeast Asian food, so I was excited to give this spot a try. They have dine-in option and plenty of seating upstairs while the downstairs is just for takeout and was much busier. The Steamed Chicken Momos were satisfying, warm, and well-seasoned. There was a bit too much dough for my liking but I did enjoy the flavors. The Tandoori Mix was a nice assortment of various cuts of chicken & beef. Many of the pieces were on the dry side but again, the flavor was there. The Goat Shinwari Karahi is definitely worth getting. The goat was super tender and aromatic and the karahi is fragrant and made well. It's super greasy which I didn't like, and it wasn't served with anything. If you want rice/naan on the side, you need to add that on yourself. Nonetheless, for ~$20, it's still a great deal. The Chicken Biryani was fluffy, aromatic & fragrant, and filled with a good portion of chicken. This was the base for the other dishes we got and truly paired well with everything. The portion was perfect for 4 people and at ~$14, that's an unbeatable price! I also loved the Sesame Naan which scooped up the karahi sauce so well! The Kashmiri Tea here is so good! The pistachios are well incorporated so you don't feel like you're chewing so much while sipping, and the tea is rich & soothing. It's definitely cheap comfort food and we left feeling fill & satisfied but I wouldn't go out of my way for it. Solid try!

My family and I ordered a few dishes from Kabab King on Uber Eats. We got the chicken biryani, chicken karahi, channa daal, and naan. Everything tasted pretty good, and surprisingly, the biryani wasn't oily. However, as I kept eating, I came across a long string mixed in my rice. At first, I thought it was just a long piece of shredded chicken. But I became more afraid after I closely examined it. I rubbed it against my finger, and the texture was like a wet tissue. Then I ripped it apart, and it came off very easily. When I tried chewing it, I was certain it was not meat was not supposed to be in the biryani. Well, I lost my appetite throughout the rest of the meal.

Ordered the beef kebab $3 but was cold when they first handed to me. Had to send it back and asked them to make it hot. They were probably having an off night and thought it was already warm. Kebabs were pretty flavorful and packed with spices. The only thing is that they warm it up after being premade which makes it a bit dry. Their chai tea is pretty good though. Located very close to the subways. Seating is plentiful.

    Dont bother

Nice people bad food. Pararha ok. Microwaved rice and mains. Not much salad...raita is good but not so much to put it in... Dont bother with paratha, if you come stick with naan... Dont get the lamb...it is goat and it is gamey as hell

My friends and I had a blast eating dinner here the other day. It's a casual hole in the wall place, but pretty clean in my opinion and good for large groups! We ordered a bunch of stuff, but the friends and family mixed grill platter (serves 10 ppl), garlic naans, lamb biryanis, and the samosa chat were my favorite! The owner was so friendly and service was fast!

The Malabar chicken was calling my name because of the black pepper, and OMG it did not disappoint!!! It was SO tasty!! It's a dry chicken dish instead of the usual curry/gravy. Super flavorful, peppery, crispy, and not oily or heavy at all! It wasn't particularly spicy to me either, but layered with different aromatics, a complete flavor explosion! I was actually a little confused because I saw the Malabar chicken on Seamless but couldn't find it on ChowNow/Toast, so I wasn't even sure if it was available. I'm SO glad I got it and really hope they keep it on the menu because I would 100% order it again! I also tried the dal with green mango and the tamarind rice from the South Indian menu, and both were delicious. The tamarind rice especially has so many different flavors going on and is so good! If you like bold, layered Indian flavors and want to venture beyond the usual butter chicken-type dishes, TRY THE SOUTH INDIAN MENU!

My SO felt that my bone-in chicken tasted better than the chicken that came with the tikka masala, so he would consider ordering one of the other bone-in options next time (butter chicken (bone-in) or chef's special chicken (bone-in) biryani). Some of the appetizers include crispy tofu, fried soybeans, a Nepali snack platter with marinated meat, goat, beef tripe, sliced beef tongue, fried jerky, duck. They also have a momo section. We had their famous chicken lollipops (essentially fried chicken) and it was crispy and spicy (in a good way). We also had sadeko (marinated or tossed) bacon, which was rich and tender. I had one of their Nepali cocktails, which was pleasantly spicy (the chatpata aam, made with tequila, spicy chatpatey syrup, and mango puree). Service was attentive. The first time that I came here was about 3 years ago with a few friends and we liked the food - the beef tongue was different and super memorable and the jhol momos were just swimming in flavorful curry. Made me want to come back again. Fast-forward three years later, I feel like things have changed significantly. Or maybe I didn't catch them at their best, but I came with another group of friends and I just felt overall disappointed with the food, as did my friends who were excited to try Himalayan food for the first time. I had the goat dhat bhat and the small amount of meat served in aesthetically pleasing bowls to mask the portion was disappointing--and this was not a lunch special or anything. I mainly got a big bone and realistically got about 2-3 small bites of actual meat, while there was an overwhelming amount of rice and veggies. The momos also tasted like they were pre-made and heated or steamed up again because the dough was definitely a little rough. Overall, this experience was a meh for me. I think it is a social staple for many Nepalese and Tibetans in the area, and just for that.
