The Goat Biryani was good but the Chicken Biryani was so much better. Will definitely be back for it. The Chicken Bihari Boti and the Chicken Bihari roll were both good too. It looks like someone else makes the Chaat for them as we saw someone bring it from outside and give it to them. They forgot to pack our samosas with our order and looking at the menu and receipt now it looks like they charged us a different price for roll than what was on the menu. There is parking which is a huge bonus in this area. The Biryani, Bihari Boti and Roll are worth going back for but will have to keep an eye on the issues mentioned above.

Chicken biryani and kebab, very good

This place is delicious, when I'm in an area where I can't find Mexican food this is my comfort. Today I got the ice cream they have and it was a delicious appetizer to my main meal. I ordered a chicken kebab, it was delicious. Very well seasoned and spicy, I could have done with some more heat though . I had the chicken biryani too, my plate was stuffed to the brim. All in all very delicious and take it from me eat here whenever you're nearby.

God dam that was a good kabob!!!

Used to have excellent kababs but not anymore after Sher Khan, who was their main cook left.

Shalimar, Woodbridge - Worth the Detour…read more Finding parking in Manhattan can feel nearly impossible--unless you're willing to pay what amounts to a full night's hotel rate just to stop for a short meal. On our way back to DC, we finally decided to stop somewhere more practical where parking wouldn't be a hassle. We ended up in Woodbridge and initially stopped at Shah's. Since my wife and I weren't in the mood for fast food, we asked the staff for a recommendation. Without hesitation, they pointed us to Shalimar, saying it was the best option in the area despite there being several Desi restaurants nearby. After a 10 min drive we arrived with fairly low expectations. The surrounding area felt a bit worn and unremarkable--but the moment we stepped inside, that impression completely changed. The restaurant was clean, modern, and felt recently renovated. Since we still had a long drive ahead, I asked for their specialty dishes. The initial interaction with the staff felt a bit rushed, as if they had somewhere else to be on a Friday night--but we managed to place our order. And then the food arrived. The sizzler was outstanding--perfectly seasoned, incredibly flavorful, and with a texture that really stood out. The chicken was juicy and tender, paired beautifully with buttery naan. The portion was massive--easily enough for four people, and even with our best effort, we still had leftovers. Asked for extra sauce to go but that came in as a no show. We also tried the Chapli kebab, which was equally impressive. Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and packed with flavor. The combination of red onions and green chili on the side elevated the dish even further. Service was a bit mixed. The younger staff seemed quite busy and not especially attentive, but the manager noticed and stepped in, which improved the experience. Before leaving, we grabbed a mango lassi and a falooda to go--both excellent and perfect for the drive back. Overall, the food, portion sizes, ambiance, and pricing were all outstanding. Even if the service wasn't perfect that evening, the quality of the food alone makes this a place we would absolutely return to when in the area.

I ordered it mild, and the spice level was just right. It also came with a small side of raita, which was a nice touch. Unfortunately, the Malai Boti was very disappointing. It literally tasted like plain boiled chicken. There was no creamy malai flavor or richness at all, and it lacked the seasoning and texture I was expecting. It was a huge contrast to the Chicken Karahi. I would definitely order the karahi again, but I would skip the Malai Boti.

I love supporting new restaurants, especially when they bring something special to the table. We were seated immediately, but I will say the service could use some improvement. It wasn't the most welcoming, and we had to wait a bit before someone took our order. That aside, we were excited to dig in. We ordered, Gol Goppay - Unfortunately, this was not a hit for me. It was way too salty and lacked the depth of flavor it should have. Kaptaan Karahi is the star of the show! The shorba, the masalas, the flavors--each bite had us fighting for more. Their chef knows exactly what they're doing, and this dish alone will bring me back. Lastly the Peshwari Naan - Another must-try! The size alone is mind-blowing (just check out my pics!), and it's made fresh in the tandoor. Slathered in butter, it's phenomenal. I'm already planning my next visit when I'm back in New Jersey. If you're looking for bold, authentic flavors and freshly made naan that's larger than life, this place is worth checking out!
