Lamb korma, goat vindaloo, Malai
Gene F.

First time here and we are not disappointed at all. We ordered biryani shrimp, lamb Korma, malai kofta and goat vindaloo. All were delicious. Regular size had generous serving enough for 3 people. I'm really glad we chose this place for lunch. Service was quick and prompt. Totally 5 star. Will surely return.

Butter Chicken, Chicken Kadhai & garlic naan (3 orders)

In Gainesville only for one night. I'm sooo glad we chose to eat here for dinner. Everything we had was incredibly delicious! We ordered everything spicy, and it was the perfect amount of spice that we like. We ordered chicken samosa, large spicy butter chicken, regular sized spicy chicken Kudasai, and spicy tandoori chicken & 3 orders of naan. I didn't get a picture of the Tandoori Chicken before we tore it up, but it was one of the best tandoori I've had! We loved all of the food that we ordered. The garlic naan was perfectly puffy & so deliciously garlicky. The gentleman who helped us was super nice. The ambiance was good. They were playing acoustic 90s songs while we were there, which I absolutely loved! I highly recommend this place.

upset it took me so long to try this place. so great. will be back again. they also had a free soup at the front and I honestly would've drank a gallon of it if I could.

Samosas, Butter Chicken, Garlic Naan

A friend of mine used to frequent Kabab house for years and invited me to lunch after realizing they had moved to their new 34th st location. I ordered Butter chicken w/ Garlic naan, and my friend and I shared an order of samosas. In terms of flavor, this is the best I've tasted in the area. The pricing is fair I would say, but could be borderline pricey for a more casual style restaurant. I honestly hadn't had much success with Indian food in Gainesville until now, so I'm grateful to have found a place I can count on!

Chicken Tikka Masala and naan platter

Our absolute favorite Indian restaurant in Gainesville. Order the tikka masala and the naan platter every time. Not the cheapest but fills me up every time and it is delicious. I haven't been to another Indian place better. Highly recommend.

Food is still good service was good and still the same vibes. Was missing Indian food so came to this place again. The only thing I wish you'd add to the menu during winter time is the Indian milk tea I used to get it in NY all the time and I miss it

New location on 34th

I thought maybe the new location would be better. Sufficed to say, it is not. I have ordered the chicken tiki masala, which was ok, but somehow lacking flavor. I thought that strange since it's like a curry. The most egregious error was there was a HAIR in lamb kabob wrap. Like, seemingly baked into the naan as it was attached to it. I had eaten a few bites when I found it. The few bites I had of the sandwich were not good at all. The lamb was skimpy, underseasoned, and it was drowning in greasy iceberg lettuce. It was not appetizing. I'm quite disappointed and have concerns about cleanliness, so I will not be returning.

Spiciness guide, very helpful

We went to Kabob House on 34th Street near Archer Rd before our errand at Aquatropics... This place ended up being way more than a quick bite and an afterthought! The food was some of the middle eastern food we've had, and came in at a great price point! We had the tandoori chicken and mixed tandoori grill. The meat was flavorful and tender and the rice was flawless! Everything was delicious separately and together. The lamb especially stood out because it was tender and wasn't gamey. Service was a tad slow given we were the only ones in the entire restaurant but every place seems shorthanded these days and that's forgivable. We'll be back... and sampling different menu items. Yum!

Plain Naan

Kabab house is the cheap Indian food cuisine I have been searching for! I've been craving chicken masala and butter chicken but I wasn't able to find any places that were in my budget. This place has great portions, leaving me full. If you're a UF or Santa Fe student, ask them for the student code and they'll give you a free side of Naan with your dish. The chicken masala combined with the basmati rice and naan were delicious! I would recommend the butter chicken if you want a more creamier version of the chicken masala. I would highly recommend everyone to come out and check this place out! I will definitely be back here soon. (Excuse my terrible pictures! I promise the food was presented better but I forgot to take a picture before I already started eating. It was THAT good)

got the butter chicken, was very good. The chicken in it was very chewy and bland though also very expensive for the quantity.

