Just felt the need to share my experience from 2023/2024. Brought my 12 week old puppy for puppy classes and was hopeful to advance into more specific training and she got older. Puppy classes (basically an hour of playtime with other dogs of similar age) are on the main field and they all have a blast running around playing. Being puppies they're learning how to play and at one point my pup played a little too hard and for whatever reason the owner of the facility picked up my pup and dropped her into a troth of water (in my opinion too aggressively) as a punishment which has now left her with a huge fear of water. The trainers never seemed nice to my dog or gave her any attention like the other dogs in the same class. I ended I having to do the course again (had to pay twice) because she wasn't "advancing" quick enough. On-top of the puppy classes I tried the day training to which I found out my dog was put into a kennel for 5+ hours or tied up to a wall most of the time (dropped off at 7a and picked her up around 12:30-1) instead of receiving training or playtime with the other dogs. I will NEVER recommend this facility, they broke my dogs spirit which I've been trying to rebuild for over a year now and she's slowing coming around but anytime we're in the car headed that way she STILL flips out until we pass the exit and knows we're not going back there. read more

UPDATE for BECKY who told us after 5 weeks of board with NO result that we should keep boarding her again and if we cant accept her the way she is we should give her to a new home that will accept her for being leash aggressive. 4 months later we didnt take any of their advice and got her to be where k9 training solution had no faith in her to be at, interacting with other dogs and playing at the dog park. We found K9TS about 3 years ago after getting a 5 month old Belgian Malinois who had already been taught some very bad habits by his previous owners and was extremely aggressive. Within the first hour working with Charles, we already had tools that worked with our pup. We began going to the weekly obedience and protection classes and could see improvement every single class - not just with our dog, but with us and our abilities as handlers. We received individualized attention to meet our specific needs with our dogs behaviors and could not be happier. We were so impressed with the care, attention and results we got with Oden, we decided to train our newest pup with Becky at K9TS and, once again, we're blown away with the results. I took my 10 month old GSD to Charles for an evaluation a month ago. I learned so much about my dog in that hour and a half, which by the way was supposed to only be an hour but Charles didn't mind at all. My dog Nala was so anxious and I had never seen this side of her before, well at least didn't notice it. The first couple of sessions were rough on Nala and I, but Charles really help us owner's understand the behaviors that our dogs were having. Everything that Nala and I have learned has truly benefited us. Yes basic obedience is great and teaching your dog sit, down, stay, etc. is good but what Charles teaches is way beyond just teaching them simple commands. I have never thought I would know so much about my dog. I can now tell when she is anxious by just looking at her stance, I am such a better owner because I understand who my dog is. We are going on our 5th week of training tomorrow and Nala has grown so much. She still has a long way to go and we are signed up for our next round of classes and couldn't be more excited. I have a German Shepherd and wanted some obedience training. I did 2 petco puppy classes and got very little out of it. A friend recommended Charles at K9 Solutions. So I gave him a call and went in for an assessment. From there I ended up purchasing an 8 pack of classes. I spent a lot more than I had at petco. But it was worth every dime. Charles was Great I learned so much from him. He was so patient explained everything in great detail. Today I am a much better dog owner and I have created a great bond with my dog. And with his guidance I have an even better dog today. I could not be happier with Charles and his staff. Big bonus my dog is happier, listens more and has stopped eating the furniture. read more

Most businesses have a viewpoint of being an expert based operator and that's the main point. As being a manager who's job it was to go to companies, evaluate, guide, and correct, I can tell you that being an expert is only half of the point. Always know that half so 50% and a 50% is an F. I have been here quite a few times. There is no doubt that Charles knows why he is doing. I trust his training expertise and you should too. The problem is with availability and customer service. Also, the problem is very needed improvements to procedure that would increase value of their services which right now is lacking OR could be so much more. On more than one occasion, I have called and left NUMEROUS messages to board and trim my dog to no avail. The workers there don't answer the phone (business 101: the phone should always be answered in the first two rings). I don't understand how I can call several times and leave voicemails needed boarding soon and NO amasser or callback. I boarded my dog here for 8 days at $1,000. A hefty fee. When I returned, I was not given a rundown on what exactly they did even with my questioning. I want revised with a daily log of training. When I asked a few times, I was talked to shortly for 2 minutes. I felt very underserviced. When someone pays for training and boarding, a daily simple log should be given with a summary of what occurred. We all know that the dog is more easily trained than the human so I needed to know what was done to upkeep the training. It want done nicely. Now, I called numerous times to board again. After the time and money before, I have received no callback whatsoever. It has been three weeks and caused an issue now with my boarding. No one is perfect..I'm not... but it spreads when a customer is treated this way. I simply don't understand why. I hope they don't laugh when they read this bc is want funny to have this happen to me and my dog here. Again, Charles knows how to train; no doubt. If your willing to tolerate this type of non communication and possible headache when trying to board later in a tight schedule , fee free. read more

