Christie and her team are pros! They can handle any kind of dog and have all the accommodations and activities to make your dog feel at home while you're away. I've been taking my dog there for 3 years. He's not the easiest pup to manage and her team does a great job. I also did Christie's training program. My dog was 10 at the time and after 30 days I had a new dog. He walks perfectly in lock step and his anxiety has diminished significantly from where it was. My friends have done this same program with the same results. 10/10 would recommend. read more

Christie and her team are miracle workers. I would give them 500 stars if I could! Our family rescued a young German Shepherd mix who had such severe anxiety that we could barely get her to walk past our yard. She was fearful of other dogs and dangerous around people (even members of our own family) because she was so scared. After five weeks of board and train with Christie, she was a completely different dog. She now can go on long walks and loves any other dog she meets and can run and play for hours. Christie's training didn't just help our family, it gave our dog the confidence she needs to live a happy life. We continue to board and take group lessons there. We are forever grateful to her and love her beautiful facility. read more

My dog was a big, unruly juvenile dog and he was a little scary. We did a board and train and got back a very different dog. He walked politely, sat on command and he could even go to Home Depot, ignore every thing else and listen to me. Our other dog took basic obedience class. We learned how to work together, too. Now, both dogs are well behaved. We are confident and can go anywhere with them now. We also use boarding services regularly and have been very happy. read more

K9 Mastery and Christie are everything my husband and I prayed for when our 2 year old dog mix started showing behaviors. Our dog had been struggling with high anxiety and aggression for about a year. We had tried other trainers and left the sessions only in disappointment or scared that we could never help our pup. At the first training session, Christies tactics worked great with our dog. She talked us through everything and gave us answers to all of dogs issues. We have gone through most of the levels of the training and have seen a amazing changes in our dogs behaviors. Also, our dog loved going to 'school' and seeing Christie every Tuesday night. I would recommend anyone and everyone to Christie and K9 Mastery. read more

We are an Austin area home based dog boarding and training business. Our primary location is located Bastrop, TX on 42 beautiful acres. Additional services include daycare and behavior modification for even the most aggressive dog. We don't just train aggressive dogs! All breeds, ages, & temperaments are welcome. We love them all--from 3 lb Yorkies to 160 lb + Mastiffs! We work with your average happy go lucky dog to make them all they can be as well as severely fearful or aggressive dogs that need more intensive behavioral help. Group classes are in Bastrop and Georgetown. Private lessons can be arranged anywhere, and boarding or board & train services are available in Bastrop. Don't worry! If that seems a little far, we offer pick up and drop off services for boarding! Kennels are climate controlled and owners are on site. We also offer extras like private walks and play times, doggy ice cream, nail trims, swim times and more! Behavior Modification: Did you know that the most common reason dogs are given up to shelters or euthanized are bad behavior and aggression? Many people want to be good owners and feel like they have tried everything, only to give up because of bad advice, inexperience, or ineffective training methods. Edit Established in 2009. K9 Mastery is founded on the premise that dog ownership should be fun, challenging, and rewarding. This company was founded in 2009 when Christie made it her mission to help other people realize the joy of having well trained dogs that are trained in methods capable of producing dogs reliable in real world situations without even a collar. She knows that there are other people out there in the situation she was once in, desperate and looking for an answer, and believes that no one should have to ever consider rehoming or euthanizing a dog because of behavior or training problems. She also knows there are many people out there that have spent countless hours and exorbitant amounts of money on training that has failed them and others that simply don't know where to start. And so K9 Mastery was born.

Meet the Business Owner: Christie M.

Born and raised in TX, Christie made Austin her permanent home after attending and graduating from the University of Texas at Austin. Christie has always had a desire to work with animals and, in particular, dogs. Around December 2007, the problems with their own dogs escalated to such an extreme that not only were there several costly visits to the emergency vet for emergency surgeries, but both she and her husband were injured separating the fights and were told that they would need to keep their dogs separated as they would never be able to be in proximity of each other without fighting. Devastated and thinking there was no solution other than rehoming one or more of their dogs, Christie made one last desperate attempt to find something that would work and give her a stable pack of dogs. Today, Christie still has the dogs she had when her search began and without aggression issues. They are truly the joy they were meant to be as well as fun, obedient, and reliable.

There are plenty of training areas outdoors, space to run around, as well as a splash pad pool area for pups to swim and play. Training classes were both hybrid indoors and outdoors and Briana is truly amazing at what she does. She has the best approach when it comes to training your dog and I love how thorough and informative she is. Almost every session you attend, at some point you have to demonstrate in front of the class things that you've been working on with your dog. What I love about Briana is if you do something incorrectly she does not make you feel bad, she simply corrects, redirects and then compliments once it's done right. Luna loved going to "school" and learning new things as well as playing with other dogs after the training classes were over with for the day. These classes were so important and really helped us better understand her and furthermore I think she loved wanting to learn as well. We have seen such improvement in her demeanor and behavior and will continue to reinforce what we've learned at Dog Joy. We hope to sign Luna up for more classes in the future.

But for overnight boarding it's a great place, clean facility, dogs are always happy and seem well cared for when we get them.

He became very sick, very fast, and I rushed him to an emergency clinic hoping for help. Instead, he was placed in a holding room alone for 24 hours before anyone ever looked at him. By the time I saw him again, his tongue had turned black, and green bile was coming from his mouth. He passed away in my arms at only two years old. I was young, devastated, and completely lost. I had to roll my boy up in a rug, sobbing as I carried him back to that same clinic because I didn't know what else to do. They never asked if I was okay. They never expressed sympathy. They only tried to sell me services I couldn't afford. The way they handled his life--and his death--left a hole in my home, in my heart, and even my cat and I fell into a deep depression. It also left me with a deep fear and mistrust of veterinary care. So when it came time to bring Rogue in, I carried all of that pain and hesitation with me. But then I met all of you. From the very moment we walked in, your warmth and compassion were obvious. You were gentle, attentive, and you treated Rogue like the precious soul she is. We called multiple days in a row for an estimation for our dogs vet visit, eventually they replied…read morewith 86$ for the exam. Which would be absolutely fine if I hadn't specifically asked for anti-anxiety medications for my dog. When she arrived at the vet today the total cost for the visit had jumped to an estimated 304$, for included blood tests on top of the exam. I absolutely understand this is necessary, but when I called to ask why that was not part of the estimation the reply was "Not all anxiety medication requires blood testing." I don't understand how a veterinarian could hear that a dog has anxiety issues, and not have any idea that she's going to need testing for said issue, especially after multiple days of calling in to check. Tying it all off with a wonderful bow, by the time I had someone willing to help and didn't see fit to answer all my questions rudely. My partner had already been forced to pay the cancellation fee and barred from returning as well as one of the employees going out of her way to call my character into question. TLDR: I absolutely 1000% understand not all anxiety meds require bloods testing, I also understand that none of them were ruled out ahead of time so it should've been in the estimation. When I called to ask why it hadn't been included the First Lady was very rude, by the time I had someone else on the phone explaining we were banned.