What days and hours is buffet usually open?

We don't have the lunch buffet anymore. From 11-3, we have lunch specials where all items include soup, salad, pakoras, and pappadadam. It's a great deal and you will be filled up.

Definitely wear something warm, because they keep this place pretty cold by Florida standards. I…read moreprobably would have been there longer had I not been freezing. Perhaps, it's to keep everything fresh... Otherwise, this is a very nice Indian grocery store that offers beautiful fresh produce, authentic Indian food brands and a good variety of products. I could just go down every aisle and fill up a basket...easily! If I were a student, this would be one of my favorite spots to pick up pre-packaged Indian entrees and prepared meals. It's a tad bit on the pricier side, but there's a great variety and most of the staples are imported from the East. They even carry Satya Sai Baba Nag Champa incense and body products here among other wonderful home & personal care items. I love that they offer spices in smaller packages for around $1 each just in case you don't need pounds of cardamom. However, they do offer bulkier amounts of all essential spices for Indian cuisine. A few of the items you will find here are cardamom (fresh and green!), cumin, clove, cassia bark and cinnamon, coriander, nutmeg, mustard seeds, fenugreek, turmeric, garam masala, and a plethora of curries! Omg! And the RICE! They have a great selection of big bags of basmatis! My favorite part of the store is they have ready-to-eat spicy samosas and kachori. They were huge and only $1.25 each. You could reheat them in the microwave they provided in-store or save them to take home and either crisp them back up in the oven or refry. They are not made locally. The samosas did not come with any type of sauce and I was told that I would have to buy some if I wanted it, but either way - I would come back here for those again. They were really yummy! The greatest discoveries for me were the boxes of Girnar Instant Cardamom Chai Milk Tea and the Girnar Instant Masala Chai Milk Tea. Each box contains 10 sachets to make yourself a delightful beverage at home by just adding hot water. This milk tea was also offered hot, pre-made in-store, but you're going to pay $1.99 for a tiny little cup. Just buy the box of 10 ($5.99 each). There are more flavors...

There are so many exotic foods that you would only be able to find in this little Indian Bazaar. I'm not Indian, but as a latina I know how hard it can be to find food that reminds you of home! I loved coming here and exploring all the different Indian goodies. They have great prices on Indian spices and other Indian commodities. I bought honeycomb, aloe juice, chocolate barfi, paneer, and Indian cream cheese. Everything wzs delish. The cashier was an extremely sweet man!! I had trouble with my card working and he did it for me ahaha. He was so sweet. It was just my girl friend and I late at night and he made us feel so comfortable by asking if we needed anything else and helping us. Very nice establishment !!

My first time at Flaco's but definitely NOT my last The person (who I assume must be the owner) working the register, taking the orders, and making the food was so kind, suggesting options for me given it was my first time there. I got the beef arepas and a cheese pastry cause I was not too hungry. The food was piping hot and delicious. Others in our group got their empanadas, Cuban sandwich, cheese arepas, quesitos, loaded nachos, and guava cheese pastry. As we sat there eating, the line was growing longer and longer, and out the door by the time we left. It was not due to slow service but volume of last night revelers. The one person working that night was incredibly efficient. Kudos to him. Clean bathroom is a good sign of a clean establishment. Flaco's bathroom was clean. I will be back for more tasty eats!

We were driving up north and craving Cuban food, so we decided to quickly stop at Flaco's for a bite. The parking was horrendous, but that's expected of downtown Gainesville. Just as bad as the parking was their selection and quality of bakery snacks. The guava and cheese pastelitos were horrible; stale dough and barely any cheese. After my first bite I even thought they gave me the guava-only pastelitos... you couldn't taste the cheese. The empanadas were dry, and the dough was terrible as well, but the flavor of the filling saved them. The quesitos were the best of the bunch. If you're expecting South Florida quality Cuban dulces... you're in for a treat. Maybe I just had too high of expectations?