We have a 5 year old Belgian Malinois that we adopted last year. She's a beautiful and intelligent dog that formed some unfortunate bad manners and territorial issues with our neighbors. She tore down the fence in several spots and that's when we knew we needed some help with her. I went to see Charles at K9 Training Solutions the same day for a 1 hour evaluation and the two of them had their own language. I was desperate to get some help. Because we adopted an adult dog from the shelter we didn't know much of her history but Charles knew right away that she had been previously trained. He said, "she's smarter than she let's on"! It was obvious to us that from Day 1 she knew basic commands, like SIT, STAY, GO, COME and DOWN. But things like HEAL were always a problem. During the evaluation, I learned so much about our dog and what we've been doing wrong for a year and a half. Charles is extremely knowledgeable, he also has several Belgian Malinois at home. After the evaluation, I decided to do private training with Charles. He has come to our home once so far and we are extremely happy with the training we've received thus far. Charles is honest, observing, knowledgeable and charismatic. I highly recommend K9 Training Solutions. Give them a call and at least make an appointment for an evaluation. DO NOT USE THEM!!! I have an every day regular German Shepherd with some anxiety issues and they did not help. They only made it worse. My fiancé and I went to the group training and he not only tries to over power the dogs the alpha way by trying to choke them out but he also hits dogs in class. I'm a huge dog lover and I love our dog and this guy should not be training every day family dogs!! I found animal minds and behavior out of Rancho Cordova and they treated our dog amazing and never had one issue with them!! Do not hire this guy or go to his group training. I'm not the first to say this either, I have found other people who hate him too, they just haven't posted!! Go somewhere else!! read more

Horrible experience, not worth the time or money spent! Every time I bring my pups to K9TS it's a huge step backward and a total disappointment. My dogs shut down. I feel I get more agitated than the dogs trying to communicate with these trainers. Then I have to go back to my other trainer (manifest K9) to fix it.. Further more they will not take any direction/suggestions from you. As the owner of the dog and a paying customer you would think that your opinion matters. It doesn't, not to them. They never ask what your trying to accomplish with your animal or wear he's at with training. They just jump right in with whatever they think is needed despite not seeing or knowing the dog. I've tried making requests to practice routines for upcoming trials like what we've been Working on. They just talk down to you. All I can say it results speak volumes. If you want results this is not the place. You'r better off purchasing Leerburg videos and teaching yourself. I honestly wish yelp would let me post videos of my pups at this trainer and their other trainer for comparison lol read more

Took our German Shepherd, Amai, in for a consultation with Charles and we're optimistic that our anxious girl will get the help that she needs. Charles gave us some tips on switching out Amai's harness to a pinch collar and feeding her less to get her to an ideal weight. Unfortunately, we had a very bad experience with K9TS. My son had a German Shepard puppy who was creating a lot of havoc, and contacted Charles Wong at K9TS regarding training. After paying Charles $4,000 for their services, the puppy still had several of the same issues (digging up the garden etc.), which my son found difficult to handle, so contacted Charles again. Charles offered to take the dog and find a new home for her, and it was my son's understanding that he would give my son some compensation once a new home was found. (We had papers for both the dog's parents, so she had an excellent pedigree.) After not hearing anything more from Charles, we contacted him to see what was going on. He said he did sell the dog, but refused to compensate us IN ANY WAY for her or for the failed training. We were only asking for a very modest settlement of $500, which we thought was fair considering the amount we invested in the failed training and the cost of the dog, but he refused to to even give us a dime and was quite unpleasant about the whole transaction. Our dog Reese, a cocker spaniel, was really struggling with being out in public and would be really aggressive and loud at strangers and dogs. Since working with these trainers at the group classes, Reese has improved immensely! We do lots of activities in class that involve close dog contact which allows Reese to 'face his fears' when presented with other dogs. We can now walk him without having to cross the street when other dogs come by. It has really been a huge learning experience for all of us! Even the kids are able to walk him now! We are signing up for the advanced classes next month and are very excited to see what Reese will learn! It is a bit of a drive for us to get to the training center, which is the reason for the 4 stars. But they are opening a new center in Rancho Cordova soon which should help our drive time a bit. This place is amazing! The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful! The facility is large and they do the training on site. They do not have you go to a park. They have the proper equipment and also train for protection. I would highly recommend this location, Charles truly knows the business and you will be very happy with the results! I have been taking both my 4 month old German Shepherd (Frank) and 1 year old Labrador (Max) to K9 Training Solutions for a number of weeks now and both have dramatically improved. In the past Frank had a short attention span but now he listens and obeys commands instantly. Max was a wanderer and when lose in a park it took me 15 minutes to retrieve him from playing with others. Now, he is more aware of my presence when in the company of other dogs and returns frequently. I am so impressed with their kind but positive training methods that I recently recommended to a friend who has a lively Boxer and was amazed with her improvement in just 2 training sessions. After calling what seemed to be every training center in my area, I went into K9 Training Solutions to see if I felt like they could help us. Our GSD was basically a lawsuit waiting to happen. He had multiple bite attempts, is completely anti social, and I was terrified we'd have to give him up. Luger only allows myself, my husband and our 9 year old to be around him. From the moment I walked into the place, I knew they were the ones to help our pup. Charles, Kathie and Harriett are amazing. They're friendly, knowledgable, and most importantly, they're experienced with working dogs. Even though I just dropped in, they gave me a tour and their undivided attention. I couldn't wait to get home and tell my husband. We boarded Luger there for a week while on a work trip. When we picked him up, he already seemed a little more calm. If that's how he came home after a week of just boarding him, I am really excited to see the changes in him after he completes the training. I am so grateful that we stumbled upon them. I am sooo glad my wife found this place. Let me first start off by saying my dog is a complete spaz. I went in today for an evaluation for my 1 year old English Pointer Mac. I didn't have any expectations for this visit just looking to get him set up in some basic obedience classes. I met with Charles "The Dog Whisperer" and within 15-20 min he had my very hyper/stubborn dog chillin by his feet and he stayed put. He was actually behaving. I could not believe this was the same dog. I really liked the way he explained things and educated me on some cool tips to work on. I had taken my dog to another training facility for 3 private lessons but it didn't even come close to the results I received here on our first evaluation. Needless to say we will be back for the series of group lessons starting next month. I can't wait! read more
